What’s going on everybody so I’ve been having a lot of comments on my recent video that I made about how to host a server about how to join someone else’s server or how would someone else join my server so today I’m gonna explain how basically the three different ways you Can join a minecraft server so the first one is basically let’s say just like I am right now I have the server right here it’s hosted on the same exact computer that I want to play planned so the first biggest problem I’m is seeing people have is they want to connect to Their own server and they don’t know how to do that now there are three ways that you can do that there are three different things you can type in so I’m gonna type them in right here so the first one that you can type in would just be a normal zero that’s Going to redirect you straight back to your own PC next thing you can type would be local host this right here is the same thing as typing zero and this will redirect your connection back to your current PC or the third thing you can do is something called a loopback Address most people’s default loopback address unless it’s been specifically changed will be 127.0.0.1 all three of these no matter which one you type in should connect you to your own minecraft server so I have mine running it’s right here we’re going to test it out right now we’re into a Direct Connect we’ll Get the 127.0.0.1 out of there and we’ll try a zero let’s see if we can get in and I’m in let’s try it again with localhost there we go I mean once again let’s try one more time and this time we’ll do the loopback IP of 127.0.0.1 this is what I Did in my tutorial and I think it confused a lot of people it’s not that complicated that’s that’s how you get on your own minecraft server alright so now the way that you would get on a different minecraft server let’s say that you wanted to host this this Minecraft server not this one this one right here you want to host this minecraft server on a different computer in your house maybe to save some resources get out of here steam to save some resources and you want to know how to connect to that because the localhost Thing at the zero or your loopback is not gonna work if it’s on a different computer so what you need to do at that point is you need to open up a command prompt you can do that by just do searching CMD hitting Enter and you want To type in a command it’s called IP config what that’s gonna do is gonna bring up your network configuration so you want to look for your ipv4 address and mind you you want to be running this in doing this on the same exact computer that has the server running on it Because this is gonna be the address of the server so you’d find it right here’s 10.0.0.0 is the IP address of the computer that I’m currently on the one running this so now if I go to any other computer in my house and I want to connect to this computer the address I Would type in would be this and it’s as simple as that there’s no port number you just type in that and it’ll connect and you should be set now that would be how you would connect to a server on different computer unfortunately I don’t have a server running on another Computer that’s vanilla that I can just join and show you guys right now but it that’s what you would type in if it’s on your computer inside of your own network in your house so let’s say you want to have a friend someone down the street join your networks I mean join your server someone who’s not within your network they’re going to need something called your external IP address now in order to get that I’m not gonna show mine but you can go on Google it’s really simple just and Google what is my IP v4 address now This is gonna give you I’m not gonna do it but this is gonna give you an address that probably looks something along the lines of let’s just put one in here right now something along the lines of this all right that’s just a random number I made up now if you if this Happens to be our P address that you find through Google what you would want to do is give this to your friend but then the port number that you set up that’s gonna be in the properties file right here so let’s edit that and you Can come down you can see where it says server port right here two five five six five that’s the port we’re running on two five five six five is always default for minecraft so you have your friend let’s get back to our text document type in Your IP address then they put a colon the colons very important there’s a difference between a colon and a semi colon you want the one on a digital clock not that that won’t work so they need to put a colon and then you’d put the two five five six five so this is The address that your friends would type in externally to connect to your minecraft servers they’ll be running on within your network now mind you you also need to port forward this port needs to be open on your network otherwise the traffic isn’t going to be able to get through and no port Forwarding is a whole video in itself I have another one on my channel I will link it in the description if you guys are interested in doing that that is a necessary step though if you want to have someone else to play on your server so after you port forwarded and you give Them this as long as your firewalls all open your internet connection is good they should be able to join if you’re getting any other issues you can leave a comment down below I’ll try to explain the best I can but you also need a decent upload speed in order for people To be able to connect to your server because otherwise they’re just gonna lag out and that’s just that’s just what it is you need better internet so I hope I did the best I could right now to try to hate everything that you guys commented on in one of my last videos so Hopefully I can refer people to this it’ll help them but yeah that’s all I got for today so you guys like I said have any questions leave them down below if this video helped you at any point be sure to subscribe leave a like and yeah See you in the next video thank you guys Video Information
