How to: Refined Storage | Autocrafting(Minecraft 1.19.2)

Hello world and welcome back to another episode of refined storage where today we’re going to be talking All About Auto crafting to get started in all auto crafting you’re first going to need the craft that makes sense doesn’t it really the crafter is you made using two Advanced processors a machine casing

Construction called deconstruction court and four ports enriched iron and this will give you just one craft in total now you’re gonna need a crafter for a couple of different things you can either have a crafter just to make things automatically or you can use it to actually plug into a machine but

We’ll get more into that in a second the next thing you’re going to need is a pattern grid this is made using a grid an advanced processor and a pattern and last layer patterns made in made using some Redstone glass and some more enriched iron so here we have a basic

Sort of setup we have got here our storage discs where we’ve got a item storage and fluid storage because we’re going to go into fluid crafting today as well we also have our crafting grid which we have discovered previously but this time we’ve got loads of different

Crafts in here and explain all that surely obviously we’ve got the controller to power everything our pattern grid this is what this is here and we have a crafting monitor but we’ll show more about that in a second so starting off say that we want to actually we cut down a forest or

Whatever and we just want to have a load of storage chests on tap and then what we can do is obviously in here I’ve got everything set up but inside the pattern chest this is where we’re going to form everything first we’re gonna have to place down a

Craft the craft is going to be where we place all our patterns once they are configured now the crafter itself will actually just Auto Craft things if it can be done inside of a crafting table so let’s show off for that first first we’re going to need obviously to get

Logs to chess we’re going to need to First make them into planks then into chests and only because I have Quark on I have to do an extra one to get into vanilla chests so that’s why we have three patterns here as it says here we

Get one log equals four oh planks this one’s eight planks equals one chest and this one is one chest equals one chest very simple so inside of here there are going to be two different things by default it probably won’t look like this it may look something more like this

This is where you will set your crafting so first you should put patterns in this slot over here and this is where we set our craft so if we want to have our plank craft to be working in it Place One log in here and it’ll automatically

Know what this is all we have to do is create and then this pattern is made now inside your inventory you can hold shift and it will flick it between what the pattern actually is as you can see here afterwards you just place it inside of

Here as I have done with this one you just place it inside then obviously the next level is the how about well this actually makes them first we’ll just do 64 Oak planks there you go they are starting to create just like that next we want to make some loaded chests where

We do the exact same thing we make a pattern it goes in the next machine and we can place it in here very simple stuff so how about we make just one chest there we go a chest has been created we place one chest in here it

Turns into a vanilla chest we cry after that and we put it in crafter and wouldn’t you know we can now make crafting these on tap and it will do all of it straight from the get go so you can see that the planks aren’t going up

And the other chests aren’t going out because it’s jumping straight to the end result and it’s already taken out of our system what it needs if we decided to take everything out of the system and there wasn’t enough to make the chests something would go very

Very wrong this is where we would want to like to have the crafting monitor now the crafting monitor is made using to improve processes two patterns a lot of glass quartz enriched iron and a machine casing and all the crafting monitor does is when we right click on it it shows

Our monitor what we are actually crafting and how or what steps that we’re in at the moment so we it knows that it currently has this many installed because it already took them out before I took the rest of the logs out and it these are the stages of

Crafting is happening obviously this is quite slow but so something you can do is take speed upgrades put it in the crafter and it will speed up quite rapidly so obviously you can have all the way up to four of these in there and then it would happen rapidly but right

Now obviously we can’t craft anymore now there’s two ways you can craft more while there’s already some here like you can see these ones say craft if I take all these out it has craft as well this is where we can start crafting however there’s a hotkey you can do which is

Shift control and left click which allows me to actually cross of things that already are in the system so if I ask for another 64 of these it would say uh-oh we’re missing these locks it’s not going to work and it won’t even let us start it we can only

Cancel it which is why we need to put these logs back in and if we do shift control and left click again and then do 64 it’ll work one more time but this time with four speed upgrades we can see that it’s a heck of a lot faster in fact it’s already done

Mode here is a little bit different exact mode means that your pattern will always be the exact same thing so there are some items in the game that you could actually have multiple different items so say you wanted to have something to do with cobblestone so you wanted to make this Stone to

Copper furnace upgrade from Iron furnaces as you can see that this can use either Black Stone Cobblestone deep slate or Cobblestone if we had exact mode on what would actually happen is that you could only craft this pattern if you were to actually use Cobblestone

