Hello everyone this is dial 20 and welcome to a new mod spotlight taking a look today at RF tools dimensions so we just covered a five-part spotlight showing you all the features of our of tools and it would have been another part add dimensions not separated out Into its own mod so I guess our tools got so big that McGee the mod author said hey let’s make RF tools its own mod so that’s what it is so our tools dimensions is its own separate mod you’re probably going to want to have RF tools installed along with it or some Other similar type mods because there’s a few things that you’re going to want to have but this mod is all about creating your own custom dimensions you can make dimensions that have all kinds of different shapes sizes colors blocks materials time zones like all kinds of crazy stuff you can make dimensions that Pretty much are fully customizable and that’s what we’re going to look at today so without further ado let’s get started taking a look at how to make your own custom dimensions so in order to get started you’re going to need a dimension and scriber and a dimension builder These two blocks not terribly hard to make or what you’re going to use to get started with your dimensional explorations so let’s place them down and see what they’re about the dimension and scriber does not need power and it’s going to use dim lights to create what’s called a Dimension tab so dimension tabs are pretty much what stores everything that you want to know about a dimension what type of world it is what kind of stuff is in there what kind of creatures you might find what time of day it is so you can make eternal day worlds that would Be described on the realized dimension tab an empty realized dimension tab which we just created is going to go ahead and randomly assign all the traits so we have no idea what this dimension is going to look like it could be made out of diamond blocks or it could be Made of dirt it could be a turtle day or a turtle night or just have a normal day night cycle so there’s literally thousands of combinations and this realized dimension tab is going to be completely randomized now if you were to hold shift and right click it’ll tell You all the dim-lit tablets that you put inside of it now we didn’t put any dimwits in there and we’ll talk about all the different types of demos in a minute the other thing we’re going to need to get started visiting our very first dimension is this guy the Dimension builder now dimensions require power and there’s three types of power that goes on their creation cost maintenance cost and tip cost so if you flip through the RF tools dimensions manual you’ll find out that the creation cost represents how much power is needed to initially create the dimension that’s The first time it’s created and the tick cost is a modifier of how many ticks that dim-lit will add to the creation of the dimension so basically when we add dim loads to this thing the tick cost might go up meaning it will take longer to add power and then finally we’ve got The maintenance cost once dimension is up and running that’s how much power it will use to keep the dimension going so all we got to do is pop our realize dimension tab in here and you’ll notice it’s starting to get a whole bunch of power dimension progress boom dimension Is ready and it just rained a whole lot of power that’s because each dimension tab can store up to 40 million RF so keep that in mind it’ll dump all the internal buffer directly into the realized dimension tab and then start filling it up and we’ll see the Maintenance cost 20 RF a tick specified 10 RF a tick so what is the difference there specified RF 4 tech means I told it these are the dimwits that I want to make up my dimension this is what my dimensions should be made out of and as A result the cost is 10 RF a tick however random attributes are assigned to a dimension if you don’t specify them as a result they also cost RF a tick but it’s only about 10% which means that something that would normally cost a hundred RF a tick got added to my Dimension randomly and it’s adding 10 RF a tick 10% of that hundred to the dimension costs cool so the dimension is built we’re ready to visit it I didn’t give it a name I could have named it down here on the bottom left but I didn’t so there’s a Blank name associated with it and it’s ready to roll cool so let’s go visit it shall we how do we get there luckily we already know all about RF tools and matter transmitters cool so we’ve got a matter transmitter and we’ve got a dialing device let’s set one up so I’m Going to go ahead and rename this dimension to first dim not a problem and now it’s got a name first dimension alright to get there is pretty straightforward when a dimension is created it’s going to automatically create a matter receiver so since we’ve got RF tools ready to go We’re pretty good to go nice that’s cool so we can see dimension ID – it’s ready to roll and I’m ready to help what there there’s only one thing we’re going to want to make sure we do make sure we have a way to get back home so before we teleport over that Dimension we’re probably going to want to make sure that we don’t get stuck over there so let’s get them out of receiver and get a dimensional transmitter thingy so we can teleport our way back so advanced charged harder well click that dude and we’ll make sure That you’ve got all the power you need to get us home so now let’s tell put over and see what this totally randomized dimension looks like no idea what’s going to be could be a void world could be just a normal deranged end so we’ve got some pigs let’s see we’re Hanging out currently in a forest biome it’s definitely a weird looking dimension um looks like some kind of sky islands so that’s kind of neat actually cool right very nice dimension looks pretty nice so this is our very first dimension awesome but it’s totally