How To Design a Good Nether Hub! | The Minecraft Guide – Tutorial Lets Play (Ep. 29)

Gamers i’m rich and not just in cool jungle builds no no no no not in mine grab hats the bird does have to go though gotta admit definitely not just in mending either but we’re doing great in mending did you catch the last episode i’m doing good in levels yeah you

Checked that level 27 we can’t be stopped basically and that’s not all i’m also also also doing good in resources check this out i did some mining in between episodes down in the branch mine and then i hit the cave system too yeah i got a lot of good things

Unfortunately no diamonds that would have been amazing but lots of really good useful ores which is cool i have like a ton of iron a lot of coal i basically doubled the amount of coal and iron that i have i mean that makes me pretty happy oh but

Not to beat you jackie the wealth doesn’t end there definitely not i found something amazing that you guys need to see i marked it it’s right over here super super close to where we’re building so i was caving lighting up the caves taking the resources you know and that i heard something

And then i heard another thing and then i heard a lot of those things and then i found a boom zombie spawner number three of the world and this thing look it it’s all the way up at y51 that’s amazing now i haven’t checked the chest quite

Yet i’d like to check it on camera with you guys so maybe something good like some diamonds no uh two music discs those are cool that’s good another iron bucket because i don’t have enough iron i saw okay we’ll take it all that’s okay a little bit disappointing but this

At y51 that absolutely not disappointing not at all i’m thinking that we’ll have to probably do something with it i mean we already have a zombie farm in the world but we kind of need to we need to be able to mend our tools now that we have mending and

Honestly it’s so close it’s right up on the surface you really can’t beat that well actually i guess you could beat it if it were a skeleton spawner it’d be even better so it’s safe to say that we’re doing good in the jungle now we’re getting really really established last

Episode we got axel waddle we set up a building for the mending villager and yeah we we got a lot of mending lots and lots of mending it’s basically the best mending villager in the game or it literally is and then the other builds everything is going pretty well but today

I think i’ll actually like to switch it up a little bit and start work on a big new project so technically it’s another update still 1.16 and in terms of nether builds well this is really embarrassing i have literally nothing the nether hub it’s in shambles uh the builds yeah they’re not good

That definitely needs to change today and probably for the next couple episodes we’re actually going to slide over to the nether and do a lot of work over there we need another hub and then we need to check out some things around the nether hub maybe big maybe we

Could get a blaze spawner or at least find a nearby nether fortress and maybe talk about collecting some wither skeleton skulls maybe either way though whatever we do we at least need to break ground on another hub every good world needs a good nether hub or another base another hub is basically a

Base in the nether we talked about it earlier on but the nether is amazing for travel over long distances if you have a bunch of hallways in the nether you know for travel it would probably be a pretty efficient idea to link all of those hallways up to one centralized point

Also there are some pretty cool structures in the nether that you might want to check out and sort of farm also some cool mobs too having a solid nether hub should not only create a safe area inside of the nether but also a pretty good place to work out of and a

Great place to travel out of today elites will be talking about designing a good nether hub and then gathering the resources but we can’t talk about design here but we could definitely talk about it over in this world we’re in a creative super flat world where i was messing with some ideas just

Before this episode designing another hub definitely can be tricky especially if you’re on a server and if you’ve never done it before today we’ll run through my thought process on the nether hub that i’m going to build in my world while talking about some good practices so netherhub this

Is where i started initially i was thinking nethery definitely nethery so like things like basalt blackstone maybe some of the other 1.16 nethery blocks because honestly i really really like them but i still haven’t gotten to build with them very much then i was also thinking oh come on

Let’s be honest you know who this is we’re thinking an arch of course the arches are on point in this world the vibes are good from these things so nether blocks arch i was thinking like a big arch at the top that could definitely be cool and then some sort of structured

Sidewall but uh then i hit a roadblock the nether portal where would i put the nether portal you know to get into the nether hub to leave the nether hub i was thinking maybe just in the center on the floor but that would be kind of random right

Maybe it would work but it also might be kind of random the first a big component to a good efficient nether hub is a centralized portal you want your nether portal to be at an easy to access point if you’re going with another hub that ends up being two layers maybe

Consider putting your nether hub on the layer that you’re going to use the most for example let’s say i have a two-story dether hub in my two-story nether hub bond floor one i have all of my transport hallways on floor 2 i basically have nothing maybe a couple farms extra storage

Where would i want to put my portal well definitely 100 on floor 1. a good nether hub is another hub that’s easy to use think about what you’ll be doing in this nether hub do you use the nether strictly for travel then definitely put your portal near where your traveling tunnels are

So next up i basically expanded this concept i didn’t get the arch in quite yet but i was thinking a gigantic portal in the middle of a hallway and then i’d have sections like this was arches over here and then this would actually be mirrored

On the other side of the portal so the portal definitely centralized and then i’d be able to go this way and go to like tunnels and then maybe go this way and go to tunnels and then i’d have lots of room in the central hall area for like

