What’s going on everybody it’s monkey farm and we are here in my old second world LP map and I was going to show you some progress on the giant skull on the harbour craft server but we were having some lag issues so recording wasn’t working too well so today I’m going to Show you how to edit your resourcepack blocks for any of you who watch my LP videos you know that I use a customized John Smith texture pack as you can see the cobblestone the stone slabs some of the other blocks are different like stone brick all that kind of stuff and You can actually take a resource pack and pretty much edit everything from the sky the Sun the music the water you name it you can change things all you have to do is find the image file so I’m going to show you a little bit how to do that We’ll mess around with some blocks real quick and I’ll show you how to save it and we’ll go from there so the first thing you need to do is go into options and resource packs this is where you’re going to find all the resource packs that you have if you’ve never done this Before obviously this section will be empty and all you’ll see is default as you can see I have my customized John Smith texture pack loaded up but go ahead and click the open resource pack folder okay so what I like to do is take whatever resource pack I want to edit And copy it into a brand new empty folder that I can mess around with and I know all the files there I know what they are and I won’t get anything mixed up ok I’ve got my resource pack in its own little folder so I can dump a bunch Of files in here and not lose them or anything a lot of resource packs have different folders but basically what you need to do you need to go into assets and minecraft usually something called textures maybe all of them have the same labels it doesn’t really matter but get down into This big area here with a bunch of folders and what you’re going to see that is most important is the blocks folder and the items folder some of these other ones you can mess around with like you can go in and change your paintings you know you know pasted Pictures or whatever you want in them entities like mobs and things like that you’ll have environment like the sky what we’re going to do right here is just mess around with the items and blocks so I’ve copied those folders out you’re also going to need WinRAR or a Similar program that you can open up zip files and things like that with but what you’re going to need to do is get the files outside of the zip folder first so I’ve got blocks in here and basically there’s an image file a PNG image file For every texture in the texture pack or the resource pack so every block will have its own image so let’s say I just want to change cobblestone and maybe I don’t know where’s dirt stirred around here so I’m going to I’m going to copy those out here real quick and I’m going To open those in an image editing software okay I just zoomed in here real quick I prefer to use Photoshop but that’s on my other computer so I’m just going to record using paint if you want to use if you want to do anything with any transparent blocks you can’t use Paint because when you save a PNG file in paint Microsoft Paint it will actually flatten the image so anything that’s supposed to be transparent or the you know like leaves or something like that it will turn into either black or white and you won’t be able to see Through it anymore but since this is a solid block it doesn’t matter so I can use a paintbrush I don’t even know I don’t use Microsoft Paint so let’s see I can make cobblestone really ugly and weird-looking I’m going to draw these red lines over all the little crap Send the cobblestone that looks pretty hideous right so why don’t we do that and maybe we want some green in the middle here that looks like really nice cobblestone so we’re going to do that oh that’s great notch would be so proud that people play with red and green hey This is like holiday Christmas colors awesome so we have Xmas cobblestone so I’m going to go ahead and save that so I’ve saved that file right there look there’s our new cobblestone and why don’t we do something different with dirt all right well I don’t really know What mspaint is good for so I’m going to try to let’s see I’m going to draw a big star on my dirt that looks pretty cool so I’m going to go ahead and save that as well now we have two new textures so in this blocks folder I’m just going to copy and Paste these in there okay now what we need to do let’s say you’ve added all the blocks that you wanted to edit in these folders you want to put these back into the zip resource pack so I’ve copied actually I usually like to delete the original ones just to make sure that Whatever I’m moving in to this folder here is the correct one so anyway that’s all you need to do so I’m going to open this texture pack up let’s actually rename this to I’ll rename it something so we can we can keep track of it and We’ll open it up in the game and we’ll see how it looks and we’re back and isn’t this lovely one thing I forgot to mention is it’s much easier to take an existing texture pack and edit it because it’s one nice folder I wouldn’t try to edit your default texture pack Because you might actually make a mistake and not be able to change it back and that would be pretty annoying so anyway look at these tree logs that I’ve changed they are pretty awesome looking I also have the pufferfish All right you get the picture anyway so that’s just kind of the basics I hope you guys have fun with it by the way most custom texture packs don’t want you to redistribute their pack even if you customize it without their permission so in case that’s what you do want to do Make sure you’re dealing with the texture pack that allows you to do that so anyway I hope that helped a lot of guys were asking about how to edit stuff like this and anyway can be a lot of fun obviously I did this in about 5 minutes So I didn’t put a whole lot of time into it but if you want to download my actual custom John Smith texture pack that I used in all my LPS I’ll have a link in the description as well too that you can download it and use it and feel free to Use that in your videos and everything as well don’t forget to tell people where to find it if they want to download it that would be appreciated anyway that is it for now we’ll see you later you Video Information
