Do you want to learn how to stream on twitch in 2022 well lucky for you in today’s video i’m going to be teaching you exactly that so if that sounds good to you make sure to drop a like on the video to help other people find this video because that’s just how youtube Works and i’m going to keep this video as simple as possible that even your grandma can do it okay maybe maybe not your grandma but maybe your mom yeah yeah probably your mom especially if she can you know use her smartphone you know every once in a while she’ll have to ask Okay where does this bubble do and how does the facebook that and the tweeter there what i’m saying it’s gonna be easy to follow we’re gonna be using a combination of obs studio and own pro in order to get us started streaming on twitch own pro is going to allow us to Have all these cool designs and everything to pop up on our screen what ohm pro is it basically gives you access to a collection of different overlays alerts and tools that’s going to make our streams look a lot more professional so let me just show you how to get this All set up first things first we’re going to need our streaming software that’s what’s going to allow us to stream from our computer and be able to customize everything that the people are seeing on twitch so if you’re wondering how everybody streams and how everybody decorates their stream this is how we’re Gonna do it i’m gonna leave all of the links that you’re gonna need in the description down below but the first thing we’re gonna download is obs studio if you’re using windows which i personally recommend click the windows button and then it’ll download it in the bottom left corner and we’re going to Run that in just a second the second thing we’re going to need is obviously a twitch account because we’re going to be streaming live to twitch so make sure that you have signed up for twitch account twitch.tv sign up for an account and then you’re good to go i’ll also Leave a video in the top right corner explaining how you can customize your twitch account and so that way you can decorate how it looks on the actual twitch page and not the stream page but if you notice this little background right here i’ll show you how to do that I’ll show you how to do the panels on the rest of the videos on the channel but for right now just sign up for a twitch account if you haven’t already next thing that we’re gonna do is open up obs studio and once you open up obs Studio it should look exactly like this this is a nice clean slate very quickly i’m going to tell you what this is about this is our preview screen this is what the stream is going to be seeing so this is how we’re going to be able to add Things and be able to move things around our game our webcam designs all that kind of stuff the bottom left corner this little thing that says scenes right here these are going to be the different scenes so like if someone has like a just chatting screen or a brb screen or Just the main gameplay screen then these are the things that we’re going to be switching between the sources these are the individual pieces that are going to be popping up on the screen so your webcam your gameplay your borders your alerts everything like that is going to be one Of the sources the audio mixer is basically very simple it’s our microphone and our desktop audio the desktop audio is going to be your game play and the game audio coming from your game game game game game game i know i said that word so many times so now that We understand the very basics of the obs studio layout go to the bottom right corner and click settings we’re going to go to this stream tab we’ll click stream and then we’re going to click twitch as our service so make sure that twitch is selected and we’re going to connect our Account so i’m going to click connect account it’s going to bring up this little pop-up window in which we are going to log into our twitch account so log in and i’ll see you on the other side once you’ve logged in you’re going to click this little authorize button to Allow obs studio to connect to your twitch account and you’re good to go so from there we’ll just click apply okay and then now we can see that we have our twitch chat here we got our stream information there and you can actually take these and you can kind of just drag Them and then you can kind of put them where you want so if i want my stream information on the left i can click and drag it until it’s blue there i want my chat let’s say the chat i want on the right side let’s put that there so now We get a little bit of chat i can go ahead and drag this so i can actually read it and uh that looks pretty good to me so now that we have our twitch account connected to obs studio let’s actually head over to owned pro to get everything start looking nice and clean I’m gonna leave this link in the description down below so you can click it there we’re gonna use the free version for the purposes of this video so you guys can all follow along at home but if you want you can upgrade to the paid version which is actually quite Cheap and you’re gonna get access to way more overlays alerts and everything else so you have more freedom and variety to design your streams but once you’ve clicked the link in the description down below for own pro you’ll notice that we have a little sign here that says join For free so we’ll click join for free and it’ll redirect us to login with our twitch account so click the twitch button now it’ll prompt you for your username and password so put that in once you’ve logged in it’ll put you on this little dashboard right here if you Notice there’s usually a sale running so it says click here stream to save 40 