Hello my name is green and welcome back to another minecraft video today i’m in the aquatic update and you might have guessed we are building an underwater house and this is what it looks like it’s obviously a very modern styled house but this is potentially the best style for an underwater house mainly Because it’s got really big open windows so for today’s video i’m going to have to ask you guys not to follow it block for block and there’s a very important reason you’re gonna have to go into the ocean and have a look around we can see Through the water a lot easier now in this new update and you need to find a bit of terrain that isn’t as shallow as that because you wouldn’t be able to fit a house under there you need to find something that goes pretty deep under Water as you can see that would be a pretty good space there as would obviously where i’ve made my house here then once you’ve got that you’re gonna have to make the shape and we’re going to get into the tutorial a bit later but the exact dimensions of this house may Not fit into every single bit of terrain so what i’m going to have to say to you today is try and take the techniques that i’m going to teach you and then make it into your own house as best as you can and maybe experiment a little Bit further than i did with this one i kept it moderately simple but with a really nice effect so it’s quite a big house and this is a mammoth task if you’re taking this in survival but let’s get into it because this is a really really cool house design to try and do Okay let’s get on with the tutorial we’re back in 1.12 now so i can use the replay mod and boy does the ocean look really empty without all of the kelp and the sea grass but what we’re looking for is a nice patch of deep ocean along the Coast that looks like this you’ve got some nice greenery in the background it’s up to you there’s so many different variations i’ve chosen this chunk of land that goes slightly diagonally backwards you’re looking for a nice wide area to work with if you’re going for this style of house so this water is Slightly in the way so for your viewing pleasure i’m going to drain away the water so we can see what we’re doing nice and easy and what we’re going to start off by doing is making the top layer as an anchor point for the rest of the building so about two blocks below The water level or even one create a big rectangle that juts out into the ocean itself it may seem like an enormous platform and that’s because it probably will be try and focus on this bit here from the front on and not the top down because from the top it will look Absolutely massive but don’t be afraid to shave off layers and add some as you see fit now once you’ve got that platform assorted either on the right hand side or the left hand side we want to add another vertical layer of quartz as i have whichever one is open Depending on your terrain and then i’ve just thickened up the top layer so that it’s two quartz blocks instead of one giving it a more dominant presence in the build but you’ll see that the upside down l shape actually stopped short of the seabed and that’s because i want to Add my own platform and one of the key parts of this platform is that it overhangs quite a lot you can see that it’s three blocks on the right and two blocks in front of this l shape it is a massive platform that will almost look Like a balcony if it wasn’t under water now underneath this upside down l shape we’re going to make the counterpart out of spruce wood and by counterpart i mean it’s another upside down l shape but slightly smaller and set one block back from the original and you can see There’s an overhang of two blocks on the left the overhangs in this build are really really important and later on you’ll see how they all kind of overlap each other but they’re still connected so we have our very first box here this is the main part of the build but you Can see there’s a really big open area on the right hand side and that’s what we’re going to tackle now so we’re going to attach the rest of this base to the side again we’re going for that upside down l shape and one thing i want to Point out is not to have any of these parts sitting on blocks so i just remove any of the terrain that protrudes into the build so that it looks like it’s connected at all sides it’s a very good tip for all building in general not just underwater houses once i’ve done that It’s then time to put in the glass wall for the front of this and yes i did miss four blocks on the front i don’t know how but i missed four so there’s no need to point it out the house is flooded on the right hand side this is where it’s Going to start getting a bit more complicated we’re going to add another platform set three blocks down or even more i’ve even chosen to use half a block extra for some reason and i’m creating another platform that goes all the way back to the terrain don’t stop It short go all the way back to the terrain the whole thing needs to protrude out of the mountain itself and underneath i’ve created a big overhang so as you can see i’ve got two blocks on the right hand side and i even made sure there’s two blocks on the front one how These buildings overlap is really important for this style and this is where it gets even more complicated because the spruce support is actually going to go below our concrete base layer the one that i said that was so important and we’re actually going to create a whole new overhanging layer Because we’re under water the normal sort of building rules not that there are any rules at all in minecraft building they don’t really apply in the same way because of the ways that we can approach this building i.e from any angle whatsoever so now i’ve added in the windows all the Way around remember big open windows on this build are important so that you can enjoy the oceanic view and this is what we have so far so we’ve got a bit of an overview we have our main rectangle on the middle sitting on a base all upside Down l’s and then we’ve got an extension on the right with huge