randomized and honestly I’d like to be Able to create some custom stuff enter dimwits there’s a couple places that you can find dimwits and this nifty little house here is one of the places that you can find them if we pop open the door and go inside we’ll see that inside this chest there are dim lit parcels some Basic dim lit components and then on the wall here you might find yourself some actual dim lights nice what are these things and how do we use them so first off the dim lit parcel is nice when you right-click it you have a chance of getting some dim lit components added to Your inventory or dim lights themselves okay dim let’s pretty much specify all the attributes and variables that could be applied to a dimension so for example the dim lights that I just received dim lit warm cool a biome controller affect how biomes are used in the cement in Neat I also got netherrack and granite cool these are material limits they affect how the material in the dimension that you’re creating are made so if we go into dim let’s encoding the world we’ll see a lot of different types of dim lights that are available definitely worth looking into it So there’s terrain dimwits they’re used to define what the world looks like so in a normal world of flat world sky lands I come in now we’ve also got digit dim lights which we’ll talk about in a little bit by own dim let’s control the biomes that can appear in the dimension If you only specify one biome dim lit you’re only going to have one biome in the entire dimension and the biome controller determines how many and how in which type of biomes are selected so for example um you could have checkerboard biomes and other types of biomes at a pretty neat material dim Lights are what we just saw so for example we can make a world out of netherrack and we probably could because we just got the netherrack material dim lit okay liquid dim lights are like material dim lights except they specify liquids feature dim lights control what Features appear in a world so you could have floating oars and we could have all kinds of different neat things tendrils flowing through the land there’s a bunch of different feature dim lights that we’ll take a look at and then there’s structured inlets so we can add strongholds villages in mine shafts for Example mob them let’s let you specify which mobs should spawn in your world sky dim let’s allow you to change colors sizes or even existence of very objects in the sky so you can add moons and rainbows and all kinds of crazy stuff with your sky limits and you can also Control the color of the sky time dim let’s let you specify how time flows so you can always make it daytime or noon you can make it go faster or slower whether dim let’s let you specify what type of weather’s allowed in there effect inlets can add positive or Negative effects through the dimension and then special dim lights which are pretty rare there’s five of them peaceful dim lit pretty much makes the dimension peaceful it’s expensive and will never be randomly generated in the dimension you create the efficiency dim lit reduces the cost of energy per tick The mediocre efficiency dim lit is just a weaker version of that last one sheltered Inlet then look for dimensions which may be excessively Hospital this one creates a safer spot for teleporting in and then I see dim lit very specialized image to control the seed of the random world gem so we won’t Probably get into those too later on but those are the basic types of dim let’s see find so let’s go explore this world briefly Wow it’s definitely a sky islands and it’s a very small one too so I just found another one of those nifty little houses And inside I found something cool sky dim lit body small moon so we just figured out how to add small moons to the sky of our dimensions there’s an effect big slowdown three neat and then here is looks like a material one crag rock cool and inside the chest we’ve got More dim lit objects and we’ve got this little guy cyan wool I can make a dimension out of cyan wool how cool would that be alright let’s teleport home to our actual home whoosh and we’re back now there’s something really important that you need to know about dimensions each Dimension is customized based on the dim lights that you place inside the dimensional inscriber when you make it which means that if you make two-dimensional tabs with the exact same dim lights you will go to the exact same dimension not two different dimensions that look the same but the exact same Destination meaning if you build a house in a dimension and then you make another dimension tab with the same demotes on it it will be the same dimension in that house will still exist and I can demonstrate that by getting another dimension tab so let’s get a few of These because we’re going to definitely want them and if I were to go ahead and you know do whatever we want with this and hit store what it’s going to do is retarget dimension ID – and look it’s already got power so how can we make another dimension with the same dim Lights that actually points to a different dimension that is the thing that I glossed over a minute ago and we’re going to need numeric dim lights okay numeric dim lights which are right around here digit dim let’s how you can start with digit zero and then just Craft it zero to get one these are basically things that don’t add anything to the dimension aside from it’s just a unique identifier to say this is a different dimension so when I add digit zero in there it’s going to say alright this is a different dimension because You’ve got digit zero in it doesn’t change anything else about the dimension it doesn’t even add any cost as you can see so that now when I go in here and we can name this condemned okay and hit store what we’ve got in there is a new dimension cool It’s named second dim and this is going to be again completely randomized