off the yearly plan which will give you access to way more things so if we were to click this little banner or click upgrade now we can go to upgrade if you Want and then as you can see it says free plan but we can actually click upgrade now and we can do the yearly plan which is only five dollars a month because we put in our little promo code it’s normally a hundred so sixty dollars divided by twelve that’s five dollars a Month and that’ll give you access to 410 overlays 410 alerts and all that good stuff instead of having a limited selection which we’re going to be working with for this video so if you decide to do that you can go through the checkout and do that but for the Purposes of this video i’m going to go back so you can see on the left side that we have a few different tabs we have statistics which will show you your followers your subscribers and all that good stuff if we click on all overlays This is where it starts to get fun if we go down then you’ll see that these things have premium next to them meaning that all of these different overlays with premium on it you can only use if you have a premium account so for this video we’re gonna have to find one that Is not premium so as you can see there’s a bunch to choose from there but right now we need to go back to dashboard and then from dashboard you’ll see download obs plugin because that’s how we’re going to connect owned to obs so we’ll click on download give that a second to Download and then we’ll just run it by clicking it after we run it we’ll give it a second to pop up we accept the agreement hit next next yes we want to install it in that folder hit next install give it a second to install hit Finish and now we can go back to obs studio so we need to restart obs studio because we just added a new plugin so exit out of obs studio and just open it back up now we’ll go to tools and then at the very bottom you can see it says Owned pro so we’ll click own pro and this is going to be how we’re going to import all of our different overlays and all that good stuff so it’s actually going to open up a new tab up here which we’re gonna have to log in with our Twitch account so let’s click log in it’s gonna ask are you trying to log in from your computer yes that’s me so i’m gonna hit yes and log in so now it says that you’re logged in so let’s actually go back to obs studio so now that we’re Back in obs studio you can see that we have this nice little window popped up and it can give us all these different free overlays to choose from so i actually kind of like this uh chroma one but you can feel free to scroll through some of these there aren’t that many Selections because we are on the free version it looks like there’s only about five to choose from from the free version so let’s just uh do chroma fully animated chroma because i like the colors i like the little chroma key rgb so if we look at the bottom we get a Starting soon screen so this will be one of our scenes that we can go and switch between you can add in your socials all that good stuff and then if we click on showcase this will be everything that’s included in the package so you know you got your little alert things in the Bottom those little stream labels you got the little intermission screen that’s going to be another scene and then you also have alerts you got your webcam overlays a little borders and all that good stuff so we like this one so i’m gonna actually click install and It’s the my favorite thing about own is actually how easy it is to set up like look at how easy this is all we had to do is click one button which was install and then now we have all these different scenes so they hook you up very very Easily so right now we’re on the starting soon screen kind of hard to say but if we click on just chatting down here in the bottom left corner to scenes we’ll just click it it’ll transition oh look at that transition it even put the transition there for us to our just Chatting screen so if we have our webcam right here then we’d be popping up there so if we click live scene so this is what’s going to look like when you know we’re playing our game then this is what it’s going to look like so this is Actually going to show all the different things so we can actually just pick one and just rock with that so to keep it very easy we’ll look at the sources right here well actually no let’s actually go back so we’ll click on just chatting we’ll start with the very Simple window just chatting is just you and the chat so if we want to add our webcam for this just chatting screen we’ll go click this little plus button under sources because we’re adding a new source we’re adding something new to our stream so we’re going to click on The little plus button down here we’ll click on video capture device with a little camera next to it makes it pretty easy to find you know so i’ll left click that and we’ll just call it webcam one and then i will hit ok and then from here it’s going to bring Up all of your different webcam devices you have plugged in with your computer i’m going to drop this down and use my other webcam which is the c920 which will pop up right in the corner of my room so as you can see this is what it Looks like you can also change your resolution your fps all that good stuff i know my stuff is 1080p i believe so i’m gonna hit custom i’m gonna go to resolution this depends on whatever your webcam is so if you got a 1080p webcam then i would recommend using 1080. so I’ll do that match fps that’s fine everything else is good however now you can notice that our webcam is super large but this is also a great time to talk to you about how things work in the sources if you look down in