Levi Niha – Making Music in Minecraft #3

I am once again back in Minecraft I’m gonna be making some more music so in the last video I put together this big old beat making machine right here I really like how it turned out I learnt a whole lot of new techniques but I feel

Like it is still not enough so today I want to add on a brand new feature to the music making machine so today my challenge is to build a step sequencer like the one in FL studio so for anyone who isn’t familiar with it you basically just clicking we want your drum sounds

To play and you can also update it as you go yeah a little bit of that you can do it I don’t know why you’d want it no I think this design should be pretty simple to put together so it is essentially just gonna be the same as

How these note blocks down here work so I’m just going to be using the same concept of covering up the note blocks and I don’t want them to play and then taking the blocks off and I wanted to make some noise yeah but to make things a little bit more interesting for this

Video I might actually use pistons to take care of this I haven’t really worked with pistons before so this should be interesting I didn’t mean to do that but before actually start placing in any pistons at all I better just plan out how I’m gonna lay this thing out so I still actually

Want it to look pretty similar to the FL Studio one so I might use two red stone lamps like that to take care of each step so I should just be able to put down two of those and it works pretty well actually I think I already did that

There we go so there’s just gonna be exactly the same as this except a lot more a lot more take awhile now I’ve already got this little layout here planted grass blocks it seems to be alright but I think I’ve done it one block off I think I’m gonna pull

Everything over this way a little bit just so I can put in a step counter down the bottom just something similar to this but a lot more compact just because otherwise I wouldn’t really know what beats are playing so I think it might come out there right yeah now where is

Design over four more times this thing is gonna be enormous I don’t actually think you’ll be able to hear it and look at it all all at once now I quickly try to figure out how to do the clone function but I couldn’t figure it out I kept getting it in the

Wrong place so I’m gonna have to do this all by hand but luckily I hold the record for being the world’s fastest minecraft builder okay that wasn’t actually too bad then I took a couple of minutes and enormous nearly takes up the same space as this entire beat maker

Here but this is just for the drums let’s just quickly see what it is all gonna look like once we have some drums programmed in oh I am proud that looks really good that actually looks like they fell studio step sequencer maybe like an older version or something like

That but I think it looks really good so now that I’ve got the look of it taken care of let’s go ahead and start wiring it all up so this is actually gonna be pretty simple I think it’ll just be the same as this circuit here which is

Running these lights I think I’ll just build this one down a little bit lower though because I have to put some Pistons in what are you guys doing down here what is it too dark do I need to like put some torches in or something I don’t want all these people walking

Around everywhere like that all right just bury now I’m thinking that I might actually have to flip the signal over because if I just put a piston straight on there it will be doing it all backwards I think this is quickly yeah so that is not what I want I want it to

Be the opposite so and I’ve done this before so there leave a torch and we need one of those we need one of those wait where did it go okay we need one of those so that still didn’t flip it I think I need to put the

Piston further down maybe so now how do I set this up it pushes the block out which will block off the note block turn that off and the block stays there I need these ones okay just number two grabs on hey there we go that seems to be working pretty well

Let’s just quickly hook it up to this clock here and do a little test even though I don’t really get why it wouldn’t work seems too simple so kick drum is not playing to flick the switch turns on the light and it plays easy the piston sounds a bit annoying though I

Think I’ll turn that off later on actually I’m just gonna try doing this a different way I feel like I don’t even need the block that seems pretty pointless if I could just get the piston to push down maybe like that and then look there that should that should work

So the light is off the piston is pushed down on top of the note block flick it pull the piston off and it plays the drum yeah that is even simpler so now let’s just do that – drums hissed as my step counter working kind of I think it

Might be a little bit off yeah dude that is working nicely I am so proud of myself right now it is such a simple setup but it just works so well oh I’m impressed so because I’m copying the FL Studio layout I may as well copy the

Drum layout as well so on the bottom we have this snare drum put our sand in there pop us again sand in there yeah nice so that actually came together really fast so now all of these should be activating snare drums I’ll just go do a random rhythm it’s really bad rhythm but

At least it is working and now because I can’t figure out the cloning I just need to go through and manually place in all the other three tracks this should be fun and there we go that is all done it is looking really good really clean that

Didn’t actually take too long to get everything set off I think it only took like ten minutes or something like that which isn’t too bad now let’s just quickly test it out by drawing in a really basic beat I like that so that is looking really good it looks pretty

Similar to the FL Studio one it functions pretty much the same except there’s one big issue it does not sound the same at all now that is where this little resource pack right here comes in handy so I just quickly put it together and all it does is replace the minecraft

