Hello lovely people welcome to the geek cupboard I’m penge and welcome to mind over magic a game where we get to build our very own magic school which all sounds very fantastic indeed so we get to place the rooms and choose the teachers and train up the students think

Hogwarts I suppose big school cassily plays full of lots of student Wizards learning all about magicy stuff it’s a bit like that and also a little bit like Hogwarts there is evil to deal with oh that wouldn’t like Hogwarts this evil isn’t that big baldy wizard guy with no

Nose cast and green magic at everybody it’s some sort of terrible creatures in the basement to the school so we have to train everybody up in the school to go on Trials to defeat the horrors in the underscore that’s what the game is all about now this is the demo of the game

Which is available right now as I record this it’s part of the steam nextfest event going on at the moment and as always there is a link to the steam store Page in the video description where you can check the game out and play the demo if you would like to but

Anyway let’s get on with it shall we we’ve got magic to teach if you are reading this you are on fortunate indeed wonderful off to a great start then marvelous each day the fog spreads afflict in the minds of our young Mages we hope the school could stand as a

So we’ve got to go and Fight The Dread have we I could yep that sounds fine let’s go and build a school and fight some terrible beasties okay here we go and there’s already a magical wibbly thing oh people are coming through the magical wibbly thing it’s like a portal

So there’s Amy Amy appears to be a wolf person which is wonderful and then we’ve got Brandon and then we’ve got Cassie okay right so three people have come through that thing that’s a student seminar okay that makes perfect sense so that’s how people get into the school

Through that kind of portly thing they’re okay wonderful there’s a ladder there I shouldn’t goes up to the school does it can we zoom out and have a look uh no I assume entirely incorrectly that leads up to a whole load of nothing okay so we’ve got a room over there that’s

Where all the students are hanging out and then we’ve got a very ominous looking kind of Cavern thing and then another Cavern thing and that’s kind of it okay so what do we do now there is a very obvious exclamation mark thing there send the students to an underscore trial

Okay do we do that with that thing then the araculum send the students to an underscore trial okay so is that the first thing we have to do this room’s quite exciting look at that it’s a big kind of thing on the wall there showing a lot of people fighting a great big

Kind of insect monster type thing possibly and then the students just kind of wandering about the place hang on a second hang on hang on Brandon what are you are you like a scarecrow you look wonderful Brandon is wonderful you’re like a sort of a scarecrow person the

Vivified a race a former quilted servants who somehow gain sentience nobody knows how we’ll eat just about anything hang on a former quilted so and so you were once like soft furnishings and then you came to life so you weren’t a cushion or something okay that’s wonderful Brandon I like you you’re very

Exciting indeed can we look at the other ones so hang on so you Amy you’re a wolfkin wolf-like creatures that will eat wild animals whole or sleep just about anywhere okay so you’re like a wolf person okay right so your sleep requirements are going to be less your

Food requirements was it hang on we’ll eat just about anything okay so they’ll sleep anywhere they’ll eat anything and then we’ve got Cassie who is a boring old human humans with magical talent and a human Wizards have extended life spans okay so they live a little bit longer

Okay this is wonderful they’ve got hunger sleep Recreation sanity levels okay magic is this what they can do I guess a Cassie the human is fully trained so they’ve got a bit of fire a bit of water nature earth and lightning magic chick but they’re very good at

Dark magic and they’re very good at air magic okay that’s quite exciting so Brandon at the top there so Brandon’s good at water and Earth Magic and Amy is good at Earth and air magic okay so a decent range of sort of your different magical disciplines that’s quite exciting

Um combat what does that mean okay so hit points mana and slice okay I don’t know what that does an attack is like a spell they know possibly social okay Brandon is positive okay that’s good I like that Amy is positive and oh no hang on they’ve got a

Positive sort of like of each other is that what that means I could yeah so Amy and Brandon are getting on then Cass is just sort of there Milling around at the minute and maybe at some point she’ll become buddies with these two and then tasks they’re just kind of wandering

About okay okay so how do we send them on an underscore trial then do we click that slightly terrifying looking thing ah there there we go reveals new chambers of the underscore students must explore the underscore and pass a trial to graduate oh okay so we’re not actually at the

