I Built a Giant FLOATING ISLAND in Minecraft Hardcore! (#32)

And check it out but i just want to say thank you for like the great response to that video you guys really seem to enjoy me building and because of that we’re going to do some more building today so let’s go do it but now of course before we can get

Started on today’s episode there’s one thing we got to do and that’s expand our giant melon farm alright so let’s get to work now i often get asked like how long it takes me to add 200 melons at the start of every episode i don’t know if you guys are under the

Impression that this took a long time but it takes like no more than five minutes it’s super quick All right and just like that i’ve added another 200 melons to the melon farm for today i do this at the start of every hardcore minecraft episode so if you want to see how big this melon farm ends up getting make sure to subscribe and now that

That’s out of the way let’s get into today’s building project all right so it’s no secret you saw in the title today we’re going to be building a floating island which will be like super cool i think and where i actually want to build it if i

Fly into the air here i want to build it right here where this like little island is in the middle of this lake but what i want to do is kind of make it look like this island has like come out of the earth so what i’m going

To do is i’m not only going to build a floating island above this i’m also going to dig out a large crater in this area as well but to begin with we’re going to have to do a lot of building up high in the air today

And before we can do that we’re going to have to make a bunch of scaffolding blocks to help us out for the first time in a while we can use some of the bamboo that we’ve got unfortunately i’ve got a lot of string for my gunpowder farm as well so that’s

No worries how do i make scaffolding again i literally don’t remember is it like this nice it literally as well that was easy all right so once again today we’re going to be building something that requires a lot of grass and dirt and stone and uh thankfully we still have all

These shulker boxes from the last video filled with all that stuff so to get started the first thing we got to do is come to around the center point around here So i want to go up probably about 40 blocks and then we’ll start from there all right so now here we are at the top and we’re going to place the very first block and from here we can build it up and out so obviously a floating island the

Bottom of it’s going to be stone and the top of it’s going to be grass we’re starting from the very the very bottom and we can go layer after layer like so it’s gonna require us to do a bit of like freestyling with this i’m just gonna add a few layers now kind

Of just do what feels right add blocks as i go and then we’ll fly down and see what it looks like and adjust it later on so obviously i don’t want this to look too like symmetrical i want to have it fairly random and look like it was

Looks like it could have been like naturally generated into the game or try and be as random and spontaneous as i can possibly be while building this also another thing to keep in mind is we want this to end up quite wide so we might need to start

Widening it quite a lot now also i could make this hollow that would save a lot of blocks but also it’s just cooler if it’s not hollow i would later go on to regret saying That All right and since i’m getting so curious i’ve just i’ve got to go down there i’ve got to see what this looks like so far it could look stupid for all i know so it’s probably good that we we uh take a look okay no i’m liking that i’m liking that

Well i’m just gonna keep adding a bunch of layers of stone we’re gonna be building with stone for quite a while here but eventually we’re gonna introduce some grass and dirt so far i was happy enough with the shape of our island but it was clear we had a

Lot of work to go and as i kept building more and more layers i quickly realized i was going to need a lot more stone than what i had so i began just building a hollow shell of our island first so we could figure out its shape Now i honestly think the bottom bit of it could be looking a lot sharper and lower now i think i’ve flattened it out too fast all right i think i finally want to start sprinkling in some dirt with God damn it gotta actually start lining this up now are you serious Right yeah that definitely works now i think instead of continuing to go like out and out and out forever we’re gonna have to start just going kind of straight up a bit but soon we’ll start just doing layers of dirt and dirt only in fact we might start doing that from now on

So we were very close to having the shape of our island finished i just had to add a couple more layers of dirt and then one more layer where we would have our grass on top of that also we’ve managed to build this directly into the clouds which i don’t

Know if i’m happy about maybe i wish we were just a little bit higher so the clouds weren’t like directly where we want our island to be but should have put more thought into that earlier i can’t even i can’t even see what i’m doing right so i think i’m going to do

