Lapis Kingdom Gaming – Minecraft 1.16 Building : Episode 13 : Let’s build the mage tower (pt. 1)!

Greetings builder and welcome back to the lapis kingdom i am the blue regent and in case you didn’t notice there is something a little different about today’s episode that’s right we’ve got some background music playing and that is going to be a permanent addition to the channel which i’m pretty excited about this

Music has been created by a good friend of mine who goes by the name of aques and he was nice enough to let me use this in the background of the episodes today we’re going to be working on the mage tower i’m super excited about this

Build and i have a feeling that it’s ultimately going to end up looking super cool especially with the expanded base due to it digging so far down into the cliff face so if you’re ready grab your work boots grab your tools and let’s get started before we start building something

That’s going to need to happen is we’re going to have to start cooking up some of this cobblestone to get it going for making smooth stones so that we can make some stone bricks stone bricks are going to be huge in this build because they are going to be one of the

Main components in building the base so the main thing that we’re going for here is the base of this is going to have stone bricks starting at the white line going all the way down to the ground level getting the scaffolding going and having it available has been a massive

Quality of life improvement for me when it comes to these builds especially with something as tall as this project is now that i have this ring of stone bricks put on the next goal is to basically just start working our way down to where there are end points

So now that the base is all drawn down the next step that i’m going to do is i’m going to work my way up the first step of working my way up is going to be a little bit of a step backwards so on every spot where i have these two

Blocks i’m actually going to be taking out the outside most one and i’m going to replace this wool block with cobblestone Once i’ve finished that the next thing i’m going to do is essentially just make a pyramid shape on the largest face of the tower so essentially what i’m doing is i’m creating a step up with each block in this probably seems kind of funky right

Now but it will make sense in a little bit i promise gotta keep all my cobblestone cooking going from here starting at this lowest block what i’m doing is i think i’m just going to throw a stone brick stair at each height increase oops not like that though not upside down

Like this so let’s see let’s back up and see what that looks like hmm i think i like that yeah i think i like that but i think i want to bring this height up one so i think i’m actually this is this is like classic building i

Think i’m actually gonna bring this level up one so i think i’m gonna start my we’re gonna do this like this and then bring that up one So yeah i think i’m just gonna bring this whole concept up one level so that would put that over the doorway i like that that’ll get that uh this would give this a a sturdier looking doorway so i think i think i do like this idea a little bit better

Yeah okay yeah i think that’s i know it’s like a real subtle change but i think that’s how i want that to be it just brings it up a little bit higher let’s look at it from back here it just brings it up a little bit higher

And that’s how i want that to work yep yep it’s just it could because right now if you think about it the scaffolding is at the level that the wool was and so when i add stairs to this it’s just gonna go up that much higher increasing this feeling of this foundation

Helping support the overall size and weight of this tower so yeah back to the original plan i’m gonna throw these stairs on here yeah i like that i like that shape a lot and i like that i can even apply it to the doorway and make it look like it works here as

Well okay i like that although i think i want to maybe in these two places widen this section if that makes sense so these two two block sections will become a three block section and i think i want to bring it up a little bit more so i want to try

Something let’s try it Okay and then i think i want to try one stair here one stair there so this spot right here i’ll just kind of peek out a little bit and it widens this here to make it look like there’s just a little bit extra muscle i guess so it looks less cylindrical now

At the base however it also looks like broader and stronger so i don’t know i think i’m gonna keep it though i think i am i think i think this is how this is gonna look so maybe maybe the foundation of this will just end up looking a little more square

But again if i’m going to be adding at least one more layer oh if i’m going to be adding at least one more layer of foundation for like that lower part maybe it might get its roundness back over time now i wonder if i brought this face out a little bit let me

Try something here what if i did like This kind of thing and then brought that down and it’s kind of like a diamond shape element to it so it’s instead of this being like a square if we were going to look at it top down you’d have more of like a diamond thing going on kind of

I like that it’s uh it’s weird but i like it from this distance the stair kind of disappears just because of the angle that i’m looking at it at however i i i think i wanna i still think i want to keep that it’s kind of like a spine that goes

Straight up in so i think that’s gonna stay from this angle where i can see two two of the fronts i like this like spine i guess you could call this coming down and then also that kind of like recessed brick back there so yeah i like what this is doing so the

Last thing i think i want to do with the stone brick for now is i think i want to do a little bit more embellishing i guess that’s the word to use and i think this bottom row of this pyramid i think i want to

Look at this kind of thing that kind of just thickens up that front piece and i don’t think i like that but i think the solution to that is basically doing the same thing two down two again we’ve got one two there i think that kind of helps round out a little bit

Generally these probably aren’t going to stick out this high above the ground really this this is where it cuts off right here so all of this stuff down here is really only something that i’m working with because of how it’s coming up out of the mountain

That being said i like this i like this as an initial foundation piece as i’m working on this the next step is gonna be we’re gonna go polished andesite and i’m probably not going to just rely on polish on the site however that’s what we’re going to start with and what’ll probably happen

Is i’ll i’ll build up this polished andesite and this will kind of help me figure out how everything else is going to work out and so i’m gonna build this up just kind of going around the perimeter here figuring out where the polished andesite starts

Am i a hundred percent sure how high the polishing decide is gonna go yet no will we figure that out as we go yes so let’s see this gets polished endocyte we’re just gonna start climbing now in an area like this i think i won’t start the polished andesite

