If you’re like me then you probably have a lot of fog memories of the legacy console edition of minecraft so there’s a pretty big disappointment when microsoft decided to cancel it especially when they replaced it with the bedrock edition which to be honest just isn’t as good of a game so i’ve Been looking for ways to make minecraft java edition experience feel so much closer to the legacy console edition and so here’s some of the things that i found so first off you’re going to want to download a few files that i’ve added in the description and first off is forge Which if you’ve ever modded the game before you’ll know forge is essential for getting any mods working um so you’re going to want to download it and install it so if you don’t have a program that can run jar files you’re going to want to open the command prompt And go to the downloads folder wherever you have it you can just do that with cd which means change directory and then hit use this command java slash jar forge to run it and hit enter now i’ve already installed it so i’m not going to do that Here and after that you’re going to have this forged installation in your minecraft so you’re going to want to run it really quick and then close the game so that you can get to the mods folder that it’ll create in your minecraft folder so you’re going to want to head Over to that and then in here is where you’re going to drop the controllable mod which allows you to use a controller and will also um raise the hotbar like it does in console edition um and then optifine many of you probably have optifine installed already but doing This allows you to run it together with the controllable mod and you’re going to want to do that um to be able to get the shaders working and now the shaders that we’re going to be using is called the cphsbc shaders it’s a super long name but it stands for the crushed Pixel hue i think hue saturation brightness and contrast shaders basically that super long main name basically just means you’re going to be able to go into your game and adjust the brightness and the contrast and everything to make the game look closer to console edition but you can’t just download the shares directly Because of course this isn’t going to be easy so the shaders are actually in a mod pack that was created for 1.12.2 i’m going to make javascript look closer to console edition um so it’s pretty outdated but you’re going to want to download it anyway because downloading the shares From the modpack is actually much more customizable than the ones from crushpixel’s video the developer i don’t know why that is but for some reason um the official download just doesn’t let you make as fine adjustments as you want um so you’re going to want to download the Um the reliv xbox 360 mod pack and basically ignore everything else because everything else is going to be out of date but you do want to find the shaders shader pack and once you do that you’re going to just move it to the shader packs folder they see and put it in here Like i’ve already done i’ve actually got both versions just so i could kind of show you what i’m talking about when i talk about um the customizability of it and then i’ve also added a few resource packs in the description that just make the experience a little bit closer to consolation There’s one that changes the clicking noise in the uh in the the pause menu to the console edition um sound effect which is a super small thing but it’s super nice and then also vanilla tweaks i know many of you probably use vanilla tweaks before but basically there’s a Few options in there like the the classic consolation panorama on the home screen as well as the uh snowballs and emeralds from console edition so those are there if you want to use it so then after we load up the game if you do the resource pack load up then you’ll see the Background um has this super cool legacy consolidation um panorama but right now i want to go into the controllable mod so if you go into um the pause menu then you can find this little controller right here and by default the mod works with um first party xbox playstation and nintendo switch controllers So hopefully your controller should work if not you’ll actually have to um find a program that can turn it into an x input which is actually what i had to do because i actually have a licensed nintendo controller that wasn’t made by the company so i defined a little program called X output that allows me to basically run my controller as if it’s an xbox controller but basically after you’ve done that you can open up the x input and then there’s a bunch of settings in here console hotbar is the one that moves the hot bar from the bottom of the screen to Um a little bit closer to um the middle half of the screen and then there’s a lot of other things like the little mini person um which is kind of bugged a little bit so i don’t play with the mini person but you can also do virtual mouse which Will allow you to have the uh the consolation um cursor but it does replace the mouse um so you’ll still have like the mouse on the screen um as separate from the cursor which is a little weird but hey it’s not going to be perfect and there are programs out There that allow you to hide the mouse if you really want to get into that so now i’ve got my survival world loaded up and you can already see the hot bar is kind of raised up um like it would be on the consolation also my internet’s work not working so i Guess i’m alex for now and you can also see in the corner of the screen um is the little indicators um that tell you what uh the controls you would you’re using now also in the controllable menu oh i didn’t know i didn’t um tell you This but you can rebind the keys if you need to um to your likings um but you can also um add the yeah the icons i have which are on um but you can also change them to playstation 4 playstation 3 xbox one xbox 360 nintendo switch um so if i go Back out right here um you’ll see the corner of the screen now it’s the xbox 360 buttons