Insane Wither Skeleton Farming Trick! 😱 | Minecraft Survival Guide

Hello everyone my name is Pixar IFS and welcome back to the Minecraft Survival Guide I hope you guys are having a good day I am up here at the top of my wither rose farm that we built in yesterday’s episode and while it might not seem like

A whole lot has changed I have done a little bit of work down there specifically I have flooded out at the bottom of this island to prevent the Enderman from teleporting around and I have encased a decent portion of the bottom of this farm in obsidian now so

I’ve got my camera account logged in just so I could make sure nothing bad was happening and so far it seems like nothing has let me get to a safe spot over here I can switch to the camera account and give you a little bit more

Of a tour because what we have over here is an obsidian box that is mostly there I haven’t done too much to the floor because the way that didn’t seem to be breaking the floor all that much and so far that has remained consistent what

People have let me know is that oh oh gosh okay I did put a sea lantern in the corner there and it seems like the hover minecart might have stopped down there so let me quickly correct that first of all I put some obsidian in there and now

I need to figure out a way that I can duck down here yes there we go just to give this hopper minecart a push make sure that’s collecting all of the stuff that drops on the platform and let’s take a look at the output for this farm because even though I haven’t done

Anything to mess around with the the ender pearls or anything yet look at that oh good we have so many we’re the Roses which I am going to gather up into a shelcha box or maybe just into my inventory I’ll just throw the rest of this stuff into the Shilka box and we

Are gonna take that back home people have let me know that the main problem with farms like this is that the wither will occasionally throw out a blue skull which can destroy basically any blocks it treats even blocks like obsidian like they have a really low blast resistance

And so the best thing to do with this farm is to not spend too much time at it if you yep there we go there was a blue skull so that’s probably destroyed a few blocks the best thing to do is to make sure that you don’t hang around this

Farm too much when it’s not actually producing Enderman so I’m actually going to head back through the portal nice and quick there we go and we can log the camera a out as well there are apparently ways that you can turn that farm on and off

Quite easily using a piston and a couple of blocks to push the weather up or down a fractional amount and that’s gonna make sure that they don’t end up fire boiling any of the stuff that you’ve built around there if you don’t want them to but I’m gonna leave that for

Another day and if you’re interested in doing that yourself check out raise workers video on the subject because once again the design of that farm has been kind of perfected by him and it’s very much it’s very much worth checking out the video I link that in the description of yesterday’s video

Where we built the way the rose farm so I recommend checking that out but now we have all of these beautiful flowers in my inventory these where the roses are going to be spectacular to be able to use in some farms and I think today we

Are going to make a start on a nice spooky farm because this is going out on Halloween we are going to make a new-and-improved with a skeleton farm because one of the things I would like to do more of in this series is acquire a few more beacons which is going to

Mean fighting the wither a few more times so you’ll need to acquire a few wither skeleton skulls I still have three hanging out in here and I do have a wither skeleton farm but to be honest it is not the most efficient farm out there in fact it’s a little bit ropey

Right now the farm I’m talking about is of course this one right here this farm is kind of a mess and I haven’t really ever finished it because to my mind it wasn’t gonna be the best example of a wither skeleton farm that we can use for the foreseeable future in this series

It’s a nice early game with a skeleton farm even though it does take a fair amount of effort to build it will be nice and simple for your early game requirements and as you run through here the wither skeletons will be able to see you over this gap but the other mobs

Won’t be able to see you and hopefully if you don’t spawn too many mobs outside of this area if you have the fortress brought down to a fairly minimal size you will start to gather the attention of a few wither skeletons but as you can

See as I run through here in my current state and a few of the mobs have probably spawned on the fortress around the outside of that we don’t see a great deal of wither skeletons spawning inside this farm right now and I could optimize the space around here but really it

Wouldn’t be all that worth it considering that there more optimized more fun and slightly easier to build farms that require you just to have a couple of rare resources and in this case where the roses are part of that and so I could redevelop this wither skeleton farm but I think

We’re going to go out and find another suitable nether fortress and we are gonna start building a new one from scratch the main reason for that being that some farms like this are most effectively built at a crossroads in the nether fortress and I have kind of lost

Track of exactly where those are I’ve kind of cannibalized this area a little bit turned it into a giant nether brick platform and to my knowledge you cannot yes I’m trying to do it now you cannot place roses on nether brick you cannot plant with the roses on that which you

Can on nether ACK and on soulsand and on other blocks that you could plant flowers on in the overworld but what a farm like this does is utilizes a rule whereby any nether brick placed within the large bounding box of a nether fortress not just the smaller bounding

