Hello everyone my name is pixariffs and like the rest of the world i’ve been having an amazing time playing minecraft dungeons since it released a few days ago i’ve beaten the game on normal difficulty i’m starting adventure difficulty now and i’m finding it super fun exploring the huge variety of weapons Armor and artifacts but during one of my twitch streams i accidentally removed the melee weapon i was using and realized that you can still punch so i started to wonder could the difficulty go the other way how far can our hero get using only his iconic fists can you Still make progress in this game without a sword or a bow put another way can you beat minecraft dungeons without using weapons i gave it a try and to my delight i had stumbled upon a brand new way to play this game let’s start with the tutorial level The first thing i did was unequip my sword and my bow removing the temptation to even use them you can’t salvage them until you get to the camp but i can sure as heck keep them in my inventory while i explore sadly you cannot punch trees but you can punch zombies And considering that your fists only do one point of damage per hit the zombies in the tutorial level are much more of a threat than usual but luckily this area isn’t super crowded with enemies yet and while you end up taking a few hits you’re able to heal up And move on unfortunately the tutorial does force you to use a bow twice since you need to kill two skeletons to lower these two draw bridges one here and one later on each time i equipped the bow i fired one shot and i removed it again sadly you can’t Roll across these gaps no matter how many times i’ve tried but even when the arch illager ambushes you with a couple of vindicators steve’s bare fists are up to the challenge the vindicators score a couple of hits but they get stun locked by the repeated punches the gate lowers without a sword being Swung or an arrow being fired the artifact tutorial does require us to equip the firework arrow you don’t have to use it but i figured i’d fire it where i needed to then just remove the bow again and continued up towards the campsite punching everything as i went and Eventually i reached the end of the tutorial with a tnt block perched atop my head you were too late to rescue the villagers but don’t fret they’re still out there somewhere waiting for a hero to find them for completing the tutorial you’re awarded a fishing rod and access to the camp Which is the hub world for the game the camp gives you your first opportunity to salvage items for emeralds so i went ahead and sold my sword my bow and the firework arrow all i had left was a fishing rod an infinite supply of health potions and my own two fists Only one of which i could actually punch with the game’s first level is always creeper woods and here i thought we should establish some ground rules for this challenge naturally melee weapons and bows are forbidden and should be salvaged for emeralds at the earliest opportunity armor is allowed since that provides the Player with extra health a couple of useful abilities and enchantments which are going to be very useful here also allowed are artifacts which enhance the player’s ability to move evade attacks and punch pets are allowed for reasons which i’ll explain later and magical weapons are forbidden i’m also not using any of the Enchantments that add elemental attacks to the player rolling since those didn’t seem in the spirit of the whole punching thing but i am allowing myself to use consumables like food potions and optionally tnt so with all those rules laid out we step into creeper woods on the lowest Possible difficulty because all i have is a fishing rod also i thought because something i’ve discovered during this challenge is that anytime you don’t have a melee weapon or a bow somewhere in your inventory minecraft dungeons automatically gives you a basic sword and a bow so naturally we’re going to salvage Those for free emeralds our first time through this level is incredibly cautious and makes heavy use of the fishing rod which can be used to stun enemies for a short time while we get in a few crucial punches we also rely on the ability to stun lock basic zombies which i will explain Briefly many of the enemies in this game will recoil on being damaged and their attacks can be interrupted if you do enough damage per hit or damage them fast enough it’s possible to keep them in a state where you can attack them but they can’t attack you this is called stun locking Obviously this is kinda hard with just punches so we’re only really able to do this with basic zombies skeletons and unarmored vindicators this strategy doesn’t work with the more heavily armored enemies because we aren’t hitting them hard enough to interrupt their attacks and creepers are immune because their only Attack is to run at you and explode so the strategy at first is quite tedious anytime we encounter a tougher enemy we have to stun it with the fishing rods get a few swift punches in and back away to a safe distance before we get overwhelmed luckily the terrain means the zombies Don’t swarm us all at once and they move slowly so we can draw them out in a steady line and make our way through them systematically sometimes we can even stun or attack the zombie in front and it’ll slow the others down instead of making them walk around it Which can help us control the pace of combat another option would just be to run through the level but i’m also trying to earn experience and emeralds so we can buy and enchant some armor if we don’t find any here in creeper woods the mobs also have a rare chance to drop Potions and tnt we could use which might save a little time moving forward through the level we have to adjust our strategy a little for the skeletons and there are some sections we just need to run through because it’s harder to deal with large groups of ranged attackers but it’s important To remember the objective is not to defeat every mob on the map it’s to rescue the villagers we’re going to avoid the detour into the underground section of the level for now but we’ll come back and get that when we’re more prepared for now it’s just a matter of dodging skeletons Punching zombies and playing keep away with the vindicators until we can chug another health potion and risk a few more swings at them it takes a while but we get to the set pieces of the level the rest house and the spider cave the spiders won’t actually damage you until you’re pinned down So if you rush them they’re not too hard to deal with and they always come within melee range to attack the spider cave has a chance to spawn some chests and i got my first hunter’s armor here which isn’t super useful right away more importantly this is the first time We encounter the loot chest pig who gave me a better hunter’s armor and a death cap mushroom the death cat mushroom is one of three artifacts you can receive for beating creeper woods so it’s really useful to get it before we finish the level it has a cool down but you move and Attack faster while you’re using it so for now we can use it to speed up our punches and to sprint a little if we need to get out of trouble that’s going to be especially useful for this next area and the hunter’s armor has some healing enchantments that will definitely help Because now we have to free five villagers from capture points around the village they’re guarded by a bunch of vindicators who we can now punch super fast and we heal a little bit every time we stun