GeminiTay – I Survived 100 Days in a Minecraft Flatworld…

A flat world in Minecraft is exactly what it sounds like flat it’s three layers of dirt and then bedrock and I would normally use these for Creative Mode building but today I want to know what it would be like to survive in one hello everyone I’m Gemini Tay and welcome to today’s

100 days video don’t forget to subscribe if you’re new here welcome to day one in this very flat world luckily for us we spawned in a village which it turns out is our main Lifeline in this world and pretty much the only thing that’s going to be

Keeping us sane this is how we get all our materials sorry villagers after doing the classic punching wood bit we move on to just generally scoping out the village and rating it for materials once again I’m sorry villagers the leather worker librarian and blacksmith are the main helpful buildings we come

Across here at first there are also Golems which are our only source of iron since we cannot go mining in this world just gotta be careful you know they hit her foreign luckily I was able to recover from that very early death with my ego still in

Check so I moved on to scouting out another Village and collecting a few more materials luckily there’s been no shortage of blacksmiths and I was able to plant some more saplings and even make friends with a local horse all is going well I think it’s time for day two

Day two starts off with a little organization I decide that this Village will be just as good a base as any so I set up a just first the slimes start to become a real annoyance at this point so I decided to take my horse for a little

Ride rating Villages is super important right now we need to iron and other supplies really badly so I spend a day and a night out exploring returning home with the goodies on day three speaking of day three here I decide to take some time back at home setting up

Some basic farms for myself most notably a very basic cobblestone generator which we will be upgrading later on don’t worry at this point I have a cobblestone generator and oak sapling and a dream which is great because we’re spending day four and day five at home in the

Base really getting settled in taking down a house for materials and beginning some more basic ferns at this point I’m starting to think about villager trading which is something that’s going to become very important as the world progresses bored of being at home in my little

Village I decide to go see the sights or rather lack thereof but this exploring on day six is where things get interesting the version of Minecraft that I’m using means that in this flat world only a couple of structures can spawn those structures are these basic Villages that we’ve been seeing and very

Rarely strongholds yeah that looks epic I’ve never seen one like this before honestly so cool definitely can’t go to the end yet though no that can’t be doing that I definitely need some ice vendor and some better loot for that but we can take the loot that’s here and keep the location

In mind for the future I sleep through the night in the stronghold and decide to finish checking it out finding the room with the portal and leaving the spawner intact I mean it’s a flat world you don’t see very many spawners I mean maybe it’ll be here you never know it’s

Mostly just annoying but that’s fine we’re gonna head back now to our village and tell the villagers of our great success they don’t seem to care though I think there’s some other Village drama going on or something I don’t know I’ll figure it out eventually a full week has

Now been spent in this world and on day eight I decide to spend some time back at home and create a much better cobblestone generator using some of the iron that I’ve been able to get from bolos happy with this Improvement I decide the village could also use some

Improvements so I remove an outer house on day nine so the village is more condensed into one area on day 10 to make up for all the buildings I’m removing I decide to attempt a little house although I can immediately relate to the villagers because this is ugly if we’re being

Honest but I really don’t have any Vlogs to work with so give me a break that doesn’t stop me from building something even uglier on day 11 though I figure this flat world operates sort of like a Skyblock world and I love Skyblock this means that mob spawners can have

Insanely good rates due to the lack of well anything so I built this classic mob spawner to get drops and XP this takes quite a while since Gathering Oakwood and iron is not exactly the easiest right now the slimes are adding to the challenge but eventually I do get

The general design sort of finished I also tend to make at least one dumb mistake every time I build one of these though and in this case yeah uh the trapdoors aren’t open so it literally can’t work but it’s okay it’s only day 16 and I’m sort of losing my mind and that’s

Probably not good but alas the spotter is complete although I admit it mostly spawns glow squid day 17 rolls around and I take a little break to humble myself after that mob spawner experience spending some quality time with the Villagers and taking down more of their ugly houses apparently

