Well hello everybody Welcome Back to Josh gets lost uh this is our get lost guide uh a survival guide uh to help you guys out as you’re playing Minecraft uh we are in a house can you believe it uh this is our starter house that we finished well we completed the outside Of it in the last episode there’s a lot of work to do still with the interior uh and with uh yard and all that sort of thing but uh it was nice waking up uh under a under a roof with a with a warm Fire Burning uh down below us uh very Very nice so um today uh we’re actually not going to start right away on our house uh I want to get started on our spider farm uh remember we found uh that cave spider spawner in the last episode uh and I want to get back down there I Want to uh turn that into a farm where we can get lots of string for future things uh like more scaffolding which I’m always running out of uh and uh we can also uh get uh experience from it which is going to be a very big deal because every time we Come to this enchanting table our measly 12 20 things of experience uh are not holding up very well for us so uh if you’ll give me a minute to put away all my stuff and grab our gear uh we are going to head down uh into the cave and Begin work on the spider spawner all right now something we want to do real quick before we head down there is to begin to collect a resource that we have not yet used in this world uh yet has been sitting right in front of us the Entire time and this is this uh carrot looking Block in the stone this is copper copper is an ore that can be uh smelted it’s found plentiful especially up near uh the surface I mean you can just see here there’s quite a vein of it uh let’s go ahead and just keep this Open to the sky so we don’t get monsters spawning in here um plus I may want these uh Cobblestone uh there we go like I was never here uh copper is an item uh that can be smelted uh but uh it has a very important use and the reason we’re getting it is Because I have amethyst shards uh and I’ll show you guys a quick video of what that looked like uh when I uh found this and picked it up out on my travels recently now with geod one of the places that you can find them is along the ocean floor sometimes you’re Like you to spot them in the sides of caves as you’re traveling around uh through the world but uh if you see this dark uh smooth balt on the bottom of the ocean floor that is usually a sign that there is a geode there unless there’s some really weird strange uh terrain Generation however in this case uh there were also some drowned uh who apparently were very interested in the geode and this one is a Trant uh wielder uh not only are the Trent guys very deadly especially when your armor is weak um but they can be kind of a pain to fight So I finally took out him unfortunately did not get a trident drop from him uh you can only find those from actually killing uh the Trident bearing drown uh in Java Edition uh but uh finally was able to get into the geod and unfortunately it’s a little bit of a Bust because uh there are no uh basically budding geodes going on nearby so I did what any reasonable person would do uh rather than continuing to search knowing that I was going to need uh some tinted glass uh and some uh amethyst for my telescope uh I Basically set up here a little farm and able to redo this and waited about 25 minutes at my computer while I was watching a football game to check now this one has finally grown uh they can only grow from these x-shaped blocks um that are here and they will grow in Different stages the stage that you want uh is the amethyst cluster which is the full grown stage there’s budding there’s medium uh there’s large uh and so these ones right here uh if you find them uh and they are amethyst clusters you can mine them with a fortune pick and get The amethyst shards we’ll talk a little bit later about what else you can do with them we also uh happen to spawn a Wandering Trader on the ocean while we were up there I found him actually on the return Journey from my trip you may have seen that in the last Video all right so our copper is now smelting here we go we’ve got some of it uh two of these in fact uh plus our amethyst Shard will enable us to build something new that we have not yet got to build in this world and that is a spy Glass uh so we want to check that out uh we can actually use it to uh rightclick and look closer at things in the world uh there’s plugins you can make that will allow you to do this without a spy glass uh but hello horse anything up in The trees but this is definitely a tool that you can use uh for that I’m actually going to keep it down here cuz there’s really no reason to have it uh down in the mines with us but that is uh something that you can make and I wanted to make sure to make That before I did anything else with our amethyst shards now ideally it would be nice to have a little bit more than I have here uh because we want to be able to make something that you can make with amethyst shards and that is ttin glass and they require four