Villagers in minecraft are one of the most important mobs in the game but getting lots of them for trading and populating villages can be difficult so in this video i’m going to show you everything you need to know about how to breed villagers and how to make an automatic villager breeder let’s check It out so how does villager breeding actually work well if two villagers become willing to breed and there’s also enough beds in the area then they will successfully breed giving you a baby villager but of course it’s a lot more complicated than that so let’s first talk about willingness the willingness For a villager to breed now of course for villagers to breed you have to have two villagers that are willing but how do you make two villagers willing to breed well all you have to do is give them the correct foods so there’s four different types of foods that can make Villagers willing to breed there are bread carrot potato and beetroot something that’s actually interesting is that bread can be crafted by farmer villagers if they have enough wheat and given to other villagers to help them breed now the reason why i have these numbers here is because three bread is Enough to make a villager willing to breed or 12 carrots potatoes or beetroot so one of these stacks of things can be enough to make them breed but once they’ve read this amount of items is also removed from their inventory so let’s say we gave this villager these 43 Pieces of bread and after it breeds it’ll basically only have 40 pieces of bread and so on and so forth but because villagers trade around food items things can be different now you can see these two villagers are now in love mode and they’re both willing you can tell that By the hearts above them but you’ll only know if there’s a successful breed if of course there’s a baby villager and that can only happen if there’s enough beds in the village so for instance if two villagers have hearts like this and you just saw that there’s kind of like these Negative symbols like you saw right there what that means that means there’s not enough beds in the village to populate the entire village and that basically has to do with the second mechanic that makes villagers breed which is bed count now if two villagers are willing to breed and it fails like That that means that there’s not enough beds in the village i sort of like to think of it like a hotel where basically if there’s a hotel with tons and tons of different beds in it but every single one of them is full because they’re fully booked well the hotel will have no Vacancy and so they can’t get any more people into it and that’s exactly how villages work so if you have enough villagers there’s one villager for every single bed in the village well they can’t get any more babies because then they’d basically be having babies that Would never have a place to sleep or wouldn’t have room for them in the village so villagers are quite smart that way so what you can do to fix this is simply get yourself some beds and if your breeds are failing like that within the radius of the village simply put Down a whole bunch of beds just like this and this will make the villagers think that there’s now this many more houses or basically places for the villagers to be for instance here at place down 10. so when the villagers are willing to breed they would get a baby Villager up to 10 different baby villagers over time until the village is fully full if they have enough food so those are the two mechanics that have to do with how villagers breed now as bread works a little bit better than beed root potatoes and carrots i would suggest Giving your villagers that to make them breed but there is one other mechanic that makes villagers be willing to breed now villagers can be made willing to breed without food but they will not actually successfully breed unless they do have food on them what you can do to Make them want to breed is by actually trading with them so if you trade with the villager that will make them be willing to breed and so let’s say you have two villagers that are wanting to breed just like maybe these two are right now i have no idea Let’s say they want to and let’s say they both have food on them but they’re not actually breeding what you can do is you can trade with them and that should make them breed especially if you trade with both villagers so if you have maybe a very simple village or breeder it Could be wise to have some trades set up if they’re not breeding with each other so you can trade with both villagers and make them breed successfully now when two villagers do breed and spawn in a baby villager the baby villagers clothes are actually determined by two things First of all by the parents let’s say both parents are desert villagers just like this but they generate over in let’s say a plane’s biome when there’s a 50 chance the villager will be a desert villager based on its parents and a 50 chance it’ll be a plains biome villager Based on the biome that it was in and this is different in bedrock edition where basically the villagers clothes are completely determined by the biome which it generates in so let’s say that you have two planes villagers breed in the desert biome in the bedrock edition they would always always always have Desert villagers because they’re in the desert biome so that’s quite an interesting difference between the two versions there if you want your villagers to look a specific way it might be wise to make your villagers go to a certain biome to breed as then you’ll have a 100 chance of that type Whereas let’s say you want desert villagers in the plains biome and you have those two desert villagers breed in the plains biome then you could be getting 50 planes and 50 desert when all you wanted were desert villagers also when two villagers breed and they generate in a baby villager that baby Villager will stay a baby for exactly 20 minutes then it will grow up into an adult villager like this at that point they can get a job and you can trade with them if you try trading with a baby villager you get this very cute little animation where they shake their head And kind of go because you can’t trade with them that of course is the same thing that happens with unemployed and nitwit villagers unlike a villager with a trade like this farmer right here so those are the main mechanics of how villagers breed now onto the important part how do you Actually make a villager breeder to encompass all these things in one area now something you could do is you could just make a pit put two villagers in it fill it full of beds and just throw food at them but there’s much easier and better ways of doing this so this is Probably the best villager breeder design i know of it does not automatically generate food for the villagers but that’s pretty well of little importance considering how little food these villagers will consume upon breeding so