Hey everybody my name is whip and welcome on back to Minecraft today we’re gonna be talking about build styles what they are how to use them and how to come up with your own build style we’ll take a look at these examples more closely here in a second but a build style is Basically what blocks you are using to create something unique and convey a type of idea or something that you’re going for here so whether you’re going for a rustic build a medieval build a modern building an industrial build whatever it might be the blocks that you Use and the blocks that you choose to work with are kind of what define that build style so we’re gonna be going over quite a few different examples here that I’ve come up with and also a few ways that I kind of used to pick my own new styles moving forwards you might Recognize a few of these from some other wonderful content creators out there but definitely trying to put my own tweak on them our first style here with our lovely lovely llamas here’s something that I would almost consider like a Tibetan mountain style I feel like this Is something you would see in a village while you’re climbing up to get up to Mount Everest or something like that I absolutely love this one I think it’s so cool I think there’s so much depth to it and style to it it really feels like a broken-down village like it doesn’t feel Too fancy because we’re throwing all this granite in there which is a very very rough block and that allows you to have a lot of texture and makes it not look so complete then as kind of a nice base here where they might have smoothed it out or the weather might have Smoothed out the bricks that they have we’re using terracotta as a base for this one then we’re stacking some granite on it and then moving up to the top of that we are using some bricks then on top of those guys up here at the Very tippy top we got a bunch of spruce cone right here to help contrast with that brick color that we’re going for here outside of that I did want to make this area very overgrown and look like a village of sorts so of course we have a Bunch of leaves in here and all that cool stuff and I think something back here that really sells this style is the alleyways you’re walking down you have sort of overhanging bits here so where they’re kind of connecting the houses in together defining those alleyways and You just know this would lead down to another Street or something like that which i think is absolutely awesome and our wandering trader Lamas of course have to hang out in front now this is the next style over here something that I consider like a Greek style like a greco-roman Al-almost I really love this one this is something that I feel like you would see sitting right at right along the Mediterranean Sea just up there bacon in the Sun having a great day right along like the sea just you have a bunch of boats right down here coming up a steep Hill that’s why I added all these slabs and stairs over here because I feel like this one works really really well when you’re on a cliff face or not a cliff but like a hill so you kind of work your way and you’re walking up the hill you Have more houses and things dotting along the hill going all the way up along this roadway which i think would be so so cool we explored that idea a lot way back when when we did our al enosis big time-lapse build so if you guys want to see more on that one Definitely go check that video out for sure it’s a few months old here on the channel but it’s a good one but what we’re using here is we’re using a lot of courts out here to make it very very clean look and then using a lot of Smooth coarse stairs here new and 1.14 I absolutely love them then chiseled course blocks in there to get some detail bits back here we just have some white terracotta using some spruce and oak for our wood spruce we’ll the doors and oak for everything else pretty much And instead of real windows in here because it’d be so hot in the Mediterranean especially right now stay safe everybody out there but right now we could use all of these different oak fences and things as a way for the air to still be able to flow through and They’re still kind of protecting themselves from like birds or things from the sea flying into their house so using these fences here allows you to get that air flow moving throughout and it looks really cool as well and of course we got a bunch of jungle leaves Out here to make it look very very overgrown that’s a common theme that I love to go with then some more little potted plants using our sword fern here which I swear you can stab somebody with that thing probably sharpens the diamond sword this one is very inspired by the Man himself be double-o who is back here now building up some amazing things and this one here it’s kind of like a Tuscan style village I absolutely love this design here basically what we have going on the inside it might be easier to look at our texturing on this side right here So what we have down here is in my texture pack I change end stone to basically be a cobblestone with the same colors as our sandstone so we got there is a bit of an end stone going on that guy you guys won’t have that one but you Could just use your regular sandstone on there that’ll work totally fine and then the smooth sandstone on top of that adds a great bit of texture variation in here make look like it’s like smoothed out and they basically kind of itched away all the stones to really smooth out that Outward face which i think is absolutely awesome then the reason why it was hard to see that from this side is because obviously if you didn’t know we covered this entire thing with leaves I absolutely love those I think they do a great job with it adding this whole Tuscan vibe that we have going on here which i think is really really sweet one thing that I love adding in here as first we got a little bit of a wheelbarrow design here using our grindstone then we have a bit of a trellis design here as well basically as The entrance into this area getting some light on the front door with a lantern as well then we have basically some jungle leaves going up here so it shows two different types of plants or two different types of ivy then I feel like something that’s very