Hello my name is green and today i’m going to be building a pretty cool house up in the hills the key feature of this one is the fact that it’s built in to the landscape itself so that the house sits on multiple levels so obviously the first thing that you Need to do with any build but this one in particular is find the right spot and i found one nestled in this birch forest as you can see there’s this big mountainside or hill that juts out out of nowhere and there’s tons of these in minecraft so they shouldn’t be too Difficult to find but once you have got it there’s usually lots of holes and caves and ravines around so the first thing to do is completely cover those up and tidy up the area i’ve also removed all of the trees for the sake of this video however i also suggest that for The purposes of the build that you remove the trees as well and it will supply you with some resources right the next thing is to cut in quite literally steps into this mountain make sure you go pretty far back from the top and mark how far down you want to go Maybe five or six blocks and then about halfway you want to make a second step down the mountain it is not going to look pretty for quite a while the first thing we are doing is hand terraining which means cutting out by hand all of The trees and all of this dirt and we’re going to have to tidy it up later this is by far the most time-consuming thing of this build but it does help us plan where everything is going to go my hill in particular has two different Sides to it that jut out with a quite narrow piece in the middle i’m going to build the house on the right hand side of this build on the first step i’m going to making a very simple box house but the framework is higher at the back Than it is at the front this will allow us to build a pretty cool entrance on the very top of the mountain i’m then going to build a second slightly smaller box and frame on the second step lower down this sort of design almost forces Us to use the y coordinate when we make our shape which is something i’ve been trying to teach for quite a while the next thing is obviously fill in the walls and then we will make the roof itself so i’ve gone for two different styles of roof but i’m keeping the same Cobblestone overhang and the wooden framing along with a dark oak mix in the middle but the main thing about this build is not the style that i’m making now or even the palette the main thing is that it spread over two different steps cut into the terrain in this mountain This works with multiple styles and it just makes for a really nice looking house i’ve even got some different examples to show you at the end of the video so what i’m making sure that i do is create an entrance at every single level of this build including right at The top which means making a little extra entrance with a roof and some more framing on the top of my shed-like build that i made on the first step i’ve used a different shape roof for every single part of this build it helps create disparity but it also just helps It look a bit different as you go along you’ll also notice that the orientation of the roof changes which also helps make the build look a bit better we’re going to leave the build in its current under detailed state right now to focus on the terrain because all of this on The left is what’s going to make this build look particularly nice i’ve created a quick staircase going between the steps but the main thing is not to leave it at blank right angles for each bit of the terrain what we need to do is make it look slightly more Natural however no matter how hard we tinker with this it will never look like vanilla terrain and that’s okay we want it to look special so the first thing that i’m doing is just adding more grass blocks to the first layer putting some dirt underneath it and some Stone underneath that creating more land for us to work with and then replacing any of the dirt diorite or stone with some grass as well either side of the staircase i’ve also spammed a bunch of different cobblestone slabs staircase and full block to make some man-made landscaping so we have these two steps To deal with still and even on the third one we want to create this good looking overhang that will look as natural as we can get bearing in mind that we probably won’t get it as close to vanilla as possible on the largest of our steps there’s quite a significant overhang Which you may find difficult to do obviously it’s a lot easier for me because i can fly in creative if you’re doing this in survival it’s a lot harder to get up there and replace all of those blocks but nevertheless once all three steps are terrain correctly the build Really starts to look good especially as we’ve come a long way from those very harsh right angled steps next thing that we’re doing is creating a little fence or barricade just so we don’t fall off the edge of the cliff all of the time i’ve opted to use a very custom looking very Messy looking cobblestone wall that consists of a different slab or staircase or cobblestone wall all the way around until you’ve got the shape and of course you can use normal fences or fence gates or a mixture including cobblestone wall i just thought that something a bit more unique Would fit in with the theme of this build as it is fairly rustic and it’s a wooden house and it’s got a lot of cobblestone in it if you’ve made a modern house using this technique then definitely do something different the last thing to do to kind of finish off The pathway here is to literally add a pathway with a shovel just plow down the grass into the lovely sort of oak shaded leaf color i really like the look of the path block once you’ve done that now it’s time to reaffirm ourselves to fix our build obviously in its undetailed state it Doesn’t look particularly good but with some easy tricks you can make this house or any house look pretty damn good so i’ve added a bunch of buttons some flower pots and some normal glass inside the walls with a trapdoor either side and having done just one wall it’s very Easy then just to slot the same techniques in over and over again to detail the rest of this build buttons are something that i often forget to use in detailing but they make a huge difference even just pasting them four in a row underneath a window just Fills in the space and gives it a bit more 3d and depth to it adding flowers is a great way to add some color to your builds and requires less detailing than perhaps normal adding more pathways and even some staircases above the doors adds shape to The build so you can see how these very simple detailing techniques work really well with this particular build obviously if you’ve used a different style you might not have the same effect and to top it off quite literally i’m adding my very own cobblestone chimney which i Usually do on all builds that are of this style or of wooden origin i just think it’s a really nice way to add some height to the build and to finish it off of course it serves no actual chimney purpose it is all aesthetic so you can See from the back of the hill the build doesn’t look like much but as soon as you start to come around into the terracing the terrain and the build suddenly come into light and look very very nice on the inside of this build there’s not an Actual lot of space however the idea and the concept of this build to use a hill to your advantage and cut in some steps is the key to this video so that’s it but i’ve got another example to show you in a different style to illustrate how This terrain is used so as you can see i’ve got a different looking house but it’s using the same concept that i just went over it’s got an entirely different palette a different shape and a different layout it’s even way bigger than the one that i Just went over however what it shares in common are these multiple steps that make their way up the mountain and you can see that a lot more time and attention and detail has gone into the hand terrain so as you can see it doesn’t quite matter how complex or what Style your build is in if you have multiple steps that make their way down the mountain you can utilize that y coordinate and make some brilliant looking shapes even if you segment up your house like i did and the example here that pearl has made it works really really well and the Concept is similar to what you might see in real life in the very famous ancient city of machu picchu and having said that if you guys like this video and you like this concept i would be more than happy to make an entire town out of this Concept to show you how we can take this step thing even further with working in natural vanilla terrain so if you want to see that video in particular make sure you leave a comment down below and leave a like on this video as that’s how i know What you want to see a big thank you to pearl for making this secondary example of the terrain house type thing i don’t even know what to call it because it’s so versatile but you can use this as a mountainous house in any sort of style all you need is Some very good looking natural terrain to work with thank you very much for watching everyone and good bye Video Information