Though I’m still not happy with the Industrial Revolution that I’ve got going so I look up a tutorial for an iron farm and begins with tempt to follow it I say attempt because getting a zombie in a composter is much more difficult than it looks like significantly foreign

I woke up on day 18 took my anger out on a Golem and quickly did some brainstorming on how to make this easier for some unknown reason I decided that getting villagers in would be the next logical step spoiler alert though that this was dumb villagers are dumb I did

Manage to get a couple of villagers learned in by the end of day 19 though so we’ll call that a win for now on day 20 it was raining so I spent most of the day sort of relaxing and just waiting for night we did some basic

Farming worked on the wall that I’m putting around the village for a bit and once night fell it was finally time to get back to work I really needed to get a zombie in the composter but for some reason this was more of a struggle than anything I’ve ever done before on

Minecraft like this is harder than fighting the Ender Dragon I didn’t have name tag so the trick was the zombie that I got in the slot had to be one that was holding in items that it wouldn’t despawn and it needed a slot perfectly into place or it would just leave

All of the tutorials make this look easy but without many normal vanilla materials this is kind of a nightmare morning of day 21 and I still hadn’t got it but I was starting to figure out my method so I would pass time during the day I made myself a little fishing pond

And once night falls it’s back to the zombies my fishing pond had given me the great inspiration to fish a zombie into place which proved mildly successful very mildly let this be a lesson and not celebrating things too early once I had this figured out though it was only a matter of time

Before my plan worked with the fishing rod in hand and a new cat buddy to scare away creepers I was confident I would get it soon perhaps a little too confident because on night 22 this happened with no potion to cure them I was forced to restart the process

This time though with the knowledge of my previous failures combined I’m super powerful now day 23 was spent moving villagers and on night 23 I was almost successful that is if this Iron Golem didn’t spawn it’s comical how many different ways this can actually go wrong on day 24 I

Set a goal by day 25 I wanted to have this Farm up and running for good no more messing around so I started to build a little well calm myself down and by Nightfall I was ready and after just a couple attempts I did it finally I had

A zombie and villagers in the farm day 25 rolls around and I am feeling good we are a quarter of the way through and it’s time to build the collection system for the golems and get some iron rolling in the collection system ends up needing to be a little raised off the

Ground which is unbelievable we can fix the look of it later it’s fine it is now day 26. I am just over a quarter of the way through this Challenge on this day and the next I mostly just fiddle around with the iron farm I didn’t follow the tutorial quite

As well as I should have so it needed some help once that’s done though on day 28 it’s time to set a new goal we have a couple of solid Overworld Farms going now but as we have seen before there are other dimensions that we can explore

Getting somewhere like the nether is a real Challenge in a flat world so today we mostly farm and worry about upgrading our villagers on day 29 I mostly mine for Cobble so that I can build a wall around the village and keep everybody safe this also gives a chance for some

Iron to be farmed and by day 30 I’m feeling ready for the next step which is to find more obsidian you could only find lava and obsidian in blacksmiths in a flat world so I have to search for villages that have this specific building I get pretty lucky though and

On day 31 I get all that I need 10 for the portal and four for a potential few your enchanting table I pillaged The Villages a little more and head home now building a portal is easy lighting it however not so easy day 32 has me attempting to light a wooden plank on

Fire to get a portal lip we can’t get flint luckily I have lava so it is possible it’s just going to take some patience while I wait I catch up on some Village chores and finally unlock my tool Smith for diamond tools emeralds are way easier to get now that

I can trade iron on day 33 I do some more General farming while I wait for wood to burn near my portal and I take down another house eventually I will build more houses but I want to get focused on getting access to more blocks first one day 34 rolls around I find

That my portal is finally lit and ready to go so I prep my things and head to the nether dimension my spawn in the nether is actually very lucky a Bastion is right in front of us there’s a nice warped forest biome and there’s another Fortress not even that

