For our best music coach my name is dan and you’re watching a music teacher’s reaction live and in real time to the minecraft original soundtrack nether update i have never heard this music before not once ever never ever ever so all my observations are off the top of My head in real time i might pick up the guitar i might pick up the piano uh we’re gonna play a little bit maybe along with music we’re gonna explain to you some concepts in the music as we go and without any further ado we’re just gonna get rocking and rolling the chat Welcome chat and anyone who’s been uh in the chat welcome and i’ve just said that twice i’m running on low sleep today so i might be repeating myself and it might get a little weird but here we are it’s going to be fun this first one is called chrisopia christ so chris chrysopea Well chat you’re gonna help me out with the pronunciation on that one this is by lena rayne the incredible composer let’s get this rock and rolling kind of feeling like deja vu but this one is also playing and it’s very quiet Oh love that slide there Chat why do you keep on typing chat that’s so weird why would you do that chat keeps on typing c-h-e-t and i just don’t understand why There’s absolutely no precedent for this to stand on it’s like randomly saying the word kazoo a bunch of times bless you By the way i was just employing sarcasm because if you watched the caves and cliffs we had a bunch of chat jokes in there we’re gonna get back to the music So So so chat just to let you know there is going to be another stream after this i’m going to see if i can edit it in the settings to get you straight over there but we’re going to listen to disc 11 and boss because we haven’t listened to Either of those those by request from alessandro ac gave a super chat in our first stream today so thank you alessandra so this was a very interesting opening to this setting the stage for definitely that different feeling that different world when you’re in the nether it is very much a different world okay This next song is called rubido or roberto or rubido or rubedo perhaps i like roberto rubido jamaica ooh i wanna take you so So So It was like very beethoven anything there Johannes you may be right that that movement in arpeggios from the lower thing to then the higher octave is done in moonlight sonata maybe correct oh something’s building now oh very interesting um love that slide Huh Hmm a beautiful build very tastefully done this next one is called so below it’s very low bass oh yo that was cool yo sorry i think that was a larger than a minute third that’s going up to uh a minor second or flat two phrygian a if you will There’s a little micro tunnel too it’s like not it doesn’t sound like it’s hitting it exactly on it Very interesting synth we heard there was almost vocal in its quality Ugh So there you go go go go there’s these very soft drums in your right ear very quiet i should say The drums themselves are quite durable i assume Excuse me this next one is called pig step mono mix now before we head into that i’m gonna explain to you guys the difference between mono and stereo so when we have mono we have all the music is only coming through one channel so there’s one place all the music music is Coming from so to be able to hear all the different parts of the music it’s all stacked essentially vertically so think about you take like 100 or 50 instruments and you put them all up on top of each other just stacked one on top of the other that’s mono And then all you can do with mono is on each individual instrument determine how loud it is how quiet is how much reverb is on it which we talked about in the minecraft aquatic that’s that sort of um echoey sound that makes a sound when there’s less reverb a sound feels closer When there’s more reverb a sound sounds and feels further away so the only way you can actually make a difference between the instruments in mono is with changes of volume and changes of reverb essentially i mean that’s a very simplified version and then stereo you have two channels And because you have two channels what you can do is you can actually spread the instruments out so instead of having 50 or 100 instruments stacked straight on top of each other now you can actually say okay we’ll take this instrument we’re going to put it over Here take this instrument put it over here this instrument put it over here and so what happens is you actually get stereo sound that’s why you hear when we’re listening to the uh the music i’ll say in your right ear and your right headphone you’re hearing whatever in your left ear you’re hearing Whatever oh right here sort of in the middle hearing whatever that’s because there’s stereo and you can play between those two channels and make different things sound like they are in different places so you can think about it like when you see a band the band is spread out on stage that is Stereo versus the band literally stacked on top of each other that is mono so let’s get rocking and rolling with pig step mono mix You can hear everything is right here all the instruments are just stacked on top of each other Oh look out Oh those are the um that’s the same instrument they used on the intro to strawberry fields that that synth that what what it’s not a synth it’s a thing that plays tape loops and those are the flute tape loops they have an abbey road so you press a key And it actually plays a loop of a sound and you have to go rewind it to get more sounds out of it Love the low five vibes here So they actually put an effect on that piano a vinyl effect i think izotope makes a vinyl effect actually Oh yes I’ll love it Oh yeah please snare I love those scents Yeah that thing in the background sounds like the uh shells like when you have a bunch of shells on a string forget the name of it but that actual sound of static you’re hearing is a vinyl effect all right that was a ton of fun now let’s listen to that same thing i Believe in stereo let’s check it out oh dj can i get more of my headphones oh It’s actually slightly detuned so i’m not going to play with the guitar but it’s a good jam let the beat drop oh Oh i do appreciate the stereo difference here no doubt oh yes Oh my goodness No the guitar isn’t detuned the song is oh but good puns there mark This is like a slow burner man i love it Okay that was a ton of fun in the sun for everyone thank you so much for joining me on this lovely listen to the nether update please hit click like subscribe the notification bell you can