very Tuscan that You see in a lot of the movies and everything is actually having crates and barrels or whatever you want dotted along the side of the house and almost like they’re old that nobody really works with anymore they’re kind of forgotten maybe empty and they just need to store them somewhere so they throw Them in there and now the vines are over growing them and cut it taken over I thought that was a really cool thing to add one bit of detail is with the composter you can pop in a few potatoes or something and bring that level up and It looks like they might be trying to get some puzzle buried around here something like that which I thought was really cool to add momentarily here jumping out of the super flat world over into the single-player world where we are building up this awesome village I Want to talk about a basically like a generic medieval style is basically what I consider this one partially tudor partially like classic medieval that you see in Minecraft but basically what we have here is we are starting with a stone base down here basically using cobblestone andesite mossy stone Angeles Or regular stone and some stone brick on the borders to help make it look more fortified bring it up to the next layer where we have some stripped oak log Thank You 1.13 as well as some bone block in this one and a few other houses you can see us using the white Terracotta and the white concrete and just different things like that throughout here then a heck of a lot of Windows a bunch of shutters on these and using a normal peak roof that we’ve talked about previously in our roof episode be sure to check that one out as Well basically coming up here to the single point and working its way back down the side and my favorite view of this one is this guy right here where you can see a bit of that second layer poking through in the back there with that white bone block I think it looks Absolutely awesome the best part about Minecraft is not everything has to be realistic this one right here is I consider almost a fantasy style mostly using purpur as a roof lock up here to bring that bright purple color that I just absolutely love now he used to hate This one but I found a lot of uses for it recently and then to contrast that really well we’re using a bunch of dark oak going around the border using a bunch of dark oak logs and things down here as well then basically to fortify this base we have that typical stone Look down here at the bottom we using mossy stone cobblestone and andesite reason some cyan stained glass in here as well to bring that lighter color in here then we’re using our fancy new stone brick walls some spruce fences then up here we have the spruce fence And then in the iron bars and I absolutely love it using some spruce wood here as a backdrop and then some oak trap doors as sort of like shingles or something like that for our windows here and then of course me being me I had to throw in some overgrown sections Because I love my bushes just deal with it they’re gonna stick around for a long time but I absolutely love this one I think it’s a very cool design what I especially like about this is that as you’re going up it feels like it’s growing out I know it feels very very Flat here maybe watch this where it just goes right up there this slight change we’re bringing this block forward and set up being right back there where it probably should be to be just a straight line if you bring that forward for your attic it Mickey makes your attic on the Inside just one block bigger in each direction which can really help out to be honest but it can also really help your build feel a lot different from that ground layer because it really feels like it’s coming out towards you which is just awesome another one similar to the pretty classic medieval Design that I like to go with a lot of the times this one is very very new player-friendly just getting inside of a world this is very very easy to build you need a little bit of spruce wood here to get a bit of a trim and do your Roof up here then you need some oak logs you need some oak wood planks then you just need your white concrete in your white concrete powder which is very easy to get early on if you think about it you just need some bone blocks or just Some bones or person bone meal they need to just get some gravel and some sand and that is I think that’s all pretty easy to acquire one thing I absolutely love about this build that’s a very light minor detail is using instead of you’ll see a lot of People come in here and do stuff like this we will put like fences along the top of all these ones and it looks pretty bland it doesn’t stand out too much but what we did here is we brought in these ladders instead so that they don’t come out of the wall too much They’re still pretty flush with it if you’re looking for them basically a ride Adam you’re not gonna see them they’re basically invisible but from this set it adds a bit of a highlight it makes the build feel a lot taller which is really good because this one is pretty squat Now you got two blocks here to basically make a very very tight lower floor which is exactly what I wanted because a lot of the ways that I find people build medieval structures as they go super tight tall like way up into the sky right away as tall as I can get Everything is like five blocks per floor if you’re trying to make a village it makes sense to have your first floor your village like of your village houses being like two two and a half blocks tall or if anything you actually bring them down a little bit on the inside so You basically bring them in then you drop them down because this would actually keep the residents warmer so the farther you drop them down the warmer the earth is down there and all that good stuff so you can hold a lot more heat in there so if you’re thinking About few ways where you can mix up the other designs instead of having every floor be three blocks three blocks three blocks three blocks as you go up maybe try having some being like two blocks and now you can even do one block one if you really wanted to now for something You probably never expected to see again on my channel I made a modern house design here which I think it’s actually