the sources right here the webcam is above all these Other things which means it’s going to cover up everything else so if we make this smaller by dragging the corner down you can see that everything else is hidden behind it meaning that if i had my webcam behind everything else we’re not going to see Any of this so you can see right now the webcam is behind everything else so if i were to have it just up here you wouldn’t see me so on and so forth but luckily the own pro the little screen here makes it easy because they actually Cut out this part here for you so you don’t have to layer it on top which is actually really nice put the webcam here or if you want you know you can squeeze it in the middle it really doesn’t matter it depends on what you’re going To be behind and in front of so i’m actually going to bring this back to the bottom and then we can just kind of fill it out use the little corners to make your webcam fit as much as you want you can kind of mess around with that Now we have our little just chatting screen which that was super easy all we had to do was put in our webcam so if you wanted to change your streamer name you can see this little folder here and either double-click it or click the little arrow and this will bring up Everything else so you can see this is the youtube icon this is youtube it says streamer name i’m going to double click it change it to your name see pause music in my case so i can just hit that you can change the font do all that stuff but to keep it Very simple i’m just going to leave it like that i’ll hit okay we can do the same for instagram and we can do the same for twitter and there we go we already have a fully customized like just chatting screen and it was super easy to took you know a Minute or two so now we have this little screen so that’s all good so now if we do starting soon we actually don’t have to do anything because this is you know already good from the last one so you see we already have our socials we didn’t have to update that again and We’ll just set up our live scene because this is probably the hardest for beginners to you know figure out what the heck to do first things first you want to figure out which ones you want to use to keep things extremely simple i’m just going to pick this nice little Webcam overlay uh right here the little border so that’s the one that’s selected meaning that i can just click on this one and i’ll hit this little i and if i click the i it’ll close the eye meaning we can’t see it so just a little tip for You there then we have a more minimal one there i don’t want that one either and then we got this one right here don’t want that one let me make sure that we actually click that and not the alerts so that one’s good so we actually Just want webcam one and so let’s just put it i don’t know maybe like uh like right let’s do right over here and so we’ll do the same thing we’ll go and uh click the little plus button here we’ll click on video capture device uh we’ll do add Existing because we have our webcam already so i’ll just click webcam one after hitting add existing hit ok and then we have to do the same thing we got to resize it to fit this little overlay make sure we put our webcam behind everything else and then we can kind of You know just stretch it how we want if it doesn’t fit perfectly if you’re on keyboard then you can hit alt so hold down the alt key and drag and you can actually cut it so it fits perfectly to how you want it so i’ve done that this is my webcam and we’re Basically good to go we got our stream alerts already set up surprisingly so we don’t even have to do anything there and then the last thing you’d have to do is actually just put your game in so let’s boot up a game all right so i’ve booted Up a game called outlast and what i’m going to do now is hit alt tab and we’ll go back to obs studio so from here there’s a couple different ways in how we’re going to capture our game so if one doesn’t work for you don’t panic You can use one of the other two so we’ll hit add and the first one we’ll start with is game capture and then we’ll just hit ok and then now it has a mode it says capture any full screen application but actually we want to capture a specific window and then we’ll Click on window and then we can click on outlast give that a second to load we’ll hit ok and then now you can see it’s actually a black screen because i’m actually not playing it right now it’s over here if i were to you know start The game then it would load and you can do it that way but make sure that your game capture is beneath everything else because you want it to be behind everything else so if you don’t want to use game capture you can also use a window capture we’ll click plus add but For window capture it has to be in borderless full screen mode so if your game doesn’t have that option and you don’t have it in windowed mode it’s not going to show up on the list so for this example it’s not going to show up so if We go to window capture we’re gonna add a new window capture and it’ll pick up steam we don’t wanna we don’t want steam to be picked up though we want outlast to be picked up however outlast is not on this list but if we go back let’s Actually go into outlast and see if it has a windowed setting so we’ll click options we’ll go to graphics maybe we’ll get lucky full screen yeah we’ll turn that off real quick we’ll hit apply we’re in windowed mode so now if we go back to obs studio wherever it is Now we can go and add a window capture which i’ve already added multiple but i’ll just add a new one so we’ll add a window capture hit ok and then now it automatically picked up outlast just like that so if you wanted