But if you had exact mode off then the system would use every other Block in your inventory that you could possibly use in order to make it so if you have a cobble deep slate in there or Blackstone it would try to make it with those other blocks if they’re available xactimo

Means that we could only use Cobblestone so this is where you’re going to want to use something like that now how about we move on to something a little bit more complicated this is where we get into machine Auto crafting and processing of items not just individually crafting in one single block

To start off with let’s go for something basic the basic smeltery from mechanism you can use this with any other smelter of course but something to note is that you must have the crafter on Top This crafter is actually linked behind the scenes all the way to our original

System all of these blocks here are linked to our original controller which is just here just all behind the wall and looking tidy now things to note the crafter must be in this orientation if you place it down as you can see it’s got a face here or you could sort of use

These lights as an arrow the arrow must be facing into the machine that you would like to use this way when we right click on it it automatically recognizes that this is the basic smeltery Factory which is exactly what this buff is called so this is where we’re going to

Want a brand new pattern this brand new pattern we’re going to say we want this to just simply smelt iron for us so this is where we’re going to go into our crafting grid and first we’re going to need to have some raw iron inside of

Here so let’s put some more iron in then in our pattern grid we’re going to slip this over to processing now you can check here fluids uh fluids in or fluids not this craft is not going to be using fluids will have this unchecked so what

We’ll do here is we place this in here now we don’t want this to be doing this because we know that 64 iron does not equal 13 iron ingots so this is where we want to take this all the way down to one and then take this all the way down

To one obviously you can just have one item and it will click this in here but this will actually still count it as two so we want to make sure this has got rid of so it’s shift left clip to get rid them inside of here

So here we go it’s a one to one this is exactly what the craft is we take this pattern and then we go over to our craft over here and we place this inside now when we go into our system it can actually tell us hey do you want to

Craft loads of these look they’re available to craft so if you hold shift let control and left click we can now say hey can I uh smell 64 of these they’re all available they will then go straight over here and go into the system I am going to muffle that machine

Though now the thing is about this is that the crafter can’t directly take things out of machines by itself I can put them in but it can’t really take them out now luckily this is all configurable but how we’ve simply can take this out of the machine is that we

Just configure the machine or whatever the default output side of this machine is we just put it in Porter now the Importer must always go back into the crafter directly and I’ll show a little bit more why in a second but basically things will break if the Importer

Doesn’t go back to the crafter that initially had that pattern if it goes back into this system just straight through the wall the whole system can hang and actually even though the machine has finished crafting the refinance storage system may think that it actually hasn’t so for now how about

We skip this because that’s a little bit more complicated we go straight into fluid crafting now for fluids we are going to obviously need a fluid grid and this will tell us what is inside our system we currently have 2.1 million buckets of water and we have got 941

Liquid buckets of oxygen we’re going to be covering the water for right now but first how do I have this much water stored foreign episode we have got here a sink from cooking for Blockheads now this can be used as a water source now all I’ve got

On here is a external storage here and this is saying that basically all the water in this is in the system because it’s being used for external storage this is how much we have this water this is how we have this much water So we want to do a couple of different things the first thing we’re going to do is going to make this pattern here this pattern is going to turn water into these uh water flask sort of things I don’t know what they’re specifically called so what we need to do is go over

To our pattern chests and here I’ve got it already configured by default what would happen is obviously you’d have this empty and we want to have a fluid first so if we have water here what we can do is now drag our water over then

We’re going to also want to have our Kim lab uh water over here but we can’t drag it over that’s because we have to deselect fluids before we can drag in items Now by default this is just going to say one and one but that is obviously

Not what the craft is the craft to make it actually work is 500 into eight of these flasks now the reason you want to get these exactly right is because if you don’t get it exactly right it’s either going to give you extra amounts of water giving you extra amounts of um

Flasks and what can happen is that even though your machine or refined storage system will finish the craft and it will update on here being done you’ll get a lot more than you actually asked for likewise if you don’t say that enough gets created it will say that the color

Craft has never been completed because you didn’t say that it would actually be that exact amount it’s a little bit confusing so just make sure that you’re always completely right so obviously we go over to the crafter that’s pointing towards our atomizer here and then that is where we obviously have our pattern

Uh so we can get rid of that we’ve got that in here now as I say before you want this to always go into the one year that you had over here things can break and we’ll show a little bit more in a second so here we’ve got an importer

