Hour of Code 2021 (Timecraft) – MINECRAFT EDUCATION

Okay everybody and welcome back to learn with  minecraft education today we are going to be   looking at the hour of code 2021 timecraft and  this is an awesome new lesson that was uploaded   last week we’re going to walk through it all the  time stamps to the various different activities  

Will be down below so you can take a look at  those spoiler alert this is probably one of the   best lessons that’s ever been uploaded included  for use in this so let’s dive in take a look we’re going to launch this one from  our home screen um i would advise

First off you start in this little room now this  like i said before this is probably the coolest   lesson that has uh ever ever been uploaded there’s  so many cool new assets that are in here now  

Um you get this awesome i think this must be a  retextured barrier block or something like the   way it faces towards you but it’s animated as well  it’s just awesome uh cinematic intro i’ve said   awesome a lot probably should cut down a little  bit though here we go for this little introduction  

We’ve got a spaceship docking in here to our space  station and it’s docking in so we’re going to do   this little walkthrough to start with that just  tells you to use air was indeed to move around  

Avoid the ladders if you know what you’re doing  press the button to open the door uh great you’re   here things seem to be going wrong in time para  thanks tara and you can at this point choose to  

Use blocks or you can choose to use python  we’re going to do this tutorial in blocks   i think most people will be doing blocks  so we’re going to go through and choose a   time agent now it doesn’t matter which one you  choose all the lessons you do are exactly the  

Same oh yeah press c so it says you successfully  deployed your agent and i’ll click the green   arrow to carry on so we’re going to learn how  to code the agent now thanks tara let’s try   coding our agent press c to code so we’re just  going to move our agent forward three blocks  

Simple stuff well done um so now tara talks to us  no time to lose follow me to the timeline computer   to help fix these splits all right so here’s the  first time split we’ve got a picture there of a  

Kazoo and it’s a little animation there telling  us to press the button follow the little blips   over here tara’s chatting to us again he’s a time  spot to travel i only have enough power to travel   three times ah yeah in this time split a soon to  be famous jasmine musicians musician traveled to  

New york city in the 1920s to save jazz so let’s  uh go down see what’s happening in 1920s new york   it’s awesome sorry i keep saying awesome you  get this really good uh animation and sound   effects and you were whisked off to 1920s new  york getting booed off the stage because he’s  

Playing a kazoo instead of a trumpet and in  front of us you can see on the wall here that   we need to get the agent to collect the trumpet so  let’s press c it’s going to enter in the official  

Coding solution to this one i want to  make my coding big so you guys can see it   at home start and then we want  to agent move forward by one   agent move uh then agent move forward by  two cool then we’ve got agent forward by two  

Agents up by two agent four by one and agent  collects all off the agent goes yeah of course   it works uh thank you how i’ve missed my trumpet  what do we gotta do amazing work you’ve repaired  

Moments in time the future of jazz music is saved  that’s great news so oh we’ve detected a secret   my scan has revealed a hidden button somewhere  in this area to show me where it is it’s up here  

All right so now you found the hidden button  it appears a secret room has been revealed in   this area it must be the culprit’s hideout  what is this it looks like our culprit is   a time agent oh plot twist got to get to the  bottom of this all right then remember the clue  

And then we’ll finish there so we’ve got uh  yeti over here and rascal one of them is the   cold prince so let’s remember those names yeti  and rascal and mission and then we’ll shoot back   to our current time dimension i don’t know  what it’s called welcome back those images of  

Agents could focus including got me in the name  understood we’ll keep a close watch on the time   agent good right so we’re gonna go back to the  time computer now and you’ll see we’ve got all  

Of these other lessons have been made available to  us just go through an order so uh this one looks   like something to do with the desert and pyramids  and stuff and we’re going to time jump in there  

And go to our next coding solution he’s realized  that cubes are not good someone’s messed around   with the plans uh to program your agent to  create a triangle okay then pete three times   and then agent place back agent move up by one  agent turn left this is the apparently the the  

Advanced solution we’re doing three separate move  forward by ones and the agent plays back seems   like a bit of a long way around to me but fine off  he goes why has to turn around i don’t know hmm  

It has a sturdy base but it rises and comes to  a point genius secret detected ah and i think   if my memory serves me correctly it’s over here  yeah there’s our button and that’s opened a secret  

Room where we will get two more two more agents to  detect ah so this time we’ve got banshee and yeti   uh so it must be yeti brass on yeti for  being the guy that’s messing up all the   time continuum splits let’s go back to the  computer this first one has changed from a  

