Right there so let’s get over there super quick hopefully and close it up oh boy we already have four monsters excuse me okay you can you can close the portal by whacking it which is good um but basically the goal right now is to stay on top of the portals this is easy

Mode this is easy mode how do you have 10 Hearts before picking up Nova I was bad bad path that was a dark path see oh look at that huh yeah I think I have my I’m missing a heart uh anyways another portal has spawned let’s go over this

Way yep oh the ones in the lake so for for when you guys play this you are going to be very sad when they spawn in the lake the lake the lake is mean I don’t like the lake the lake is almost like I’m just going to cut my losses

Kind of thing especially because I’m sure yeah another portals already spawned we’re cutting our losses that orb is going to is going to die anyways we’re going to let that one just die on us prismarine yo Avid what’s up hey we’re playing a bit of other side right

Now we’re going to see if uh if I can beat it um I if it’s possible and we’re going to do a little bit of balancing another Rift has opened that is not good guys we are already falling behind on the Rifts uh maybe this is hard there’s

Nova it is a very versatile weapon it has like kind of a main hand um offensive capability and then offhand support capability and I I just love that where’s the next portal it was pointing in this direction there it is oh my gosh we are getting so unlucky with these

Spawns yeah I’m already I’m noticing I mean it is hard like when you get unlucky spawns on the portals you all you can really do is cut your losses and just say okay well look they killed an orb so they kill an orb and then they

Find a new Target and they go after that which is kind of neat they’re going after after that one now um yeah we’re we’re in we’re in trouble I’m in danger we’re in trouble the tower the tower is at like 75% Health already all right come on Boys yep yep yep yep yep and we’re going to heal get me in there get me in there another portal over here goodness look at how many monsters there are oh my gosh oh gosh no no no no no no no no this is

Bad I want to be able to get Nova in a normal survival world I could in theory release Nova as a data pack it’s actually not that complicated um there’s a couple of nuances with it um like when you have Nova in your off hand it spawns an interaction entity around you which

Is a little funky because that means you can’t really interact with chests um where’s the rift where’s the rift where’s the rift where’s it this way you can’t interact with chests or open doors uh when Nova’s in your off hand so there’s a bit of a

Tradeoff uh oh this is good music for it come on there we go there we go so we’re on top of the portals are we doing well in terms of the you know Tower damage no we are losing orbs left and right oh my oh no oh no oh I’m I’m in

Them um stard Droid says balancing is hard because you have to take into account your skill versus the average player skill and knowledge you know the fact that I know that all you have to do is destroy the portals and you basically can win that is that is pretty that pretty

That’s that’s a pretty big Advantage you know my skill there um once people figure that out I think they can win but the fact that I was still using you know the best strategy that I know of and I didn’t do great I think it’s well look

At my face I think it’s well balanced you should let me test it I mean you will be testing it magic when uh when I put it in the patron server um add some kind of frost Walker custom other side block you know just because the lake is bad doesn’t mean I

Want to fix it like you guys know me I like when there are there are high difficulty components um I think we can reduce the number of chances though that things will spawn in here so let me show you how this works uh there is a marker entity there’s a marker entity right

Here these are the things that actually can spawn uh portals uh NAD says you’ll keep Nova after this yes this is how you’re going to earn Nova now I I don’t know see see I don’t know if if I should give Nova right away or if you should

Have to beat other side a couple of times to get it Nova going to be the best weapon in the game and and and it’s really cool it does a lot of stuff um Angel says I would personally either give more damage to Nova or increase the

Coold down between the Rifts okay um are you using the no Shield strategy yes not poor and that’s more of a lack of strategy will we get Nova on both paths yes just add a boss fight for Nova of course of course um but anyway so these uh these

Little posts here are actually what can what cause the portals to spawn or they’re they’re basically locations where portals can spawn um so let’s take a quick look at that uh here’s our command room not too complicated this is the this is the dialogue between uh den and youu and uh

