Yes that’s right you can play minecraft on the quest to native with quest craft i’m not gonna lie it’s not perfect but it does function i’m gonna show you some gameplay really quick just so you can see how well it works how well it doesn’t work and i’m gonna show you how You can get it running on your quest too let’s do all of that right now well would you look at this minecraft running natively on the quest 2. it is a modern miracle almost that this java version is running on the quest to stand alone yes i said stand Alone oh the sun’s going down it’s gonna get dark here soon it’s got track hands it runs native on the quest and now that i’ve actually got it working properly it runs pretty darn good we are in creative mode right now so sorry chicken so i can just take out any Block oops hold on let’s uh oh look a piece of chicken here raw chicken so you can just take out any block and you can build stuff this uh this is running pretty consistently there’s still some frame drops from time to time it’s running pretty consistently right now I had massive problems with the last couple of days or since this was launched i’ve been trying to get this to work properly and i had massive massive crashing issues it wasn’t until i finally made some adjustments to the settings that it actually worked and i’ll show You all the settings that i adjusted to get it working the way that it’s working right now which is stable it crashed every single time i tried it previously until i made these adjustments to the settings we’re still getting some frame drops it’s not running at a super high Frame rate i don’t know if you can tell that with the recording but it’s working so it’s definitely a step in the right direction you can jump in this game by pressing the a button you switch your inventory by pushing up and down on the right thumbstick the right trigger digs And the left trigger hold on it’s an action button hold on just a second let me just get a block here uh let’s see that’s the menu button x is menu back to game y brings you to your tools and crafting and all that kind of stuff let’s get a regular block here And just see Oops i threw it oopsies let’s see if this is what yep okay so the left trigger is what builds you can build the left trigger you take down with the right trigger and activating like doors and stuff using stuff is the left trigger as well and overall like i said ooh look let’s Go get this guy overall it actually works better than i was expecting it to considering how often it crashed i’m not even joking i tried it dozens of times and it crashed every single time until i made some adjustments and that’s not nothing against the people that created It it is amazing that they were able to get it running it’s just it was having issues and this is early too they’re still working on it so i’m sure it’ll get better over time as as they do it my goal with this video really is to give You a real expectation of what you can expect so you can see the pop in and stuff that is a side effect of the quest too it’s taking time holy look you can actually see under the ground it’s taking time to render everything and Is that a witch yep and it’s uh it’s not perfect but if you’re looking for a minecraft experience standalone and you don’t mind it not being perfect then this could be something for you all right now i’m actually going to show you how you can get this running on the Quest platform yes it does work on quest 1 and quest 2 but it works better on the quest 2 obviously due to the additional power that you’re getting to handle what minecraft is doing let me show you how to do it you do have to own a copy of Java minecraft ooh look a slime to be able to get this to work properly because you’ll be logging into your minecraft or microsoft account to actually play this game now now java minecraft is available on game pass pc game pass so my assumption is i have not tested it that you can actually Use game pass and log into your microsoft account and it should be fine i have not tested this don’t take my word for it but if you try it let me know in the comments if it works as i’m not sure if i’ve heard anybody mention that that’s actually workable but you Wouldn’t have to buy the java game if it works properly to do that let’s jump over and i’ll show you exactly how to install this quickly and how it works all right so setup for this is actually fairly simple but you will need to be able to sideload with your quest too if You don’t know how to do that i’ll put a link in the description it’ll show you how you can set it up to actually sideload to your quest in your quest too now assuming that you’re already ready to sideload stuff onto your quest too let’s pop over to a program called Sidequest i’ll put a link down in the description for you to download sidequest if you don’t have it already make sure you download that software and then as soon as that’s downloaded open up that software on your computer now it might be right on the front page as it’s Fairly popular but you’ll see quest craft if you don’t see it look at the top where it says search games and type in questcraft once you’re on the quest craft page you’re gonna see a little button that says download app and then sideload in parentheses click on that Button with your quest to connect it to your pc make sure that the green dot in the upper left hand corner is green and it shows your quest to as connected before you hit that button or it won’t work once you’ve clicked that side load app button it’ll install the apk on your Quest that you’re going to need to start minecraft once that’s all installed click the drop down next to download app and you’ll see it says download app pcvr click that button and it’ll download a zip file now you’re gonna need to put your quest on for a second so it can Allow the computer to access the files on the quest once that’s done unzip the extract to root folder navigate down into the folder and you’ll see another folder that says android now in the folder on your quest to navigate into the internal shared storage then in this Section you’ll see a file called alarms