Because the crafter can’t take things out directly and now this is where we can actually craft these things so we want to craft say 64 of these it will take four Mill buckets of water put them in the system and you’ll start crafting these eight at a time and then sleep

Will start getting sucked out now I think something is a little bit different with this um I don’t know why but with this processing you can actually have the items that you’ve made go into a crafter not necessarily the same crafter as long as it’s a crafter as we’re going to

Demonstrate here things can break which is why we have these covers the next thing we’re going to do is obviously get these floss back into water using the liquifier so here we’ve got a very similar craft but it’s literally the exact opposite eight water bottles turn into half a bucket of water

Very simple we go into our fluid grid shift control left click and now we can make buckets of water let’s just make a thousand Milli buckets of water or one bucket of water there’s gonna take 16 of these and turn it into one of course this goes into here now the funny thing

About this is that you cannot just use the Importer when it comes to fluids you have to use the fluid into place however the fluid interface also cannot take out items directly so you have to pump it into the fluid interface for it to work now because you are doing this and

Pumping it into a fluid interface if you had this go straight into a different part of the machine say we had this going straight into a Crafting monitor here this system does still technically work it will connect and this fluid interface will be active however if we craft this again we’ll just say we want a load of water let’s go for 2000 Miller buckets it’s going to use that water up what’s going to happen

Is if we look inside of our crafting monitor here which one is it this one we can see that the processes are actually working apparently everything I’ve been testing for the last half an hour is completely wrong and this works just fine I don’t understand it it broke before for me and

Apparently it’s not breaking now I would still recommend however if you would like to actually have things not break always go back into your crafter it just makes things a heck of a lot easier so there we go we’ve got item crafting machine crafting and fluid crafting now

Let’s take this one step further which is only really working with mechanism as mechanism have gases but refined storage isn’t capable of actually having gases unless you have a another mod that is uh changing those features now applied energistics I believe does hold gas but this doesn’t so here we’re gonna do

Three or four times crafting with iron now the way this works is that you would have to get iron shards into here but you also need oxygen now oxygen is a gas now we can store in our system with fluid hit liquid oxygen which we have here which I’ve already pre-made in

Now what we’re gonna have to do is obviously turn this into a gas this is where we’re going to need our rotary concentrator this is going to turn liquid oxygen into regular oxygen and that’s going to pump into our purification chamber now inside of here we have created a pattern say that one

Iron Shard turns into one iron ingot now directly this machine here does not turn an iron shot into an eye Ingot so let’s just show the process first if we go into our crafting monitor over here I’ve already set everything up of course all

You can do is just say we want to make some of these so let’s get 10 of these we don’t want to do it with this craft though but this is where things can get a bit confusing we may have to have a separate system for that because

Obviously it’s trying to do this one first not really because of anything to do with priorities but it’s just trying to do that one first so you would want a separate subsystem for something like this so anyway inside of here we want to say we want to make 10 of these that

Says 10 shards turn into 10 ingots now we can say that does that and it will go into the purification chamber turn into chunks that will then get crushed into dirt then the dirty will get cleaned in the enriching chamber then it would get smelted now that works completely fine now it as

You can tell I’ve got this going directly into the same crafter because this is again a place where things can break if this iron goes into this machine over here or somewhere over here first this may not entirely finish because uh it’s just gonna say it’s completely broken

Now why have I done it like this why have I not said liquid oxygen go into this machine and then it also has the iron going to this machine for some reason it’s a little bit complicated and it just doesn’t seem to work I’ve tried many times and it doesn’t work so the

Best way to get around this is that with your stored fluids you just have an exporter the exporter is going to export liquid oxygen with a fluid type on the exporter and this is going to constantly fill it up obviously you’re going to have the internal buffer constantly

Filled but every time you want to do the craft it’s just going to work if you would have this crafter say go onto a tank chest or something like that you couldn’t then pump away into other different things also I don’t think that a sort of item exists where it could be

A tank and a chest at the same time if that item exists you may be able to do it but this is the best way to get around gases really you stick to just having the pattern being the items only and then you directly export any fluids

That you would like to convert into a gas again obviously this cannot obviously pull anything out so here we have an Importer on the final stages and this goes directly back into the original crafter to say that this is completely fixed and working but for now

That is going to be everything when it comes to Auto crafting inside of a fine storage just know that you’ll be fine as long as you have your craft are always pointing directly into your storage always have your input go back into your original crafter as well as having your
