Minecraft is now available in vr on the meta quest no pc required questcraft is a standalone vr port of minecraft java edition that offers players access to the full minecraft experience in vr without the need for an expensive gaming pc this includes support for motion controls as well as cross-platform Multiplayer developed by a team of independent developers the unofficial port was built using mcxr and pojav launcher and is capable of running certain fabric mods which is an experimental modding tool chain for minecraft according to one of the project’s developers this is a direct port of minecraft 1.18 which means like Vivecraft which is a popular vr mod for pc vr headsets an official minecraft account is required in order to play here is how to get started first you’re going to want to download the apk and zip files provided by the development team you can download and install the apk directly through Sidequest as well as download the zip file through the pcvr dropdown make sure your account is set to developer mode before you get started this is a totally free process simply sign up for a developer account via the official oculus website and activate developer mode in the settings of your Oculus app once the file has finished installing unzip the zip file you downloaded earlier and drag the android folder into your quest’s internal storage to merge and replace the existing files once the files have finished transferring put your headset on and navigate to your content library select the unknown sources folder in the Drop down menu located in the upper right corner and select pojav launcher you’ll then be asked to sign in to your minecraft account once logged in click the settings option in the bottom left corner and select the renderer option located at the top of the page select the third option provided on the List and head back to the main menu last but not least click on the game version option located at the bottom of the menu to the left of the play button and scroll all the way down to select fabric loader 0.12.12 for some of you this would be the last Option on the list you can now hit the play button and boot up the game this may take a few seconds so don’t panic if you don’t see gameplay right away for the optimal experience the developers recommend adjusting the render distance located in the video settings menu Quest 2 players are recommended to lower their render distance to 5 to 8 chunks while original quest players are recommended to lower theirs to four to five if your game keeps crashing every time you try to load a world try lowering your render distance to three chunks this seems to fix most issues If you’d like to play online with friends you’ll need to jump through a few additional hoops first head to the dot minecraft folder on your pc you can find this by clicking on the installations option in the pc launcher and selecting the folder icon located on the right Copy the server.dat file and open your quest’s internal storage from here select android data then scroll down to net.kdt.pojav launch head to files and finally dot minecraft paste the file here and you’re all set now it’s important to note that this is an unofficial port so expect a fair Share of hiccups along the way i myself have already experienced a fair share of crashes still this is an absolutely incredible port that 100 deserves your undivided attention motion controls cross-platform multiplayer fabric mods it’s all there people for more on the quest and everything vr and ar be sure you’re checking out vrskout.com Video Information
