Hello everyone Mania here welcome to my full guide on Minecraft role plays 2024 Edition since we’re rolling into 2024 I figured it would be a good idea to start off the new year with a new in-depth tutorial plus it’s kind of been a while since we last did one in this video I’ll Be covering everything I can such as Minecraft versions mods Maps recordings thumbnails and more I’ll put time stamps here and in the pin comments to help you find what you need step one Minecraft versions at the time of making this video we L only have Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions for PC keep in mind I am not covering Pocket Edition or Minecraft Earth I’m only covering versions I know can be modded we just got access to Minecraft version 1.2.2 which I have never played as a Minecraft roleplay YouTuber I rarely go over the version I use for all My videos which is version 1.12.2 uh one. 12 Play 2 came out in 2017 and from what I know it has the largest amount of mods on curse Forge Al although I believe 1.16 is really close but don’t fact check me please the reason I’m using 1.12.2 and not any Newer versions is because of mods the one mod I have to have for any mcrp video is locked at 1.12.2 although they are in the process of updating it at least from what I was told so now that we have our Minecraft version picked out I’m using Java 1.12.2 It’s time to look at mods step two mods so before we get too far into Mods we need to decide what ones we want to use currently we have Forge mods and fabric mods while Forge is more suitable for large and complex mods that change the game fabric is more suitable for small And simple mods that enhance the game I always use Forge so that’s what I’ll be using after going to this website I’m going to link in the description and downloading the version of Forge I want it’s time to install it once Forge is installed it’s time to go to curse Forge And find my mods so the number one mod I have to have is called Blockbuster Blockbuster is my musthave mod for Minecraft role plays because it allows player recordings custom models and a bunch of features they’ve added over the years it is unable to work without its Core mods though so let’s pick up mab and metamorph with those under our belt there’s a couple other mods from Mac horse I have to have such as arure a camera mod with Blockbuster integration million for blockbench models emoticons for more advanced models and Skin and Bones which allows me to have animated Models in Blockbuster I have made model tutorials for these mods so I will not be going over those in this video now that we have our first seven mods we can take a look at our decoration mods I’ve always used crayfish Furniture deoc craft Kakarot and Chin bit but honestly you can use Any mods you want these are just the ones I use and highly recommend someone asked me what mods I would recommend for decorations that are not the common ones and uh well I recently picked up minitura which is similar to a Kakarot step three Maps so world maps are the easiest and Hardest part once you get your version selected and your mod list downloaded it’s time to pick your map most people go for pre-mades like lapis point mopolis and Greenfield if you’re going for a modern series these maps are really good for that it’s the medieval ones that you’re going to have to deal With since you have to create the world from scratch whenever I make a modern series I use monopis it’s really nice for what I normally need and I can always change the buildings as I need to sometimes I have friends who come on and help me change or add new builds and Sometimes it’s just me honestly the best way to find maps is to look up what you’re looking for around the time your version was released to avoid corrupted blocks and other things since I use 1.12.2 I have have to find maps made around 2017 and cuz anything made after That typically doesn’t work and crashes my game step four texture packs texture packs make your game look better sure the default look is nostalgic and stuff but no one wants to watch a modern series when your world looks like this the texture pack I always use for modern series is Invictus while it Sticks close to the default Minecraft textures it’s very clean although sometimes your mods ask for texture packs which makes picking the best texture pack hard that kocot asks for a texture pack otherwise the mod breaks so when that happens I typically go into the texture pack files and change things making it custom Although sometimes that breaks a little just find something that matches your aesthetic you think looks good and matches your game version as there are some texture packs out there for the newer versions that won’t work for the version you picked step five shaders skip this step if your computer can’t handle Shaders shaders change how the lighting works in your game giving you beautiful water and shadows there are so many good shaders out there such as Sonic E’s unbelievable shaders Seuss that’s typically what that is known uh BSL sers choco piics and so many more There are so many I used to use BSL all the time but recently I finally found my must have shaders astrx astrx shaders are possibly one of the most beautiful shaders I found not counting a seus adding in an aurora borealis the Northern Lights uh shooting stars and constellations it has so many Settings for customization as Wells for fog light rays the color of your lighting and Sky it’s my musthave step six story let’s just immediately get into writing and planning uh creating a story is one of the hardest parts of starting a Minecraft roleplay if you already have An idea in mind good if not here’s some tips I found for making a story inspiration is key I always find myself getting inspired by other media like Manga Movies books and YouTube videos sometimes even just a sentence from a friend gives me ideas it’s it Easy to start a story get an idea the the hardest parts are finding a good middle and end for it definitely don’t rush it a rushed story is a story not a lot of people may like but you also don’t want to take several episodes to Get your point across the pacing of your story is also very important another key thing is cliches to