Far away seems like the flat world decided to be nice to us today the flat world’s Mercy is not to be taken for granted though as blazes do in fact still hurt had a little too much confidence here it’s all good though I can pop back in on day 35 and we’ll just

Pretend that that never happened this Fortress was pretty fun to explore although there weren’t that many notable discoveries it was just nice to not be in a flat world netherwart and blaze rods are the main upgrade to come from this so I make a quick Fire Resistance

Potion for safety and go to bed now that I can go to the nether my next objective is to defeat the Ender Dragon to open that portal though we’ll need blaze rods and ender pearls blaze rods are super easy now nailed it ender pearls however we have two options for

Which we’ll get into later because for some reason on day 37 and day 38 I’m just a little bit confused with what I’m doing because you would think I’d go get pearls now but instead I’m I’m building I don’t know I don’t know why I just I

Decided I would build on day 37 and 38 so I finished off my little well with some new blocks if that looks good looks great I start connecting the wall to the Village churches it looks looks good I then decide to take the churches and turn them into defensive Towers

And by day 39 I have to admit the place is looking better although I do need to get back to the mission come on Jen back into the nether we go this time we’re here to get some ender pearls and focus on getting ender pearls I went with this

Method since the Warped Forest is so close by but it could have also just traded with a cleric it took until day 40 to get the pearls that I needed and I could finally leave the nether now that I have all the Eyes of Ender that I need

To take on the dragon it’s really just a matter of feeling prepared enough to fight I decided to set a personal goal of fighting by day 50 as I knew it wouldn’t be a big deal to do the fight with pretty low level gear regardless of that though I still spent the days

Leading up to the fight preparing myself and the village you’ll notice I started planting saplings next to flowers in hopes of some bees spawning to add new life to the place I’m farming lots of wood carrots and iron on day 42 for trading and on day 43 I decide I could smelt a

Lot of the trades that I’m getting from the armorer to get even more iron nuggets it’s not much but it’s better than it taking up room in my storage it’s on day 43 that we also get our first bee family move-in big day in the village I start harvesting from The Hive

Immediately so that we can get even more bees I love bees on day 44 I am extremely distracted by my new bees and to be honest I’m just sort of vibing this is the point where it starts to feel a lot less like a challenge and more just like a really

Fun Minecraft playing experience I would go around the village slowly upgrade things and just generally chill inspired by my bees on day 45 I decide the village needs a little Garden area basically I need to start being able to farm wood carrots and wheat in a place

Where my villagers aren’t so I start fencing a small outside area where the slimes also can’t get in I also finally unlock my very first diamond armor this is hype it has feather falling day 46 goes much the same except more bees spawn so I continue the little Garden

Area trading is getting much easier so we are also able to get our very first diamond ax today not even halfway through and we are starting to look very shiny on day 47 I kicked myself back into gear we need to prep for that fight

If we’re gonna do it by day 50. so I get my diamond chest plate from the villagers and get a bow ready for the fight honestly I won’t really need much some food blocks and a bucket of water will pretty much do it and by day 48 I’m

Ready to go so I pack my things and take my horse and off we go except I almost forgot the most important part the eyes so I turn around grab the eyeballs and off we went again had to sleep in a village overnight though at sorry villagers moving on my lovely horse gets

To stay behind below and off I go towards the portal this fight is not too eventful really but I do want to quickly Flex how much I’ve improved with a bow look at those shots heck yeah dragon fight went well pretty standard stuff I didn’t really do any fancy fight

Tactics just straightforward slapping it in the tail once the fight is over we collect the egg and it’s time for the real challenge I brought some blocks and some rockets and hope so we find an elytra today and also some good Diamond gear the first city I rated didn’t have

Much so I moved on I really dislike bridging over the void so this felt like it took forever but I did eventually find a city with a light draw on day 51 and then things got a lot easier look at me go with my new wings