Boxes that dictate where the corridors and rooms spawn in but I mean the overall bounding box that covers everything in a nether fortress any nether brick placed within there has the chance to spawn fortress mobs which means blazes wither skeletons and that kind of stuff if we want to set up a

Fortress farm using wither roses we can’t use nether brick if we can’t place the roses on it so what we need to do is look at some of these smaller bounding boxes of a fortress we need to look at the places where you have a large area within those smaller bounding boxes

Which is typically going to be a fortress crossroads and within the area of one of those crossroads we can place any block at all any solid block that would normally be able to spawn some type of mob and it will be able to spawn fortress mobs which means we could place

Netherrack they’re covered in wither roses and the cool thing is mobs will still spawn even if the ground is completely covered in flowers they still count as a solid block that the mob can spawn on even though there is a flower occupying that space already and for

That we can just cover the entire thing and wither roses kill off all of the other mobs that would spawn and then leave only the wither skeletons which we can of course lure into another area either with ourselves as a player or by some other means and I think the place

Where you’re going to do that is enough the nether fortress which I have found a little bit further out in this direction it’s actually the fortress that I passed through to get to the ski village that I’m building out here in the ice biomes out in the overworld and I think once we

Get to around here we should start to see it spawning in yes there it is here in the distance there are a couple of nice areas around here I’m thinking specifically of areas like this where I imagine there’s a pretty large area there we could use for a an efficient

Fortress fun likewise we’ve got a crossroads there as well which could be used as a pretty efficient fortress farm and once again will mean spawn proofing a lot of this area either with slabs or with you know placing lava over the top of it or something like that and we

Might still get affected by some of the pigments spawning in this area as well so a larger scale farm a and more efficient farm is going to require us to get rid of a lot of the other stuff from around here but even so I think this is

A pretty good candidate to try out a fortress crossroads farm where we’re using wither roses to get rid of all the other mobs and just leave us with the wither skeletons so I’m going to spend a little bit of time with the bounding box outline reloaded mod check out the

Videos that I did about the previous with a skeleton farm if you want to see a little bit more about how that works and I’m gonna figure out exactly the bounding box of the area we can use to make a little fortress farm out here and

I think this might be the best candidate but we will see we’ll see if there are any spots that feel a little bit better so Bandung box is a pretty great mod but it’s unfortunately not gonna be something everybody can rely on and so I’ve decided to come back here and show

You how you can figure out the dimensions of a crossroads area like this without having to worry too much about bounding box at being there in the first place the first thing I’m gonna do though is take care of some of these skeletons who are hanging around because

Otherwise I’m gonna get sniped in the middle of this and probably knocked off into the lava as well using this black and orange wall the Halloween colors that I picked out for the founders Forge Halloween festival we are going to measure out a few things here we’re

Going to go one two three four five six seven eight to there and we’re gonna go along one two three four five six seven eight to there and you’ll notice that this lines up perfectly with these other structures that are part of the fortress here we’ve got this kind of doorway into

This room with the stairs and over here we have the little archways that lead out to some more sections of the fortress that actually marks the cutoff point for the bounding box of this crossroads area and so using the same measurements we can figure out exactly

Where the bounding box ends on each of these four sites and that is eight blocks out from this intersection on both sides the intersection being a three block wide space here one two three that is 19 blocks long so this is a 19 by 19 square with a height of 10

Blocks and that is something that I figured out just by looking at it in a bounding box but you can actually hop down here and you can find the bottom of it by measuring the pillars down here and you’ll notice that this kind of section steps in a little bit and that

Block there that one there is the bottom of this bounding box so I’m actually gonna start placing these blocks around the outside of the bounding box so that we have all of the space on the interior to work with instead of having to worry about measuring around the outside of

The blocks I’m placing here so this right there is where the outside of the bounding box starts and we’re going to measure this whole thing out as a as a 19 by 19 by 10 cuboid I guess it’s gonna be because it’s not really a cubit for the side

Done all equal I guess it serves me right for not bringing a fire resistance potion with me but I am holding shift with all of this strength I can muster at this stage to make sure that I don’t fall off of this thing into the lava it

Would be perfect wouldn’t it to fall into the lava on Halloween of course it would but no it looks like we’ve got the the colors a little bit out of alignment here so after a lot of very tense bridging and some pretty close calls with blazes and with the skeletons this

Right here is the bounding box of the farm this is the area we’re going to be working with and to be honest I really like the combination of black and orange here in the nether it is kind of on point I think considering the amount of

Lava that is around the amount of fire and everything and the nether really needs some kind of like black ash block or something around we should probably do something like that with concrete powder one of these days anyway I’m getting ahead of myself and I’m getting

A little bit distracted by all of the blazes shooting me but the next step is really going to be to take down all of the material inside of here and reformat it as a series of platforms because I need to see quite how much space we have