android dcim in that folder drop the new android folder it’ll pop up and ask if you want to merge the files as there’s already a folder called android click the little box that says do this for all files and then click ok now that’ll load All of these files onto your quest too and now before we unplug the quest to here are the couple of tricks that i was able to use to actually get the quest to to run minecraft without crashing these are thanks to tyriel wood i’ll put a Link to his channel down below i watched his minecraft video and it actually allowed me to get this working crash so many times before i did this so in side quest you’re going to hit the little wrench button in the top right hand corner scroll down always until you see It says set ffr this is your fixed foveated rendering click on high top this is going to increase the amount of fixed foveated rendering it’s going to allow for better performance and in minecraft you don’t really notice it anyways to be honest i didn’t notice it So hit high top to turn on high foveated rendering and then go to set gpu and cpu level click on level four and then for default texture size you’re gonna use 10 24. now that seems low but honestly in minecraft you’re not going to pay attention and when you want to reset These settings to play a different game just power off your quest and power it back on and it’ll reset these settings now we’re all done the stuff on the computer let’s jump into the quest 2 headset once you’re in the quest too you’re going to go to your applications Tab and then you’re going to hit the drop down box in the upper right hand corner and hit unknown sources you’re then going to start the pojav launcher minecraft java edition for android as soon as you launch that it’s going to unpack some files to get it working Properly and then it’ll ask you to log in to either your minecraft account or you can log into your microsoft account make sure you hit keep me logged in after you type in your email or username and password so you don’t have to log in every time and if you’ve logged in Previously just hit select account and then hit your username now there are a couple of things you’ll have to do the first time you load into this first up you’re going to hit the settings button in the bottom left-hand corner you’re then going to go to video and renderer And then you’re going to switch the renderer to the third from the top next which i haven’t seen mentioned in other videos but tyrion mentioned it and it actually seems to make a difference switch the resolution scaler down to 80 for now as it doesn’t consistently run If it’s at 100 or at least in my experience it doesn’t now look down by the play button you’ll see a drop down menu you’re going to click on that drop down menu and scroll all the way to the bottom and you’re going to hit the fabric loader at the bottom and then You’re going to hit the big green play button the first time you hit the big green play button it’s going to go through the process of downloading and installing the java version of minecraft as soon as that is done the screen will go black and you’ll see three dots now Don’t run away or exit out just yet it’s gonna take a little bit of time in my experience it takes between 35 and 45 seconds every time to load into minecraft java wait and then as soon as the screen turns red you’ll know that it’s working and then it’ll jump over to The minecraft menu now at first it’ll probably drop a lot of frames and hitch up so just wait a second for it to settle down and then you’ll be able to start accessing the menu system now there’s one more setting that you want to change before we jump into a new World in minecraft now that we’re in the game what you’re going to want to do is go into the options menu then go into video settings and set your render distance to about six chunks everything else should be fine but if you reduce the render distance it’ll reduce the Load on the quest too and it’ll definitely work much better and that’s about it then you can go back to the main menu and you can start playing minecraft now before we jump over to the outro a few thoughts on this and as you’re seeing on screen right now i was Just messing around playing with this version of minecraft i’m extremely impressed with the fact that it’s actually running on the quest 2 which is pretty fantastic in and of itself do not expect a polished experience currently though as i said i had massive problems until i changed these settings getting It to work and even after getting these settings to work it still crashed it’s just the way it is right now as they polish this program quest craft i’m sure it’ll get better it is still early but it should still scratch that minecraft itch if you want to jump in and play Standalone on the quest too i’m not going to lie though you kind of have to really want to play minecraft to actually take the time to do this and play in this fashion it’s cool to jump into but i would much prefer to have official port of the game obviously over To the quest which hopefully someday will actually happen but i’d like to thank the people that worked on this port for java over to the quest to so if you want to play minecraft stand alone this is definitely one way to do it i will say it’s not perfect but it’s still Quite a fun time there you go there is minecraft running with quest craft on the quest too what do you think have you tried it out let me know in the comments what experience you have had with questcraft i know that i was so massively frustrated trying to Get this to work until tyriel’s video allowed me to change some settings i tried messing with the settings myself i don’t know what happened but i got it to work it’s not something i would jump in all of the time just because it’s got frame drops it’s kind of a pain in the Butt to get working all the time but huge props people that got it working and i look forward to see how well it functions as they progress with making it even better but let me know what you think down below is this something you’re going to try out or have you Tried and what was your experience
