Hello everyone my name is pixel riffs and welcome back to the Minecraft Survival Guide I hope you guys are having a good day we’re out here and the elder Guardian is a little bit too close I was a little bit worried when I was starting this intro that he was probably Gonna tag me at some point and he has but that’s fine I’ve got an empty bucket here so we’re out here at our little island where I brought the elder Guardian out from the ocean temple in the last episode and I brought the the cow in the boat back over here I said Bucket in that episode even though I met in boat we’ve got a cow in a boat here and I am gonna keep him around mainly because I will probably need milk if I’m gonna hang around here for any length of time today we’re gonna take a look at Another vital component of the how did we get here advancement and that is having a dolphin around because one of the effects we will need is dolphins grace and luckily there are a few dolphins around here dolphins grace is the effect that when you’re swimming in water makes you do This and I will just preface this by saying that the reason I’m moving quite as fast as I am is because my boots also have the depth Strider 3 enchantment if I take those off and I get dolphins grace I am sprinting right now but as You can see I’m moving at a much more leisurely casual pace I’m moving a little bit faster than I normally would in water and the dolphin is actually swimming alongside me as soon as I put this set of boots on we are off to the Races and you can swim very very fast I don’t think the Dolphins even going to be able to keep up with me at that kind of pace but dolphins are kind of an overlooked mob in fact we’ve overlooked them a little bit ourselves earlier in this guide I did touch on them very Briefly in a previous episode hello mister drowned I can see you coming up from the ocean ruins there but there are some interesting aspects to dolphins which considering we kind of need to capture one for the how did we get here advancement I thought it would be worth Exploring in an episode of their own especially considering I don’t really want to start any major big project until after we’ve got the world tour and how did we get here and then episode 202 out of the way as well so I thought a little light episode today for episode 199 we’re gonna take a look at dolphins and we’re going to bring one over to this area where we’re hopefully going to capture it permanently and keep it around for when we do that how do we get here advancement in a couple of episodes time I Make a little glass box here probably a 3×3 space that were eventually going to trap a dolphin in probably temporarily as far as the advancement itself goes but I figure you might want to bring a dolphin to your aquarium or something like that in future you might want to Bring it all fin to an area where you can keep it long-term and for that you’ll need a couple of things you will need a nametag you will need a lead you will need a few items like that but first before we end up putting the dolphin in a kind of temporary captivity We do want to explore some of the aspects that the dolphin can help you in terms of treasure hunting and yes thank you again for the mining fatigue this this cow is gonna get milked so much today but yes you heard me correctly dolphins can help you hunt for sunken Treasure and while some of the shipwrecks and stuff in the world might be quite visible to you from the surface it’s also fun to use dolphins to help you find some others and first of course we will need some food for the dolphins for that we all need some raw Cod so We’re just gonna be doing some sword based fishing for now and swiping at the first Cod I see there we go should be able to grab that and then let’s find that dolphin wherever it swam off to as you’re swimming around you’ll probably spot dolphins hanging around somewhere Below the surface but they will dive a lot and they will also leap out of the water a lot so occasionally you’ll see them playing on the surface of the water as well which can make them quite easy to spot compared to squid and some of The other fish once you’ve got some fish in your hand I don’t believe dolphins will really come up to you as such but if you can swim down to meet one and then give it a fish you’ll notice some green particles appear and then the dolphin starts to take on a different Purpose it starts to get a little bit almost single-minded in its search for treasure and this is the point at which I might actually take off my depth Strider boots just so I don’t lose the dolphin in its search because these dolphins can actually swim pretty fast But they’re still not gonna be able to keep up with me and it turns out that was not the best example because the dolphin kind of wandered over here and it turns out that there is a shipwreck down here I’m gonna could surface quickly so that we can dive down and see If I’ve collected anything from the shipwreck before but giving the dolphin a fish will encourage it to lead you to the nearest source of sunken treasure and I’m really sure that’s mostly shipwrecks they may even take you to sunken ruins as well although that is where you’re Going to encounter some of the Drowned so be careful if you’re exploring the ocean like that we got some suspicious stew in here the stuff from shipwrecks is actually going to be a little bit randomized so that’s very suspicious in fact we might not want to end up eating That if we don’t want to get potentially poisoned by some of the suspicious stew here but of course we will get ourselves a buried treasure map from there and that will lead us towards some treasure like a heart of the sea buried offshore somewhere and this could well be one I’ve discovered before Bert I might as well go looking for it anyway yeah that’s led us straight back to the little Lagoon here where I