really cool I really really like this house I typically don’t build in a modern style because I find it so blocky and I like to use diagonal builds and It’s hard to build a diagonal as a modern house but this one I posted a while ago on Twitter with that like mountainous Tibetan design that we use way back when in the beginning of this video or that we were talking about there I was so like hey look at this Cool thing I came up with what else should we try and a lot of people were like whip we want to see you build modern so here you go this is an example of it we have not built modern saz I played on a SMB server way back when About two years ago now so here we are with this one I think it turned out really cool using the old trick in the book of using some green concrete and some grass here to make it look like somebody mowed it and it’s very proper in every Then our flowerbeds we got a lot of puzzle we got a bunch of glass in here or grass and flowers and things that we’re using ice for our glass windows here to make them a little bit taller and have more texture to them then what I really like about this feels very Geometric which is good geometric shapes are very good for modern designs that helps bring out the style so one I love using is this shape right here we basically come up go over and bring it all the way back and I think that’s a great frontal design area because it Gives you a lot of space here gives you a balcony up above and that just sets the build off very nicely what I love to use for modern designs is adding a sort of a color highlight to it so you can see our lime coming up here which would Basically come back this way and drop right off the back of it if we had a back of it then this wall over here was feeling very very plain and boring and I had to put some of my own style into this one so we brought in a vine wall so I thought it’d be really cool because we have this clean crisp modern design over here few flowers few bushes all over the place but nothing too crazy so let’s put a vine covered wall over here just have it completely covered with leaves and everything and that looks really really Sweet in my opinion I absolutely love that one we’ve talked about a few styles we’ve talked about a lot of the blocks that go in place of them now how the heck do we use them what is that thing all about well personally my favorite tip for this one is look at the Environment around you look at what blocks you have available to you for example in this mountain range right here we’ve got a lot of stone to us so maybe we go for like a stone base but there’s also a lot of snow so maybe something that complements off of snow And that whiter color so maybe that mountain design we’re looking for with all the brick and everything in the terracotta but then also we have spruce wood available to us we have oak wood available to us and down here is a Plains area we got a bunch of sheep so We got a lot of wool maybe we can make something up with all those things that are around us right here the less you have to travel especially in survival can really really make a difference for wanting to complete a plot complete a project you can’t even talk today maybe You’re going for something more than the creative side there’s a personally web site that I absolutely love here called Adobe color I’ll leave a link to this one down in the description below for all you but this thing is absolutely amazing so there’s a few different ways If you’re trying to pick colors and build to use we have all these different options over here and one I personally love is the complementary colors so basically we’re coming here and say we could want to go for like a blue so we find like some good blues over here It’s like these ones are cool like we got those guys right there so maybe we find some blocks inside of Minecraft so that might be like the blue terracotta light blue terracotta and our light blue or light blue concrete and maybe light blue terracotta something like that they Hit up the orange terracotta maybe orange concrete over here and those things would all work really well or maybe you could do like sand stones on this one if you come over this way a little bit further this might be a little bit more towards like the sandstone each colors but I absolutely Love this website for just picking colors to work with because for me that’s usually a hard thing to do picking shades of colors I know this one’s kind of common sense especially for this right here but we got our white terracotta and we got white concrete we Got white concrete powder those are kind of going I know this one probably doesn’t blend in there that well let’s move him over there because we’re gonna overlay texture as well then we maybe can bring in smooth quartz and you can see that this is brighter than all of Them and maybe you got like a bit of a color variation right there so you have this guy starting on the bottom working all the way to the top you maybe stack this up a few right here I can click the block and then we go smooth quartz all The way up to the top and you’ll see kind of slowly that that pattern really starts to develop itself as we kind of stretch these ones all the way to the top and then alright like there you’ll see a lot of the builds that I like to Use personally we might start with like a stone at the bottom then we go to an andesite or a cobblestone at the bottom then and a site then stone and then some die right at the top just to get a gradient going and it works really well super quick example here have that Gradient actually being used on the left hand side you can see where I start with a base for it and then the right-hand side of what it becomes in the end speaking of the end however that is gonna have to do it for today’s episode I hope this all helpful for you all Helping you become better builders in your own right there let me know what your favorite style was that you saw in the video today and let me know what your favorite style is overall are there any other ones that we should be checking out moving forwards make sure To let me know that down in the comments below anyways thank you all so much for watching and please hit that like button if you didn’t enjoy so subscribe if
