Minecraft Preview 1.20.50.23 – What’s New?! – Changes to New Block Textures! Refreshed Interface?!
In this week’s update, Minecraft introduces a pretty cool PREVIEW/BETA version 1.20.50.23, focusing mainly on improving the experiences related to the new blocks that were introduced in last week’s 1.21 update! Are you excited? Let us know in the comments!
New Block Textures from the 1.21 Update
One of the notable changes in this update is the updated textures of the new blocks from the 1.21 update. The crafting table, for example, now has fewer iron inserts on the sides and bottom. However, many players feel that the old texture looked much better and should have been kept. The old texture allowed for the easy creation of a symbol that had negative connotations, which is likely why the appearance of the crafting table was changed.
The window and handle of copper doors have also been shifted one pixel down. This change applies to doors in all stages of oxidation. The item form of copper doors also received a new texture, with the handle now matching the one found on the block form. Additionally, copper blocks now have a few darker pixels, giving them a more three-dimensional look.
Improvements to Tuff Crafts
Tuff blocks have undergone some changes as well. The texture of the new bricks has been rotated 180 degrees, as it was previously upside down, causing the mortar joints to not align with other bricks. Tuff blocks can now be crafted into walls, stairs, and slabs in the standard crafting pattern. By combining two tuff slabs in a specific arrangement, players can create chiseled tuff. Smooth tuff, on the other hand, can be crafted using four tuff blocks, allowing players to create tuff bricks and other decorative blocks.
Enhancements to Copper Crafts
Several improvements have been made to copper crafts. A recipe for crafting copper blocks has been added, allowing players to create copper blocks from two copper slabs in the crafting table. Wax-coated copper blocks, waxed copper stairs, and waxed copper slabs can now be crafted at each level of oxidation. Additionally, waxed copper blocks and copper blocks can be obtained using the /give command. The crafting recipe for copper blocks has also been fixed, ensuring that it is saved when leaving and reloading the world.
New Features and Interface Changes
Aside from block changes, there are also some new features and interface changes in this update. The Redstone signal emitted by a lit copper lamp connected to a comparator is now at level 15, regardless of the lamp’s oxidation level. Chorus fruit can now be knocked down with any projectile, and the projectile itself no longer disappears upon collision with the fruit.
The world creation menu and several other tabs have received a new look. However, this new interface is only available to some players. The new interface includes a new game mode selection tab, where each mode is accompanied by a short description and pixel art. The same applies to the new difficulty level selection tab. There is also a new player profile settings tab, which presents a visually appealing layout. Additionally, several new options related to adding new friends have been introduced.
Other Changes and Summary
Other changes in this update include the reintroduction of calcite in Creative mode and the ability to obtain it using the /give command. The speed reduction when touching the ground while flying has been fixed. The chance of a damaged exported world file has been significantly reduced. The quick select/hotbar is now less transparent. The Pocket UI now darkens when using certain crafting tables and when hovering over the creator tab in the settings. Overall, this update mainly focuses on improvements and tweaks to the new features introduced in the previous week’s update.