overhangs but a lot thinner and a lot smaller than the original one so now what we’re going to do is make this base on the right even thicker by adding two more of grey Concrete it’s always a nice idea to add a bit more grey scale to a build like this we’re not going overboard with crazy colors because of the style of the build and the palette but who’s to say that you can’t use pink nobody you can Use pink if you want so once you’ve done that you can then add another one slab layer and then sort of top it off if you want to cover up the inside and then you’ve just got a really nice thick layer with a bit of Depth on it for that extension to sit on but of course it is a bit weird having it just floating there and there’s a bit of a in-depth look a closer look at it so you can see how it’s laid out but as you can see big overhangs still really Important to remember how each layer needs to overhang and then set back again we’ve got another spruce set of supports this time it hits the seabed itself so that it’s actually got something to sit on now there is no building underneath because it is nice to have it offset With a bit of ground space but again there are no rules you could put some more glass there and create even more building if you want to but it’s up to you it’s completely up to you no rules whatsoever we’ve got this big space underneath our base concrete layer here And it does look odd so we’re going to fill it and this is where we’re going to add the actual entrance to the house which i’m going to demonstrate later on but hopefully this will make sense so i’m leaving a bit of a gap between the Top of the entrance and the base layer itself now this does look a bit odd just having a gap here and we’re going to make it look like it’s fully supported so adding a bit more terrain in there so it doesn’t look like i’ve destroyed it too much and then putting some oak Pillars between them you could use any block here it doesn’t really matter i think oak really fits in quite nicely here and it adds just another bit of texture to it that wasn’t there previously so as you can see it all looks really nice and connected now what We’re going to do is create another set of quartz layer below the original one leaving about two or three blocks do not make this too massive as i will show you later the water has a mind of its own and we want to make it more manageable So we want it kind of thin and it’s sitting on the seabed now so you might want to edit some terrain around it if you want so once you’re actually inside you want to make this go back as far as you like and you probably will have to Delete some of the terrain in there you can see that there’s a cave connecting so i’m just going to cover that up for now you want something that looks like that where it goes fairly deep into the mountain itself so that you can connect it to the rest of the house now this Looks incredibly bare bones and i know that but that’s because there is no vegetation and there is no interior but as a shell this is what the house looks like couple of upside down l shapes big open windows and a key support layer in the middle that everything is connected To one way or another so let’s put the water back and then we’re going to head down into the ocean as you can see the water doesn’t behave itself in this version thank goodness we’ve got the new aquatic version so what we’re going to do is go Back into the snapshot version and take a closer look at everything else to do with this build and we’re back in the snapshot this house works so much better in this with all the surroundings all the new terrain and the tricks and all the greenery the plants obviously make This with this may even look even better in a tropical area where you can have lots of coral and decorate this differently however this as you can see is not an exact replica it is the same style and it has the same shapes like we’ve got the upside down l we got this Little bit on the side but the dimensions are by no means exactly the same and this is what i meant by not following the dimensions that i’m doing just take what i’ve done and sort of integrate it into your own bit of terrain because obviously every single Bit of terrain around an ocean is going to be vastly different for example this house would not fit nicely into this little area here but this is a very nice area to have an underwater house and it’s even circular so you might decide to go for something completely different Make a semi-circle that goes all the way up and sort of use this area down here as well you can really use the terrain to your advantage however the terrain is mostly straight and goes pretty deep down now i think the terrain has somewhat changed in how it’s generated So you might find that this looks slightly different to what we first did with the time lapse anyway what i want to point out with this house is that there’s some things that you can add to this to make it look a little bit nicer you can add seagrass which of course we Couldn’t do before greenery always makes a build look much nicer and you can even put some of it on top of your house itself it might look a little bit strange but it does actually add quite a lot even on the side here and you can Double it up by using some bone meal to make it too tall and it’s a pretty cool way to do it you can also take some grass blocks and make the land above your house just that little bit bigger to kind of mold the two in you can even Put grass on top of your house like that if you want although that does look a little bit strange when you use bone meal underwater it tends to just go nuts like it just places it everywhere so you might want to remove a couple and then Double up on some of them you want to kind of keep it nice and sparse but not overdo it so from a distance you can obviously see much better through the water in this update and the color oh my goodness the view anyway let’s take a look at what We’ve got for the interior of this build now as you can see this goes slightly deeper than the one we just made on the