As soon as I uploaded my last video, I knew I wanted to do this. Castle to None and Dirge of the Sky are some of my favorite maps ever made. Certainly helps that one of the mapmakers made a special appearance at the last few seconds of the run. (Ash was here-) I ran through Castle solo (with commands of course with the exception of Garden of Death) because I wanted to go back and revisit the aesthetic (gorgeous). I then came here and thought… “screw it”. Managed to get two phases in about a dozen or so attempts, and that’s how I knew I wanted to do this. Which was shocking, as no one had ever uploaded something like this before! Hence the “World First” title. Correct me if I’m wrong, please.
A few things I’ve learned in my time in Throne Jail. Add Spawn Manipulation – I thought spawns were on a timer at first: they were not, as I have learned a long while later. Once the Throne Room reaches maybe around five or six adds left I’d say, it spawns some more. I learned this after waiting out a nonexistent timer. You can see me using this technique to my advantage many, many times this run. Skeletons – Like I mentioned in my last video, still the bane of my existence to this day. I had to learn to keep my aim straight while under fire which was a living hell. Be fast and proactive – You will not get anywhere just by camping in the safe spot at the back of the room. Adds NEED to die, the diamond zombies ESPECIALLY NEED to die. If you don’t have the three potions by the time you finish the second bullet phase, there is still hope, but its albeit scuffed. Blights – Simply put, they can heal the adds. You have no idea how many wipes this has caused me due to failing my spawn manipulation techniques above. Finally, survivability is far more important than any damage. Insane statement coming from me as someone whos a big damage-happy type of guy, but if you are coming from Destiny, there is no enrage timer here. You can just think of this as a more advanced dungeon boss (still more fun than Simmumah, wink wink). If you get swarmed (which you will be in a lot of cases), spam healing potions and your staff right click to at least try to keep crowd control going, but just damage as much as you can while staying alive.
I don’t think there is a lot more for me to say about this challenge. Besides some of the frustration, it was pretty enjoyable and actually kind of fun in a lot of cases. Though I’d be crazy if I ever came back to Solo Throne again– This isn’t the Prophecy dungeon. Power Creep is absolutely not a thing here. I’m just so happy I finally got to see it get done. Although scuffed with defender, I have a feeling its *possible*, especially as it has better damage output, though you won’t see me trying it. I had to crutch healing for gods sake.