I went off to find one more spare pair of Elijah just in case and a little bit more gear and I ended up with quite a few diamonds which are very rare on super flat so hyped for that on day 52 I decided it was time to head home and

Tell the villagers about this adventure the villagers once again don’t seem too fussed about my stories so I put away my things and they slowly growing chest monster and decide to immediately put my diamonds to use making an enchanting table this will be a huge upgrade for us

It’s day 53 before I get the enchanting table installed though but once it’s there it’s so lovely I can get lapis from the cleric and my mob spawner gives me more than enough levels look at my little happy dance I can’t believe we are already halfway through this challenge

Speaking of halfway I think it’s time we start on the major upgrades I’m a builder after all so let’s build my villager or some things starting with this Central house that needs an upgrade I take it partially down and invite some villagers inside to get Librarians to trade with my lights red desperately

Needs mending these things don’t last very long I need more books though so it’s time for a quick flight to the stronghold and that also gives me a chance to bring my horse home day 55 is pretty much just me rolling trades with the hopes of getting mending

Luckily I do as well as Unbreaking which is massively helpful now that our Librarians are sorted it’s time to get building I chopped a bunch of wood and got to work improving this village house I also realized that I got a silk touch pickaxe from the end now I

Can very easily get stoned which is so handy for foundations on day 57 I had a pretty basic brick roof and it’s finally starting to look a little better although I would do anything at this point for a wood that isn’t Oakwood or Netherwood my intention was to have this

Building be for librarians so on day 58 I cleared out the room inside a little bit for them to stay there I did however accidentally make this into a villager trap So eventually just all of my villagers end up in here you’ll see that happen slowly I am day 58 by moving my

Cows over to the farming area just to continue sort of organizing things the organization feeling overflows into day 59 and I start that day by using my silk touch ax to move my bees to a better location then I remember that I can dye sheep with flower hours don’t ask me why

It took me so long for me to remember this so I organized my sheep as well to be honest with you by day 60 I had organized nearly everything except myself I am the problem so I decided to set a new and much larger goal I want a

Base a big castle base where I could store my things and take care of the village so on day 60 I literally spend the entire day mining Stones so we can do this day 61 is where the work begins first we need to take down the buildings

That are in the way I decide the castle can go nearby where my storage already is since that’s kind of where I naturally set up I end the day with a little trading break and then it’s back to work on day 62. now that I have this

Big goal in mind the days are flying by I am so hyped for this build an outline is the first step to a base plan so on day 63 I start outlining what I want I’m inspired here by an old Grand Castle layout basically just six towers

In a straight line I figure a fairly simple castle like this will be something I can do in a reasonable amount of time after all we’re already on day 63 and I want to actually live in this Castle before the 100 days are up day 64 is much the same we just continue

Building up from the outline the slimes are mildly annoying though so the faster I can get this wall up the better on day 65 I make the important choice of picking a color for our village and Castle I go with red because it matches the glazed terracotta that when there are villagers sell

We are deep into the building process now and I am so excited for this Castle there is just something so special and nostalgic about building a castle for a survival base I honestly ended up mostly laying this out exactly as I think I would have when I was a kid which was

Fun I spent a lot of time at the stone grinder getting supplies and the villagers were looking at me kind of funny but the walls are getting higher and more epic by the day and on day 69 I start laying floors and finally get some colors in our roofs the

Bright red is a nice contrast and on Day 70 the details start including some windows although I don’t have a ton of normal blocks I’m actually starting to enjoy the challenge of all of the different ways that I can use Oakwood and stone kind of feels like 2012

Minecraft again I don’t hate it quick end of day 70 flight yep that’s good progress Castle is going well it’s time to get more of the actual details in the castle though so day 71 starts with me buying some glazed terracotta from a villager and then I grind a little bit