time lapse and this has got exactly the same style entrance everything is pretty much the same style it’s just the dimensions are slightly Different on this one but we’ve got the same big start here we’ve got a little bit on the right hand side and then we’ve even got the connecting bits that go all the way down although it is a bit deeper on this side we actually have Some of the terrain but we’ll come back to that the entrance here the idea is that there is no entrance above ground if you want to get into this underwater house you’re going to have to go underwater and you’ve got to swim with the cool animation Into this area here and this is sort of the landing ground it’s kind of might remind you of sort of an evil underground layer that you might see in cartoons but you know where they send out their submarines whatever now this is where the water meets the house And this is the only way i could figure out it took me over an hour this is the only way i could figure out to have it so that the water doesn’t just flood in and it’s a little maybe a little bit complicated but if you take a side on View you can see there’s a couple of half slabs here and then there’s another half slab that makes this bit full the water source is actually here and it drips down hits this half slab and there needs to be two blocks here stopped by another half slab and then the water will then Drain in and fall down but not flood your area now that’s the important part it’s kind of difficult now this is the only way i could get it to work i really really did experiment for a long time trying to make this happen but the water is so uncooperative it really did Not want to play ball uh you might you will obviously get squids that just want to play with you but off you go back into the ocean you go but they obviously will just leave you some some nice ink sacks every now and again which is quite nice of them uh so There is actually a little bit of a bug here i wanted to share with you i’m pretty sure this will get fixed but it’s pretty fun anyway so if you place a spruce boat on half a block not the full block the half a block and you take it Out into open waters for some reason it doesn’t sink it’s like you’re actually in a submarine i normally these are supposed to sink to the bottom as you can see it has done over there but for some reason it’s just a little bit buggy And you could just go in and out on your boat which is pretty useless i’ve got to be honest but it’s still a fun little bug anyway so this is like the little boat area and if we go upstairs we have a pretty normal modern house obviously the two big differences Are that there’s no open air you’ve got a lovely view of the outside ocean and what a view it is i recommend that when you choose your location for your underwater house you take into consideration what it looks like through the glass as well as the terrain that You see the house in you need something that’s just all around picturesque now on the other side we would just have a bit of land here because obviously the house is integrated into the terrain so we just put a aquarium here just to keep it nice and ocean themed and there’s Some fish in there and they’re pretty happy as well it’s not very big but it does add to the ambience of the house now if your roof is only one block thick or even thinner you will get drips i don’t really mind the drips too much it Kind of reminds me that i am under water but if it’s annoying all you got to do is just add another block here or half a block to cover that up and then through here we just got another room there is another little bug here where if there’s water above your block You see the underside of the water animation and it’s gray which is really weird it’s just it’s just a strange texture to have and i’m 900 sure that that will be fixed when this update officially comes out but you can see these nice open windows are key to having this underwater house Be under water basically you need to be able to see that you are underwater at all times you get a nice view of the ocean and then if you want to leave you just swim out as you would normally with the dolphins and the squid there’s Nothing here to hurt you it’s very very nice and pleasant so that’s pretty much it i love how this build looks and i can’t wait to see what you guys do with this design and how you will take this differently obviously you don’t need to use this exact one maybe you don’t want This bit you could just have a balcony maybe you want this bit over that side or perhaps you want this bit to stick out even more maybe you want more to protrude maybe even want to do the half a cylinder thing that goes up and over There’s so much you can do here this is just sort of the techniques and the trial and error that are involved in making houses so this was just a random one where so the key things to take home from this are these straight lines the upside down L’s the little sections how they overlap is a big thing so you can see the center of this house looks quite complicated because this base layer is kind of the middle bit but it protrudes out of everything it’s all connected to this solid middle bit here it’s all nice and Connected that’s probably the biggest thing connect all of them make them look rigid they’re connected all the way to the bottom and they’re they’re not just sitting on blocks like so as i mentioned earlier and if you have to put terrain in try and mix in some andesite and some Cobblestone or whatever else that you may need or you may want to change that into another bit of glass and have some more building down there that would also look awesome there’s so much potential with this and if you want to see some more underwater house designs i would be More than happy to brainstorm and come up with a few more designs to share with you that aren’t in a modern style perhaps something completely different if you would like that please let me know so thank you very much for watching everyone can’t wait to see what you guys Come up with and good bye Video Information