In here to farm the wither skeletons my thinking is we’re probably only going to be able to fit two platforms in here because we want a platform on which the skeletons and obviously the other fortress mobs and stuff are gonna spawn that’s gonna be where all of the way the

Roses are in the first place but then after that we’re going to need a hop a mine cart underneath collecting anything this stuff drops because it would still be kind of nice to have some amount of drops from this farm excuse you I’m trying to shoot you down there we go

Yeah it would be kind of nice to get whatever drops we could out this farm or at the very least to make sure that the entities left over from the drops all of the the stuff that the zombie pigmen that died in the wither effect are going

To drop like on those swords and gold nuggets and that kind of stuff it’s either worth collecting up or it’s worth just destroying to make sure it doesn’t lack out the world with the amount of stuff that’s gonna be left around here so we’re probably only gonna be able to

Fit a couple of platforms in this space is my thinking here because we’ll need something for the minecart rails to run on of course and some hoppers and various things to take away all of the stuff and then we’ll need to put another floor in above that so yeah anyway we’re

Getting ahead of ourselves once again let’s just take down everything in on the inside of here on the inside of this bounding box and then we can start setting up the platforms that are going to form the foundation of the farm All right we have our area we have our area all dug out i sprung a time lapse on you weren’t expecting that were you huh so now i’m gonna get a place HS down over here and that’s gonna be the output for our hopper mine cards of course

We’re gonna end up with the hover mine carts coming out let’s save this corner just arbitrarily choosing that we can put this in here like so double chest there and we can have the hoppers running into that and of course this whole section here it’s gotta be rails

And the cool thing is with this strip of redstone blocks across the middle that actually catches the entire range that you can power these rails one more block to either side as it is here without this redstone block that rail isn’t powered if we place a rail there I guess

It is because it ends up getting powered by that but if we place a rail here on this line not powered but that’s fine because right here is where we’re actually going to be curving the rail so that actually worked out mathematically super well and with that I have just

About used up every single powered rail I had give or take a couple that are still left in the Redstone chest over the top of this we’re gonna be placing a layer of netherrack and obviously the hopper minecart is gonna go underneath this once we have the farm built but for

Now I think we’re just gonna go with this and you could go with something a little bit more robust and you should probably set up something to wall this off whether that’s glass whether it’s nether break whatever material you want but if any ghast comes through and

Decides to fireball this then all of this near the rack is probably going to blow up very easily so you’ll probably want to do something to the walls of the farm first and as you can see I am pretty bad at taking my own advice but I

Also just want to get all of this netherrack out of my inventory first so I’m gonna kit all of these blocks placed in I probably need to go back and get some more but I’ll get some glass at the same time and we’ll add a wall to the

Outside of this as well and much so I want to continue the black and orange color scheme for the glass here as well I feel like that might look a little bit over the top so I’m just gonna go with black glass for the rest of this cool

Thing about black glass by the way you can now get it from all of those with roses because with roses can be crushed down to make black dye I don’t know why you would want to do that considering we’ve made an ink farm a long time ago

In this series but I don’t know maybe you skip the ink farm episode and you just want to use those were the roses for something other than withering all of the mobs in the nether which is fair enough but yeah you can use where the roses much like any

Other flower to make black dye and I didn’t cover that in yesterday’s episode because I feel like we’ve covered that earlier in the series but in case you didn’t know now you know but I tell you what though trading an infinite amount of glass from librarian villages has

Come in very handy unfortunately right now I can’t trade anymore with them because I made the silly decision a couple of episodes ago of pausing the day/night cycle and now my librarians weren’t refreshing if their trades so I’m probably gonna have to unpause that after Halloween fun though it has been

To have this lovely Twilight atmosphere in the overworld anytime on there I kind of feel like I should probably go back to having a proper day/night cycle ok might not look like it because of the clear glass texture I have going on but this is now all completely surrounded in

Glass it will take this little section over here which I’m keeping open so that we can collect anything in the chests that we’re going to but now yeah like I said we’re gonna just cover the rest of this over with netherrack and we can finally get the wither roses into this

First section now when it comes to building the next platform the reason I don’t think we’re going to have enough space is that the wither skeletons to spawn in here you have to have a three block high space because they are three blocked all mobs otherwise they won’t be

Able to spawn in here whatsoever so we are gonna have to make sure there is room for those guys and the next platform is gonna have to be built three blocks up so one two three it’s gonna start there that’s where we’re going to have the minecart rails and then we’ll

Need to build the next platform up on top of that so we are barely gonna be able to squeeze in one last block up there there’s gonna be able to spawn wither skeletons but if you’re at all unsure about that and you wanted to start this floor a couple of blocks down