More Stone and work on the walls while contemplating the build process all my thinking on day 71 led me to finally do some organizing on Day 72. by that I mean I literally spent the entire day organizing a storage area in the main room of the castle I have so much random

Junk and also diamonds so I decorated with some diamonds it’s a weird Flex since the villagers don’t really understand they like emeralds but I like it so it stays on day 7 23 we began getting more specific about the details adding mossy cobblestone around our little entrance Fountain and moving the

Portal to a better location with the portal moved it’s time to go get some new building blocks Blackstone now I could have had a very epic build by just draining the nether of all its resources but I’m trying to keep the influence of the other dimensions low so that my base

Build is more of a challenge with restricted blocks Blackstone from the piglens felt like a fair game though as it goes with my red color theme speaking of which on day 74 it’s time to work on that really large Tower I want this one to stand out the most so I work

With a black to Red gradient which I actually really like it’s a nice contrast and I think glazed terracotta is criminally underrated I mean look at it we are now on to day 75 big milestone probably the last big milestone before the day 100 so I spend the day

Continuing work on the castle details getting things pretty much finished I also decide since I am the only sign of intelligent life in this world I get to be Queen so I made myself a throne room by day 76 the castle was nearing completion however the sound of slime

Still haunts the villagers and I so I decided then and there that we needed to start working on finishing the wall around the village I found some carrots while I think of the design and eventually resigned to the stone generator to get supplies construction on the wall starts bright and early on

Day 77 and I go with a mix of cobblestone stone brick and some oak logs for a medieval castle-like design I figure it ties in well with the surroundings and I like it because the slimes can’t see us from outside the wall now I get halfway around and take

One look at my iron farm though and I realize that is an extremely ugly eyesore I will not be having that around my castle so I fix it which takes well into day 78 to complete but look it’s way better now I suppose I wouldn’t be a very good

Queen if I built a castle and let my villagers just fend for themselves so now it’s time to transform another village house this time a farmhouse it looks pretty good and also gives me the idea to start Transforming Our villagers for better traits for that though I need

Potions and golden apples so it’s often another inserts of a mushroom which I came by pretty easily luckily and then returned back to the Overworld to try to find sugar you can only get sugar in witches from a flat world so tonight my horse and I are going to have to do a

Battle for sugar luckily the first witch I killed drops it so I guess it’s not really much of a battle that brings us today 80 we can now easily Brew the weakness potion we need and begin on an underground tunnel to do the transformation a little creepy but

It’ll do the job and by Nightfall I can learn annual zombie in and get the transformation process started I probably should have done this sooner but I kind of forgot how easy it is villagers are overpowered on day 81 all three of my villagers are cured they love me emeralds are super

Easy to come by now I decide since we are on the final 19 days we may as welcome to New flexing so I set up some armor stands showing off my fancy gear it’s looking pretty good at this point I’ve got pretty much any Minecraft player’s dream a good castle

Base lots of diamonds a food source a wall to keep out danger but I was craving a challenge so I decided day 82 was a good day to pick a fight with some piglets I am using their Stone in my castle after all I go after them in a

Pretty wimpy manner shooting as many brutes as I can and then sneaking around and looting chess and gold they had pretty solid loot but nothing crazy although I probably did leave before getting it all as a full day and nether was enough for me and I was ready to go

Home again I got some building blocks though that I’m happy to decorate with and yes I am decorating with ancient debris day 83 brings a sense of calm I do some general chores until I hear the Glorious noise wondering Trader a Wandering traitor I was so excited but

Unfortunately this guy didn’t bring any sugar cane no Cactus not even a new sapling I bought what he had anyway and the puzzle will be good for farming mushrooms it just could have been better you know I do decide to kidnap the Traders llamas we don’t have any llamas

And a new animal to have around is always welcome it’s at this point though that I realize our Stables are a bit of a mess so that’s the next project day 84 has us transforming these Stables into something more usable for my horse and new llamas I go with the classic Barn

