Hey hey everybody scott omano back for another minecraft video guys in this video i’m going to show you how to set up a local server on your machine using the at launcher all right and that’s one of the strengths of this launcher is the ability to manage both servers and client instances all Right so you can run modded servers this way and install modded packs doing it so like if you took featured packs you could create servers from any of these packs that are available on curseforge you can import packs if they have a server pack you could create servers from it Be aware though if you run a big mod pack on your machine you’re going to need a lot of ram because you’re running two versions of the modpack a server version and then the client version that you connect to but if you have sufficient ram and your computer’s Good enough then you can certainly do that in this video i’m just going to show you how to set up a simple forge server we could do vanilla as well but i’ll go ahead and do forge you can run fabric servers as well which is nice for this launcher All right so for the at launcher you want to go to at launcher.com downloads and download it for your system we’re going to do it here on windows but you can get a setup or you can get the portable version uh setup is an installer and uh you know Just configure it for your machine it’s really easy to do all right so once you have it installed and you’ve logged in your account you can use microsoft accounts or regular uh minecraft accounts um then we’ll want to go to the vanilla packs tab here along the side all right And so we’re going to create a server so this is minecraft vanilla with forge so just choose the create server button and then name it what you want it to be choose the version of minecraft that you want and choose the forged version that you want all right and we’ll click install So it’ll go through and download uh the server and pull everything down and depending on the speed of your internet you know it may take more or less time all right so having done that with that server is now available in the servers tab so go along the servers tab Along the side here and you’ll see it listed here with the name that you gave it and the version and all that all right so we need to launch it one time and when we do it’s going to give us a message that says you need to agree to The eula which is the end user license agreement in order to run the server and then tells you to go to this text file and stuff to do it but we can go ahead and close that out and close this out and now we want to choose open folder so When we open the folder it’ll open the server directory on our machine that’s been set up in the at launcher you can see it’s in the at launcher folder that you created servers and then vanilla minecraft all right so it’s talking about this e-u-l-a so open that in in text edit or whatever You want and uh name it or change that false to true all right so we’re agreeing to the terms of the server when we do that all right now we’re ready to launch but we may want to go through and set some server properties first so select the server properties file and Then open it in something you know i’m going to use notepad plus plus and you can set your options here so your difficulty uh you could set it to what you want easy normal i think easy’s default set it to normal um you’ll want to take note uh the game Modes and stuff that is default to set up the gamemode survival here but you’ll want to take note of the ip address which is by default let’s see where that’s at right in here right here the port for the server is right here server port and by default it’s 25 565. all right now you can change that and then here’s the query port as well change those to match to each other so you can set a different uh local ip if you want to at the local port uh i’ll leave a link to a video at the End about port forwarding and all that i’m not going to go over that in this video but i’ll leave you a link to a good video that shows that all right so you can also name the server uh something that you want i’ll just name it my server Here which is fine all right and so you can look at the other options and everything like that but it should be ready to go at this point so just make sure and save your changes and close out and now we’re ready to launch the server all right so you could Choose to launch it with the gui or just launch it on its own all right let’s do gui just to start so it’ll go through and it opens up the command prompt and everything that’s needed to launch it and then it’ll go through and create a world another option that you could have Is the type of generator that it is for the world that’s in server properties we just have it as a default generator right now all right so it’ll go through and launch and tell you how much memory it’s using uh which let me make note on memory for The vanilla it doesn’t matter so much uh and if you want to stop the server by the way uh but before you do that you’re probably going to want to op yourself so while the servers launched you could see it went through and launched it created the world And all that kind of stuff the default world that you want you can put in seeds and all that kind of stuff but we want to op ourselves so put op and then your minecraft username all right and then that’ll make you uh an op on the server so that you can Change game modes and you know bring commands and do all that kind of stuff all right so that makes you a server operator then you when you want to stop the server type in stop and it’ll stop the server close that dui and all that kind of stuff And let you know here uh here you need to click that message so you don’t really need the gui locally as much and unless you’re just trying to troubleshoot it to see how much memory it uses see if your forensic connected to it once you forward and all that kind of stuff but Let’s go back to the open folder and let’s look at this launch server.bat script here all right and this