basically i’ll show you guys how to build this farm design right now you’re Going to want to start by finding the place you want your villager breeder to be and to build up three blocks with glass so three there three there three just like i’m not like there but three there and three there so you have this kind of tube Now you want to put three slabs of any type on top of it like this and you want to place a fence on the side of the slab here not on the glass here because if these things stick out you know you’ve done it wrong you want it up here like This then place four beds around here just like this making sure the pillow is on the corner so like for instance you would not want it with the pillow being something like this but of course it’d be kind of hard to place it that way anyway so simply just place it like this And you should be good now get yourself some trapdoors and when facing inwards look down right click like this and do that all the way around here like this that’ll make it so that when you flip these trapdoors up they will go inward like that now get yourself some purple Carpets in fact any type of carpet just purple’s my favorite color and put it around here just like that on top of the head of the bed and now that is basically this part of it done now what we’re going to do is we’re going to make the collection chamber down here so You’re going to want to go to the bottom of the breeder here on any side and break some blocks then replace this bottom block here with a sandstone now what we’re going to do is we’re going to break these two blocks here and we’ll just break a couple more blocks Around here for visibility and put powered rails here here and here we’ll temporarily get rid of this glass and put this here now we’re going to break this block right down here and this block here this will fall down so we’ll just place a solid block there And i’ll place powered rails here and here you’ll notice this one goes up into this block and this one goes up over here that’s really important to make sure this is facing up and this is facing up now we can break this block here replace this glass here so now Those rails are in the right pattern just like that we’re gonna put a detector rail here and some powered rails here going to the rest of your village or maybe a villager trading hall now we’re gonna do is we’re gonna dig down two blocks here get our dispenser and place it right Here facing towards this rail then we’re gonna get a hopper place it into the side of the dispenser there and get a double chest and put that right here you’ll want to get a large amount of mine carts and fill those mine carts up in the chest here so put them all up In here so we have this completely full and this will of course drain down into there and into there we’re going to break this block here and put down a redstone dust and replace these blocks here put a lever right here and basically the villager breeder is Done but of course how do you actually use it now first i’ll start by demonstrating it and then i’ll show you how to actually get these villagers to breed so the first thing you’re going to want to do is actually get villagers in your village or breeder of course this Doesn’t magically spawn villagers so the trick of what you’re going to want to do is to basically kind of build a tower something up like this or maybe a large slope something just like this and then of course put some powered rails on there and you’ll want to get your Villagers into a mine cart and then get them spat out here you can kind of push them into there another thing you can do as well is wait till it’s nighttime have the villagers be in a mine cart right here the second you break that they should hop right into the bed because It’s nighttime and basically get locked into the villager breeder but overall it’s pretty simple to get the villagers in there as it’s not something like let’s say a zombie they have to worry about despawning and now this villager breeder is almost done the last thing is to get some scaffolding maybe some Blocks or just a little elevator type thing and put down some scaffolding right here it’s just going to give you easy access to these villagers and we’re going to do is get yourself a large amount of bread again you could do carrots potatoes or beetroot but bread Is the most efficient throw that bread at the villagers and they should pick it up if it does drop down like it did just there just throw it again until it hits in the right area then once they pick that bread up they’re going to share it between themselves and they will start To breed if they don’t shirt between themselves something you can do is just continue to throw large amounts of bread at them the nice thing about this filger breeder design is that with some designs they can basically pick up the bread and give it to their babies and that’s an Issue because if the babies have bread then they’re going to run out of bread really quickly and here they are in love mode here and hopefully they will get a villager now they both have bread they’re looking at me but they’re still in love mode there we’ll just go down Here and basically after being in love mode for a little bit if it’s successful if they think there’s enough beds there you go there is your baby villager you’ll notice it instantly fell down meaning there shouldn’t be a chance for the villagers to throw down bread to it Which is perfect now the baby villager is down here we’re gonna wait for it to grow up thankfully we can have a large amount of villagers in here no issue in fact i’ll just show that right here you could literally have tons and tons of different villagers in here as long as There’s not 24 or more then you’re not gonna have an issue with them dying now once they’re in there and they’ve grown up you can simply send them into your system by flicking this lever right here they’ll be loaded up into a mine cart and sent on their way and of course you Can just spam this really quick like this to get yourself all your different villagers loaded up in there and sent away the reason why you’re going to probably want to wait though for them to grow up before you do this is that sometimes the baby villagers will kind Of be on the very corner of the block right kind of on this side here and when it’s like that the mine curt can sometimes not pick them up so you’ll get an empty mine cart in your system and you have to wait till they grow up Because once they’ve grown up there’s no area they can hide in there where they’re not instantly picked up so in this one little villager breeder you have your villager breeder ager and minecart loader station right all in one and that’s how you breed villagers in minecraft you’re probably asking well now i know How to breed them but how do i trade with villagers well i’m coming out with a guide in a couple days we’ll discuss all of that i’ll make sure to have