One more layer of dirt and then this layer here is where i’m going to put the grass because this is actually if i come over here you can see it’s above the clouds so then we won’t get this like layer of cloud of the top of our island we’ll be just

Above it so that’s what i’m going to do and after about 10 more minutes of work we had finally finished our island well sort of we’ve now built a giant soup bowl in the sky i think that looks alright i don’t know it’d be too hard to really change it now

So now i have a couple of options i could leave it hollow but i said i wouldn’t and i’m going to stick by that so our next step here is actually going to be the to fill the whole thing in now to most of you guys this probably seems like a complete

Waste of time and stone and it probably is i don’t know something about doing this to me makes the whole build feel a lot more authentic like when i see this giant floating island in the sky i know that’s not just a hollow island i know that thing is solid it is

A solid piece of land floating in the sky and i know i placed every single one of those blocks so yeah although this isn’t necessary to me it is important so i’m going to do it but hey i only want to waste my time not yours so let’s quickly get this over

And done with anyway now that i’ve done all the stone now it’s time to do a few layers of dirt what the hell oh my god i can’t see this is dumb oh my god i’m insane wait a minute oh let me try this again Oh my god i’m not missing we’ve done it we’ve fully filled in the top of our island now obviously our island was still far from being finished but now we at least had the giant landmass floating in the sky we could move on to the second part of

This project which was digging a really big hole All right so as i’ve mentioned already underneath this island i want to dig out a crater so it like appears as if that island above us has like been ripped out of the earth so obviously the next step now is for us to dig out that crater underneath our

Island and we’re gonna go from just placing blocks to just breaking blocks that’s all this is gonna be but first i’m just gonna clear out all the trees in this area first i just want to set up a bit of a chest area over here since we’re about

To be breaking a lot of blocks and we’re going to need somewhere to put all those blocks so let me just quickly all right then one final thing i want to do is just mark out a rough area which will be where we’re going to be digging out which roughly matches the

Island above it definitely doesn’t have to be exact all right so with that all roughly marked out now i think all that’s really left for us to do is to just get digging i don’t think this will take quite as long as placing all the blocks

Yeah it’s definitely going to be just as tedious all right now obviously all these little farms i’ve made here are gonna have to go which is fine because i’m not really too attached to them but yeah they’re definitely in the way of what we’re trying to do here All right so obviously this hole has to mimic the island above us so we’re not going to dig from the outside like straight down the outside’s going to be quite shallow and it’ll get deeper towards the middle if you watch this video and you get inspired to build something like this

Maybe dig your giant divot before you create the island above because this may look nice and bright right now but as you can see that’s blocking out the sun and mobs are just constantly spawning under this thing oh that’s horrible yeah that’s not that’s not great it’s

Gonna be fun i might quickly set up a beacon to give us some haste to make this project a lot faster because obviously this this may take a while all right don’t mind me beacon just gonna steal you for a little while thank you there you are

Haste 2 thank you very much now it’s time for us to get digging now this cuts through like butter that is ridiculous is this even legal what what is this speed so i don’t exactly know what my plan is to make sure this takes shape

But i will just keep on digging until it does okay that’s kind of something right we’re kind of making progress all right so i found that starting from the outside and actually going in actually makes more sense to me so i start by like digging out like a ring

And then digging out like the inside yeah i’ve just done another layer so now i’ll dig down at this level again and i’ll go around the outside like so then we just dig out the center and then we just repeat that over and over until eventually we have a decent looking

Crater and yeah we’re gonna have to keep an eye on our tools to make sure they don’t break because we are obviously breaking blocks super fast right now and if i don’t pay attention i’ll break my pickaxe and i will be very sad so What the hell Oh my god that worked out it worked out fairly well i was fairly happy with our pit so far but i quickly made a few adjustments just to make it even better and then there was only one last thing to do and step two would be complete i would say that’s

That’s pretty much it we’ve pretty much dug our little crater the only real thing we have to do now is to tidy up around the edges and kind of like terraform it in to look kind of natural so yeah let’s just tidy up around the edges now all right yeah and