you could do that as well And if you notice that it’s not fitting up in the entire screen you can actually just right click it so make sure that window capture is selected and then you can right click it in the sources make it easier transform and then you can just stretch the screen and so that’ll Be full screen and you can see that it’s not like active right now because i’m not actively playing the game but i assure you that it’ll act to be playing when you’re playing it’s just a full screen game if both of these options are not good enough for you you can always Just use the display capture and that’s what i use however sometimes it does it won’t work depending on what kind of graphics card you have so last option you have display capture this will capture everything that showed up on your monitor if you are you know going Through your email and you’re on that monitor then they’re going to be able to see it so in this case i’m going to show you guys my monitor that shows obs so it’s going to look a little wonky so it’s going to be a capture and a capture So i’ll click display capture hit ok and right now it’s capturing my first monitor which is what we’re looking at right now which is why it looks so endless but you could use this and it will capture everything on your screen but just make sure to drag to the bottom And oh my god i’m going to have an aneurysm that is a something i want to see but you have any of those options you can use game capture window capture display capture you you can use any kind of capture you want for whatever needs you have so for this instance i’m just Going to use a window capture because it has the game in the back now that we’ve done all of that we have our live we have like our gameplay scene we got our starting soon screen to start off your stream and then we got a little just Chatting screen as well so if you want to just sit and just talk to your chat one last thing before we you know end this all and wrap it up let’s go to our settings if we go to the output tab this is where things get complicated for Newcomers i’m going to leave a video in the top right corner that i made an entire video explaining exactly what settings you need to put here and the numbers that you got to put it’s just too complex to go over in this one video because everyone has a different Computer everyone has different internet speed and that video just walks you through step by step for which numbers to put in however just you know keeps everything very simple if you got like a decent computer right now you can just copy the settings i have on here just You know for purposes sake but i really do recommend go watch that video and you’ll know exactly what numbers put in here because like i said everyone’s gonna have a different number because we all got different internet speeds we all got different computers so go watch that Video the top right corner come back to this one after you’ve done that you can go to the audio tab and this is where we set up our game audio and our microphone so if we have a microphone plugged in go to the mic section click on the little Drop down bar and then you can pick your microphone from this list and then from desktop audio usually you’ll be fine with default but for whatever reason you’re not hearing your game audio you can click on here find where your game audio is coming out from so usually it’s Your computer speakers find that and in this instance i know it’s audiobox usb 96 for me because that’s you know the thing that i’m using and that’s everything’s running through so that’s gonna be the two settings for audio your desktop audio and your microphone after That you go to video you got to figure out what monitor size you’re playing on right now i’m playing on a 1080p monitor so i choose the 1920×1080 which i feel like most of you guys are playing on unless you’re playing on like square monitors or like Ultra wide monitors stuff like that the output scaled resolution is what you want to be streaming to twitch at and so this is also going to vary on what your internet speed is so that video will explain this section as well but if you’re streaming at 1080p or you want to Stream at 1080p then you put 1080 you want to do 720 then you do that so on and so forth downscale filter is landscapes it’s the best one they got and the fps value is 60 fps by the way if i’m talking too fast that’s the power Of youtube you can turn it watch it again slow it down all that good stuff but i just want to make sure i’m not wasting any of your time and then the hot keys this is where you can add your different switchers for the scene so if Like if you want to add like a hotkey whenever you press like the number one then it’ll switch to your just chatting two for starting soon so on and so forth then you can see right here so if i want to switch to my just chatting screen I’ll click here i’ll type in the number two or hit whatever key you want to use that is for and then any time that you press that key it’ll switch to that scene but there’s so much stuff you can do with the hotkeys you can just kind of Mess around with it so now that we have everything all set up we’re all good to go we’ll just hit apply we’ll hit ok and then once you’re ready to go all you’ll hit is start streaming and then you’ll see that it says your live and if you Have like a little red square then that means that you need to change your settings that i mentioned in that video earlier so go watch that video and make sure you have the right settings but then yeah once you hit start streaming you’re good to go that start streaming Button will turn to end stream and that’s how you end your stream as well Video Information