explain a little bit cliches are things that happen commonly in media like the main character being the chosen one the hero of the world and the typical bad boy good girl romance Stories I’ll be honest I am also a victim of cliches which is to say it’s not always a bad thing you can always take a cliche and put a Twist on it for example put in a love triangle then have your character pick the wrong one and Regret it don’t be afraid to use cliches in your story do your best to make them a bit more unique more you all right back on topic you want to write a story you want it to be unique but you’re having a hard time brainstorming with friends writing down A list of potential ideas watch other Minecraft role plays to see if you get inspired your ideas will come to you eventually it just takes time before we move on to the next part of story writing I want to touch on the fact you can get inspired by other Content creators but do not copy them I myself have seen people take large ideas directly out of my own content and people literally came to talk to me about it if someone did something you liked and you want to do it too you need To put your own unique spin on it do not have your character do the same thing as theirs an example of this would be having your scenes lines look sound look and sound similar have your characters have the same relationships interactions and traumas like I mentioned before with Cliches some things are common and can’t be avoided very well just do your best make it yours not theirs next up is World building so now that you have your idea Modern War Fantasy you have to build your world world building is creating lore and background for your characters To know or learn that makes the world seem more in depth examples would be races locations history World building is important while you don’t want to dump all of your lore on your viewers at once you you also don’t want to leave them wondering what happened an example would be a Large battle in the middle of a field your viewers are going to have questions like is there a war why who’s at war what’s the cause of this where are they you can answer all these questions with World building revealed by character dialogue this brings us over to Character creation so you have your world buil you have your lore you have a story on hand ready to be created but you need characters in the story who’s your lead character are they male f female or non-binary what are their skills their personality what do they Look like character creation is just as important as your story and your world building these characters live in the world you created what’s their backstory do they have a family what’s their motive to be doing these things in your plot does their appearance affect something in the story how many Characters do you need do you want them to be a loved character or hated all these questions are super important and they affect the way your story is written so with that let’s hop into scripting so scripting is actually sitting down and writing your story out With the world lore you created and the characters you’ve made to live in that world ident identify who’s important in the story and who’s the main villain who’s the main character and who’s the supporting character here’s here’s a good example if your story is about a yandre in a school setting your main Villain is the yandre while the main character could be the Senpai or friend of the senpi the side characters could be friends of the yandre and try to warn the main character of coming dangers only to be ignored or killed in the end of it all you could have the yandre win Or lose with all or some of your characters dead so now that you have your characters assigned to their roles and you have a general idea of your beginning middle and end it’s time to write your episodes episode lengths depend on how you do your series is it First person or third person cinematic I’ll be going over these next don’t worry third person cinematic should be seven pages for 10 to 15 minutes depending on what happens you can always write more but that’s up to you first person is different since it’s practically improv That’s up to you and your team to figure out step seven different types of role plays so as I mentioned previously there are different types of role plays we have first person and cinematic cinematic role plays are fully scripted voice acted and body acted with intricate camera angles and they just Look really nice while first person role plays are typically improv to explain a little improv is a form of live theater in which the plot characters and dialogue of a game scene or story are made up in the moment I’ve made several improv series like roommates Arya online and Camp Yandre Origins was also a big improv group I was part of first person role plays are easier set up due to the fact you can improv and you don’t need to follow a script word for word but there are several things that that first person and cinematics have in Common you still need voice actors there’s a website called casting call Club where you can send out a casting call and people who are interested can apply for your project that’s typically where I find voice actors body actors and sometimes Builders you can also just have your Friends join in on your projects if that’s easier for you when using cast and call a little reminder you need to be professional let them know if it’s a paid project or free one so when you when that’s done and you have your voice actors and body actors You need to set up a Minecraft server to get them online there are a lot of server hosts out there that you can pay to have a server opened up and put mods on I use server.pro but I also know people who use BCT hosting or shock bite If you can’t afford a server you can always use the free site but is really wonky and sometimes random people can get access to your server since it’s a free and public hosting it’s easy to install mods if you know how your server host works and there are A ton of tutorials out there for your chosen server host so it’s easy to learn how to install maps and mods please keep in mind a server and body actors are not required for third person cinematic role