Until i get to where the dirt is essentially implying that it’s basically fashioned into the stone or set on top of it basically using some sort of masonry they’ve set this workstone onto a flattened surface in here so basically like that so now we’re starting to catch up with the rest of

These rows so we’re working our way up so we’re getting close to the top here so now it’s kind of time to start thinking about you know where i’m going to want to cut this off also i’ve used more andesite today i think than i’ve ever used

At any time so this i don’t mind but i kind of want to see the other side where there’s going to be even more exposed yeah that is that’s a lot of definitely think i want to go up one more layer i don’t hate that i just

Don’t quite know what to do along the top let’s get another angle now i could mimic this down here but then that feels a little repetitive i can also maybe bring this in and go like the other direction maybe i’ll do that basically making let’s see where’s a better angle

Basically making this point where there’s like the little pokey audi part the peak and kind of go down towards this middle area and then back up well i definitely know i want to break these colors up that’s that’s definitely step number one okay so i’ve been doing some work off camera

Because this is kind of this is kind of intense um and i replaced essentially this column and this column with smooth stone and then what i started to do was kind of like bring it down towards the middle so that i’m almost doing the opposite of what’s happening

Up top and i kind of started to like that a little bit so then over here on this side i added some stairs and slabs to get a little bit of variation and and this i like the direction that this is going i think i’m going to do the same thing

On this side so i’ll fix these two i like it it’s not finished however i i like it it’s um it’s it’s doing it’s doing something i don’t know what i would call it but it’s definitely doing something let me make all the other sides do this

So that wasn’t actually as bad as i thought because apparently i was mostly done i i keep forgetting that this side over here this northeast side has a ton of dirt on it so i’m going to actually kind of go through and patch up some of these dirt areas

Like this i think to make it look a little bit more like the foundation is buried Maybe we’ll just kind of trace this so we kind of brought the dirt back up a little bit in here and i believe there are a couple spots that yeah just need some brief attention okay is this weird yeah it’s kind of weird uh does it

Look like it should be able to stand up that tall i think so is it done no i think it’s getting close though this is um man this is this is this this is kind of crazy it kind of has um kind of has a little bit of a

Like empire state building feel to it you know i i knew that this was gonna get big at the bottom but i wasn’t quite sure how big it was gonna get and so i’d be a liar if i said that i wasn’t a little surprised right now

But i like what this is doing and and what this is really going to make me do is it’s really going to make me embellish this up here because this this can’t be dull and then have all this madness going on down here and and really realistically at this point

This needs to be taller i think unless we just kind of treat this like this is this is part of this tower which it could i mean we could do that we could have it be that all of these are always sticking out of like outcroppings

Actually i really like that idea kind of like kind of like playing off the old do you remember this is a this is this might well i guess they’d still do this in malls they always used to have like those weird little kiosks where it was like pewter castles and

Pewter wizards and pewter dragons i used to be obsessed with those and there was always like a like a a way too skinny a tower just like like hanging out on top of like a weird outcropping and this kind of has that vibe and so just because the door is gonna be

On this level doesn’t mean that this whole thing isn’t the tower the longer i look at this the more i really start to love this thing this just bizarre bizarre structure i’ve built it’s super weird it’s it’s getting there it’s getting there this is one of those things where this is like the

Opposite of carving stone the opposite of carving anything i’m basically just continuously putting layers on until it looks right for almost two where i can say i completely like this base i am a huge fan of the right the direction this is headed though so i’m gonna keep working at it and

I will not let myself get defeated by this this build this officially the hands down biggest thing i’ve ever built in minecraft i mean i’ve i’ve tried to build castles before and i’ve completely seen now why i lost interest this is this is this is a big one

For sure so diverting from the foundation here for a little bit this is something i’m trying to break up the monotony of all the cobblestone in the body of the tower i’m trying out playing with using these polished andesite blocks on all of the hard corners we’ll call them i know they’re

Not corners but these kind of like sharp points so i think i’m going to replace this one too and then kind of start working my way around the tower replacing all these sharp parts with polished antisight blocks Oh yeah that definitely breaks that up a lot it breaks up the repeating pattern of the cobblestone and if any block has a very rapidly repeating pattern it’s cobblestone in my opinion having these blocks on these sharp edges helps break that up a lot and also

It makes it feel even more like a tower than before now i still have these two across spots where it’s all cobblestone and so something’s probably going to be put in there to help break that up more but this is making it feel even more It just makes it feel even more like a tower and now we’re getting a little bit more Unification because we’ve got the polished endocyte down here we have the polish underside up there we have the cobblestone up there we’ve got some cobblestone going on down here which i added this is just cobblestone walls acting as like kind of buttresses i guess they’re not quite buttresses because they don’t come

Way out but it’s just a little bit more definition and now i’ve kind of got this repeating diamond shape going on so i’ve got like a diamond here and i have a diamond in here and i know what i’m going to be doing for the roof when we get to that point

And so there’s actually going to be one more diamond shape that happens in here so we kind of have these repeating diamond elements going on as the tower goes up and continues to have its overall circular shape so you kind of have like a circular shape these nice lines nice vertical lines and

Then also all of these kind of like little diamonds worked in as far as when you look at it from a particular side that is going to be it for today this video is already running kind of long and i’ve got to be honest with you

I’m pretty worn out from working on this tower um it’s a lot of work and it’s really coming along but i need a little bit of time to kind of rest and recover from it so that just means that the next building episode we’re going to finish decorating the middle slash body

Of the tower we’re going to put the top on it and then we’re going to build and decorate the inside as well i look forward to seeing you next time in the lapis kingdom have a great day
