Some of you may remember that about four months ago I made a video called my new Minecraft block IDs and changes now I don’t know if mo yang actually saw that video or not probably not but today they released a snapshot that included a whole heap of blocks and they’re Absolutely fantastic it’s fair to say that my prayers have been answered and I’ve never been so excited about an update ever you’ll notice that I rarely do minecraft update videos because they’re so widely covered on YouTube but this one is different and I want to show you why so let’s go And take a look at them so here’s a quick overview of the blocks that we’re going to be talking about every single one of these is brand new except for the bottom line which is actually a retexture of wool so I want to go through all of them and buckle yourself In because this is going to take a while so this is what will looks like now you may not be able to tell the difference if you’re not familiar but to us builders this is quite a nice change will didn’t have the nicest texture and It’s just been picked up this is one of the new blocks white concrete powder now there’s all sorts of colors and it’s exactly the same sand but with all of these mellow colors introduced as well so this is a very very welcome change and this has implications that I want to Talk about later as well moving on we’ve got white concrete itself this forms from the powder and it looks like it’s just one solid color but if we get in real close and have a look you can actually see a very subtle texture and that is very very nice this one block is Going to change the face of creative mode for a lot of us because it’s just such a nice solid color so let’s address the elephant in the room these are the new blocks that might be a bit startling and may even seem out of place to begin With these are the terracotta blocks and what’s interesting about these is that they have a front face meaning that we can rotate them to our will and to get various different patterns so let me demonstrate depending on which way you’re facing the block will rotate accordingly so as you can see each one Is slightly different to the other meaning that we are able to make some fantastic pattern I’ve only done a few samples so this is the pattern that you get just from placing them or in the same direction and this works quite well this one is slightly different and all I’ve done for this one is placed them opposite each other so there’s a lot of twisting and turning to make this one but it does equal a different pattern in the end and what they’re mostly used for is these rotational patterns ones that give you nice circular designs the ones That I believe that they are mostly intended for however minecraft being the creative sandbox that it is you have almost unlimited potential for these it’s absolutely fantastic now we’ve got a lot to get through so I’m going to try and whizz through these as fast as Possible so we’ve got the wool the white concrete powder which have some similarities to red santoor whether this is a much more vibrant color all of these new blocks are really bright and cheerful which is very different to what we’re used to the orange concrete block and we’ve got The orange terracotta this is a quite nice design it’s got some lovely two-tone colors I can’t help but feel that some of these have been inspired by seventies carpets who knows these look pretty good and it looks best on the circular pattern some of these really Work well with the circular and not so much on the other and some vice-versa let’s move on to the purple the magenta here’s the wool block again nice and vibrant and the concrete powder block again nice and vibrant and the concrete itself now want to move on swiftly to The terracotta which I believe is not intended for normal building use this I think is particularly intended for map makers because of the very obvious and distinct arrow imagine you’re in a custom map built by one of the amazing community and you come across this You’re going to be like up look up that is so important we usually had to use other methods of telling the player to do something such as signs or a message in the chat so this bright pink arrow is a very welcome addition to mapmakers next We’ve got the blue colors a lovely light blue which easily progresses into the others so we had the wool concrete powder and the concrete block itself moving on to the terracotta it’s a particularly weird one because the pattern doesn’t seem to flow as well as Some of the others so perhaps I just got the wrong combinations of rotations but the one at the end at least looks really good and would fit well perhaps in an ice palace you can see that most of these have some sort of steam and whoever did this thought about it very Very carefully so we’ve got the yellow blocks these are all sort of sunflower yellow very nice indeed and at the end we’ve got the terracotta which resembles not only some 90s carpets that I’ve seen in my day but the sunflower itself so obviously there has been a lot of Forethought as I said earlier the circular one seems to work the nicest on this pattern however some of those work as well moving on to the lime green it is indeed lime green we’ve got some really nice natural colors coming through here in the green and this one Is quite weird actually because we’ve got these yellow lines that go through it and matching them up in various different ways gives you varying degrees of swerving and if we look at it from a diagonal point of view it actually almost looks 3d which is quite an interesting look and it’s because of Those curves again so this green one is particularly unique but again at the end of the circular design seems to be the way that this one was designed to go and indeed I think most of these were designed to be more in a 90-degree fashion every time you place them pink Books are as standard you’ve got the world you’ve got the powder you’ve got the concrete and moving on to the terracotta one now this one’s a little bit interesting because it’s got this odd leaf pattern on it which is fine but it actually looks like there’s only two Rotations but this isn’t the case the circular one seems to work again the nicest but if we actually show the rotations here you’ll actually notice if you look very very closely that they are not exactly the same so you’ve got to look at the corner to see the rotation of this particular block Just as a little forewarning I’m not sure that anyone perfectly cares that much but we’ll move on to the gray blocks themselves I love all of the gray blocks there’s so many of them meaning you can do a lot with them so these are very welcome additions I love the darker Blocks the terracotta is one of my favorite designs I can’t quite put my finger on it but it’s got this nice zigzag pattern that seems to work in a lot of ways whereas some of the others don’t as I’ve been talking about in this video let’s move on to the light gray We’ve got the wool the concrete powder again and finally the concrete itself all again nice vibrant colors this one is again a really fantastic design it’s got a nice swerving pattern any curves in Minecraft are quite welcome these particular circles I noticed had