I’ve been a minecraft player for nearly 10 years and right now as i record this video i am seeing mojang and minecraft face the biggest backlash ever as of when i’m recording this video which is july the 28th both save minecraft and mojang are trending on twitter in This video we’re not only going to be talking about that backlash and why it is so present but we’re also going to be talking about how mao jang is currently attempting to defend itself and its actions with that being said if you are new around here and you want to hashtag Save minecraft be sure you drop this video a like subscribe and with that being said let’s dive right into it So guys this all begins with minecraft 1.19.1 which does introduce a very controversial feature known as the chat report feature what this allows players to do is if you’re playing any version of multiplayer minecraft on java edition whether it be a realm or a server um Both third party and first party you can now report players for messages they put in chat usually this would be left down to the players if they had a disagreement they would just simply stop talking or report it to a server moderator whereas now mojang and microsoft have the direct power and Responsibility to permanently ban players from minecraft multiplayer it’s pretty clear to understand why this feature is so controversial some people like feeling protected by microsoft a big corporation whereas others just do not like them having that access and the power to ban them for life from minecraft multiplayer so let’s talk About this tweet first which did announce the release of this very controversial update slice slime did tweet minecraft java edition 1.19.1 has now been released with a link to an article on minecraft.net this article does state we’re now releasing 1.19.1 for minecraft java edition this release adds ally duplication a new player safety Functionality so as it stated right there there were a few other features added to minecraft in 1.19.1 but the most important we need to talk about is the player chat report feature this as i said earlier gives microsoft the power and responsibility to ban players for life i believe at least from Minecraft multiplayer this can be for anything from um even if you just say like an offensive word or act um suspiciously towards younger players anything like that we’re not really sure at the moment how it will fully work but we assume that any of this could get you Banned it has been tested in the past and originally people did believe you could even get banned for using curse words whereas no it seems that is not the case however one thing is for certain if you’re a player on minecraft multiplayer especially an adult that should be allowed to Say simple curse words or anything like that um this now makes you feel like you’re treading on very thin ice as i said in the past this will not affect me so i struggle to understand the severity of the situation however i know many other people that do enjoy minecraft multiplayer and playing On servers and i just um like i’m really upset to think what could happen to them if they got in a disagreement with someone and they decided to falsely report them in an attempt to get them banned just in case you’re curious how this works imagine i Put a message in chat saying like minecraft a player that could then click on that message and then report it for a number of different offenses then this will be sent to a minecraft moderator where they will then have the power to um take action on this um comment in Chat as i stated this can be a very minor or can range all the way up to getting banned in response to this a very big minecraft content creator known as ant venom did tweet out this welp 1.19.1 is out minecraft chat reporting is now a thing if mojang Thinks that every skilled coder who is against this system won’t try and embrace them by breaking this system i would bet against mojang not a threat by the way just calling it like it is hashtag save minecraft now as i said earlier as when i’m recording this hashtag save minecraft and hashtag Mojang are both trending and unfortunately it is for all of the wrong reasons funnily enough also as of when i’m recording this video mario kart is also trending so it’s just funny to see one game trending for the right reasons and then one game and mojang trending for All the wrong reasons and venom did also then go on to say i’m working on a video about this but i gotta be honest the whole process of covering these major problems at microsoft force onto minecraft is really driving me away from this game i want to make more fun Content not this but this is clearly too important to ignore and that’s exactly how i feel all of these silly changes are really beginning to upset me as a long-time minecraft player i started making content on this game because i fell back in love with it thanks to the Nether update unfortunately though it seems that since then minecraft has been on a steady decline and this recent decision does just show massive incompetence and like almost kind of a lack of trust with the minecraft community it’s very upsetting to see minecraft build up all this love for the game and Build up all these new fans and this new community to then just destroy it years later but as venom did say unfortunately this is too important not to cover now we’ve got one more thing to go over from someone called stuart duncan who is the creator of ortcraft who seems to be defending Very heavily this chat report feature so let’s take a look at this this was tweeted java’s minecraft chat reporting is officially here now that 1.19.1 has been released amongst the hysteria and misinformation let’s share something that is truly scary reasons why is that in fact needed and Asked for now let’s move on to this tweet a small case study involving three minecraft servers found that 35 of violations involved harassment and i’m gonna not show the others and that’s almost a fifth of violators were repeat offenders now this doesn’t make sense at first on the surface level it does um Make sense that mao jang would want to lower this number because 35 percent is a big number and if 35 percent of the violations include those things talked about that is very bad and the fact that almost a fifth of violators were repeat offenders is also very bad so on the Surface level it does make sense that this chat report feature would help to catch these individuals out and as i said in my previous video if mojang could just flip a switch and catch out all these hateful horrible individuals and ban them for life from minecraft i Would be so heavily in favor of that however this will affect the innocent people as well and it will affect everyone whether they do things bad or not it will affect everyone and unfortunately it will affect them for the worst people have also been meaning on this statement because this is a Small case study involving free minecraft servers this is not a big number by any means people have joked about me mentioning polls in my videos before with thousands of votes however a case study with three minecraft servers is almost kind of a joke and although the numbers are still Big and we should not ignore this just because it’s a small case study it does go to show that this feature may not be as all helpful or useful as they originally thought but it seems that right now we have mojang defenders desperately trying to address the situation and then there’s the community Which is just hugely let down and disappointed by this change as i said for me i feel kind of guilty because this will not affect me so i’ve kind of failed to empathize with players however i do have to realize that there are millions of people that play multiplayer Minecraft that could potentially be affected by this so if you would like to make a change comment down below in the comment section save minecraft and hopefully we can make a change everyone drop this video like subscribe if you are new thank you for watching and goodbye you Video Information