Now for an effect that’s gonna look really cool is if we let all the water from the surrounding rivers run down into this thing and it’s i think it’s really gonna add to it like blending with the rest of the environment if i do this so now

We had a giant floating island in the sky and a large crater underneath it which blended in great with the environment around it and with all that done now it was time for step three making this build look great with all the details All right so how’d you look get on my island then you want to explain yourself how did you get here well i guess as long as you want to stay here you can be here that’s fine whatever i don’t mind anyway our next task to do right now is

We need to terraform our island here to make it look a lot less a lot more natural because obviously we don’t just want this thing to just be flat it looks very awkward right now i can’t lie i’m very sick of doing this placing and breaking blocks this is very

Tedious all right that already makes it a little more interesting but there’s still obviously more layers we can add All right and i think we should just add a few more little areas of dirt just little ones down here all right so this is obviously looking a lot more interesting now but now we’re going to make this island look good and there’s a lot of questions i’ve got to ask myself

Like do i want to build something on here or do i just want it to just remain just a random island floating in the sky wait i’m actually so curious when you use bone meal on grass in a flower biome will you get like all the different random flowers

This needs to be answered this is so important you do when you don’t get that many but you definitely do get different flowers to what you would usually get oh my god there it is it’s so epic i love it all right so let’s just get started by

Spamming some bone meal all over the place all right now we get rid of that disgusting long grass because we hate that stuff all right that’s looking quite nice now to add a bit more flower diversity all over the place all right well mission accomplished we’ve got some nice grass up here we’ve

Got flowers all over the place last thing i want to add that’s like natural is we’ll add some trees we’ll get some oak and some birch up here and then we’ll start doing some really cool and fun stuff with it all right well this is looking awesome i

Think all right let’s get a look at this from a distance yeah that’s cool that’s really cool first things first we need to do another lake we can’t have a floating island in the sky without having a body of water on it Uh i’m gonna clear up my inventory but yeah we need to bring up some water all right let’s fill everything in with water you guys know the next step now we’re going to add some depth to the thing wait what happened here and now to make it look a bit more uh

Natural i’m gonna add some more sand and gravel underwater here to make it seem like you know the sort of river you would find in a minecraft world All right and one final touch we’re gonna add is we’re gonna bone meal this this is something a lot of you guys asked me to do in my lake in the end but i i wish i had thought of it before but no thank you guys so much because now i

Remember to do it up here and it does make it look a lot better and the last thing we’re going to do to make this look really really cool is we’re going to dig a few of these blocks out here and now we’ve got a river running all the way off the edge

Oh yeah no that is good i like that a lot now i could stop right there and the build would feel complete we’ve got the island and we’ve got the hole but there’s just one detail i’ve wanted to add from the very beginning which i think could add a lot

So obviously we’ve got this creation here we’ve got our island we’ve got the crater but to add to like the storyline of the whole build what i actually want to do is add i don’t know how this will look i’m hoping it’ll look good but i want to add

Some chains going from the island and coming down and joining up with the earth to make it look as if the island has been chained down to prevent it from just floating off into the sky forever i think it’ll look really cool i just hope

I just hope it doesn’t look too tacky i hope i can make it look good the block i’m going to use for the chains is going to be just iron fortunately we have tons of iron blocks because you know iron farm all right up we go okay so where the chain actually meets

The island i want to have this like clump of cobblestone kind of connected to it i can’t lie to begin with building this chain was kind of difficult i had to constantly go lower on my scaffolding and also i hadn’t figured out the pattern yet but

The more i did it the better i got and in no time at all i was building like a pro them all together all right let’s get a quick look at this before we get too far and think it looks bad no i think that looks really good i

Was thinking i would only do two chains two chains and after another 10 minutes of tedious building up in the sky we had finally finished one of those chains and now we just had to do that all over Again Oh my gosh and that was it after working on this project for two days the build was finally complete so here is what it looked like before and this is what it looks like now obviously i’m not the best builder in the world but i’m super proud with how this came out