is on windows on other systems uh it’d be launch server.sh or launch server.com but on windows we’ll look at the launchserver.bat so open that in your text editor and here you set the Memory all right so it’ll tell you about adding the letters at the end of it it’s set but to two gig by default all right and that’s the amount of ram that it’s going to use for the server uh and if it’s 32-bit or whatever you know We’re gonna use 64-bit two gigs that’s fine you can change that and you can also go through and put in your jvm arguments if you’re have some to pre you know to increase the performance of the server and stuff like that all right so make sure to make those Settings if they’re different than what you want all right now let’s go ahead and make our client instance to connect to it so let’s go back under vanilla packs here and we’ll choose a new instance for the vanilla forge one all right so choose new instance here Name it what you want make sure the version matches and the forged version matches all right and then choose install for that all right so again it’ll go download pull down stuff depending on the speed of your computer all right and now it is in the instances tab so this is the client Pack and here’s the server pack between those two all right so let’s once again launch the server this time we’ll do it without the gui and we should have already opted ourselves and all that and you can see in in the server folder that there’ll be a file that’s ops right here ops.json That’ll list you inside of there when you do that and tell you that all that kind of stuff all right so let’s um go and close that and then choose the instances and hit play on that again be sure you have a sufficient ram to run both of these instances to do so And that server’s already been started has a world created all that kind of stuff all right so let’s go ahead and do that i’m going to use let me turn off the music okay and i’m gonna go ahead and make it orderless full screen zap okay and now we should be able to Connect to it alright so go to multiplayer and then it’s going to ask you to agree to this all this kind of stuff that they’re doing now and it’ll scan locally but it won’t find it yet you’ll need to find your server here so you want to put for the server address That was set in the configs but local host and then the port 25 565 is the default there 25 i got too many annoy 25 565 okay be sure and have that 25 565 and then done and it’ll scan for it and then it’ll find it you can see it Showing the name that you put here my server and there it is so you just connect to it all right so it’ll log you in and there’s the world and stuff that’s been generated from it you’re now connected to the server on your local machine all right You should have ops so you should go through and be able to set the game mode to creative or what have you and fly and do everything you want on your own local server that’s cool so like i said guys i’m going to put in a video that will Show you how to port forward and all that if you want your friends to connect i don’t really want to go into that uh into this in this video i want to keep it kind of short and simple and keep it focused on the at launcher side of things okay But to do a a pack that you want like you could go to the packs here and so you could choose something like sky factory or whatever which is kind of big but again you can do it so you can just create a server from that using these same principles It’ll go through and it’ll download the server pack put it in a new directory which will be available in your servers tab then you go through for packs choose the same pack and choose new instance and then it would create the client pack that you would have and you would Definitely need to go through and adjust the options for memory and stuff in the server and then you know in your client and stuff now generally for the settings of the pack for the client the memory is uh in this tab here for the default memory so go under settings Go under java minecraft and then it’ll give you the initial the the least ram and the most ram that it can use and all that and server things so that’s for the client side that you could set up and then you know your java and stuff where it’s located You can have it install its own local java if you wanted to uh under you know java minecraft let’s see where that is no that’s under tools actually go to tools and runtime downloader down here if you wanted to not have a java on your system but unique to this at launcher Then you could use this runtime downloader and it would do it and it would connect to that all right so guys like i said i’m trying to keep it kind of short and simple but that’s a nice feature of this launcher is to be able to have both servers And instances that you can launch from the same launcher and uh you know not have to go through all the command line type of stuff it automates a lot of that for you and then when you want to get rid of the server you can just delete right there and that server’s gone Delete it you need to stop first if it’s running uh yeah it is running so you want to stop it first right there and then delete it close out the command line instances delete then it’s gone okay so that’ll clear out those folders but anyway guys at launcher that’s a cool Feature of it that’s unique amongst all the major launchers that it can run both servers and clients and guys i hope that was helpful to you again i’m going to leave a link to a video um let me go and reference it real quick from uh the breakdown here the breakdown He has a very good video on running vanilla servers but uh we’re doing it for the at launcher so i’m gonna direct you to that for the port forwarding and connecting to it and all that kind of stuff anyway this is scatter model thanks so much for watching guys i hope you Enjoyed it i hope you picked something up if so leave a like consider subscribing to the channel for more minecraft stuff have a great day bye bye You Video Information