Cassus um I just want to see spawn monsters look at all these okay uh yeah other side pocket Zim spawn so the way that I spawn in these portals is I’ve placed down markers everywhere hi I’ve placed down markers um at all of these little posts these things here so the

Way we can see a marker markers are invisible entities they’re basically one of the best ways to kind of code in like in a location a position in the world um because it does they don’t render on the client side um but what we’re going to

Do is we’re going to execute at the ENT with the tag other side pocket Zim spawn we’re going to run a particle my favorite glow Squid Ink we’re going to throw that on a repeat and there now we can see where the markers are so what

I’m thinking I think the lake is too mean the lake is mean I want people to get unlucky I want somebody to get a lake spawn and I want that to end their run just because it’s fun losing is fun so what I’m going to do is I’m going to

Kill I’m going to kill marker nearest limit one and it’s gone and we’re going to get this basically the more that are in the lake the more chances there are for the lake spawn to happen because we do a random selection on every single marker in this area um let me see

Uh I think permanent Nova should be basically A New Game Plus reward like after you beat other side once you start over once you get back to the tower you get to keep NOA that time yeah my my typical my typical pattern for giving really good items from quests

Is that you have to beat that Quest multiple times um and so I do think that this probably beating this oh oh good good meet me at the Frozen keep um Sky Knight I don’t use armor stands as much anymore because armor stands are still Ren on the client side

So markers are amazing no markers are are a full-on entity you can summon them marker they are literally consider a marker like an armor stand without all the baggage and with some extra B benefits as well um mainly in data packing they’re really good but they they’re they’re more lag

Friendly um this one is short enough for a five item reward I agree Mass though the only thing is to get into an other to to get in other side there’s a bit of RNG involved um armor stands are so 2020 use chickens instead hi twixie good to see

You ref Tor hello uh do they render a hitbox no markers do not have a hit boox they are literally the client is unaware of a marker a like I my client would not even know a marker was there they’re they’re server side only and they’re made almost exactly for this purpose of

Like I have distributed a bunch of spots everywhere where monsters can spawn in from the portals and then I can select one marker at random and basically pick a random location to spawn a portal in it’s pretty cool uh yeah no markers are markers are

Pretty much the way to go when you want to have like well there’s a lot of different patterns that benefit from markers um but yeah they’re they’re more lag friendly than armor stands um but anyway so I think be I think this is balanced I think this is balanced I think it’s

Difficult um and I think what’s going to happen is when you beat other side you’re going to get a Shard A Shard of Nova um and then once you collect enough of those shards you’ll get the full-on sword I think that’s the right way to go

About it rather than just like giving it away you know because then people will have no incentive to come back to other side so I think that’s kind of neat and I think that’s what we’re going to do um Aid I don’t lose the stream streak welcome Arjun welcome uh like the Deep

Key yeah like a lot of the things on This Server most of the most of the quests require you to beat them multiple times um let’s play through one more time and just we’ll talk we’ll talk about it hi cassus I don’t have a shortcut through

And D just keeps living and dying maybe like time doesn’t work in the same way in other side and I just wrap that wrap that into my lore that you like keep returning at the same point in time the the one item reward should be a couple of potions that give offhand

Buffs for a short time sure that’s a cool idea Nova is grayish white so quartz yeah I guess so these don’t really oh yeah NE quartz that looks like a Shard of Nova yeah I like that okay let’s do it again let’s see if we can do a better

Job oh yeah we got super lucky no monsters that’s really lucky um I like to kind of stand up really high uh and kind of be like Batman you know looking over the city eventually we’ll find out the entire server is a Time Loop which is

Why we’re able to do quests over and over I mean that would be a convenient lore point to uh to make up for my my lack of of creativity when it comes to programming like stateful quests it’s just easier it’s just easier to just have the quest start over from the