something with the fishing rod the enchanter illegals will buff the vindicators which is A problem but the player is already slightly faster than the vindicators so we can just give them the run around until they’re too far away from the enchanter and the effects wear off or just avoid attacking them all together aiming to sprint in and free the villagers as our top priority If food drops we can also take advantage of that since for a short time at least you’re going to regenerate health faster than a single vindicator can damage you with all the villagers freed and the vindicators taken care of one of them drops a swiftness potion and i seize the Opportunity to make a frantic dash for the exit and the speed boost sure comes in handy because the next area is full of creepers making it to the exit is a close call but once you reach the doors and mash the a button any of the mobs following you will Despawn as the victory animation plays from the clasp of the images all thanks to you back at the camp we get rewarded with an artifact a tasty bone which summons a pet wolf the other possible rewards are the death cap mushroom which we already have and the boots of swiftness which are Going to be really useful for our early game strategy here once again the game has gotten confused and thinks i want a sword and a bow so we’re just going to salvage those and i should point out that if you want to farm emeralds here you can just load a level Salvage the sword and bow return to camp from the pause menu salvage the sword and bow again and repeat that until you have as many emeralds as you want but since blacksmith loot is tied to your character’s level and we’re scrapping all the weapons he sells me I won’t need many emeralds to get what i need anyway our focus at the blacksmith is armor and which enchantments it provides i’m looking for one in particular which is going to be key to our boss battle strategy eventually he trades me some spelunka armor which has what i’m looking for the Surprise gift enchantment with that equipped i head back to creeper woods to try to get the boots of swiftness once we’ve scrapped the mandatory sword and bow this time through the creeper woods is a much different experience we’ve got a wolf who can help us thin the horde of zombies a death cap Mushroom for some speedy punches and an armor enchantment that generates a helpful item 50 of the time i drink a health potion actually only three of the items it generates are actually helpful there’s potions of swiftness potions of strength which make my punches do two damage instead of just One and a shadow brew that makes you invisible until you attack something at which point you do a bunch of extra damage with your first hit the fourth item it can generate is a bundle of arrows that obviously i’m not using but at this point the bear fist strategy Is actually starting to be really fun there are still some sections of the level it makes more sense to sprint through and now the wolf pet can also act as a distraction for the other mobs i kind of feel bad for the wolf when i take a shadow brew and everything Targets it but it manages to hold its own and my bare fists are now a force to be reckoned with this time i even head down to the underground section to grab the collectible that unlocks the creepy crypt level and we handle everything in there pretty well Sadly even though we beat the level much more easily this time we just unlock the same reward items again so after a while i just start speed running the level avoiding anything i don’t need to attack save the villagers and head back to camp to see if the boots of swiftness are Waiting for me eventually i get the boots but just running through this level not fighting anything much isn’t the challenge i wanted i figured the best test of this bear fist fighting style was to take on a level that has an end boss so i headed out to pumpkin Pastures which ends with a fight with an evoker by this time i’ve got some hunter’s armor with some extra health and an extra level for surprise gift so now it generates potions a hundred percent of the time i fight through the early stages of pumpkin pastures punching the new Geomancers and the zombie chicken jockeys but when the later areas get too hectic i just end up sprinting through them including the mid-stage evoca miniboss that you can fight at one point the area he spawns in is just too tight for the type of strategy we need to use here And the only real objective for this level is to reach the town at the end and fight the main boss at one point the arch illegal blocks your way and makes you fight a bunch of vindicators and enchanters who i just let around at the central statue until i could fight them one-on-one I’m trying to use the wolf as little as possible for this run-through even though he’d do extra damage and draw their aggro he always draws aggro from other mobs in the level and they can sometimes follow the wolf even if they might have lost interest in the player There’s another section where you have to lower a drawbridge where luckily my surprise gift enchantment threw me a shadow brew and i could hit both switches before any of the mobs realized i was there finally we reached the end of the level and by this time i’m being followed by a Small army of mobs which i try to deal with so i can set up for the final boss fight there are several waves to this boss battle including a ton of other illegals that spawn around the evoca and the evoker himself will continuously spawn vexes even after everything else is dealt with So this is going to require a careful strategy once the area is clear i pick a couple of spots and just start chugging health potions so i can generate my surprise gift potions swiftness strength and shadow brew i clean up the arrows each time i get them so they’re not distracting And just wait 30 seconds for the cooldown on the health potion and use it again the potions don’t seem to have a despawn timer so i do this for about 20 minutes until i have a decent stockpile and then trigger the fight Even with those potions the amount of vindicators overwhelms me once or twice and a couple of other mobs end up joining in for good measure but eventually i lead them around and wear them down until only the evoker boss and a geomancer are left along with whatever vexes the evoker has Already spawned in i return to a safe spot away from them both and spawn in a few more potions taking at least two each time before i rush in chomp down a mushroom spam attack and then run out before the vexes can do much damage i decide to let the Geomancer live because his exploding pillars actually do massive damage to the evoker and i can use that to my advantage and little by little i rush in and wear down his health bar until the geomancer ends up delivering the final blow and that’s where i left this little Experiment because gosh it takes a while to play through these levels this carefully i did well against the evoker but could this strategy work against the other bosses can you defeat a redstone golem with your fists alone is it even possible to touch the final boss with your bare hands I still plan to find out because completing pumpkin pastures unlocked the wandering trader and there might still be artifacts i can buy from him which will totally evolve my bear fist fighting style if you guys enjoyed this video leave a like on it for me and let me know in the Comments and maybe we’ll see if it’s really possible to complete minecraft dungeons