a very interesting use if We place these blocks in a certain way we can actually get this nice curving design and I wonder how many of you can see where this is going it actually imitates a rail perfectly that design almost looks like it was intended for a rail to go diagonally across it I’m not Entirely sure if it was intentional but it definitely looks like it and the way that these terracotta is looked like they’ve been incredibly well thought out I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that they indeed were so that’s just a thought on that one perhaps if you’ve got a railway or some sort of Rollercoaster that might be a nice idea let’s move on to the cyan blocks again the will the concrete powder and the concrete itself all lovely colors again and the Terracotta is this weird design of square shape actually if you look closely you can see a creeper face again Just showing that there’s been a lot of attention to detail and some of these blocks are minecraft themed much like the purple one so we’ve got the purple we’ll the concrete powder and the concrete itself but at the end here we’ve got a terracotta block that Actually has some minor details in it so you might notice that that looks like the handle of a diamond sword and if we look closely on the other side there’s a little pick axe as well so once you put all these together it actually fades away but it’s got that Minecraft theme To it so again these have been really well thought out so you can’t even tell now that all of those are together but it’s those little details in these locks that I really really enjoy so if you took a look at these terracotta blocks or initially and thought well what’s Going on no no no no these are really really well thought out so we got the blue blocks now with the concrete powder the concrete itself and moving on finally to the Terracotta patterns it’s got almost a shark fin design about it and this almost resembles some DNA so Perhaps you could put that in a test tube and it wouldn’t look too out of place in a science lab it’s got a really nice design and a really nice color palette let’s move on to the brown blocks the will and the brown is like One of my favorite colors so I feel like I will use this quite a lot we got the concrete and finally the terracotta which has a blue brown design which is quite odd and this in particular reminds me of those seventies carpets or nineties carpets that I was going on About not particularly the most attractive thing but great for theming in your builds so let’s move on to the green this is almost the darker cactus green that is going on and again a more 1970s carpet I don’t even know the difference to be honest some of them may Be as old as that I might just be remembering some really ugly carpets in my time so they’ve got some pretty nice designs again using some circular patterns moving on to the red I think the red is possibly one of my favorites because we’ve got a lot of red blocks That exist already and they mix quite well so we’ve got the netherwart block and the nether brick block now red nether brick I think it’s quite a shame that they haven’t added slabs and staircases so mo yang if you are watching please and what would be really really Nice and moving on to the terracotta red ones it looks fantastic got this sort of Chinese smoke about it and it almost looks like a little maze at the NT see how like you can go in between these darker red outlines it’s got a very nice oriental feel now some of these Terracotta obviously have had influence from around the world and I think that’s absolutely fantastic it’s such a nice touch minecraft is global these terracotta designs our global crew that took a long time but we’re on the final one now and the black blocks have been particularly excited because this introduces a Brand-new darkest block in the game the obsidian slightly purple and the coal block has this rather stark texture to it so we’ve got our normal wool and concrete powder but this is now I believe the darkest block in the game which is a big deal for us builders Where we need some of these pure black blocks the terracotta pattern for these is really nice it’s I think I haven’t utilized the rotations very well but this has one of the nicest red black patterns going in all of the terracotta ones and it obviously had some influence From somewhere around the world I really like all of these new blocks I have to commend mo yang on these but we’re not quite finished yet there’s a few more things I want to talk about such as this really nice color progression because of all these new blocks we’ve actually got slightly different Color variations available to us as builders and this is pretty important let’s move on to the crafting so you make a concrete powder block you need some dye for gravel and force and placed as such and then you can craft eight blocks with it that means you can make Quite a lot and it includes a nice use of gravel and sand but how we make the actual concrete is interesting you have to drop it in water or place it next to water and I don’t know if this is a bug but if you put it in only one block of Water it doesn’t change into concrete which could go either way I’m not sure which one is correct perhaps was intentional so let’s move on to how we make the terracotta blocks themselves we know how to make the concrete we actually need stained clay not concrete and put it into the furnace to create The terracotta which of course makes sense you don’t bake concrete but you would make play so that’s how we make the terracotta blocks but what really puts the nail in the coffin that this is a creative builders update is this final feature that they’ve introduced in this snapshot the ability to save an Inventory so I filled mine with wool if I press control one it saves it to the binding of one so if I get rid of all of my blocks and press shift 1 it restores all of those inventories so that is now permanently saved until I override it Meaning that if I fill it up now with clay of all the same colors as the wool which I am sure most people will do if they are into building and then press control – I’ve then saved it – – meaning that I can shift between these two color Palettes very very easily and this works with any combination of blocks you don’t have to make it as organized as I have so that brings us to the end of this snapshot I probably went way too far into detail covering everything but I just got so excited about this update Thank you very much for watching everyone I hope you enjoyed my coverage good bye Video Information

NEW MINECRAFT BUILDING BLOCKS COMING! (Minecraft Snapshot 17W06A). Here is my rather detailed opinion and showcase on the new minecraft snapshot! Building in minecraft is about to get a lot more interesting, however this is only the first snapshot and I expect there will be more to come. They have introduced a variety of vibrant colours that will be very useful and I am very happy to welcome these blocks to the game.
THIS IS PC EDITION!
I forgot to mention in my haste to make this video, that the terracotta blocks that you can rotate offer a HUGE potential for resource pack makers, who now have more rotatable blocks to work with for models.