have definitely dug up a treasure chest in the past oh well that’s unfortunately a map that we are going to have to discard but you Get the idea dolphins will lead you to a treasure if you give them some fish let’s try and find another dolphin out here and attempt that a second time because the search for a shipwreck can go on for a little while and it’s always kind of fun swimming around after a Dolphin here we go found a little pod of dolphins swimming around here in the ocean let’s see if we can get up close to this one and encourage it to take us to some treasure there we go green particles and we are away let me take The boots off real fast and follow this one and this one should hopefully take us in the direction of a nearby shipwreck looks like it’s found one right over there so yes you can see it doesn’t lead you particularly far but the Dolphins will take you to if not the Nearest shipwreck then at least a shipwreck that is kind of close by I think it’s kind of like the maps where they won’t always take you to the most logical find but they will definitely help you find stuff a couple more suspicious stews bit of coal poisonous potatoes and bamboo bamboo is actually Loot that you can find in shipwrecks now which can be pretty useful if you haven’t found yourself a jungle yet let’s swim back into this back area and see if we get another buried treasure map yes we do does that lead us somewhere different this time note that Looks like exactly the same map and I have removed the chest from that area as well so it isn’t just trying to find the chest again unfortunately that is just leading you to exactly the same spots so looks like we’ll need to go a little further afield if we want some more Hearts of the sea but for now you can see quite how useful dolphins can be when locating landmarks like this but enough messing around with buried treasure you guys are here to find out how to trap a dolphin so that we can use it for this advancement that we got coming up and It’s a relatively simple process you’re gonna need a lead for it because thankfully dolphins can be attached to leads and you can kind of bring them with you wherever you like I’ve also got a couple of name tags because I’m not certain about this but I have a feeling Dolphins might despawn if they aren’t name tags they’re kind of part of the aquatic mobcap anyway so it might also be useful to remove them from the mobcap if you’re going to keep them around permanently but I’m pretty sure dolphins have a chance to de-spawn and yep of Course we’ve got mining fatigue again luckily we won’t need it because over here once we get in touch with this dolphin and get a little bit of dolphins grease we can attach it to a lead and if we swim backwards you can see that the dolphin is now happily following us over Here to this little glass area that I have set up and hopefully we should be able to bring it in here give or take Oh oh no it’s gotten them to land that is the problem with dolphins they will jump up and down quite frequently and I Wonder if it’s gonna be a little bit nervous about the elder Guardian being around I’m pretty sure that Guardians don’t really attack anything other than squid though so I think this dolphin is just being super playful right now I think what I’m gonna do is reinforce the Wall here a little bit mostly to stop this guy from shooting me while I’m trying to get the dolphin in here because I’m losing a lot of health thanks to you not wearing my chest plate around the elder Guardian here so hopefully we should be able to barricade Him off against I could probably surround the elder Guardian in glass actually that might be a bit better of an idea but either way we can hopefully get the dolphin inside of this little box and the most important thing about keeping a dolphin trapped in a box like This is that they will need both water and air to be present so you can’t trap them in a box full of water because they they return to the surface not just so that they can leap and play but so they can breathe as well and a dolphin will Suffocate either if you leave it completely in water or if you leave it completely in air they kind of need a bit of both so I’m gonna post up in here try and it drag the dolphin in here using the lead they will move around Quite a lot so we’ll probably have to be a little bit quick with placing the blocks here but they can leap up and over stuff as well so yeah you might find them leaping around quite a lot if you’re trying to get them into an area that They can’t naturally path fine – and of course this is going to be a bit more of a challenge because you can’t nudge them the way you can with normal land mobster he are kind of a little bit too agile for the player to keep up with but with Any luck you should be able to do it quite easily after a little bit of practice and there we go we’ve got the dolphin in there I need to add a little bit more sand around the outside but it looks like the dolphin is gonna stay in Here for now we’ll hop down in here and it will nametag it let’s take the lead off for the moment and it looks like this dolphin is just going to be a little bit more passive let’s name you flipper and then let’s grab some blocks That we can use to close off the top of this it’s got some water it’s got some air and if we sprint in the water around it we automatically get that dolphins grace effect which is going to be exactly what we want for the how did we Get here challenge where we have to have all the status effects at once and with a bit of clay salvaged from nearby we have ourselves a dolphin in a tank not bad not bad at all and there are some very clever designs out there that will Actually use a set of dolphins set up in small tanks where they can have a little bit of air a little bit of water and you can use dolphins as a kind of super-powered superhighway when swimming