Is minecraft 1.19 a disappointment The warden will come the l.a wow they’re just completely surrounded in the mangrove swamp it’s just mangroves as far as the eye can see yes the fireflies so you can see them roaming around adding a lot of ambience to the swamp if you were to take a look in the Various places of discussion around this community either the minecraft reddit twitter threads with the developers or a youtuber like myself’s comments section you may notice there is a rather vivid dissatisfaction being expressed towards this so-called wild update now not to be dismissive there is a phenomenon known as the vocal minority a Loud yet small group of individuals who stand out among a crowd when not everyone is talking how do we know who agrees with them who are shouting the loudest in terms of minecraft’s simply massive audience and millions upon millions of players it would be truly impossible to discern the exact amount Of players who share these feelings but i can offer you my subjective experience as a youtuber who makes coverage videos of all the snapshots pre-releases and other updates i’ve noticed a rather large uptick in comments from unhappy players now my videos alone do not speak For the community as a whole but i have seen the same trend on twitter and on reddit too and not everyone will agree with my assessment of this situation and that’s okay we all have our opinions and perspectives and personally i don’t feel the need to complain after all i’ve Owned this game for over 10 years all the updates have been free and although they varied in quality over time overall i think the game has gone in a decent direction our art team is just so amazing it’s such a beautiful concept art and as you can see here the Atmosphere is really different from from the birch forest so what’s wrong with minecraft 1.19 we’re getting a horror-like experience through the warden and ancient cities a new mob that can pick up items and bring them to us a gorgeous mangrove swamp biome has been added with frogs and Tadpoles and a whole bunch of new redstone mechanics through the skulk sensor and vibration system and the cherry on top new light sources and building blocks mud bricks frog lamps and mangrove wood will be a delight to get creative with in this update so what is the problem the community Always asks for biomes blocks mobs and more and we’ve got them in this update so why the dissatisfaction well let me give you my take on the situation first of all we have presentations of the updates at minecraft live or previously minecon we get to see a preview of what The next update will be this obviously builds up hype and gets us excited for the next big update but what failed over the last couple of events is not being able to deliver on these promises what mojang need to understand is what they share will be seen as promises to the Average player and not delivering can be tolerated but we’ve now had a few fumbles in a row so at the last minecon we saw the now cancelled fireflies and the birch forests the theme was the wild and the discussion the developers had gave us the impression that multiple biomes Would be overhauled brought to life and made unique this kind of talk will set players imaginations off with all sorts of ideas they get to fill in the blanks about what this ambiguous notion of a wild update will change and now seven months later we didn’t get any overhaul Biomes just the one new biome the mangrove swamp which by the way looks fantastic in creating an open-ended promise and failing to deliver i think mojang have made the situation worse by shrugging off the lack of a birch forest in this update by saying concept art doesn’t Count as a commitment this is a disservice to the community it puts the onus on the player’s expectations and doesn’t take responsibility for whatever reasons led them to not pursue the changes open communication and transparency is a strength we’re all human things don’t always work out and i Think making everyone aware of the change as early as possible would have been a much smarter move and this all comes off the back of a huge and difficult update that got split into two halves and this has led to 1.19 being jokingly referred to as caves and Cliffs part three given that the warden and deep dark didn’t quite make it into part two it seems that minecraft is going through some growing pains key features have been delayed archaeology has seemingly disappeared and bundles can’t be included for parity reasons as they can’t get them to work on pocket Edition what also feeds into this dissatisfaction are the mob votes presenting a community with unfinished prototypes that they can inject their own expectations into is a recipe for disappointment the mob you dreamed of will always be better than the reality of the one you didn’t vote for and with The community being relatively split on what to vote for you will create more losers than winners and those who win may then change their mind when they see the final product i guess everyone was mesmerized by the golden kid not just the tiny ones no wow since microsoft took over the game’s Development there has been plenty of positives to talk about but it seems that the game’s open development has been leveraged to keep minecraft relevant the release of updates seems to roughly hit key holidays aiming for around two a year before the summer break and then christmas holiday along With this the minecraft live update reveals and the mob of buying votes seemed geared towards creating hype and community discussion in other words to get the community talking about the game again which brings back old players and entices new ones too this certainly started off well the update aquatic Village and pillage fuzzy bees and nether update all well received but then the development couldn’t keep pace with the promises and half of the content of this update was originally planned to be out a year ago now none of this criticism is aimed at any individuals within moyang or Microsoft the reality is i know very little about what it’s like to work for these companies or develop this game it’s all too easy to imagine that game development is simple but this is a game originally built by an amateur programmer in java which is not the First choice for writing games and over the years its code base has undergone many many changes along with this the game is also maintained for multiple platforms pocket edition bedrock and other various consoles with an aim for parity across all additions it must be quite the task to coordinate development Across so many teams of programmers but anyways that is just my perspective on this issue one that i hope will be useful and that’s why i have a simple proposal i think that moving forward for the time being it may just be a good idea to scale back the promises and Update reveals that minecraft live and other events just develop the next update quietly and internally keep things under wrap and show us what’s next when it’s far closer to being complete rolling out a big snapshot out of the blue full of new features to explore and get excited about might even Create more hype than the current method does which would hopefully appease any promotional strategy goals over at microsoft it would also give the community no room for false expectations they would be able to simply experience what’s next hands-on left with no unfulfilled promises and as i said just For the time being this doesn’t have to be the new strategy but i think it’s probably what’s needed next and as for the fireflies the frogs don’t have to eat them right if you didn’t know the reasoning that fireflies have been left out is because some of them Are poisonous to frogs in real life i consider this a bit different to the parrot situation where the player is actively able to feed parrots chocolate from the cookies which would kill them in real life not something we would want to learn from a game but the minecraft Frogs well they don’t have to eat them right just remove that part not the fireflies but anyways if you enjoyed this waffle of mine you know what to do leave a like support the video subscribe if you want to catch more minecraft content like this and of course i’d love To hear your thoughts on my thoughts so leave a comment down