Shaped roof which balances out all of the triangle roofs well overall I enjoyed this design and it fits with the middle of our village very well the next day is pretty simple I farmed some trees to restock after building so much and then I add on some new blocks and

Texture to the castle walls it’s looking a little bit dull and although this doesn’t help much it’s better than nothing day 86 is more building we’ve got two villager houses left not transformed so I decide that they should get the priority next I made a pretty

Simple Shack on this day and then on day 87 I made a slightly larger house for some potential future villagers I like the look of both of these it’s nice to slowly see the village being transformed day 88 sees more organization with me moving the enchanting table inside the

Castle and making it look kind of Pretty in the process then fixing up my rather ugly starter house that I made quite a long time ago now I kind of realize here that the oak wood has sucked the color out of everything so I decided to go in

With some Market stands to add some life back into the village they are bright and beautiful on day 89 I make cute little beetroot field and by now things are really coming together the place is beautiful farming though reminds me how annoying the slimes are I decide we should do

Something about the outside of our village as well on day 90 I ask myself what if the flat world wasn’t flat yes I am going slightly insane I terraform some very tiny hills around the back of the castle just to make it look a little bit more interesting then I decide that

Every good Castle needs a moat we do legitimately have a real reason for remote though it can stop the slimes so I carve out around the back of the castle and then head to the nether to grab some magma blocks to make the moat legit placing these below the water will

Kill slimes and look at two birds one stone this project continues into day 91 where I start placing in the water this is where it’s important to note that because my castle theme is red I’ve been calling it poppy Castle we have a lot of

Extra poppies and so I spend the rest of my day planting them outside waking up on day 92 I take a look at my work and am extremely pleased so please in fact that I decide we need to map The Village this is an awkwardly placed Village

Though so it does take four Maps but I eventually get it looking great and I place it in my throne room day 93 is here and I finally remember that you can craft diorite and a site and granite I craft some just for fun but to be honest we’re doing fine

Without it I also grabbed some drip Stone from my Mason as I think the option of having spiky walls outside could be fun now some real work can begin and the towers around the village are looking a little plain so I decorate them to match the castle and I’m

Genuinely super happy with how these came out before long it’s night time again and the days are starting to go by so fast now it’s already day 94. today I continue my mission of making the outside of the village fancy I’m expanding the farming fields we need more farming space anyways and Fields

Always look good so I spent all of Day 94 and day 95 planting these fields and making them look perfect for a relaxing stroll through after a long day being Queen of the castle some trees also get planted on the outside purely for Decor I missed the site of forest in Minecraft

Missing the forest gave me an idea so I wake up refreshed on day 96 and began getting the materials to make my very own custom trees I’m making a very simple version of an Italian cypress tree where you can simply place a log up the center and add leaves as you go up

The tree thicker at the Basin and thinner at the top because these are so easy to make I am able to make quite a few of them on this day dotted around the village day 97 however has me feeling kind of lonely I miss having the villagers

Around so it’s time to let them out to explore first though let’s spend the day designing a Street Lamp so that they are definitely safe from zombies and now that we have the iron I can go a little crazy with lanterns if I want to after

Updating my map I decide that my mob spawner could also use a little Decor so some pixel art is in order that’s better sub to gem day 98 is exciting because we are finally releasing the villagers to see all the work that I’ve put in I fix up

An interior for them and overall they seem thrilled with the place I place a few more poppies and generally just spend this day chilling with the Villagers I think I deserve it it’s day 99 everyone I start the day by rescuing my villagers from The Stables

Where they had gotten stuck but to be honest I wouldn’t have it any other way these are my favorite idiots I then decided to finish up a room in the castle and I fill it with memories of the 100 days each of these item frames represents an important Milestone

That we made it through see if you could tell what they all are it’s now my final sleep of this challenge so I spent one last evening watching the sunset over the flat world while in Iron Golem dies nearby peaceful and here we are it’s day 100 we did it