School this is the graduating bid okay I see so we must be doing the first trial or something just eases into the game a little bit okay right so we’ll see the school later and then when we have a load of students ready to go on a trial

We’ll train them up enough they come down here and do the trial okie doke right so this is the underscore part of the game okay uh start trial I suppose let’s go and do that shall we okay borrow a lot of us lair the level one

Underlord Okay so we’ve got to go and fight whatever that is like a giant kind of yeah like a big worm type thing bring supplies select potions and healing reagors okay we can’t do that um we can bring seven student we can bring we can bring many students okay we

Can bring a lot of people we don’t have them oh they’re reserves okay hang on so did we just drag you up there okay wonderful so you three go and have a bit of a fight please you go and do that why is that like that fortify hp5 has got

Blue arrows on it um well hang on is that fortifying the HP of the people on either side of them would it make more sense yes look oh that’s quite exciting so it depends where they go in this order so because Brandon is in the middle he can give

Five hit points to Amy on that side and Cassie on that side oh well done Brandon you’re a wonderful cushion person you um okay let’s begin let’s go okay right the thing has come out araculum has popped out there’s a there’s a red thing

Um okay and now we go over here okay the doors open everybody uh now what do we do oh okay underscore trial when students undergo a trial they must battle a series of monsters in an attempt to defeat a powerful Underlord you cannot assist them they will survive

Or die based on their training if you’ve taught them well they will be victorious if not well it’s better not to think about it what if we haven’t taught them at all because they’ve just popped into this but underground and we don’t really know what’s happening what about that

Game your job is selecting the students place them in the best order and equip them there if they need to be successful once students have begin the trial their fate is in their own hands okay kinda dark but here we go okay so there they are oh oh there’s some beasties there’s

Some monsters oh they’re quite horrible aren’t they a drowned one and a belcher okay oh you’ve got a okay Brett things are happening things are happening hang on hang on hang on hang on hang on what does that say okay hang on a minute is space bar pause yes I can

Happily confirm that spacebar is pause I hadn’t seen little kind of time slider thing down here but look there’s time controls and spacebar is pause wonderful like hang on so she’s cast a shield she’s got a little kind of invisible shield in front of her and I think they

Are fighting yes the drowned one did something to us but then yeah did the Belcher attack as well and now Brandon is casting Slam at the Belcher which is that thing there okay so see that oh that was very impressive oh and the belcher’s gone the Belcher is down and

That thing’s down as well okay the drown one has fallen over and now they just go on their merry way okay into the next room then oh there we go yes a shield they cast a shield and they’ve cast armor so they’ve got a bit of armor to

Protect them and they’ve got their shield and we’re beating up this gun yeah the burrower lava thing we’re just attacking that thing so you’re sort of hitting it with air magic oh you’ve just been hit by a horrible sort of Fireball thing you took kind of your rock things

At it that’s quite exciting you’re doing another kind of air strike at it you’re doing wibbly tentacles okay oh that slows it down ah right okay another kind of air strike error they go you take some damage so you’ve got four hit points left and now you’ve got no hit

Points left okay so oh okay they’re regenerating teleporting stuff is happening not quite sure what’s going on but okay so they come back over here so then that’s now done so those two bodies they’re just lying around they’ve been defeated that thing’s been defeated I don’t know what that is over there some

Sort of I don’t know a bit of I don’t know masonry or something exciting is falling in over there um complete trial okay so that’s done uh oh they’re up here oh they’ve gone up the ladder they’ve gone up the ladder and then now over here near the Mana font

And the ah the book of dread okay wonderful so they’re just sort of waiting here okay so let’s complete your trial then because that’s what we have to go and do I assume so you’ve gone and completed your trial oh the books kind of um the book is sort of uh like alive

It’s got no in the front and it’s sort of wiggling about and stuff is that the book we’re looking at at the start is that the book where we had the um the terribly negative confusing message from Rupert or whatever it was called um okay right complete this trial trial complete

Abba keeps writing poetry through their classes and then begging me for notes while I’m happy to oblige I can’t however think they’re squandering their time here says Kalina a fourth year student okay so Amy Brandon and Cassie have survived which is wonderful for us okay so go to next join School staff

