Hi i’m george i’ll be showing you how to make an animated texture here inside of minecraft we’ll be doing that animated sword right there let’s get a real nice close view in it there we are looks pretty good okay in this video we’re going to be joined by some friends back there We have lucy right here and right there is edgar and back in the control booth back there spinning the discs that skip let’s see if you can see his face there we go that skip back in the control room okay to make this we’ll have to do just A few things it’s actually pretty easy once you understand the process and you can then animate any texture that you want to animate for this let’s switch over to the desktop and we’ll get to work on this all right the first thing you’ll need are some files in here and i’ll show you Where to get those in just a second i already have mine in here and the pack png file i made this myself this is simply a square image and i named it pac.png that’s all you have to do the game comes with one that’s just kind of a dirt block Pretty boring you can make your own in the game it’s 128 by 128 i have mine here at 56 by 256 gives me a little bit more detail that’s fine over here is the pack.mcmetafile i’ll show you where to get this in just a second And then we have a folder in here that has the images for our textures and that’s right in here okay let me show you where you can get all this stuff first thing just bring up the launcher from minecraft let me bring that up okay here’s the launcher now go up here It says installations and then find the version that you’re playing it should be the top one on your list and where it says the play oh just to the right of that there’s this little icon here looks like a folder click on that and that takes you right to the right folder here Inside of your hard drive let’s get this out of the way so here we are there’s our folder come down where it says versions and that’s right here open that up and then find your version of minecraft right now i’m in 1.16.5 and that’s right here Go inside of that folder and then take the jar file which is the top one if you don’t see the dot jar go to the view menu go over here it says find them extensions check that and then you should see that dot jar now just take it i’m just going to right Drag over here and choose copy there it is okay that’s all we need this for right now let’s just get that out of the way now in here we need to open this thing up if you have winrar you can open up with that if you have 7zip that works if you don’t have either of those all you actually have to do is just to change the jar to dot zip just type over it like that and then choose this there we go it’s now a zip file now i’m going to right click on this And i’ll choose open in new window so it’s just sitting over here on the side there we go now we’re inside of the zip file first off we need to get our pack mc meta and if you want to the default pack.png now it’s right here in this list it’s Just going to scroll down it’s quite always down towards the bottom way down here when it just passed me back up just a little bit here there we go there’s the pack mcmeta and here’s the pack png just copy those files over here into your working folder Now your working folder can be anywhere you want i just made a new folder on my hard drive i called it sword and i’m putting everything inside of here again anything you want just make a new folder for that i’ve already copied mine over of course i made my own right There for the pack png so that’s all set to go we can get this over here again and go back up to the top we now need our graphics for this go inside of assets inside of minecraft inside of textures right here and then come down and go inside of item Right there and in here let me change the view on this to large icons so it’s better layout in here find the one you want to work with i’m doing the iron sword so let’s go ahead we’ll scroll down and find iron sword and that’s right there iron sword dot Png and you can just copy that over in here just right drag and copy and there’s that iron sword png right here this is the basis for everything okay now beyond that we need one more file go back here once up to textures go up into block and then set this to Large icons again here we go now we need to have an animation mc meta file in here let’s go ahead and we’ll scroll down a little bit on this see here’s one for blast furnace right there come a bit further find one okay here’s a nice campfire.png.mcemit just take this Right drag over here and copy that there we go okay i’m done now with the zip file i’m going to go ahead and close that down now this needs to just be renamed the same as this file here it’s easy to do just select that name like that right click copy Go over here and then in front of that dot imps meta leave that alone right click and paste so the name of your file your image should be the same right up here and then dot mcmeta after that now i’m opening this thing up inside of notepad plus plus this is a free Download let me show you that site here real fast here we go against a free download i’ll put this link in the description as well so you can just click on that to go right here and then go to download right there and describe the top one this should be the newest release Download that and install that again it’s a free download and it’s a great editor when you’re doing some of these fancier things go ahead and we’ll close that out that’s what i’m using right here now we don’t actually need that for this particular video but i will be doing more of these types Of things in future videos and for those videos you’re going to want to have notepad plus plus for those so go ahead and get it now so that you’re all set to go let’s go ahead and open this thing up here we go all this has It just says animation right here and it gives me the frame time this is how fast the animation plays right now it’s gonna be playing two frames per second so you can control how fast it plays just by changing that number right there a higher number is going to change Faster a lower number is going to change slower okay there we go that’s all we need on this one now we then need to set up our assets folder so make a new folder named assets like i have right here open that up and that’s the new folder button right there Make a new folder in here called minecraft go inside of this make a new folder called textures inside of that new folder called item this is exactly the same location that we took that image out of and in here we’ll be building the actual stuff right Here so all you need to do is just to take your iron sword here and the iron sword png mc meta and copy those into that other folder it’s already inside here and there we go so everything is inside this folder i have three versions in here just to show you these Inside of paint.net we’re looking at that in just a second this is the actual working file right there ironsword.png and then there is that mcmet ironstory.png.mcmeta okay let’s now open up paint.net we first show you where i can getpaint.net this is also a free download and bring that up this is at Getpaint.net you can see it right there again i’ll put this inside of the description so you can click on that and go right here go to the download page and in the download page scroll down you want the second one right down here where it says downloadnow.pdm this is the free one Let’s get that out of the way all right i’ll go ahead and open these things up