amethyst shards uh For one block of glass which will give you uh two tinted glass uh we can do one more of those uh so we have four and tinted Glass is very important uh it’s different from stained glass stained glass happens uh when you take a uh Little bit of glass do we have any glass left uh or uh slabs uh and you combine them with something uh that is a Dye so for example here uh bone milal can turn into white dye I can put that in here and I can make White tinted glass panes out of that and that would be stained glass not tinted I even said it wrong right there let me head into my house real quick and sleep and then I will be back I do need to add some pressure plates on those doors not Much s in having a house uh if the doors don’t close uh and those will definitely help us out there let’s see we got spruce floors uh let’s go uh let’s do some spruce pressure plates uh we’ve got three doors so let’s do three of these just two across there You can actually make those in your regular crafting grid that will open the door and it will automatically shut it when we come back in we will have to open it from this way but we don’t want to put it on this side so that way uh Zombies can’t just walk up and uh push their way in or whatever if we’re here at night uh so that is what that is all about okay so uh we have made our tinted glass uh which is different than stained glass stain glass is just like regular Glass but it has a color on it uh tinted glass actually does even though you can see through it it does not allow light to pass through which you know light is what you see the physics of it don’t 100% make sense uh but basically it means you can have a Dark room that is able to spawn mobs but you can still be able to see into it with some tended glass and though so even though we only have four uh want to be able to uh use those I’m going to go ahead and uh store the rest of these Back here uh we’ll hopefully get a chance to maybe find a better geod later that one I found was a little disappointing uh and I definitely did not just want to spend a lot of time uh waiting around there for that all right let me grab a few more things and then We will head down into the mine now you may have noticed that I bought some glowstone uh from the wandering Trader and glowstone is a unique uh light source uh in that uh a couple things about it for one uh if it’s placed in the world you can Only mine it with a silk touch uh so that’s important if you mine it with a regular Tool uh you will actually get glowstone dust back and not the glowstone itself uh so um that’s something to know about that but glowstone is normally found in the in Another region of the world called the nether uh that I think we’re going to be headed to pretty soon in this series uh but I wanted to use it for this which is making Redstone lamps oops too many clicks there in fact I’m going to make five of these just for Having and these are important because Redstone lamps uh will enable us to put an on and off switch inside of our mob spawner uh that we can activate using Redstone uh so that’s a pretty cool feature uh that we want to take advantage all right I’ve talked enough Let’s head down uh into the M shaft and see what we find and we look at that I’ve been getting a little bit of the mine that I the part that I couldn’t get earlier and we found some diamonds that’s pretty cool um yep also have some Blocks here that look a little different uh if you’ll notice uh this is the smooth Basalt which typically means that there might be a geode here which would be awesome because because while it was nice finding that one in the ocean uh it was a little far from our base which Means it’s not going to be loaded very much which means if you saw uh there’s definitely it definitely takes a while for for things to grow let me toss out something here Cal sit’s a little rare to find in the world uh and it cannot be crafted So uh looks like we have something here go ahe and put up a torch sometimes there are monsters in these GEOS because they are Hollow and and uh they are there’s a little bit of light from the amethyst but not in every corner so you do want to watch out For wow look at that um all right now we are actually on the second floor here so I wonder that’s more of the geod all right we will come back and explore this later oh yep there we go I was wondering if this lower floor might be able to access this it looks Like wow I guess we’ve been over this area quite a bit uh there’s our original entry point up there so a lot of these have they have grown uh now something cool uh that you can do if you have silk touch is you can actually uh pick up These uh amethysts that are fully or in different stages of growth uh and you can kind of use them as decoration blocks and you got to be careful not to get rid of um what else can go inside of our bundle string cobweb into glass and the fortune on this pickaxe Will actually increase the amount of these that we get you’re seeing though that as I break these that the light level does go down