Book of dread how are you complete shout on unlocks new research and pushes back the fog however the more one learns about the dread the more it fights back in the form of nightmares okay all right the fog has come back so those two Chambers are now sealed off again and I

Assume more bad guys are waiting to you know be sort of dealt with later on okie doke so how do we complete chapter on book of dread uh knowledge regained the foggy seeds new research available at the Arcane secretary Theory and the rewards are unlocked tier one ones at

The one shaper and a Mana Crystal choose magic select a power below to unlock it and gain escape from this dungeon brilliant light start with Mana Lantern researched and rewards an additional Mana Crystal start with a gruel pot researched and meal recipes at the grill part output twice as many meals that

Could be quite handy because often in games like this you struggle for food and people are going around being very hungry so how about we have a lovely plentiful supply of gruel that will be lovely okay so chapter one The progenitor is complete right so get that

Stone and wood okay that seems fine so stones and trees and press mine or chop buttons to Mark the tasks active let’s test our staff uh tell School staff that someone needs to come and work there’s nature to chop and Earth to mine okay right so that tree we want to chop that

And that there we want to mine there that there mine there and those there let us Harvest those because they might be useful for food or whatever uh yeah okay Chuck that tree can survive actually leave that tree that tree can grow to be big and strong there is a rat

Over there do we need to go and fight that rat there’s a dire rat um can be hunted for useful reagents are eaten whole by wolfkin okay right that’s the wolfkins and lunch or whatever okay right so move time on the surface yes from the surface now your newly

Graduated Mages have emerged from the underscore and are now staff ready to work they’ll need your help to find food build a place to sleep and start construction on a new school for young Majors but don’t wait too long to summon students the fog approaches okay I’ve

Got this choose a school name the future of this school belongs to a new staff they want to call it pyromancers Hall uh no hang on random what name does random come with Institute of the Wizards Cavern the Gloom claw Hall Pete petal Towers okay right now we can give it a

Good name let’s go give our Wizarding School a lovely name let’s call it the geek cupboard Academy of lovely magic I think that sounds quite good we’ll go with that thank you very much okay so our teachers are over here busily cutting down trees and Mining rocks and

All that kind of stuff I assume at some point we are going to have to go and build some stuff so harvested various bits of that discovered wood okay this is useful we can use that to do building and such like um okay so minor Stone out crop are

These just the jobs that we’ve given them to do okay learn about construction no walls build learn about okay right we know about materials learn about construction build a wall or two then connect them with the roof okay right I get that that’s kind of how buildings

Work okay so build over here so build some walls I kind of feel like we should build ah we can’t build on there so build at the edge here and then if we just build I don’t like that is that is that big enough is that good for a for a

Thing for a wall I don’t really know the stairs are like that okay so we can put um hang on a minute hang on I kind of feel like we should cover that entire bit up do you want to keep that and uh can we just do this one two three four

And five okay like that oh no hang on are we going to need a door I kind of feel like I’ve blocked them off over there hang on a minute hang on a minute we need a door I’ve messed that up slightly and construction how do you get

Quick as we can because we’re going to need many things to build with I think so mind that and mine that we do need food and drink and everything that’s right okay so spooky ghost person is going through here they’re now sorting that out which is wonderful okay so build

Um there’s no windows but I kind of feel like we should put another door over there just so we can get out that side and then roof okay so roof is gonna uh just sort of go drag to which oh oh okay I suspect maybe we’ve built

Slightly too big which is no greater surprise because that happens a lot in the geek cupboard um okay put that like that look uh 50 to wonk um oh hang on hang on I just Wonka yeah I want it all I want it completely one colored yeah sort the roof placement

Please and then can we have another bit of roof hang on click like the drag to adjust so can we bring it oh no that that didn’t work don’t start at that side possibly this is all fine I know how to build roofs then put that over like that and then yeah maximum

Wonkiness on that as well please right so now I’ve got that in there and we should have a roof so we should have a nice kind of little a little place to go and live in and call our school which is wonderful that’s unsupported okay maybe we should have another wall in here

Possibly and a door because I think maybe that is going to possibly fall down so let me hang on a minute get another door okay wonderful so plenty of plenty of resources going in we might possibly need some more but there’s loads on around look they’re still

