HoldenRiot – HOW TO PLAY MINECRAFT IN VR! [Windows 10 & Java Edition Setup Guide]

Hey everyone today i’m going to be walking you through step by step on how you can play minecraft in virtual reality let’s check it out so to play minecraft in vr there are just a few requirements number one own a vr headset number two own either the microsoft version

Of minecraft or the java edition of minecraft if you play the java edition of minecraft five craft will be needed to play in vr so first we’ll be looking at how to play minecraft in vr using the microsoft store version the windows 10 version of minecraft

To find out if you have the windows 10 version of minecraft you can go to your system start bar and search microsoft store then in the top right hand corner here click my library if you see minecraft for windows 10 in the library then you have the microsoft edition of minecraft

If you don’t see minecraft in your microsoft store library then you may own the java edition which i’ll be covering in the next time stamp in this video so for microsoft store version owners step one connect and start up your vr headset then from within vr launch minecraft

Now we’ll be looking at how you can play minecraft in vr if you own the java edition of minecraft one have java installed two steam with steamvr installed and configured three a steamvr compatible headset such as the htc vive oculus rift s valve index or windows mr headset or a

Non-compatible headset such as oculus quest 2 request 1 gear vr google cardboard vive vocus or psvr and a properly configured steamvr emulator software 4. have launched minecraft in non-vr mode at least one time 5. have vivecraft downloaded and installed so step one you’re going to make sure that you have java installed

You can go to java.com en download and download the latest version of java or you can click the link in the video description below once that’s downloaded go ahead and run the installer and then we’ll move on to step two step two have steam with steamvr installed and configured you can get

This in the video description below i just googled steam download and you can install it next you’ll want to ensure that you have steamvr you can get it from the video description below or you can search steamvr in the steam store step three is easy just make sure you have a steamvr

Compatible headset step four launch your minecraft java edition at least one time in non-vr mode and then you can go ahead and quit game and for step five we’re going to download and install vivecraft the link to download vivecraft will be in the video description of course

We’re going to go ahead and navigate to the current version and from github we are going to run and download the installer.exe for vivecraft once that’s done downloading go ahead and run the installer and before you hit the install button please make sure that your minecraft launcher is not running and is closed

After installing vivecraft open your minecraft launcher again and go to installations there you should see vivecraft listed with releases and modded checked then with your headset connected click play and that’s it i personally own both the minecraft windows 10 edition as well as the job edition as you saw in this video demonstration

I personally prefer using the java version with vivecraft the reason being is i think it’s just has a cleaner ui your health hunger and hotbar items are on your arm versus versus a stationary ui that i often found to be in the way using the windows 10 version of the game

So if you want to play minecraft in vr and don’t already own minecraft consider picking up the java edition maybe instead of the microsoft version for that reason but if you already have the microsoft windows 10 version of minecraft that’ll work just fine as you saw in this video