in here uh so we can actually spend some time uh digging this out a bit more like I did with that other one uh but we’re Not going to do that right at this moment uh so the place we need to clear out of this uh spawner uh the general rule is you want to go four out in the cardinal directions from the spawners uh you also uh want to go two spaces Above see you and uh you want to go three spaces below uh to get this Farm uh set up so let’s work on clearing out all this all these things in the way all right well we dig out this uh area around our two spawners let’s talk About the three C’s of a good mob farm the first C is condition you have to recreate the conditions that will make the mob spawn in this case the spawners uh a room filled with complete darkness for light level zero and space for the spiders to spawn will Suffice the second seat is containment we are basically building a big box to trap them in and make sure they do not spawn anywhere else but just because we’re building a giant box for killing monsters doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun with it uh here I am mixing Sand gravel and red colored dye uh in order to make red concrete if you put it the powder and water it will turn it into hard concrete uh and we’re going to add a little little logo here inside of our spider killing chamber in honor this week in fact that this episode releases Uh Spider-Man 2 will be launching a video game I really enjoyed uh the first one and the Miles Morales sequel uh and you know it’s good to take a break from things that aren’t Minecraft you know movies and other games and fun and who doesn’t love Spider-Man so we’re going To uh build us a sort of a crude with the space we have uh representation of Spider-Man here uh and we’re going to do a little thing in honor of one of our frequent commenters di we’re going to be using some diorite uh for the eyes uh For one thing I don’t have a pure white block and don’t feel like uh trying to make uh White concrete uh there we go and we we even added a little bit of eyes I know it’s a little weird for Spider-Man the last C is collection how Are we going to be able to collect uh these mobs into some kind of killing chamber and collect the wonderful wonderful loot that they will provide us all right I think the farm is complete there are tutorials I have linked one uh Below in the description If you want to see a better in-depth detail of how to build a farm like this uh but now it’s time to turn off the lights uh and let the monsters start appearing and hopefully we can get out safely before uh things get two dicey in Here uh try to leave those ones right on the spawners for last is usually my best advice and knock out the one closest to your exit oh my gosh let me get out of here all right we’re safe except uh notice I forgot something yep uh I Forgot to put the trap doors above those chests which means uh I am slowly slowly being poisoned to death uh the spiders are chasing me uh now through the thing I sped up the footage a little I do not run this fast even though I was basically terrified but finally getting Some food I was able to work my way back in uh begin killing all the random spiders that had uh just flowed out of the machine uh did not succeed in containment there very well did I and added our trap doors and now we are good looks like there’s another one let me Get it there we go all right so now uh our killing chamber is complete uh we have Hoppers underneath these slabs uh as I kill they will be begin collecting the different resources looks like I got a couple lights there I to reach in and Grab uh so the machine can run at full capacity let’s go let’s get this Farm going come on glad these aren’t skeletons cuz skeletons will shoot you if you’re hanging out up here spiders it’s a a little safer from that distance and of course get this one at the back Luckily I saw where it was next to the red concrete and boom knocked it out there we go all right now we have complete darkness uh inside of our spider spawner area uh we’ve got the double cave spider action going and with our containment setup and our collection Down here uh we are fine I have not been poisoned once uh while hitting them down here uh the Trap iron trap doors on top uh really help along with uh the uh slab there on the bottom where they’re at uh and so we just began hitting them and Killing them and collecting The Experience uh so that uh we can gain levels uh to enchant we’re also collecting uh some spider eyes which can be used in potions uh and we’re collecting string if you saw that earlier I’m adding uh using those glowstone uh turned into Redstone lamps That I made I’m going to add a couple uh lights here that we can put on the side of this so if we need to repair something we can kind of turn these on uh and be able to uh slow down uh or maybe even stop completely uh the spread Of spiders in there with those lights on um that’s a good good way to do that with those Redstone lamps there all right so let’s get down to killing some spiders and begin going