Working on getting these okay so wood might be the issue okay chop that down that’s gonna be fine learn about construction learn about doors and hallways um okay uh place a door a hallway on a floor in section to create an opening in the wall a hallway is free to place and

Uses no Mana a door keeps on water creatures out and lets you set rules which majors may pass through it okay that makes perfect sense that’s how doors work I like that right so we’re slowly building so if we speed time on if we hurry things along are they gonna

Get this thing built even quicker kind of feel like we shouldn’t have built maybe so big but you know what it’s done now we’re going to start off big and it can only you know get better from that ah there we go look the back is done everything went a little bit

With oh oh okay six days until destruction it says there push back the fog uh by up to one day by defeating underlords okay I think the students have to go and do that but we’ve nearly finished building our really Wonka Lloyd’s roofs which I do like I like the fact there is

A sort of a roof wonkiness option that’s quite fun right so they’re just finishing this off same when oh hang on what’s that the Founder’s grave contains Edmund okay uh right so Edmund is the founder then where have they gone they come back down here why are they going back down

Here what are you doing in here your top oh you’re topping up your manner because you’re near that thing you need that Mana font thing ah right okay and you’re using your magic to do the building okay right we’ve got two rooms we’ve got two rooms done it’s wonderful learn about

Fog okay a destructive malevolent miasma the fog surrounds your score during closer at nightfall every day it will destroy most Furnishings in its path if it goes over the school the school is destroyed and the game ends okey-doke two ways to push it back uh yep graduate

Students in a trial and the second is to unlock a new chapter of the book of dread doing this for grades of Mana font right so how do we do that and so I know all about the fog and the rooms and everything else um how do we unlock a new chapter in

Here then so book of dread okay have we done this already the Puppet Master we can pick it says choose magic grants a verdant wand to summon extra powerful student or an iron will the amount that trauma reduces the character’s Max Center to a conviction is reduced I mean how about

We have that oh hang on to vivified we haven’t okay we haven’t done that yet I think do we have to send people on a trial no because we have no students right how do we get students then game how do we go about doing that then is that something

Obvious hang on pause time for a second I feel like we need to designate these rooms as something how do we designate a room um teaching do we need to do that crafting as a gruel po hang on a gruel pot yes we’ve got that that’s we can

A Healer might be quite useful so a healer’s wand I don’t know what we’re doing here until not enough ingredients we need one healer’s wand for them to do that okay do do extra do once so in one Healer a one Defender and one attacker

So now do we need to go to ones and make a Healer one Defender wand and an attacker one is that what we have to do ah I’m I’m completely winging this I don’t really understand what’s happening okay we’ll just we’ll run time on and I’m sure something will happen but I think

That’s what we have to do a healer’s wand so basic wand with ah with water attacks and lightning defenses oh no research selected hang on a minute hang on there a search portal thing is in okey dokey right research is now button at the bottom okay Mana Lantern a lantern that has a

Mana Crystal focusing his light to restore manner a modest grave a place to bury characters corpse okay that’s Jolly dining table where we can go and eat a hidden oh a midden heap spot to process non-humanoid corpses and turn them into reagents okay that’s a bit Sinister

Um can we Zoom all the way out and that’s kind of it so it all goes off these few here how about a Mana lantern that sounds like a useful thing because at the moment they have to go all the way down there I think to charge up

Their magic so if there’s one up here that would be quite handy okay right that that’s fine the big question now is how do we do anything else I’m not entirely sure I don’t know how to get the students in really it’s not overly clear if I’m being completely like we’ll

Work it out I’m sure so hang on uh it’s not down there nothing down there at the moment so it’s got to be in ones okay so pop back down to that thing so it says there and here’s what a basic wand with water attacks and lightning defenses so

Water attacks and lightning defenses okay so water pack lightning defense we can’t do water attacks I don’t think it doesn’t look like that’s the thing that we know how to do or fire defenses maybe we can’t make one of those possibly that’s something we can’t do okay take that out

For now get rid of that okay Defenders wand so nature attacks Earth defenses so can we make that so nature attack and Earth uh where the Earth defenses it’s a nature attack Earth Defense so nature earth tier one we need viscera okay how do we get the ad design okay so