in water just by setting up little stations of dolphins in a straight line In the ocean because all you really need to do is get near a dolphin and sprint and with debt destroyer 3 you can move at incredibly fast speeds that’s just been me traveling I don’t know how many blocks probably about a hundred blocks or so it’s it’s still quite the distance Maybe it may be more like 80 or so in a very short amount of time and so if you want to cross the oceans and you’re looking for a method that’s faster than boats and you don’t want to use nether portals and stuff like that dolphins could be an interesting addition to that To my knowledge it is not possible to breed dolphins in the current version of Minecraft you cannot feed two of them food and get them to make a baby there are no baby dolphins in the game so you are gonna have to rely on them spawning naturally if you want to find them However it is quite straightforward to find them as long as the aquatic mobcap in the area isn’t already saturated by fish turtles and squid and other forms are like that and you should find dolphins are relatively easy to manage if you’ve got a few nametags all you Need to do is name tag them guide them into an area like we’ve done today and then set them up in a in a nice straight line that you could just swim from area to area picking up the Dolphins grace effect as you go dolphins grace does Have a fairly wide radius as well like I’m sprinting now it’s probably about five or six blocks maybe up to eight blocks out from the area where the dolphin is held and it activates pretty quickly once you are sprinting so it should be nice and straightforward to do If you want to set something like that up one of the last things I’m gonna do in this video is bring the shelcha over using a boat because I kind of want the shell kurz to be around that island already to give us the levitation effect But before I do that I am going to brew up a couple of splash potions of healing and we’re going to splash a couple of them onto the elder guardian because in yesterday’s episode it did take quite a lot of damage and I don’t really want The elder Guardian to come to any harm especially if we bring the Shockers around we start trying to avoid shelcha bullets and one of them maybe hits the elder guardian and deals a little bit of damage and that could be the amount of damage that takes it over the edge and Kills it I really don’t want that to happen so let’s sleep for now suddenly we don’t have to worry about any other mobs let’s go over there and splash it with a potion of healing just in case the worst happens so I really can’t believe I’m doing this but here we go One splash potion of healing two splash potions of healing hopefully that Guardian should be back up to something approximating full health right now so that’s probably the weirdest thing I’ve done in this entire series but that should be fine for now let’s grab some boats and let’s wheel these shelters Over to their new home okey doke let’s start with this one over here if we can pop a boat down there perfect that one is now in the boat let’s see if we can get that guy there as well once they’ve stopped firing bullets at me that’s a Lie they’re never gonna stop firing bullets at me at this rate okay let’s take this out let’s take out that block so it teleports right now it’s stuck on the underside of the tree it’s really weird seeing what they do when they’re in the overworld actually this one here Should be relatively straightforward to capture yep got that one nice and easily of course we do need to get it out of the water here but that’s not going to be a big problem and last of all you this one’s clearly gonna be the troll maker I can tell one thing To note is that while they’re on the water in these votes these shelters will be able to fire bullets at you so you might want to keep that in mind there we go one more teleport for you where have you got to now let’s see a ha that’s a Much easier spot to get it from the boat in fact I think I have only brought two boats that’s not the best start is it what I was going to say was I think this one might be the easiest one to take over to visit our elder Guardian because It’s the closest to the area and the closest to this nice open body of water and once it’s in the boat here once we are passing during weather it should not really be able to cause us too much harm as you can see the dolphin tank is over There in the distance and we should be able to bring this guy on to shore once we’re over here if we break the boat he should teleport to an area once again that’s a valid block for him to sit on within an eight block distance in each Direction so a 17 by 17 area and that should mean he pretty probably wants to pick somewhere on this island yep the bullets are following me a little bit here as are the lasers so I probably need to pick my spot here kind of carefully in fact he seems pretty happy Where he is right now and I don’t want to take him out of the boat right away just in case anything weird happens and we’re gonna set up the whole contraption for getting all of the effects of how do we get here in a future episode so I Think we’ll probably call it there but is this not the weirdest collection of mobs you’ve ever seen a shelter and elder Guardian and a dolphin all just hanging out together next to this little island complete with a cow and turtle in a boat it’s a very very strange Menagerie of characters that we have over here but really that is gonna be it for this episode of the Minecraft Survival Guide folks I hope you enjoyed and don’t forget the next episode is going to be our episode 200 world tour really excited about that one episode 201 is going to be how did we get here and you can still leave questions for episode 202 on the comments of the community post that I posted on my YouTube page a little while