because I didn’t specify any information creation cost is going right now a thousand RF protect boom we just created the dimension now we’re ready to probably visit it all right so let’s go visit that dimension but first I’m going To store some of my dimension tabs cool so all we’ve got to do is go over to this guy and dial up my second dimension which is ID number three and this is again a totally randomized because I didn’t specify any dim lights so I have No idea what this dimension is going to look like we’re going to go find out this is a weird dimension so it looks like these are actually bluish clouds ah which is cool and I’m also at Y level 136 at the moment right yeah so I’m like You know pretty high of Y level I must be like on the roof of some dimension wonder if this is a dimension like the nether and I spawned on the roof let’s go see if we can figure it out beats me I just dug down a bunch there Might be some kind of cave system underneath this area but I’m too terrified so let’s get out of here so the next block I want to talk to you guys about is the dim lit workbench this guy again requires a little bit of power what you’ll find in the dim lit Workbench are all the different types of dim lights available to you there’s a lot so at the top here we’ll see a bunch of biome typed inlets and we can see the many many types of biomes underneath here we’re seeing liquid type so you can see all the different types of liquids That can be added in there and obviously liquids added by mods are options for you cool those different rarities as well which we’ll talk about rarity in just a minute okay then there’s the material dim lifts so we can have magical wood planks make up your biomes or netherrack or obsidian or resonating Or like all kinds of cool stuff that can go in there right beyond material we’ve got the mob types we’ve then moved into the types of different skies that you can add rights to different colored skies and different objects in the sky pretty cool structure types terrain Types there’s a lot of different terrain types which is pretty neat I don’t even know what half of these are but school we should check out some of them features that you can add like lakes and mazes and caves and canyons and all that neat stuff pyramids tendrils volcanoes That sounds cool I want to see what volcanoes like um you can have a different types of time so it can always be nighttime always be daytime then you’ve got your digits different effects that you can have on there and then specials and finally got your biome Controllers cool and then whether at the bottom very cool so how does this work well it’s pretty straightforward let’s say that we wanted to make a dim lit that controls I know the dimension let’s make it a single biome okay I’m currently not craftable the reason for That is each dim lit is made up of component parts and you can see those component parts on the bottom left or when you mouse over the dimension type and it tells you exactly what type of component parts you need in jei here we can see a lot of those component parts And they’re broken down there’s usually like five types okay so first off you’ve got your dim lit control circuit and each of these control the rarity okay um so you can see those different rarities now these are not craftable directly okay then you’ve got um your dim lit Base part okay this is a basic part of the dim lit easy to get from there you need the power type and there’s three of those basic energy module regular energy module and advanced energy module and the more rare or special the dim lit is determines which type of these three it Is so there’s looks like seven control circuit types and three energy types from there you’ve got your memory units basic regular in advanced again cool and then finally there’s the type modifier this tells you what type of odd dim-lit you’re going to be making so there’s the Biome type the liquid type the terrain type the structure type so basically the first one is your base part everybody needs a base part it’s the same for everybody the second one is the complexity it tells you how rare it is right diamond blocks are probably high complexity where dirt is probably low Complexity right and if we take a look at that we’ll see that block of diamond rarity five makes sense right and then the energy module typically relates to the rarity and also affects how much energy it costs right so block of diamond have that three lightning bolt energy module it’s the advanced Energy module where as dirt for example just regular old dirt anybody the wheel regular dirt yeah there it is right rarity zero one lightning bolt right and the same for the basic memory unit there it’s pretty easy block a diamond probably the higher tier one might even If it was diamond material or block a diamond right so that’s what we’re looking at and then you’ve got your type so because this is a material it’s the material type because this is a mob it’s the mob type okay so those things come together to designate what type of Dim-lit you’re going to be making and then the final piece is the thing that actually specifies exactly what it’s going to be so for example if we wanted to do dirt okay you would need to have a dirt modifier to say alright this is a dim-lit it’s Rarity zero its power one it’s memory one and the type is material type we have to specify dirt somehow and that’s the last option to get these bad boys we can take existing material limits so for example Imperial dim-lit for netherrack we can throw it in here and we can hit Deconstruct or extract boom it goes ahead at things for a little bit use a bit of power and we get those base components so we got a base part we got the basic memory unit and we got the basic energy unit out of there right but Hey I thought these were made up of five different things well unfortunately the dim-lit workbench