Hello and welcome back to let’s build today we’re returning to the lands next to the large nether portal to flesh this area out and make the whole thing look a little bit more evil now you can see where we’ve slowly started to begin that process by turning the grasslands area Around the portal into a desert biome and what this does is it means the grass gets a washed out light green effect that contrasts perfectly against the dark green effect of like a plains biome and makes it look like this portal is having a real effect on the land And also there’s way too many trees here if we do add trees they’re going to be evil looking trees but for now these oaks and birch trees just have to go Now we’re trying something new with world edit basically what you can do is there’s a tool that lets you set certain vertexes certain points on the map and then create a shape between those points and by doing that we created an obsidian spike turned some of it into bright redstone Blocks that glow with these shaders then we coated those redstone blocks with some red stained glass and what you get with the shaders is this really cool red glow effect through these massive evil looking spikes that almost look like they’re piercing through the land like the evil buried Beneath is clawing up through the ground Also in the comments section i read that one of you guys maybe some of you guys said that the painted effect that we had on these mountains of the netherrack and the obsidian the red and the black that we have at the back here it looked way too flat so what i’m doing Is with a sphere brush i’m bringing that out a bit giving it some more three-dimensionality is that a word three-dimensionality well it can be now so we’re painting over these and just basically making it look a bit more solid and a bit more 3d rather than have It be a painted on effect against the grass and the rock and actually i’m really happy with how this looks i think it’s a really cool effect Now as you can see with the spikes we have the bottom of the spike turned into obsidian and the tip of the spike being redstone the first small spike we did against the cliffside was a proof of concept a test and now we’re trying the exact same Technique but we scaled it up to this massive spike that’s now piercing out of the ground and again we have a core of obsidian an outer layer of crystal or stained red glass and then once we’re happy with how much stained glass there is we paint some of the obsidian on the inside As redstone blocks and the way we do this is we use a brush that is masked against glass and air basically it only changes obsidian and it only changes obsidian into redstone and honestly it’s a really cool effect that i really like really happy with Now okay we have spikes that are digging out of the ground making the area look a little bit more evil but surely these spikes are going to have an effect on the land as well and so we’re using a new block for this version of minecraft that i’m using crying obsidian Which wasn’t in the version i had before we’re painting some evil tendrils that are reaching out from the ground around where the spikes are and we’re using a mix of like 50 50 crying obsidian and obsidian and then those in turn are turning into crying obsidian and netherrack and you Get this really cool kind of purple and red effect reaching out from these spikes i’m pretty happy with how this turned out and of course nothing says evil like lava for some reason there isn’t another really evil fluid in the game at the moment maybe if they Add blood we’ll change the blood but for now lava will do okay so we have the giant nether portal but it’s not really leading anywhere and i kind of stole this idea from world of warcraft where they have the dark portal and then there’s the the path of glory Which is like a big road a big path that leads from the portal which is where the armies will march down to kind of conquer the land and we’re doing that kind of path of glory thing here as well much like the way i built the paths Around the rest of the kingdom we’re painting down a mix of evil blocks and then in the center of those evil blocks we’re having a thinner smaller layer of slabs to make it look like a path has been carved into the landscape here now once again we’re going to be Painting down some more evil spikes we’re going to be using again obsidian and redstone the old classic mix i feel like once you have a color scheme and a color theme it’s something you want to stick with however for these spikes what i wanted to do is have one spike reaching out and Then have another spike to the side so we have like a double spike effect now as we move over to paint our third spike you can also see that i’ve added some flames i figured you know what this place needs a liquor flame nothing also says evil like a little bit of fire Now for these spikes i decided to add another one as well so we have like a three spike structure here but also i want to try an idea where one of the spikes has broken off and fallen into the land and you can see it’s just dug into the land sticking out Of the grass like that i think it’s a cool effect that i want to keep now okay it’s time to move away from spikes and create something a bit more architectural most of this episode has been painting but now it’s time to actually build something so what i wanted to do here was Construct like a large glass sphere and then encase that glass sphere in this dark stone brick that we have here added some circles for a little bit of detail and then what we’re going to do is we’re going to fill this sphere with some lava have it Half full and then crack it so the lava is leaking out and this glass sphere is going to be suspended by this weird tentacle claw that is reaching out of the land you can see me here snaking it through the land like some giant tunneling worm And then at the end of the tentacle i wanted to have like a large demon hand holding the glass sphere and the best way to show that this was like a demon’s hand was to use the same tool that we used to make the spikes to make some bone nails And you can see there’s some some very white bone claws on the demon’s hand i think that’s a pretty cool look now also this whole episode is about the idea of this evil under the land that’s clawing its way out breaking through the landscape and just clawing itself into the world And so i thought well hang on a sec why don’t we just expose a piece of land here just basically carve away the landscape and just paint this giant evil eye that looks like it’s looking out from the earth as if the glass is some thin eggshell And beneath it is this baby chick of demon doom so once that eyeball was in place and i think we made the center of the eye the very pupil we made that lapis lazuli so it glows in the dark After that we went around and painted down some some red nether weeds and some crimson wood i believe that is And there you go it’s a bit of a shorter episode than the modded minecraft that you might be used to but it’s super nice to get back into the kingdom and start building again night time really is the best time to showcase this evil land because so much Of this area hinges on the idea of these redstone blocks glowing through that red stained glass and the bright red evil effect it paints on the land now originally for this build i wanted to also add some kind of black stone ruins and some castles and things but it Was taking way too much time even just adding the spikes alone so what we might do is come back to this area and add some ruins and some wreckage basically you have evil here that’s clawed through the land but you have nothing here to say there was anything here before And i really like the idea of there being a castle here that has been left to disrepair and ruin Now next episode we’re going to try something different i’m going to try a let’s build without any commentary at all to see how it works but until then hit like hit subscribe consider becoming a member and until then take care You Video Information