You could as long as it was inside the range of this bounding box here that might problem of course being that I started the floor with the minecart rail on the absolute bottom block of the farm really so yeah I could probably have moved this down a couple of blocks if I

Thought about that beforehand but I still think if we have one blocks worth of space at the top there it’s like the witch farm remember the witch farm that we built a whole bunch of episodes ago now even if you have a single block that is still within the hitbox of this

Fortress then some stuff is going to be able to spawn there so it’s time to get the where the roses out of the box it’s time to finally plant some of these things and yes they can be planted on netherrack so we are perfectly fine here of course you could

Use other materials for this as well although you probably shouldn’t use soul sand because I don’t think mobs will spawn on soul sand anymore but basically you want to cover every single block every square inch of the farm here needs to be covered and oh gosh that was about

Two despawn on me probably not the best idea every single block in here needs to be covered with a wither rose so you probably want to do it systematically because otherwise as soon as you start walking through this you get a couple of seconds of that wither effect which will

Wear off for you very quickly but anything walking through a giant field of wither roses like this is going to keep the wither Rose effect for as long as they’re standing in a wither os– and thanks to the sort of offset orientation of the flowers on some of these blocks

It does become a little bit difficult to tell whether or not you have placed a flower on every single block but if you miss one or two that’s not a huge problem I guess because the mobs pathfinding should naturally make them wander around inside of here anyway and

I think a lot of mobs may even have a slightly different and slightly faster behavior if they start to take damage they will start to try and move around to escape the source of the damage and obviously that’s not really going to be possible in here when the whole floor is

Covered with with the roses now we’ve got the Sims higher floor covered with where the roses it is a deadly place and we kind of don’t want to be standing around here any longer than we have to so I’m gonna step back into this little cubbyhole I have marked out for myself

Now of course we’re the skeletons as I said earlier are immune to the effects of wither roses so the main thing we need to do when we are sorting out this farm probably around here actually is set up an sort of afk spot for the player not necessarily going to be afk

For this farm but we need to set up an area where the player can stand and lure the wither skeletons in towards you because I’m pretty sure where the skeletons can’t really be lured towards anything else maybe an iron golem might be able to do it or something I’m not

Sure but I don’t think they naturally attack stuff other than the players so this box here is going to be where we’re going to stand we’re going to make sure that we have eye height sight lines towards the wither skeletons that spawn inside of here everything else is going

To die the wither skeletons will remain they will rush towards us here and this is where we’re gonna be able to harvest them for their drops but I’m a little bit curious to see if this field of weather roses is going to spawn mops because I kind of haven’t tested this

Farm too much I’ve never had enough weather roses to really give this type of design a try so I’m gonna head away a little bit I’m gonna bring my camera account in so I can observe the farm while I am at least 23 blocks away from

All of this portable space in here and we’re gonna see if we end up spawning anything it’s not likely that we will simply because there’s so much other stuff spawned in around here already we’ll probably get if anything one or two mobs that will indicate whether or

Not this space is spawning at all but we might as well give it a try okay I’ve got my camera account logged in as you can see this is the farm from above we’re not really gonna be able to do much to see what the spawn rates are in

Here quite yet because there is so much other stuff around but I am going to fly away a little bit to try and despawn some of the stuff that has spawned in this area and then hopefully when we come back we might see a couple of things spawning in that area at least

I’ll try and get a good distance away from the fortress and then fly on back over and see if anything shows up in that area with all the way the roses yes yes it’s happened it’s happened oh my goodness you can kind of see it from here actually the magma cubes in there

Are taking tons of damage thanks to the weathering effect and we have a whole bunch well including an Enderman who apparently just decided to come out and kill me I think I must have looked at him by mistake when I was checking out the farm itself but look at that I’ll

Take a look from the camera account as well we have six wither skeletons already spawned in here and that is purely a coincidence I expect it’s probably not the case that we will be able to do a whole lot with that and rely on that quite yet until we have

Taken down the rest of the fortress but look at that that is not a bad result for our first try here and as you can see they’re not taking any damage with the wither roses at all because they are immune to the effects of the wither rose

Entirely what we can do though as you’ll see is take out any other mobs that end up spawning in here and we have a little bit of magma cream as well so this might be a very low yield passive magma cream farm as if we really needed that at this

Point but any magma cubes that spawn in here are definitely going to get killed by the weather effect but unfortunately that is all we’ve got time for I’m afraid we do have some evidence that this farm is going to be operational but for today I am gonna have to call it

There we will begin a part two of this tomorrow and I can already tell we’re gonna have a lot of fun with this farm but we need to figure out a way of taking out all of the nether fortress around it for it to be most effective
