Yes hello and welcome to episode 8 of quick steps quick guides the series where i quickly guide you through the various aspects of minecraft teaching you the basics you need to know in order to play the game in the last episode we ventured into the nether a place that You’re required to go to in order to prove potions so that’s what today’s episode is about potion brewing so let’s get into it this is a brewing stand as you might have guessed is for brewing potions there are three places you can find a brewing stand the first is inside A village church unfortunately not all villages have churches so finding a village doesn’t automatically let you a brewing stamp the second is in the basement of certain igloos which are even rarer than village churches and the third is for men’s ships which you won’t find about visiting the end Either way just make sure you use a pickaxe to collect a balloon stand as anything else will just break it the most surefire way to obtain one though is by crafting one this however is the first reason you need to explore the nether you need to obtain blaze rods From blazes then combine them with three of any kind of stone block you will also need blaze rods to turn into blaze powder which is what fuels the brewing stand when placed in the left slot once you have a brewing stand with blaze powder in it you’ll need Something to put your potions in by placing free glass blocks in a v-shape and a crafting table like this you’ll make three glass bottles you can get glass by smelting sand in a furnace you can also get bottles from fishing or by killing witches using empty bottles on water or a Cauldron filled with water will give you water bottles you only need one water bottle but every potion can make up to three per batch so it’s usually best to get three water bottles then place all of them in the brewing stand now you’re ready to produce some potions The only ingredients you need at this point are fermented spider eyes or netherwool anything else will make useless potions with no effects fermented spider eyes are crafted by combining spider eyes with sugar and brown mushrooms and when brewed into a water bottle will make potions of weakness that decreases your attack Damage for one and a half minutes when added to an existing potion fermented spider eyes corrupt them reversing their effects or making negative potions netherwood however will make an awkward potion a potion that provides no effect but unlike other useless potions is used to make every other potion in the game although all Other ingredients make useless potions when brewed directly into a water bottle some can be used as modifiers by adding them to existing potions and converting them into different varieties redstone dust will increase the duration the potion will last for glow stone dust which is another ingredient you can only obtain from the Nether will increase the strength or potency of some potions gunpowder will turn the potion into a splash potion which can be thrown at players and mods instead of being drunk and dragon’s breath which you’ll only have if you’ve been to the end and collected some from The end of dragon fire can then be added to splash potions to turn them into lingering potions that leave a cloud which inflicts the effect on players and mobs that touch it every potion requires a different primary ingredient the following ingredients will make the following potions golden carrots make a Potion of night vision that lets you see in the dark for three minutes redstone dust increases this to eight minutes it can be corrupted into a portion of invisibility sugar makes a potion of swiftness which increases your movement speed for 3 minutes redstone dust increases this to 8 minutes but Glowstone dust makes it a potion of swiftness 2 that increases movement speed even more for one and a half minutes it can be corrupted into a potion of slowness rabbit’s feet are used to make potions of leaping which let you jump higher for three minutes this is either extended to eight minutes With redstone or amplified with glowstone for one and a half minutes and will also become potions of slowness when corrupted glistening melons are used to make potions of healing which instantly restore two hearts of health it can be increased to four hearts using glowstone dust when corrupted it becomes A potion of harmony spider eyes are used to make potions of poison which inflict damage over time for 45 seconds redstone increases this to 2 minutes while glowstone reduces it to 22 seconds for the same amount of damage potions of poison also become potions of harming when corrupted puffer fish make potions Of water breathing that let you hold your breath underwater for 3 minutes this becomes eight minutes with redstone dust magma cream is used to make potions of fire resistance that make you immune to fire and lava for three minutes or eight minutes with redstone dust especially useful for return trips to The nether blaze powder is not just fuel for brewing potions but is also the ingredient for making potions of strength that increase your damage output for three minutes redstone increases this to eight minutes while glowstone increases the damage output further for a shorter one minute 30 seconds gas tears are used to make Potions of regeneration which heal 9 hearts over 45 seconds this becomes 2 minutes with redstone and only 22 seconds but with a stronger effect of glowstone phantom membranes are used to make potions of slow falling that make you fall slower and take no full damage for one minute 30 which is increased to 4 minutes with redstone and turtle shells can be used to make potions of the turtle master which increase your resistance to incoming damage at the cost of making you slower for 20 seconds redstone increases this to 40 seconds while glowstone increases the strength of the effects once you have your Potions brewed this is when you could choose to add the gunpowder to the mix to make them splash potions and then if you have managed to collect some dragon’s breath in an empty bottle you could further upgrade them into lingering potions gaining a potions effect is simply done by drinking it as Soon as you do the effect is applied and the timer for it starts counting down you’ll also get back the empty bottle which you can then use to bring more potions with inflicting the effect of a potion on a mob or another player requires it to first be turned into a Splash potion and then thrown at the target or upgrade it to a lingering potion and thrown at the target that should be everything you need to know to get started with brewing potions join me in episode 9 where we will finally enter the end and take on the Ender dragon i
