Alright, everyone, Macbigicekeys is here, and we’re diving into Core Keeper. The audio disappeared as soon as I started talking; it was just a pause. I’ll turn up the game sound a bit. So, this is Core Keeper Early Access, Your typical gamer stuff. You watch a game for a while, and you’re like, “Maybe I’ll get it, maybe I won’t.” I don’t know anything about the game; we’re just going to do this as a game discovery stream. Let’s go into settings just to make sure everything’s good. There’s a lot to mess with in the controls; it’s good that they have all the options for key mapping. Hopefully, I can play it with a mouse and keyboard without any issues. Let’s start the game in World slot one. This reminds me of Super Mario Brothers 2. Enter a world, Name it, select a save icon – let’s call it “Scool” with one L for a fair and engaging challenge on standard difficulty. We’ll go with a standard character that respawns after dying. Now, we have some character options – an experienced traveler who always brings a Few torches. Let’s go with that. 360° rotation, and we’ll randomize the appearance. The background changes; it’s kind of like Project Zomboid. We choose Ranger for ranged combat and get started. In a place far away from anywhere else, you are part of a group of explorers making your Way through the forest. Feeling a strange presence, you notice something between the trees. Drawn to it, you approach a strange relic and raise a hand towards it. Upon touching its surface, a blinding light engulfs you. The game fades to black. Now, we find ourselves in a 2D world. WD to move, click to hit stuff. We need to craft a porch soon. We have our map, inventory, and various tabs for gear, skills, cooking, fishing, gardening, and more. The game is reminiscent of Valheim with three equipment setups for quick changes. Crafting is straightforward, and we start building our base. There’s a talent tree for mining, providing options like a chance to gain additional ore or increased visible distance. The clicking sounds are satisfying, and the game seems relaxing. We try out the Xbox controller, and it feels more comfortable for movement. A chest can Be painted and is useful for storing items. Items can be used while crafting if the chest is placed adjacent to the workbench. Crafting features include furnaces and spike traps. In the end, it looks like Core Keeper has potential for a relaxing and enjoyable gaming experience. Sweet! Oh no, you’ve succeeded in our first conquest of the mushroom underworld. I like the water reflections; this is kind of cool, a place to make your base around some water hitting some sand. I would like it if I could click here and it would just draw My character over to it just by clicking, instead of having to move around. Alright, so we need some wood; we’re going to be left in the dark. Is the whole game underground? We have some sparkly stuff over here. Can you hold a torch while you’re… okay. Oh, Come on, Lantern slot! So, we need to craft a lantern, but we don’t know how. Let’s put this right there. What did I do? I don’t know what I did. Okay, that was weird. I don’t know; Let’s put it over right here. I don’t know how much room we’re going to need for all this stuff. Smelting! Alright, we got some Core War. The first thing that we’re going to make is a lantern. Yep, Boom! Oh nice, we don’t have to put fuel in it. Let’s do four and see if we get the recipe for the lantern. We do not. What about if we go over here? Watering can, cooking pot, Salvage and Repair Station, copper workbench. We have seven. What do we do? What should we Do? What’s going to be most helpful early game for a new player? Do we go for the cooking pot or do we go for the copper workbench? My gut is telling me the copper workbench. Alright, we’re going to go with the workbench. Let’s put that – can we put that? I’m doing Something wrong. There we go. What am I doing wrong? If I click on it and then I click out, I can’t place it. That’s what I want to do. I need to have it in my hand like this, Then right-click to place. Okay, wait. Wait, wait, wait. No, I want this. There it is. Small Lantern. H. Fishing rod – that’s really tempting. It’s only five wood. I think we have to try the fishing. Sweet! Oh, we got a bomb. How does that work? This might be my first death coming Up. Right-click. Right-click, oh, and then run away. Sweet. Well, that’s fun. Cave guppy necklace, plus five Dodge chance. Yes, please. Let’s put that on right now. Oh, fishing – the gateway to having all the items. Just like in Minecraft, once you get that fishing Pole, you are set. There’s something people forget about, too – the fiber. Silky smooth material for creating fabric and armor. A rusty spoon – yay! It does probably nothing valuable. An old corroded eating utensil – almost every culture has invented it. What’s the little circle to the right In the description? The little – it’s almost like a circle; it almost meets the other items. Don’t have it on it. Wait, wait, this is – okay, so this one has a fork, meaning it’s food. Not sure what That means; maybe we run into people, and we can sell things. Dirt wall, sand wall – okay, let’s keep going. I should eat something. Are you hungry? Oh, -2 reduced max health from starving, -1 reduced damage from starving, -1.2 movement speed from starving. 