The Minecraft Marketplace love it or hate it it is a fantastic source of revenue for Mojang but in today’s video in today’s video I’m gonna be proposing something that gonna be proposing something had in the back of my head for a while if the Minecraft Marketplace is so successful on Bedrock Edition then why doesn’t Mojang open one for Java now I know you’re thinking the reason is is that there are simply just not enough map creators to work on Java Edition projects but what if I told you there is Behold Planet Minecraft a Minecraft maps website Hosting such classics like the dropper and Skyblock a couple of days ago I was looking through their massive library of free maps and I found one that caught my eye Five Nights at Freddy’s recreated in Minecraft interested I download and played the map and I was blown away It must have taken months to make it the map had interactable menus and the controls were 1 to 1 with the original if I had play the original with keyboard controls instead of a mouse and the custom made models were better than anything I’d ever seen on the Bedrock Marketplace before I searched around some more and I found another map by different creator called No Hibernation Beta its gameplay was fantastic with all the custom models and high quality sound effects it is very obvious that this map had been in the makings for over a year and the creators are still updating the map It even has a check for updates but in the lobby now I have no idea how that works but apparently it does this map is better than perhaps anything you could buy on say the Bedrock Marketplace these maps with custom textures and models and that probably took months to make I like to call ultra high quality maps now if you told me Mojang released an official Minecraft DLC map and no hibernation was it I probably would have believed you in fact I would have paid money to download these maps but instead the creators released them for free why would they do this If the maps take so long to create then why would they be free the Minecraft ULA of course prohibited you from selling Minecraft map downloads but even if it did allow it it would still be decently difficult for map creators to advertise the maps To people who would actually be willing to buy them as no big Minecraft map website allows you to buy and sell maps so these creators I mentioned are surviving off donations and sponsorships alone spending countless hours making these high quality maps that I would pay for I’m not sure how much these creators are making purely off audience donations and support who knows they could be millionaires but here’s my proposal to Mojang Mojang should find more maps like no hibernation and FNAF recreated Minecraft and get in touch with the creators and convince them to take their maps Off Planet Minecraft and use them to launch the new Java Minecraft Marketplace where these creators can make a full time job through just a couple thousand downloads but instead a couple hundred thousand with a couple thousand more on the demo which I will get to in a bit Now now before you go into the comment section and start hating on me for giving the Mojang employees the idea to make all Minecraft Java maps cost money but hear me out making a Minecraft map takes an incredible amount of time and patience all for the risk of it being released on planet Minecraft just to get zero downloads and even if it did go viral the creator still wouldn’t make a dime unless they have a way for them to make money off fan donations and it’s been like this for 10 years should a Java Minecraft Marketplace launch like this there are still tons of maps That Mojang would not have acquired and the Minecraft Java Marketplace would simply be releasing premium maps that had a lot more work and effort put into them plus a Minecraft Java Marketplace would be a great chance for Mojang to correct their mistakes with the bedrock version if Mojang does this Here’s what I would envision it to look like I suspect it should be invite only as on the bedrock version anyone can go onto the Minecraft.net website and apply to get their map shown Mojang can partner with websites like Planet Minecraft to find only the ultra high quality creators to join To ensure that all the content there is worth your while with all the other free content around and also to keep the catalogue small so that only the best make it on my next proposal is free content and demos I believe that should this launch All maps on the Java Marketplace should have a demo which is a limited version of the full map for example only the first level would be unlocked or only a part of the map is accessible this is to help people get an understanding of what they are buying Before they actually spend any money this would greatly improve people’s experience on the marketplace as well as this it also gives people who don’t wanna buy any maps using money are used for this new marketplace feature and I believe Mojang should also allocate some money for free content to pay these map creators To create Minecraft maps that are free for everyone but still hosted on the marketplace as to promote it and let players know that this is different from bedrock as if they’re getting created so used to make maps for free there should still be a couple of maps on there For people who don’t wanna spend any more money than they did purchasing Minecraft now a lot of you are probably rushing to the comment sections telling me that this is a terrible idea to have Java Minecraft maps locked behind a paywall and I agree with you but the thing is with Minecraft success I think Mojang doing this will be inevitable and that this is just simply a best case scenario what’s your thoughts on this comment them down below I would love to hear your opinions like and subscribe while you’re down there and YouTube thinks you’ll like this video right here So go on give it Double T a amazing team of map creators, shared their thoughts on the idea of adding a Java Marketplace.
“What about the independence and creative freedom of creators if the market is managed by Mojang and no longer by platforms such as Minecraftmaps, Planetminecraft, etc.? The interesting thing is that it could give more visibility to the map creator and even give a boost to this branch of the Minecraft community and could even provide a monetization system for these projects. In itself, it’s a good idea that would give life to a new era of Minecraft Java maps, but it would raise questions about the creative independence of projects and how Mojang could moderate this.” -Double T