plays if you are using the mod Blockbuster I mentioned earlier step eight Minecraft Skins so with your actors ready and your server set up it’s time to make your Minecraft skins for your actors to wear HD skins are super popular as of late and I myself use them all the time there are different styles to deal with from Super HD to HD pixel art if you have art skills you can create these skins yourself in paint and using a bunch of different tutorials you can find on YouTube I myself do not have art skills so I buy pre-made assets from different creators like B of trash amazing L gum Trop and a bunch of other creators all Link in the description the prices are different depending on the Creator but they are well worth it in my opinion you can combine and change these assets however you want to get a look you want I’ve been using these assets for years And my characters always look great and having the designs planned out beforehand really helps out a lot because you know what you needan step nine recording mods Maps scripts actors and skins with everything set up and ready it’s time to get into recording first step is your recording Software I use OBS and you should be too OBS open broadcast software is a free and open source software for video recording and live streaming it’s free you don’t have to pay for it and there’s no watermark to cover your video so now that we have our recording software I’ll start with recording Improv so if you’re here for cinematics Jump Ahead to this timestamp all right so improv is a bit easier to record than cinematic because there’s less prep work going into it in order for improv to work out communication is key you have to be clear with your actors on recording Times and dates what you want to happen during the episode who needs to be where audio cues and other things okay maybe it’s not that easy but just hear me out you need to communicate with your actors if they leave your line of sight they cannot keep talking since That doesn’t make a lot of sense if you leave the room your actor cannot keep talking like you’re in the room because it breaks immersion always set a time and date beforehand so people can prepare and be ready for the recording session it’s a hassle if you come to Them the day before and be like hey we’re recording tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. half those people might not be there because they might already have plans they can’t or don’t want to cancel because you came with them last minute plan ahead you have a script so you must have Plot points or key interactions you need done for some episodes let those actors know what must be covered during the episode like if someone died and you need the main character to know tell your actors so they can bring it up during the recording if someone needs to come in mid scene Give them an audio cue like when I say this come on screen or when some and so says this make your way into the building as I said communication is key it is required it’s time for cinematics cinematic role plays are some of my favorites to create although a bit of a Hassle I enjoy it cinematic role plays are third person like all TV shows and movies the first thing you need is your voice lines from the script you’ve written combine all those lines into an audio file then use the body actors to do the movements and actions needed from The script you WR this is where Blockbuster comes in handy it makes doing this super easy I’m going to explain how to do it with Blockbuster since it’s the only way I’ve ever done cinematic role plays I apologize is if uh this is not what you’re looking for but this is what I Have uh Blockbuster has audio integration so you can add the audio into the mod and have it play as you recording Rec in allowing better sync of the actor’s movements Blockbuster also adds fake players to your game that you can control and record for body acting then When it’s all done use the playback button to playback you’re recording you can use the arpit mod to create camera angles that work with Blockbuster allowing good cinematic camera angles to work well with your body actor’s movements I’ll probably have to make a more in-depth tutorial for this one so Let me know if you need this step 10 editing editing is more of a learning experience it’s really how you want things to be combined even I still struggle with editing so I just go as simplistic as possible combine my Clips cut them where I need to cross fade add music and I’m Done if you want to add effects like light like lightning magic circles and other things you’re going to have to find tutorials for the editing software you have there’s a free software called Caden live I’ve used it and it’s it’s pretty pretty good it has a lot of Tutorials on YouTube to follow but I personally use move which costs you about $100 Step 11 thumbnails so with your episode finished it’s time to make the thumbnail first thing you need is a Minecraft rig there are a lot out there free ones or ones you have to pay for You need to pick a rig that works with the software you’re using I use Cinema 4D but most people go for blender because that one’s a free program once you have your software and your rig create your thumbnail apply your skin pose and render there a are a Lot of in-depth tutorials out there that help with thumbnail making and you can always take a look at other people’s thumbnails for on for ideas on how to do yours once your render is done save it and open it up in your picture editing software of choice and paint.net Are too free and good choices if you don’t own Photoshop or clip Studio I use both and paint.net at times once it’s open edit it how you want add light rays make the color brighter add a background and border and save it biggest thing is you’re happy with what you’ve Made all right I hope I’ve answered most of your questions there might be some information I missed since this is a huge info video if you have any questions drop them in the comments below and I’ll do my best to get to them and if you stuck around to this point in The video thank you so much I really appreciate it uh thank you guys so much for watching and I’ll see you in the next one Bye-bye Video Information