Farms things like that maybe a trading hall uh but it just it wasn’t sticking i i really didn’t like the feel so i decided to switch it up a little bit and go circular you can never go wrong with a circle the nice thing about a circle

Is it is insanely insanely efficient i mean think about this i put my nether portal right here in the center of the circle or about in the center and then i go through this portal then i have like a tunnel over there a tunnel there a tunnel there and a tunnel there

Yeah that’s just about as efficient as it could get i would enter the nether and then just have to figure out which way i need to go and walk that way super super simple easy to use another nice thing about circular nether hubs is the fact that they are

Easy to expand another key component of another hub especially if you’re on a multiplayer server okay let’s say you’re on a server and there’s maybe like a bunch of people with bases down this way and then off of this hallway a little bit well you could add on another big room

Over here and then have separate hallways coming off of this room definitely lots of option for expansion here the other reason that i like circular nether hubs instead of square ones is the option to put diagonal hallways inside of these hubs so let’s say i went with a circle and

Then i had something that’s like over that way pretty much like perfectly i would have to go over that way and then over that way about an even amount of blocks well instead of making a long l-shaped hallway with a circle i could easily throw a diagonal hallway

Right in here in the corner you know like ice blocks diagonally going all the way to wherever i have to go and it would be pretty cool looking back to the square up it’s definitely doable with a square hub but in my opinion just doesn’t look as good

I am definitely heavily biased towards circles you don’t have to go with a circle but i think we’re going to go with a circle so i was thinking arches cool fancy things on the side of the circle that looked pretty good but then i was walking around on the ground definitely something that

You should do if you’re planning things in creative mode this hub honestly felt a little small so i decided to set things up a notch and boom here we are this is the concept that i think i’m gonna go with it is grand for sure this is going to be

A big nether hub in fact maybe maybe my biggest nether hub ever i’m thinking definitely a tall ceiling this nether hub is going to be at the ceiling of the nether so on the ceiling we’ll have bedrock which should look really really cool and actually coincidentally match like amazingly with the basalt

And blackstone because of the colors on bedrock i mean look at this these two blocks literally they’re combined on bedrock that’s gonna be really really cool looking it’ll be a lot of gray and darkness but it’ll be cool with this big nether hub we’ll come in in the center so it’s

Nice and efficient and then we’ll be able to go wherever we need to go i’ll have four options for tunnels coming off of this thing and then actually if i need to four more options in the corners so eight directions total i’ll probably mark things off with

Colors so maybe like red and yellow and i don’t know maybe colors something like that that will make this another hub really really easy to navigate the third big thing that every good nether hub should be if you want your another hub to be really efficient and not annoying at all

It needs to be easy to navigate two-story dealer hubs are cool and sometimes they work a whole lot better than a single story nether up it just depends on your situation but uh staircases can also be annoying so if you can put things basically all on one layer for the most

Part that’s gonna make your hub a whole lot easier to navigate and probably a whole lot more likable i’m thinking about doing something cool in the central with portals maybe like a box of portals and then right in the middle i could put like a load zone or

Something that could be cool so i would always know where the nether hub is uh yeah yeah i’m thinking this is definitely the move now i want to bring some color into the nether hub so these two blocks i have these options i have the blue i have the red

I’m thinking the blue i think i’d like to come in on this another hub somewhere somehow with a blue accent and i’m not too sure how i’m gonna do that quite yet like maybe back here behind this wall that that could be cool it might look a little weird from the

Inside but it could work i i’m not too sure quite yet but i definitely need to bring some color into the nether hub to make it feel you know a little bit more alive so color for sure somehow i could also use the plank variants of these two blocks

The crimson planks the warped planks not too sure the final netherhub tip that i have for you while in this world relates to spawn so this is an optional one but this could be a game changer if you can block spawns in your nether hub that might

Honestly be a good idea especially if you’re building in an annoying vibe like a soul sand valley biome yeah you definitely don’t want skeletons all over your nether up absolutely not when it comes to blocking spawns in your netherhub you have a couple options my favorite options are non-spawnable

Blocks like glass or slabs or light now light can be a little bit tricky let’s talk about piglens in the piglen’s case piglens can spawn inside of the nether if the biome is correct at a light level 11 or lower so your netherhub is going to have to be crazy crazy bright

Light just might not be the best option slabs or glass are definitely a whole lot easier leaves would also work too but remember leaves are flammable so big circular nether hub with lots of black stone basalt no spawning i think that’s definitely going to be

The move so now i think it’s time for us to actually flip back into the guide world and start gathering materials i’m gonna need a black stone basalt obsidian and then at least a little bit of nilium so we can actually farm the tree variants but before we do anything let’s actually

Do something else this pickaxe definitely could use some mending two levels that’s a really really good deal the final thing that i’m gonna do to get on this pickaxe after putting mending on it is gonna be efficiency five so markiplier you can come with me perfect multiplier