Drum sounds with the default FL Studio drum sounds and when we’re loaded in it sounds a little something like this That is perfect so good now just for a quick comparison I’ll just draw in the exact same beat here in FL studio just to see how close it sounds just go like that sounds pretty close I’m actually pretty surprised with that I think the only difference would just be the volume of

It because I just have to be a whole lot higher to be able to see everything but apart from that I think that is a major success I am actually really impressed with how good that is now listen expecting that now I think I might just

Quickly add on one more feature and that is just gonna be a mute button on the side here for each drum track so this should be fairly simple to put together we’ve just put some lamps on here with some switches I think I’ll make it come

Around here and then just drop it down and then I’ll just put a comparator in there and I think it’s backwards yeah that is backwards I need to try flip the signal around again hmm what can this go put that one there that one there it is looking pretty good

Flick it on and it should play yeah turn it off Oh redstone master everybody okay nice notice need to repeat that over a few more times and I’m thinking all done with this oh we really NFL studio now I love you know to bring in your own

Sounds anyway why don’t we actually go ahead and start making some little beats with our step sequencer let’s just quickly unmute all of the tracks just to like a bit and now oh this is easy put in some high hats oh that is good it just sounds like a man if he’ll

Studio put in some extra sneeze hey There we go that actually works really well I was expecting it to be a bit slow but that is quality look how easy it is just a change it’s a horrible beat I think I might just quickly mute that hi-hat there and now what I’m gonna do is I’m just gonna

Line up some extra note block sounds with these kick drums so I might pull in the bass sound getting a bit laggy another one in it wait you put that one up one try that out it actually works I might actually just quickly try swapping out the sound what was that

Didgeridoo one was that pumpkin I think about having pumpkin oh yeah there we go Good about putting some extra note blocks onto this hi-hat try out this one here So it’s a little bit high what was the lower ones try the iron in there put some of these notes oh that is good I am proud of this machine right here I’ll just turn everything off and I’ll do a little arrangement for you guys so good This is my favorite thing I’ve ever made ever not even Minecraft just either now I just really want to see what other styles of music I can quickly put together this workflow is insanely fast I mean I guess that is the whole point of having a step sequencer why don’t we

Go for something a little bit faster like that that should do it putting some high hats I may as well just quickly layer up these snares while I’m at it there’s clips from the wrong place that one’s gotta go there I’ll just get rid of all of these extra note blocks and I

Think it is ready to play I can get out of here yeah that’s what I like to hear so I think I should actually be able to layer up some base sounds whoops I should be able to layer up some base sounds with these high hats absolute

Bang up even though it is exactly the same as this older system here it just works so much faster I’m really enjoying it that sounds really good just quickly wanna see what it sounds like without the FL Studio pack it might sound a whole lot worse where is the M rule

Actually I should be able to put these almost yeah that works I’ll just quickly turn off all these other sounds first that is a bit too intense so we want another one here oh here we go It’s bringing the rest of these good that is a banger wow this is the craziest thing ever it works so well I feel like that might be because of the sound tech which I’ve brought in for the heavier sounding drums but either way that is actually a whole lot of fun you

Could probably tell them I’m actually really enjoying this nowadays I’ll just quickly do an arrangement of this song as well try not to laugh too much ah there is a Vanga that is a whole lot of fun oh wow it is actually so good I’m

Glad I try to make this now I’ve already tried it out and it does seem to be a bit of a problem when I try to run all of these tracks here everything gets a bit laggy everything gets a little bit out of time which kind of sucks which

Means that I can not use these two things together but I think this one here is actually a lot more practical it is extremely easy to swap out the instruments you can even just extend it out for more tracks because the circuit is so simple I think it might actually

Be beneficial to make this a bit longer so I can make some proper length songs rather than just four bar loops but I guess because it is so easy to mute and unmute the tracks it is pretty easy to make the song longer if you want but

Yeah anyway I think is gonna wrap it up for this episode of making music in Minecraft ow I’m actually pretty proud of what I put together here I really like how it turned out and I’m just really surprised with how well it functions you’re able to make little

Drum loops and stuff like that extremely fast and I’m just really excited because I learned how to swap out the note block sounds that is gonna come in handy I’m actually pretty interested in extending this thing out here and bringing in some custom loops and drum sounds and stuff like that and actually

Making a proper song inside of Minecraft you could easily get it to the point where someone wouldn’t even know that you made the song in Minecraft because it would just sound so good but yeah anyway I’ll save that for another video I’m officially a Minecraft youtuber now