for some good enchants on our gear all right everyone we now have 31 Levels and we will make our way back up to the surface to do some enchanting and you really quick are going to see what is the issue with this where is my little my little spot let’s uh let’s have a little sleep get those surface mobs cleared out All right and you see how uh quickly uh Troublesome that could become because uh we’ve got some things to do here uh let’s grab that and That efficiency 4 so what we can do here is get a little bit back and hope that we get something besides efficiency 4 on here to make this worth it because that is going to take us to 28 levels just efficiency 4 not great uh And it looks like we were to go again we would get Unbreaking three could possibly have something else on it uh but now look we are down to 28 levels uh so you can see really quick here that uh going back and forth between uh up here and down there is Going to be a big problem for us uh one of the things we will do eventually is add a drop shoot and uh ladder or elevator out of that spot uh depending on where exactly it is in the world here we’ll have to get the cords and check it Out there uh but uh you can see now why most people when they find an experience Farm uh end up moving their enchanting setup down to the XP farm uh I need to make and clear out a room down there uh for uh this uh and then a head up here Uh I guess I’ll use this pickaxe since uh that is what it is and we are back to digging out yet more deep slate we’re going to make a big room in here uh with enough room for our enchanting setup uh enough room uh to have a little bit of storage for Items that we might uh be finding and we’re going to pretty it up a little bit uh by switching uh this basic uh deep slate blocks uh over to this nice looking uh deep slate brick uh I did accid accidentally break uh the signs in The in the spawner Farm there when I did that so I had to fix that off camera uh here we go we’ve getting some some stairs going and we’ll be uh putting those up so we have a nice walkway on each side up to where we can see into Our spawner Farm up there uh let’s continue to uh just replace all these blocks and of course we also wanted to uh even out the ceiling here uh it was a little little crazy and even some of the leftover M shaft pieces that were up Here uh basically we want to make make a nice looking room because you end up spinning especially early game quite a bit of time in a room like this uh then we began to dig out some space uh for uh the floor that will be going underneath our enchanting table uh our enchanting Setup and the bookshelf so here we’re going to be uh putting kind of figuring out where I’m putting uh the Deep slate bricks uh and then I’m going to put some special blocks uh that that will be visible after I install uh the enchantment table itself so here we go These Bricks will be these uh redstone blocks will be visible uh around our enchanting table and there’s the block for our enchanting table itself let’s go ahead and finish off this floor with of course some nice deep slate Brick we’re going to keep keep that going throughout here rather Than trying to get too uh too crazy with it uh there we go yep looking looking nice uh and uh we’re not going to leave it colorless though uh let’s use some of this amethyst blocks that we found uh in the different uh amethyst geodes uh and Add a little bit of color in here that purple on black uh dark gray looks really nice uh there we go time to begin uh taking apart our enchantment setup for the move now we are using a silk touch pickaxe it is not the most efficient tool but because it’s Silk touch it will keep these bookshelves intact uh the best thing you could use for it would be a silk touch axe uh but I don’t have one of those yet uh so it’s a little easier just to go ahead and do this it will still work uh and still Break these down of course if we were just to chop this with a regular axe uh we would get back some books but we would not get back uh the planks uh that were part of the bookshelf so uh this is the most efficient way uh for doing this Uh if you have even just a silk touch pickaxe uh there you go all right we’re going to place these then around looks like I got to replace a light here o and I covered up the amethyst so I guess I’m raising that one block up here uh later And get our little section all 15 bookshelves are now placed let’s put down our enchanting table in its new home look at it get fired up all the little text walking around it uh and we’re going to we’re going to move this uh crafting table because uh we need a Barrel to just like we had uh up on the surface uh to store all of our different uh materials like our lapis and the various tools that we’ll be using to check the enchanter there’s our Anvil and grindstone we’re going to make a barrel we will make some slabs uh Barrel is Made of a combination of slabs and wooden planks uh with that uh a barrel can be placed and be used basically just like a single chest uh however it takes up a full