Hi I’m George and in this video we’ll be making a redstone lamp with an on/off switch you can see that right behind me there this is a continuation of the last video I did where we made a glowstone lamp with an armor stand base for it Let’s take a look at these two lumps a little bit more closest against what I’m talking about there are the lamp on the left side that is the glowstone mint that we made in the last video and the lip on the right is a redstone lamp and the main difference there’s a redstone Lamp you can have an on/off switch there it is and if you liked this video make sure you hit that like button don’t forget to click on share and also subscribe when you subscribe click on that bill icon as well so you get notifications of my new videos ok let’s Get to it making a redstone lamp with an on/off switch is real easy to do all you need to have is a glow stone and I showed you how to make one of those in the last video and we need to have some redstone dust and I showed you where to Find that in the last video as well if you want to look like this you need to have an armor stand and then the whole setup as we had in the last video to place that on to the armor stand I’m not going to be repeating any of that we Already covered that previously but I’ll put a link for the previous video in the cards and also in the description and you can review that if you like let’s see what we need to actually build this let’s just swing around over here over to the crafting table right there Open this up now for the redstone lamp that’s a cinch just to take your glowstone put it in the middle and then take some redstone dust and put four of those right around your glowstone and there you go there’s your redstone lamp it’s that easy to make one of these Things we also need a lever and as a cinch as well just put a cobblestone right down here I’m just gonna put down just one and then put one stick on top and there’s your lever okay let’s now see how this works risk over here someplace And I’m going to put down just a couple of cobblestones three couple stones put one on top right here and then all to stick a wrist only I brought in the face of that there we are now you need to have a lever to power this put deliver On the right hand side of the lamp like that can right click and that turns it on and off kind of ugly right there but you can also put this just in behind me just get that off of there there we go if you put it right here This also works because it’s right next to it’s on the block that’s right next to the lamp so that’s why that one is working for us because it’s right next to the lamp and that’s actually what I have set up right back here it’s just Right next to the lamp it’s off by one but it still works because it’s basically touching so we can do that over here the same basic idea I’m just going to take this one off get that out of there there we go and it’s put down a cobblestone right here and then we’ll Put our liver right on the face of that and same thing that lights up that redstone so it’s that easy to do you can get a bit fancier though if you want to just take this off I’ll take this thing off of here pianist put this up just a Little bit higher I’ll go like that and like that there we are let’s take that off and we’ll put that up a lot higher right there so I moved it up a distance as you can see and it’s out of ways and let’s put the lever way down here they Can connect the lever you want to up with that I’m actually going to change the block in behind here you put some things that’s easier to see I’ll put this smooth quartz right there instead it doesn’t matter what you’re using this will just show the lever better there it Is easy to see the lever right now and we can make this actually light that up but you have to connect the lamp to the lever with redstone dust it’s also pretty easy to do you know for this I had to get up top there so let’s just put in a couple of Blocks here there we are and one there that’ll do it for us okay I’ll put a redstone dust right on the top of the block with a lever on it and then it’s put one right here put it on top of this block and then it connects It down the side there and put it on top of this block and that connects right down the side as well you don’t have to put any on top of here but you can’t if you want you can go ahead and do that if you want to but it’s not actually necessary as Long as this on the block right behind this will work out just fine now when I click that right click it lights up that redstone dust it’s called a restaurant wire and that connects the switch all the way up here up to the lamp so that Allows you to put your switch a little further away get a better view on this there we go and kind of see that so there it is there is the lamp lighting up just by clicking on that switch so as you can see it’s actually very easy to Set up one of these redstone lamps there’s all kind of different ways of connecting this together you just have to be able to connect your switch your lever over to your redstone lamp now I like this basic set up over here where I just have the switch right by the lamp It’s easy to set up it looks good it makes sense like that so it’s a real nice easy solution but let’s say you want to do something a bit trickier I’m not going to go through the whole process of laying this down but I’m going to explain it to you and we’ll see How I can just mince and kind of a real tricky fancy way over here I have a lever right there that’s my switch and then up here I have a redstone lamp this hourglass all around here redstone lamp and I’m using that redstone lamp as an Entry lamp right there kind of a porch light from a main door it’s kind of up all by itself and it’s hard to see exactly where the redstone dust is hiding and that’s the biggest problem actually with doing these redstone circuits and that’s the way that redstone dust behaves when it’s sitting On a block make sure you the problem over here it’s pretty easy to see right there just kind of sitting there and bubbling away let’s say you wanted to hide this you would think you just put a block on top you’ll be hidden between the blocks but You can’t do that I’ll put a block right here and this other block it goes way up there that’s the problem there’s actually kind of an invisible block in here above the redstone wire so you can’t put anything right on top of this to hide that so you have to hide it in Some other way again this is a big problem and means that your redstone circles have to be larger than you would think that they would have to be because it’s not easy to hide this stuff me show you how I solve that problem over here you know first Just that we’ll check this click on that and that’s lit click it again and it’s now turned off you know way this is done is I had to put the circuit outside and I had to make my wall thicker the while used to end right here And I have my door right down here since the redstone dust has to be sitting on top of blocks and put those blocks in this second row here so that first road is just my regular wall and then the second row actually is the staircase effect for the redstone dust to see how That works the third wall just hides it so here are in the backyard and if we go over here there’s the redstone dust so there’s my front wall right there and then this is connecting to the block right here that’s the block that has the switch on it so the redstone dust is Touching the block with a switch on it and then goes out here and put it on top of this block on top of this block then this connected automatically on top of that block and that connected automatically on top of the next block and that connected and then there’s Another hole up here and it goes into the building right there at the top I can actually walk you up there gonna see that there you go it just goes right inside the building right there so it’s hidden on the inside you can see it on The outside if I wanted to cover this up I’d have to take some moving material in here and you know build a wall extension like this and just hide that inside of a wall and it works fine only real problem is of course is that the wall is now Three blocks thick instead of just one block that’s you have to take into consideration design wise and to stylistically when you’re doing these things you have to be able to account for or hide the extra thickness of that wall here’s our hiding line of bricks this is the one that has a redstone Sitting on it and this is the one that’s visible on the inside let’s now see where that redstone dust goes to and I’ll go upstairs here and my parents came so they’re staying put right now so there it is there’s the redstone dust coming inside and I take It over here and they take it over here and the block just under there under that block that’s the redstone lamp is right underneath there so it’s touching the red stone lamp block right there and that’s why the circuit works same problem here I don’t want to see this I Can’t hide this by putting anything on top it’s going to float above it like that which is not what you want so you have to hide it behind something and in here I’ve already just build another wall you know just right along like that out here and maybe out there and it’s Too clear to the ceiling and that would then hide that or even could just continue it right here I can’t put it down there because that’s where the restaurant dust is but I can put it like this and do it that way just fill a Space in this and now I can have that hidden this way put some bookshelves in here maybe put some plants across the top you know a decorative element and that then hides that redstone dust and I now have my hidden circuit but it does mean that I have to have a fairly thick Something in here just to disguise or hide that okay let’s go back downstairs and see the whole thing works so you’re right click down and that turns it on it is in the alit position right click up and then it turns off exactly the same things happening over here with this It’s just hidden inside that wall there you go that’s how you can make these redstone lamps and again there are a lot of fun they look really nice on a wall like that little stand but it’s even more interesting if you can put it into the architecture the only problem is to Connect these switch which is a lever with the redstone lamp and that means redstone dust to make a redstone wire and that has to get hidden inside of a wall or under the floor or something like that right there you go that is how to make a working redstone lamp with a light Switch don’t forget if you liked the video make sure you hit that like button