That allows us to make one of those ones and then attackers wand is fire attacks and air defenses okay fire attacks air defenses and fire attack and air defense okay well those are things are highlighted as well um Fire and Air too yeah so Fire and Air

So we need wood and sin Okay add that design we need to go and get some rats I suspect I think that is going to be what we have to go and do so hunt these rats please let’s get those three rats and we’ll just see what we can do with those

But I think most people apart from apart from ghosty face are asleep oh hang on but you’re using magical bows at rodaga sinus and this original sorts okay right there are there are many bits of rats now but you are can you you can do some

Stuff you can sort of interact with some things but not everything so yeah can you pick things up you pick up this stuff I’m not sure right can you grab all these guts and things and can we use them and do anything else you’re eating berries which is fine

Um no wand shaper Bill oh hang on we need to build a wand shaper uh right where is one of those okay there is the wand shaper so that’s another crafting thing so I think for now we put that in there so pop the one shaper next to the

Research table because that makes sense the gruel part is not doing anything okay hang on ADD meal order so bitter gruel gut Berry soup okay let’s get some good to Berry soup on the go shall we do that I don’t know five times let’s make

Five lots of soup we are going to need to go and collect some more berries but there we go go and harvest that and harvest that that could be quite handy okay right so people are getting on with things that is now really important we need the one shaper to make some wands

So then we can get students in because when they arrive they expect a wand I think that’s how it goes so I think if we can get that in somebody could go and make some ones and that would be wonderful I don’t care hang around one

Shaper add one daughter so oh hang on hang on a minute we don’t need these here then do we they’re our own ones and we’re designing ourselves ah okay I’ve got a little bit of ahead of myself there right can we have an attacker one

And can we have a Defender Bond and can we have a Healer wand that would be wonderful can we go and make those please that would be fantastic so how they go look so Amy is now trying to gather all the things we need to go and

Make some ones okay right learn about summoning students okay here we go this would have been handy to know a little bit earlier to be on this game in order to summon students create a wand order at a one shaper you can select a pre-made recipe for a wand or create

Your own with the one designer the staff will get the ingredients and use nature to craft the wand next create a summoning order at the student Summoner for the one your staff created your stuff will use lightning at the student Summoner to find the appropriate student

For that wand and summon them to your school okay that’s how we get a people here that’s very handy indeed so we’re making one attacker wand oh hang on not that one don’t do two attacker ones did that a bit wrong one attacker one one Defender one and one Healer wand then

Down here you’ve come down here now why is a Defender wand attack a wand and heal a wand that’s what we want so now we can get three ones created and then get three different types of student too and then we can send them on a trial and

See how they get done okay this is wonderful and have we got gut berries have we got any goat berries uh plans got very Vines we’ve got I don’t know if we have any actual gut berries um what about bitter growth bitter rice okay is that a thing that we can collect

Is bitter Riser thing on the map okay I can’t find any bitter eyes but it looks like we have made six bottles of gut Berry soup so we do have some food around so I think what we do is we just say okay do that another five times

That’s gonna be okay and then we just need to tell them to go and get some more berries there’s a bit over there so they harvest the vines to get those berries again no berries because they’ve all been turned into the soup and then go over this side just grab some more

Berries I just want to make sure we have plenty of food because yeah that’s gonna be a problem if you don’t have food people get grumpy we know how it goes in these sorts of games so how about if we’re going to do that somebody go and do that so Brandon wonderful cushiony

Soft Brandon you go and do that please and then are we making ones it looks like yeah there’s almost one ready look the one shaper is done okay it’s done so now where are you going you’re going to get more resources by the look at it

Okay that’s absolutely fine so how do we get a new so hang on did somebody just appear there’s a wand uh did a person just appear there’s a wand right there how do we train them up that’s another good question isn’t it so are you gonna hang on so I’m just

Waiting to say are you now going to summon a student okay hang on we’re Billy things are happening this is exciting okay it takes a while for things to happen in this game that’s okay right move time on very quickly you just keep checking magic at that thing

Eventually it will get there give it enough charge and then I imagine a student’s gonna pop through hello it’s Drea or dryer oh look right there’s our staff with the big kind of uh portrait boxings and the students have got the little ones okay this is wonderful so