block and uh you can actually store it uh underneath uh the ceiling and things where you don’t need space to Open it above like you would with the chest so it’s very convenient for that has a nice profile in certain situations let’s get lots of XP uh time to begin using our diamonds to craft our actual diamond tools uh see what kind of enchants we might get on those we craft The diamond helmets we got our advancement for cover me with diamonds uh and we’ll go ahead and we have enough diamonds here uh even from clearing out the space that we had here to begin uh to get a full set of diamond gear uh that we can begin testing uh for the Enchanting process so we definitely uh wanted to do that uh and begin looking at these and seeing what different things we might get uh in the enchantment table uh so it’s worth trying out different items to see what each of them gets because the the enchantment you want may actually be on A different item during that rle and then once you uh enchant one thing it will reset the table so to speak and you can see what other options are available so back to getting some more XP getting up to 30 enchanting going and getting more XP Getting up to 30 and doing the enchants over and over again until we get uh generally speaking kind of at least some of the things that we want uh there are other ways to get the exact enchantments we want and we will talk more about that Uh in the future when we deal with villagers die spiders please please die I I’m so sick hearing spider sounds uh I’m glad uh glad we made this Farm but man they are noisy noisy nasty creatures and I did end up using a stone sword for Some of this because well uh I didn’t want to use up uh the durability on any of the diamond stuff that I had currently until I was able to actually get it uh enchanted with something that I might want to use it for uh so we’re Going to look we want to get some kinds of protection usually on our armor is the best thing to shoot for there um that way uh it will actually keep us safe uh from attacks uh in a much better way um uh that ended up uh being all right Getting protection three but we also got Unbreaking which means it will last quite a while and let’s put on our first piece of diamond gear chest plate that’ll be good uh especially for future adventures and then as I looked at the sword bane of Arthur prods 4 which is a Enchantment specifically designed for killing spiders and we got three other enchantments on it too I thought this was a remarkable enchantment luck uh with this one uh we’re actually going to keep this down here at the farm I’m going to set a little item frame right Above our killing spot and we’ll put the sword up there uh so that we can come down here and use it for killing spiders now I don’t know about you but I get sick of being underground and definitely get sick of hearing spiders constantly So I came up upstairs so to speak out to the surface to do some fishing and one of the things I did enchant uh I thought I recorded but I didn’t was uh enchanting a fishing rod which gave me a really good fishing rod lure 3 which Speeds up how fast it takes me to get fish Lu the C3 which increases my chance of getting special treasure items from uh the fishing experience uh as well as Unbreaking three which keeps our fishing rod lasting much much longer I got those and began to uh enjoy doing some fishing Got quite a bit of loot uh from this fishing experience that I’ll show you here in a minute and was even able to add the enchantment mending uh by in combining this with a fishing rod that I found which means that every time I get A fish uh the XP can go towards healing my fishing rod and I can basically fish forever and not have to worry about my fishing rod breaking on me which is pretty pretty cool if you ask me and it’s just nice to be outside in the sunshine and away from all the stupid Cave spider noises there was a lot of time spent down there this episode all right well uh funny story these guys actually appeared about an hour into my uh fishing time and did not leave for quite a while and seem to just be lost over Here on the hill so I will have to relieve them all right here is my fishing rod you can see all the enchantments there here’s my loot I’ve gotten plenty of Nautilus shells which we’ll talk about later I’ve gotten name tags I’ve gotten various fish and puffer Fish lots of Enchanted uh fishing rods lots of Enchanted bows uh which is pretty cool thing to have uh and even got an enchanted book with protection three that I’m going to use to combine with my chest plate and get protection four on my chest plate here in the Future so pretty excited about that and Saddles of course which will help us all right guys it has been a fun episode making the spider spawner hopefully you guys have enjoyed it next week we are headed because of your vote into The Nether so I’m going to have to Look for some gold armor to enchant to take with us cuz that’s an important part of being in the nether that we’ll talk about we’ll build our first portal uh and uh
