Always felt like the server’s I was playing did 100% satisfy me therefore I tried to make it better what would you say is your most knowledgeable feel than the server community setting up a dedicated server setting up factions etcetera etcetera definitely surviving minecraft I love coming up with cool and unique features

The fittest survival theme it’s what I’ve been doing for a long time and it’s what I enjoy the most at least knowledgeable field would be system administration it’s one of those things I still struggle with at times when I first started making servers setting up the backends such as the

Dedicated server firewalls pretty much all the system administration work are really hard for me I didn’t understand a single thing about them and they always needed help from an external source to set it up for me even to this day I often struggle with some things and hire

People to help me out but I’m constantly trying to learn more about every single factory related to Minecraft servers when considering advertising techniques which to choose and sort of why there are multiple ways of advertising your minecraft server I should mention that only a handful of methods really work

Well though the most popular way of advertising these days is simply by hiring a youtuber or a streamer to play on your server quite frankly I don’t agree with that while hiring a youtuber and a streamer significantly rage a player account and store revenue I don’t feel like those players come to

The server because they like it they come because they want to play with their favorite youtuber and eventually when the contract ends your player account and store revenue will drop for me personally I’ve always used advertisement slots on minecraft boat sites a lot of those vote sites rent out

A small area at the top of their website for you to place your banner and while this is often very expensive I felt like it always worked well from growing your discord server and drop an occasional hat to everyone tag also increases your player account by quite a lot as long as

You don’t spam it every day I’ve also tried multiple other techniques such as posting on minecraft forums but I feel like this is not really worth the time and what would you say to newer people who are just learning about servers and sort of wanting to get into the

Community but don’t know too much but a lot of people don’t understand is the time and effort managing a server takes as your servers are usually running 24 hours a day it’s very likely that your server will run into some kind of issue while you’re busy with other stuff when

This happens you’d have to drop everything you’re doing and get on certain that issue a set a lot of people might be counting on you and I would want to play on their favorite server besides that I also feel like a lot of people underestimate how expensive it is

To run a server professionally when you’re looking at the top servers they easily pay thousands of dollars every month to make sure the server has no bugs and is running at the smoothly 24/7 my top 5 tips for new server owners would be one don’t be afraid of failing

Keep trying and eventually you’ll be fine second don’t be afraid to ask for help there is no way you’ll be able to do it all by yourself third don’t start a server if you’re purely doing it to gain revenue only start a server if you genuinely want to

Create a fun place for people to enjoy fourth treat your community well don’t blame them if something isn’t going how you want to be always blame yourself finally make frequent backups nobody wants to lose their progress because you made a silly mistake what are some of the ups

And downs of owning a large server the biggest up I ever had was reaching 300 online players on one of my servers it gave me a huge personal boost and there is no better feeling to see that so many people are enjoying what you created besides that I’m super thankful

That I was able to turn this into a full-time job to make enough money to sustain my needs for me personally one of the downsides would be the fact that anything could go wrong at any time of day you really have no control or when your server crashes or anything else

Like that another downside would be that you often have to deal with trauma regarding two or more players that ran into a fight or something sometimes they get mad at you while you’re just trying to resolve the issue but over the years I learned not to take it too personal if

Have a decent amount experience in wrong ways and right ways to do this I’ve personally had very bad experiences with hiring staff that weren’t a part of my server until the day I hired them like external managers for example I’m part of the old generation where I believe

That people who actually know and play the server’s very frequently are the best staff members there is one exception though developers artists and system administrators are usually hired from an external source as not many players are capable of doing such things on a professional scale now I got a