Kazoo to a trumpet this one’s changed from a cube  to a pyramid and here we’ve not we’ve got to go   into outer space go to the time pod moon mission  i found a time split where the apollo 11 rocket is  

Stuck in orbit and will never make it to the moon  i’m into this i’m into this um i’ll be honest i’ve   done this lesson with a few of my classes they  love it they absolutely love it and like i said  

This is really so engaging and everything works  it’s not glitchy we have just received a message   from apollo 11. the landing navigation date has  been deleted okay 425 turn right forward 17 and  

Down three uh our agent needs to get all the way  over there let’s make 4 25 right 17 and down three   forward by 25 uh agent turn right forward by 17  agent turn right move down by three let’s run it  

Off he goes just remember guys if you want to  watch a specific i’m going to do all of the   lessons but if you want to watch a specific one  use the time stamps at the bottom to find the  

One that you’re stuck on or you need help with we  did it as a team i think i kind of did it really   scanning ah secret detected yeah there it is is  it here yeah there is well it’s yeti isn’t it  

All right we’re back it is yeti fantastic work  you’ve repaired the timeline but just barely all   right i need to put gremlin back in his pod there  you go oh yes he’s in trouble look at him in there  

He’s in trouble clap clap you figured it out  i’m the culprit but you’re too late i’ll be   back crikey that’s off he goes look it’s going  to cause more problems with the time continuum   well that’s frustrating uh but at least we’ve  got him um and by the way it’s not always the  

Same person so when you replay this uh depending  on who you choose it’ll be a different culprit   each time so when you’re ready use your talk  device to replay this game all right so here’s  

Now what we do we use talk device and we  go replay we need to do part of this first   bit again let’s just go ahead and use rascal this  time so we can now go through and do the remaining  

One two three four five six seven of these  different timelines the great wall of china fine   let’s jump up here and uh get the  get the stuff planted down five times   then we’re going to do agent place down i’m gonna  do agent move four bar one bit apparently just  

Placing that one line there oh the rest of  it the rest of them do them automatically ah   there we go secret button found  let’s go ahead and say it’s yeti   and the picture’s changed to a finished great  wall of china next is the mona lisa good uh so

Number five um it looks like the culprit destroyed  the mona lisa’s fountain ah where is the fountain   there it is down there uh we want onstart  we want a repeat five times in between them  

We want an agent to turn i want an agent in each  of them in each of them agent place down uh place   off you go oh isn’t that looking better  fountain’s looking good i can see something  

There it is uh so we think it’s pixie aren’t we  understood we’ll keep a close watch on that time   agent this got my students very excited because  they think it looks like the battle bus um right

First flights okay quite a lot code for this one  by those things united states of america 1900s   a lot of holes in this runway that’s all  right so onstart right click and duplicate to   repeat that and then inside each of those inside  each of the repeat twos and duplicates he goes  

Filling in all the holes good man oh there it is   oh there’s a secret room here’s the secret  room first computer scientist uh time split   number seven right back in time to london  england in the 1800s apparently which is when  

Or 1800 not the 1800s i don’t know a microscope  or something i don’t know use the talk device   start activity kojo destroy the brown  blocks to make the cards work one don’t turn off camera just  turned off because it got bored  

Uh selected time split are the bears we’re gonna  do the bears now going back to kind of prehistoric   humans now six repeat six let’s zoom  in a bit so you can see what’s going on   repeat six one and then agent move  forward by four so every four blocks

Off he goes wolf’s keen he’s going after it  wolf congratulations we repaired the time split   ah there it is good and it’s open a secret room  down here for us so time to do this dinosaur one   split number nine paleontology puzzle get  through this in an hour an hour of code  

I guess they’re supposed to do the hour  the first three in an hour oh this is the   skeleton and there’s its tail there’s its  head okay so we’ve got an agent repeat four   times then we’ve got agent move forward  down and then we’ve got an agent place  

Down goes digging and replacing yeah  now we’ve got a complete skeleton   i did over here one of my students saying it was  in his neck there he is elements of discovery wow   go to the time pod could it be marie curie by any  chance she was quite famous wasn’t she there’s  

The agent so look it’s highlighting that block  up there so we need to get up there don’t we so   and agent move up by one and agent move forward  by four and agent destroy left run it so he’s  

Moving up there turning and destroying time split  repaired oh that is hidden away look at that one there we go now look okay select a time split now  the problem is ah because you only get three jumps  

And this is not a multiple of three i’m now stuck  having done uh just one of them and feeling oddly   dissatisfied i would like some kind of reward  for doing all 10. but yeah that’s all 10 done