which is um super nice and this is what i meant by your mouse actually staying there um while you have the little um console edition um cursor on the screen Um that’s honestly not if that’s a big problem for you then like i said there are ways to hide the mouse um through external um programs so it’s not a huge deal you also adjust the speed of your mouse in the menus is also as well as your rotation speed in game Um you can invert look if you like that um you can actually change the look of your um of your cursor so i guess this one is the uh the truly classic uh version but then there’s uh also dark versions light um i kind of like this One um this is the mini player which i’ve kind of told you about already um just to me looks a little bugged um because it’s just kind of it just kind of looks forward it doesn’t actually turn around um it does crouch um but yeah it just Kind of it’s kind of creepy just like staring you in the face like that so personally i don’t use it at all um there’s also a quick craft option um which allows you to um when you’re in a crafting table um go into the crafting book and just like craft up Something really quick that goes in your cursor um i didn’t actually mean to make granite stairs but i wasn’t saving that granite for anything anyway so it’s fine and all in all that’s the controllable mod um but you’ll notice that everything still looks um kind of Dark um so here’s we’re gonna want to open up your shaders now um depending i forget which one is which um okay this is the one that you’re going to have downloaded um which is going to allow you to make the adjustments like you want as closely As you want it to be the other version only allows you to do it by increments of tenths um so this one um is just going to let you do it so much closer so um this is the configuration i found i really like um setting the brightness to 0.54 contrast to 0.44 in contrast to point or saturation to 0.56 um the good thing about that is you can change it to whatever you want whatever you feel um is the best because um of course in classic consolation everyone had a different monitor anyway so it however you think is closest um That’s that can be uh customized um also if your computer can handle it mine can’t quite handle it so i’m not gonna do it but you can change the render quality and the shadow quality uh the times two um which just smooths out everything just a little bit So it’s a bit closer to consolation and you can already see everything is just a little brighter a little softer colors to just match the console edition really well also i don’t know why but my my villagers my villagers hold on can i i uh i you Can set a button to zoom i’m pretty sure um in optifine but i don’t have that set up really quick i don’t have to set that side yet but for some reason my villagers are all um all in this well just kind of stuck um maybe i should probably uh free them but Basically um these are the options i found to make the java edition experience just feel a little bit closer to the legacy console edition and i think especially for video making um i do really like just the smoother effect playing with the controller has i’ve always loved that in videos and felt Like java videos and java edition just feel a little bit janky so i might actually just use the controller um just in videos now as well as the raised top bar because i just really love the hot i just really love the hot bar like that I’ve was i’ve been looking for an option like that for years so yeah and also there are plenty of people online that are um working on mods and resource packs and stuff to make everything just um even closer so this isn’t going to be the end I am willing to bet that there are going to be plenty of things in the future that maybe you know emulate the old consolation um uis and everything but um really quick i just did want to do one last thing i do actually have a copy of Stampy’s lovely world that i used to work on years ago back when i was a stepping mega fan um i still do like him um and he’s actually the the reason i have so much nostalgia for the consolation of minecraft and the reason i got into minecraft in the first place And the reason i started youtube um there’s a lot of reasons and so hopefully you can kind of feel if you have watched some of stampy’s videos um hopefully you can kind of feel that this is uh this is a lot closer um to the consolation light than it would be um on Normal java everything is just you know a little bit softer um oh there also is one last thing i want to do um which is the fov normal by default the fov is at 70 but if you set it to 65 um i can’t really be super accurate with the Controller so i’m just going to leave in 64. um but if you leave it if you said to 65 that’s actually the same fov that you would use on consolation they didn’t have customizable fov um so this is gonna be more accurate um it’s a little less wide a little bit close to Rin and i’ve actually been playing with um this fov for years now um just because i personally just like it a little bit more also if i set the time to um night really quick you can actually see that things at night um look just a little bit brighter um it’s Not nearly as dark um even if you go into cades and stuff everything’s just got a little bit brighter you can see a little bit better just like it would if you were playing in a in console edition um i think also if you set your brightness to um fifty percent um that Is probably going to be a little bit closer but um that’s just like that’s just a little um little thing yeah this is a little bit closer to what i remember so but all that’s still just a little personal um tweaks you can make on your Own if you want to but other than that that’s basically it for this video um i really hope you guys enjoyed um i hope you guys will enjoy um using this um to make your experience just a little bit closer to the good old days but yeah i Hope you guys enjoyed and i will see you in the next one bye Video Information