Beginning like you you uh you get to the end of the game and you beat like the dragon or whatever and then uh like you there’s a oh there’s got there’s this there’s this joke there’s oh it’s a Joel Haver it’s a Joel Haver skit if you guys

Don’t know Joel Haver he’s so funny um he has a skit where it’s like you’re with this NPC in Skyrim and you uh you like go through the entire game together and like you build like a relationship and you have a family and whatever and hundreds of hours hundreds of hours you

Foremost Nova has um a bunch of a bunch of attributes custom weapon attributes which you guys can add um pretty easily like these things allow you to change the player’s Max Health just on the weapon itself let me switch the song up this is like not an explaining song this is a

Pretty good explaining song so you can change like the player’s Max Health while they’re holding a weapon that’s pretty cool you can change the players’s movement speed their attack damage and attack speed and Max health and I already said that and armor so that’s kind of neat that just

On the sword itself there’s all this there’s all there are all these capabilities and and those are can be triggered whether it’s in the offhand or it’s in the main hand how cool right that’s so cool lemon welcome uh Avid did you your use the glass wall idea I’m not sure what you

Everything else this is my favorite thing about command blocks I can explain things to you and I just cut off all of these features like now it it barely does anything all Nova does is it it it kind of there’s some particles in my in my hand so this section

Here um creates Some Cloud particles roughly where I’m facing where my hand would be it’s all very hand wavy no pun intended and in the offhand funny enough I have to switch the particles to the other side here no do I I do I do I know I do

Here so attention to detail guys so right I have Nova in this hand and then I switch now the particles are on the other side and I’m using predicates yes very simple predicates uh Mass Mac attack will the activated uh special abilities transfer to the reward

Nova yes yes they will Nova is slightly more powerful in other side but it’s uh you’re still going to get most of the benefits so so that’s all this is really doing um we’re also when players are inside of other side we’re giving them some extra speed um and resistance just

For balance purposes so outside of other side Nova is not going to be as powerful but it’s still extremely powerful so let’s go on to the next thing this is the drop attack so what happens is when you’re holding Nova I I I have to give credit to water flow and

A bunch of people from acc3 um they they showed me that one you can interact with a weapon is just by dropping it I mean that is so cool right like you drop it you detect that the item is near the player and you do something that is that is another way to

To to interact with an item and so all we do here we have the commands uh we we have a couple of extra stuff because I had a problem where if a player died and they were next to Nova they would get Nova back in their inventory which is

Like it would be soulbound which I didn’t I didn’t really want um so we we keep track of if they died so that we don’t give it back to them but basically we say execute at all players who have not just died um if there’s a Nova near

Them within two blocks then tag that player with Nova lunge and then uh and then from there we use that to then do stuff which is basically to uh we give we give the item back to the player we then create a particle sweep attack we then make a s

Uh we make a sound and we damage that’s it that’s all it is so it’s this is a really cool attack actually um because it’s kind of like a normal swipe but it has a bit bigger of a range um and it’s cool and it’s just

It’s just more fun to do in my opinion I like it um there’s also a cool down if you notice you hear that sound in your ear listen to this ding that lets you know that the cool down is over so I try to give um audio indications to players and it’s

Always important if your item has a cool down like how do you indicate that to the player in a way other than just ah it’s not it just doesn’t work like that’s that’s kind of frustrating so you do got to you you do have to kind of think about that

Stuff um but yeah okay so that’s the drop attack um offhand interaction okay so when Nova is in my offhand like a so there is an interaction entity a big one too that just follows me around and so in interaction entities you can detect right

Click and oh I turned that off it’s not on yet and left click detection um so that’s that’s really all that I do there uh that’s right click detection next up is CR and this is the last one so when I’m crouching with Nova in my main

Little decisions that add up to like one whole sum um but yeah even on Java the best I can do is a falling door I’m sure with practice you could do a lot more I’m sure I’m sure okay these are all the commands I think these are all the