24 out of 100. Alright, If I just left-click that – no, right-click. Sweet, duly noted. This is fiber, okay. Is it a little bug? Sorry, little bug. Looks like we have some wood down here. Let’s go for that. You know what I didn’t try was the hoe, and I should Know better. The shovel. Oh, dirt ground. What do I do with that? H. That’s weird; I can’t hoe over the hole that I made. So, I don’t want to ruin my fishing spot, but there’s some light right here, So let’s just practice. Let’s see, it either is or it isn’t. Then I ate all my food. Root seed – once planted, it spreads roots in every direction. Alright, I have some wood, so I want to do control-click and made 30 torches. I like that we get to the edge of the map, And there’s something enticing to the right, over here to the left. Over here, we’re seeing things that are interesting. Right over here, we have some core or some ore. What about if we go up here? Yeah, we have a little bit of light right there too. This seems Closer. Let’s go in all directions. So, back to one. Ah, run away! It’s charging. Scrap parts – different material. Salvage from junk, used to repair items at the Salvage and Repair Station. Okay, glow tulip seed. Ooh, new talent point available in running. So, we can plant the tulip seed. Oh wait, That’s the glow tulip, plus four blue glow for one minute. One food can be cooked – a precious shimmering flower that absorbed ancient energy. This is what we want to plant; we’ll save that for later. Glow tulip seed. Oh, we have a box. Oh, ancient gemstone. Oh wait, shift. Based on the text, the player seemed to enjoy the discovery and experimentation aspects of the game. The player found it nice that torches could be easily accessed by pressing shift, appreciated the aesthetic of hanging items on walls, and observed the game’s auto-replacement feature for tools. The player also expressed interest in various In-game elements like gemstones emitting energy, copper ore, heartberry seeds, and the potential for crafting paintable walls and floors. On the less enjoyable side, the player faced challenges or uncertainties, such as figuring out the purpose of certain items like the strange blue gemstone, Copper ore, and heartberry seeds. Additionally, there was some confusion about the use of ground slime and attempts to grow slime blobs in a slime factory, highlighting a potential learning curve in understanding game mechanics. Overall, the player’s experience seemed positive, with a mix of enjoyment in Discovery and some uncertainties in understanding certain game elements. Oh, there are some bubblies here; I wonder if that means there’s a special fish. Oh, it does mean a special fish. Hey, orange cave guppy! When eaten, it gives plus 10 food and 2.1 Health every second For 20 seconds. Can be cooked. Small orange fish home to the dirt cave lakes. I wonder if I can eat it from here. That would be nice. Oh well, Nom Nom. There might be another sparkly thing here. What’s going on with that? Whoa! The end of Mac number one. I lost my inventory except for what was in my belt. I guess the little red flashing thing was a warning not to continue hitting the Square. Now that the worst is over, I can use it to decorate. I think I will. These things seem to be growing but not yet grown. We’re out of wood; let’s try this glow tulip thing. Okay, these Look like things I have to kill to get slimes. Nice, so you can mine, but you can’t attack when you have a tool out. You also can’t dig. I think if I put enough of those there, slimes will grow, And then I can kill them to get slime balls. That did not work. Heart Berry seed did nothing. Hey, two slimes! That makes three. We should be able to make our hanging lantern now. Sweet! It’s a game-changer. The lantern is really nice to have. It says “Heartberry.” Oh, is X for inventory? Let’s try the controller with right trigger and left, does nothing. Hit and run to dodge, I guess. A lively egg; what might that be? The lantern is really nice to have. It says “Heartberry.” Oh, is X for inventory? Let’s try the controller with right trigger and left; Does nothing. Hit and run to dodge, I guess. A lively egg; what might that be? It didn’t drop slime; it dropped something else, a heartberry seed. A button on the controller gets to the crafting menu. D-pad up gives us infinite wood. We got our first little slime blob, Except it didn’t drop a slime; it dropped something else. A hatchable live egg, a mysterious feathered egg that reacts to your presence. Is there a way to hatch it? It says “hatchable,” so there must be. Let’s try crafting. Oh, there’s a guide on the controls in the bottom right corner. Was that there when using the mouse? Let’s try this. R rotates, right-click to place. There’s a way to hatch it. We have some tin; let’s see if it opens up anything. Tin is slower, and the food can be cooked. One mushroom and one heartberry make a mushy berry pudding. That’s a powerful food. These plants look full-grown. I got the flip seed back, and I can replant it. Sweet, heartberry. I can keep all my different paintbrushes in a chest. The bed can be painted green. I need a green bed; it’s a nice touch. An egg incubator is needed to hatch mysterious eggs; it requires Glass and copper. Crafting stations needed are a glass smelter, copper anvil, a better workbench, tin workbench, and a railway forge for underground rail systems. Progression involves making chests for each workbench and organizing them for efficiency. Quick stack and sorting functions enhance inventory management. The player contemplates building rooms And crafting stations for different purposes. The fishing spot is expanded, and cooking experiments are conducted with various ingredients. A room is planned for the furnace, and the player explores ground manipulation options. The player discovers new items, encounters enemies, and considers Future developments for the base. The player expresses their positive surprise with the game, comparing it favorably to SnowRunner for a relaxing experience with crafting, building, and some problem-solving. They acknowledge the depth of the game, mentioning electric or Redstone-like elements and boss fights. The option for co-op play is highlighted For faster progress. The player plans to create a fort, uncertain about further expansion. They comment on the 2D aspect but find it enjoyable overall.