And the silk touch pickaxe as well definitely gonna need that thing we’re gonna be the nether so i think it would probably be a pretty good idea to make some potions of night vision so first the awkward potions then the golden carrot for the night vision potion so i think to find and

Accomplish a lot of what we need to find and accomplish today we had actually just head back to the original nether portal you know the one that’s by the old base the starter base the first thing that i’d like to get my hands on is the nylon after we get the

Nylon and probably a little bit of wood too we could easily go down and get blackstone so nilium the crimson nilium is gonna be located right over here to pick the stuff up we’re gonna need to soak touch boom there we go we’ll grab a couple

Pieces of stuff then we’ll be able to grow more of it back over at our base why nilium well that’s actually pretty simple we want to use maybe these blocks i’m not too sure if we’re going to use the crimson ones or the warped ones but we

Want to have the option to use these blocks if we want to grow these trees we need to grow them on nilium i have plenty of netherrack around the world benilium there’s actually something that i was never able to get so crimson nilium that’s done

Now all we need to do is get a little bit of warped nylium and if i can remember correctly there should be a warped forest like right over here right ah yeah right okay perfect now in the warped forest i think i’m gonna chop down a couple

Trees too because if i’m being honest elites i think i’m leaning towards maybe using the warped wood or those warped blue blocks in the build because they’re so so cool looking and honestly honestly uh they’re better they’re way better than the crimson one so yeah i’m gonna go ahead and get some

Of this stuff uh probably about the same amount and then chop down a couple trees now check this out the hoe actually is really useful in another you can use the hoe to dig through these blocks really really quickly it’s almost like shears in the overworld but this time we’re in another so

Those blocks are going to come with me and these things as well these are shroom lights we could maybe use shroom lights to actually light up our nether hub that could be pretty cool so uh i need to get as much of this stuff as i possibly can

Get uh one thing that i really wish that another update did though i i wish these blocks would actually decay like if i didn’t want to you know dig them all out i could just leave them be and then they would go and decay doesn’t work like that which is kind of

A bummer and definitely annoying when it comes to farming these things another cool thing that i can do now that i have fortune 3 officially i mean i could have done it before but now it’s actually profitable quartz i can mine this stuff and the experience because i have mending on my pickaxe

Is going to heal the pickaxe up which is absolutely amazing i love love love mending best friend best thing in the world just he’s so good so good and quartz too ooh i don’t know if i’m gonna use any of it but it would definitely be nice to have a bunch of it

Okay i think i honestly have enough of this warped stuff i have so many sacks of warp warp block and there’s even more laying around on the ground yeah that’s good now uh with an ileum out of the way both of them and the warp stuff good now it’s blackstone time

Then i have a really really good spot where i can find blackstone so check this out this area right here do you remember this this is where we were when we were looking for ancient debris when i was looking for ancient debris i exposed a lot of black stone i always knew that

This area down here would come in handy later on we can go right down here on the staircase and then just dig up the black stone that’ll be perfect then after that after the blackstone i think will basically surprisingly be pretty much done with another for now

So i’m gonna get some blackstone then i’ll meet back up with you guys actually over in the overworld i think i’m gonna need maybe like oh i’m gonna need a lot of black sun i’m gonna get as much black stone as i possibly can get and maybe if i’m lucky

I’ll actually end up exposing some ancient debris too that would be a big win uh okay it’s way too soon to not show this look at this so i was just over there digging continue digging for ancient debris already this is amazing look at this this is why you find your blackstone oh

Five ancient debris this is like literally the biggest chunk of ancient debris that i’ve ever found no way yeah black snow mining definitely fun definitely like it need to do it more five that’s enough for another piece of nether right which is perfect now we can actually afford like a lodestone

Or something uh or yeah like a pickaxe okay this is great okay uh anyways uh back to mining i have like three stacks already back in the overworld now where i don’t need a potion to see i like it so the inventory absolutely loaded with blackstone this should be more than

Enough black zone hopefully there are a couple more things that we need to get three things actually sand i’m gonna need glass and i actually don’t have any sand stock piled uh then some ice and i’ll explain why once i get it and then obsidian all things that are

Really really easy to get for obsidian i can go down to the mines either of the starter base over here or back over to the jungle base for the sand i’ll just take up a beach over here and then for the ice i’m actually

We have ice which by the way the ice is for a basalt generator so what we want to do with this packed ice is actually turn it into blue ice this is the first blue ice in the world and it is very very expensive so we’ll have that on deck and then

We’ll also need a piece of sole soil for that one and yeah just lots and lots of materials laid out inside of this chest hopefully this will be just about everything that we’ll need to build the nether hub in the next episode today we end by mentioning the three maybe four big

Things that you should consider when designing your nether up your other hub should be easy to navigate it should have room for expansion and the portal should be easy to access maybe in the middle also remember spawns if you want to block them maybe use glass slabs or maybe even light
