Hey there I’m Lady Edith welcome back to Minecraft after getting a very basic start in episode one I wanted to focus on Gathering resources to build a house next I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to build for my starter house but I knew I was going to need to find more than Just Oak jungle and Birchwood I had picked this seed specifically using the cedar app which I’ll link in the description Cedar is a great complement to chunk base you can put in the biomes and structures you want to have close to spawn and then search for the seeds that might work In this kind of single player survival environment I have no problem using the seed map to help point me in the right direction for specific biomes or to find a village I keep things like the stronghold locations and other structures turned off so that I don’t spoil finding those for myself Looking at the seed map I knew that there were other materials around that I wanted and I just needed to go a bit further away to find so I focused on Gathering wooden saplings for Spruce dark oak and Acacia I also kept digging underground to build up an inventory of Stone I also found some diamonds along the way since I had to pass through the village and respond to get to the Savannah I snatched up to unsuspecting villagers with my boat and set them up in a safe little spot at my base until I need them I also gathered sheep but a creeper came along and he had other plans I had started building a sort of cottage style house but eventually I realized I wasn’t happy with how it was going there was something off with the proportions I took it all down off camera rather Than forced myself to struggle to make it work and I think there’s a valuable lesson there this game isn’t one of permanence everything can be altered and bent to our vision as players and in the blink of a creeper’s eye we can lose our levels and gear and have to start all over This idea of impermanence should also apply to the changes we’ve made to the world and the things we’ve already created when something we built doesn’t work or isn’t accomplishing what we need it’s okay to stop backtrack and try again even this early in the game it’s honestly better to intentionally set Ourselves back rather than to have the setback force on us down the road so once I had a clean slate again I decided to go a completely different route with my starter house I started with the front approach to a rectangular building using gravel and Stone brick and adding in an oak step I built out a foundation that would allow me to create a deck overlooking the Cove off the back for the exterior walls on the first floor I used Spruce and Acacia trap doors to form the walls which let me Mimic the look of paneling and screens I used mizuno’s stacked slab feature and combined jungle slabs to create this parquet style floor inside I’m not new to building in Minecraft’s version of Asian style but I’m also not an expert in real world Japanese architecture I have tended to stick to Somewhat stereotypical older Styles based on larger buildings like castles pagodas and shrines I know that there are other styles out there so I did some research watched some other YouTubers videos who do the Japanese style buildings started to Envision what my version of the last grandiose Japanese Town might be and I Got excited by the possibilities I adjusted the floor inside to move the Hearth and swapped out the wood for Cobblestone to make this portion of the house more clearly the kitchen for the second story of the house I used stacked Birch slabs to create white vertical plank walls I loved the Contrast with the darker colors below and I plan to continue playing with this Black and White theme as I continue to expand I added in a railing on the deck and I used deep slate brick slabs to form the lower roof forming an awning over the front and the back Or rearranged the stairs and I used more trap doors to wrap around the staircase which closed the inside space in more making it much Cozier the final step for the build was to get the roof on I used unstripped Spruce to form the end walled triangles I’m sure That there’s a word for it I just can’t think of what it is and then I used Spruce trapdoors and Oak gates to create the look of open shutters that were allowing air to circulate up and out I also added a row of Acacia trapdoors just to form more detail and depth to This part the roof was made from more deep slate brick slabs and stairs the gradually increasing slope created by transitioning from the slabs to the stairs forms that recognizable Japanese roofline I also did more work on the ground adding in Pathways I’ve noticed in many older Japanese towns that there are Often gutters that run along the street so I added those with stairs and a little Oak trap door plank to make it easy to step over to the house I also used the very little bit of iron I had to create lanterns I’ve got an idea for fancier lanterns to add to the Top but those will need to wait till they have the correct materials lastly I’ve moved my bed inside to officially call this building home there’s a lot more that can be done to the interior to finish it off and add more design touches inside and out but This structure being built means it will be easier to stay safe as I continued to settle in so this will do for now thanks for watching and I’ll catch you on the next one All right Video Information