inside of paint.net and i’ll walk you through what i did to build this file right here okay we’re here inside of paint.net and there’s the original iron sword image right there now first you need to Do this is really small you need to make this just a bit bigger i just went up doubling the size and to do that go up here to image come down to resize right here it says 16 by 16 just make that 32 by 32 choose okay and that makes it Twice as big now simply make your new sword right on top of this normally i’ll put in a new layer above this like that new layer button i’ll make my new sword on top right there so it’s the right size and then i’ll simply hide that background layer and then work with the New sword okay let me show you that one and that’s right here so i made this exactly like that i just deleted that one layer i no longer needed that now on this one i’m going to zoom in a bit here is one little tricky thing on this i wanted to show you And that’s that i have transparency in here see that transparency in there so the white middle this is solid the next line right there it’s a blue that is at eighty percent solid or eighty percent opacity the next one is at sixty percent opacity and the outside one here is at forty percent Opacity same thing on the other side so it goes more transparent as it goes down towards the outside okay easy to do and that’s all i did there let’s now just back out of that a little bit now once we have your sword made to get the multiple colors In here we need to make this image a lot taller it’ll look like this when we’re finished there we go so to do that i’m just going to make this thing six times as tall as this so let’s go up here to image come down to canvas size right There and then change the height up here to 192 and down here it says anchor sit that at the very bottom right down there and then choose ok and if i scroll down you can see there is the image at the bottom and here’s a Whole line of that file let me just back up just a little bit here so you can see the whole thing there we go now i need to get rid of this white stuff in here so i’ll just grab the selection tool up here make sure you’re on replace and then I’ll just drag a selection down right down to the top of that bottom section right there hit the delete key and now i have transparency in the background let’s now zoom in a little bit here so you can see this bit better right there it looks pretty good And then going back to that selection tool under the bottom left-hand corner and i’ll pull the selection up like this just to the top of that sword right here and then let’s do an edit copy and then click inside to deselect and then edit paste and with the move tool right here I can now pull that straight up just above your previous one so it’s right there overlapping and right there it’s just above that now go up just a little bit in here this is still selected so edit copy and then edit paste and pull that straight above There we go and then just do that three more times and you’ll have a line of swords clear to the top of this file now to change the color all you have to do is come in here select one of these same tool again and just click outside Here and i’ll pull a section right around this middle sword right here and go up to adjustments come down to hue saturation and now i can change the color of this sword to anything i want so if you pull this slider control like that and i can find Any color i want this to go kind of a darkish blue here like a bit more saturation on that like right around here someplace there we go and that’s now a dark color choose okay same trick click in here just to deselect that come down to our bottom One and again i’ll pull a selection just around the sword like that same thing again adjustments hue saturation and this time let’s just pull this clear to the right side over here a bit more saturation get nice red in there and choose okay and then deselect So we now have three of those colored swords and again just do the exact same thing for three more above here give them different colors and then we’re all set for that final file so what i have over here is that six of these are stacked And they change colors all the way down so the width is the same as the original and then we just have six of those stacked up like that giving us that nice multi-colored look in here we’re now ready to go ahead and make this as an animation That’s all you have to do now inside of minecraft it considers each one of these parts up here as one frame of the animation this is frame zero what always calls the first frame zero and it starts at the top so that’s frame zero and then this one right here would be Frame one next one down here is going to be frame two and so forth clear down to the bottom you can make as many frames as you want to make this as smooth as you want usually smaller files and fewer frames is better for minecraft minecraft likes Small files okay so that’s all there is to making the actual image to make our animation let’s now go back to our working folder and take a look at that let me just delete the ones that we don’t need that’s that one and that one knows the examples So here we go there is our animated image and this is the mc meta that runs that animation you need both of these in this folder okay now back up back to the working folder right here it says sword i don’t need this i don’t need that and I don’t need this any longer let me just delete those things those are the working files there we go you need these need that assets folder need your pack.mcmeta which we saw how to get that and you need something for your pack.png if you want to Let’s now select these go up to share click on zip and let’s give this one a name because i want animated swords too there we go okay we now need to get this over into the game so let’s bring that launcher back up again there we are back to the same location In here same thing go back over here to that folder right there click on that that brings up the folder in here come down where it says resource packs open that up and you want to copy or drag your zip file over into here let’s get the launcher out of the way So we have that right there and here’s our zip i’m just going to drag it in like that there we go that’s all set okay and we’re back to the launcher again okay back to play okay now go ahead and play this i’m going to skip through this Bit here where it just loads in the game once the game is loaded in will then activate that resource pack okay here at the title screen click on options and resource packs on the left hand side you should find that there it is animated swords 2. Click on that comes over here to the right hand side that’s now been installed in the game let’s get this out of the way there we go okay come down click on done this will then take us into the game and we should see that animated sir click on done again single player There’s my main world right there this will load in real fast and there we go there’s our nice animated sword it’s that easy to do if you have any problems at all just leave me a comment i try to answer every single comment so i’ll be there to help you Get this working out for you inside of your resource pack make sure you hit like click on share and subscribe to my channel i’ll be doing a lot more of these videos as we get into doing some fancier stuff with the json files and some programming and things As we move further forward this year okay and i’ll see you next time Video Information