occasionally can lose some of the pieces so we lost out right we didn’t have exactly what we needed now we can store these in their inventory and use them later but what You can also do with the dim-lit workbench is infuse it so let’s talk about infusing in your exploitive adventures in two dimensions you will probably find dimensional shards but can be used for a whole bunch of cool stuff one of those is infusing machines both from RF tools and RF Tools dimensions so We can put our dim-lit workbench in this machine and start infusing it with dimensional shards now these can also be found the nether and the end it’s just an ore so dimensional shard it looks like this and then you just mine it and it pops out like lapis for example cool so you Get yourself a bunch of dimensional shards a stack infused at 25% so we’re going to in stat and fuse it all the way up to 100 in fusing machines gives them extra bonuses you can see on the dim lit workbench infusing bonus increase the chance of getting all parts out of a Deconstructed dim lit highly recommend that the first thing you do if you’re going to be building custom dimensions is get yourself a bunch of dimensional shards and infuse them into the dim lit workbench so that when you start breaking down the dim lights that you find you will get all of the components That you need and four stacks of dimensional shards later we’ve got ourself a 100% infused dim lit workbench nice now when we take our dim lit workbench over here and we choose to decompose a dim lit for example the material crag Rock extract it thinks for a second and It extracted all five components awesome so that was crag rock it was a material type it was a regular memory unit so it was middle-of-the-road in terms of complexity and energy use and it was a dim lit control circuit Verity – nice so we’ve got a bunch of other components in Here now we can just kind of toss into the machine we can go ahead and extract a few more these things and get ourselves a bunch of digit or dim lit control module types neat right it should be also noted that you can get these dim lit things from Enderman so Killing Enderman will also drop them so if you setup an Enderman farm you should be in pretty good shape to get a lot of this stuff so you’re probably wondering I’ve got five out of the six components I need to build something let’s make a Plains biome how would I go about making A Plains biome well first off I need one of those dim lit base parts check I need a demo control circuit priority one check I need a basic energy module check I need the basic memory unit check and then I need something that specifies um that It’s a biome okay I can probably handle that there’s only one thing that I don’t have and that’s this little weird block what’s that all about that’s how we specify planes remember so if I wanted to make this I’ve got the five components I just need to say hey I Want this to be a Plains biome as opposed to a forest biome as opposed to a tundra biome and for that we’re going to need absorbers and there are six types of absorbers one of them is material which allows you to absorb the type of material sitting on top of so Dirt cobblestone etc the other one is liquid another one is biome terrain feature and time cool so let’s do biome for example all we got to do is pop it into the world and I believe it just sits there and you’ll notice that it’s absorbing the features of this biome so Just letting this biome absorber block sit in a Plains biome it’s going to categorize itself as a Plains biome and it’s going to absorb it cool now if we wanted a material absorber so for example cobblestone it’s going to absorb cobblestone that’s how we would specify a dimension made out of cobblestone for Example pretty neat right now the material absorber will in fact use up the materials that you give it it’s going to eat it up cool so go ahead and let it keep beating and eventually it’ll fill up notice also it doesn’t only absorb the block underneath it so it’ll Branch out a little bit the time absorber is also a little bit different you just need to give it a redstone signal at the right time of day so for example if you want it to be like a noon based time absorber just go ahead and Give it a redstone signal and you’ll be good to go so it looks like our planes biome absorber has finished absorbing the planes biome essence nice I can now break it bring it over to my dim-lit workbench place at the bottom left and now I can make a biome giblet Plains Awesome now I can create a dimension that has a Plains biome in it skillett I need the dimensional modifier that indicates what type so single for example we’re going to need that and you’ll also notice on the tooltip here currently not craftable so there are a handful of dim lights that aren’t Currently craftable with this system and you’ll need to rely on finding them in chests or in biome in dimensions or whatever right but the plan is for eventually all types of modules to be craftable it’s just there’s a handful of these types that aren’t craftable yet and they’re kind of A work in progress let’s say so we’ve learned thus far the basics of dimensional travel we know how to make a basic dimension that’s pretty much entirely randomized and we know how to power it we know how to visit it and we know how dim let’s work and how to Create and deconstruct dimwits what we’re going to do is wrap up part one of the spotlight here and come back to part two we’re going to talk about some more advanced stuff we’re going to create some custom dimensions we’re going to look at the requirements for power and Dimensions what happens when power runs out and dimensions and a few other things to look at so for now Darrel 20 signing off on part 1 of the RF tools dimension spotlight hope you guys enjoyed checking it out more coming in part 2 stay tuned and for now take it easy Video Information