Now they’ve put the wand in there so you’re gonna charge it up and bring in another student and then how are we looking over here to create the final what is done the Healer wand is done and you’re now making some more soup okay I mean you can just you could just stir

That you could you don’t have to use magic for everything you could just you know Stir It with a spoon but no no fire all the way okay you know what if I could do magic I probably would use it for most things to be fair right so can

We now get another person into Mutombo nice and quick who are we going to get in now so and we have edrick that’s a wonderful name welcome aboard edric this is very exciting so two students so I think now if we could get the third one if we told

Them to go and do a third one um yeah heal a wand right so don’t do that so get rid of that order and get rid of that or just so I feel a little bit more in control of things right run time on quickly now we’re gonna summon a

Student who’s going to take on the Healer wand and now what do we do hang on a minute hang on uh learn about summoning students learn about classes here we go your school offers a Beacon of Hope to magically gifted students who would otherwise succumb to nightmares to

Make good in this promise you only just have to teach classes allowing your students to master their magic to start a class build a learning Stone during schedule periods stuff would teach students what they need to learn based on their magic skills and their wands okay a learning stone that sounds like a

Very achievable thing so yeah it wasn’t a teacher with it so a learning Stone click that can’t click that why can’t I click that it’s grayed out oh viscera we need some more viscera for some reason okay hang on where are some rats uh there’s a rat there can we hunt that one

Scaled up everyone’s just skilled up okay water fire earth that’s brilliant that’s very exciting water fire earth Captain Planet it’s wonderful okay so they’re all learning lots of new exciting things that’s good news and we’ve unlocked the mysterious secrets of the dining table so I think now let’s go

To research and unlock chest so we can get that build one of those and then take all the stuff from the outside and put it inside so it doesn’t fall apart so absolutely go and research that thank you very much that will be wonderful and

Do we get a smoke stick from some smoke reed I would assume so because it’s got the word smoke in it let’s have a little look so you go inside there I mean again using magic today you can just walk up and use your hand and just pull it out

Of the ground but they get right smoke sticks now we should be able to build a storage chairs yay that’s wonderful case how about we put that just there that could be quite good so really focus on getting that done and I assume once that is together they’ll start putting things

Care of business Drea overcame a nasty case of the magic Yips and led the team with inspirational conviction okay so they go and do that we complete their graduation so they grew up and they went oh look at that oh look at you you look marvelous Drear looks amazing okay so

They went and did a mission they went and did an exciting Mission so now are they just gonna leave they all just sort of left so now hang on go back to the book of dread does that mean that we can ah here we go yes we can complete this

One here so we can complete Chapter two The Puppet Master the fog received it for how far back is the fog right now uh I’ll crack it the fog has gone back quite a long way uh foggy Chris does oh special crystals have appeared where there once was fog oh that’s quite

Exciting okay so then I think yeah if we go into there go into the book of dread a powerful Ally does seem quite a handy thing so Grant’s a word and wand to summon an extra powerful student so how about then begin chapter completion so do that uh are you gonna

Possibly built upwards a little bit rather than just popping a roof on the top straight away but you know what you live and learn and then yeah we trained our first batch of students they went and did our exciting kind of mission things down here oh look there’s a new

Room there are new Caverns oh that’s what we do so next time out we’d have to go down here and deal with more monsters okay I see and hang on a minute something wibbly happened I assume crikey look how far back the thing is look how far back the fog is wow those

Sorts of things now but yeah that’s a good point to leave it yeah we’ve done sort of the student training process an entire round we’ve done that once all the way through and we’ll see what happens with the fog and we’ve seen them level up we’ve done some building and

Some research and all that kind of stuff so I think yeah that’s a very good point to leave things for now I’ve really enjoyed this this was not what I was expecting it was a little bit of what I was expecting this one the bill building

Bit of it was kind of what I thought was going to happen but I wasn’t expecting that kind of the dungeon Trail bit that makes it quite exciting and you’ve got the looming threat of the fog over here which is always coming to get you so I

Wasn’t expecting that either so I quite like that I like the fact there is a little bit of peril there’s a little bit of peril going on just to keep you on your toes but there we go we’ve come to the end of the demo so we will finish
