After a rather chaotic 1.13 development, Mojang confirms once again that a stable game developing and them doesn’t go well together! That’s right, several days ago was Minecon Earth 2018, a live event around Minecraft in which Mojang announces what the future of Minecraft will look like, Well, not just that, because, unfortunately for me, those juicy news were cut off again by YouTuber battles on mini-games, and a “Draw My Life” from a guy nobody knows anymore! AND BY THIS!! When is this any interesting?! *furiously beats desk down* Sorry… I went a little over the top… Well *catching his breath* Let’s start over! Minecon Earth wasn’t THAT bad, but yeah, not especially better than last year’s either, unfortunately! Contrary to what I cold have said in my latest Minecraft News, Mojang did effectively keep a good amount of defects from their event. However, I’m not here to talk about Minecon as a desieving family friendly event, but as a crunchy source of information for the future of the game we all love and cherish: Minecraft. And, I will tell you right away, Minecraft Dungeons will have its own video, no need to watch this one for it. So, we’ll start again, I’ll repeat my introduction line, and we’ll talk about 1.14. *finger cracks* OOF! After a rather chaotic 1.13 development, Mojang confirms once again that a stable game development and them doesn’t go well together! Effectively, during this Minecon Earth was announced something, despite all, rather surprising, But mainly disorganized: 1.14’s Village & Pillage Update. Let’s go through this together, Mojang separated this 1.14 into three distinct parts, and the snapshots for the first part will come out before Christmas. These will be part of what Jeb calls “Holiday Update”, or “Cat Update”. In this first part of 1.14 will be implemented new mobs: Cats! BuT SyRa, CAts ALreAdY ExiST! Yes they do, but here the devs will just separate clearly ocelots from cats; they’re two distinct animals, very different. So instead of the former 3 diffferent colors, we will now have 9 designs for the cat skin. 9, like the 9 cat lives? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM And the cherry on top of the cake, the 9th design will, if we can say so, be chosen by the community. We will be able to send our cat to have its skin implemented into the game. They already did it for the rabbit renamed Toast or simply for this cat skin based on Jeb’s wife’s pet. But we still have a very low amount of information about these new cats, and what it implies for ocelots. But if we can’t answer the questions: “Where will they spawn?” Or “How will we tame them?”, we can still tell that they will be wandering around villages, and bring a morning gift to the player (if tamed, obviously), and that they will scare phantoms away. About the gift, LadyAgnes didn’t exactly tell us what it was exactly, She simply speaked about a “cat” giift which might be a new item that the devs keep in secret. So, clearly, in 1.14 cats will find themselves changed, just about chasing phantoms that, until now, were still pesky mobs. Scaffolding You have been playing Minecraft for 10 years? You still take a ton of time just for a small build? You have no talent with elytras and the “You have experienced kinetic energy” message is part of your daily routine? No worries, Mojang has got the solution for you! Here are the scaffolding blocks! A perfect mix of dev magic and bamboo, Easily installed and quick, allowing you to access all your builds in no time, breaking in one click, it is exactly what you need! “Beware, not accurate footage, reproduced with the strict minimum, which is a mod and a texture pack. All credit goes to PixiGeko.” Hey… My videos keep getting ads out of nowhere! First on Biome Workers, and now here, in Minecraft News?! What a shame! haa, SyraniiX, better back in the day! Anyway, like elytras in 1.9 or shulker boxes in 1.11, here is the useful 1.14 feature that will please every good survival player. Apparently easy to use, fast to climb and quickly removable, the scaffolding block will probably become THE tool when speaking about building. And it requires another new feature: Bamboo! This block probably represents one of these common dreams that finally get real, Like 1.13’s ocean flora and fauna, or concrete blocks with their almost perfect color shading. And I want to make a shoutout: I highly thank Sigma and Manipendeh who spoke with RockAndRoll4Life, a Java developer, and this, the evening right after Minecon. They could polish one or two details that were still blurry in the event like the fact that bamboo will actually appear in Jungle biome variations or the fact that everything announced during Minecon will be part of 1.14. Also, during the video, I will not hesitate using the exclusive information from that dev, Even if we can take them lightly. Back to our bamboo: They will grow in Jungle biomes, from what appears to be bamboo saplings, to get to heights quite not as high as a jungle tree, which gives out nice landscapes. Again thanks to our under-cover agents Mani and Sigma, We can know that bamboo will have a “specific mechanic” for collecting ((Manipendeh here, I do not confirm, it was a misunderstanding)) We do not know what it implies but it seems interesting. ((…)) Furthermore, in the trailer, we can see vines sticking to the bamboo. According to RockAndRoll4Life, this is not a bug, And we could also have ladders on the block as well. It seems weird to me that we can stick vines and ladders like this to bamboo, but maybe it means something regarding scaffolding blocks, who knows? Panda! I, uhm… I really need to express myself on the usefulness of it. I mean… like… In fact… I love it. Ok ok, I know, there are things to say. Pandas are interesting for at least one point: Minecraft’s Chinese version. I don’t want to talk about politics here but we have to keep in mindd that China is, a communism state with one unique party. Well, not quite happy fiesta. And this implies that Minecraft China is a version in itself, a common good avaiable for free in the country. It is a version that we cannot play, like a bubble only for the Chinese people. Anyway, this version represents a huge part of the Minecraft playerbase, half of it to be exact, As it is free and, well, China… It’s populated, right! Which gives us in total 100 million Chinese players! So, these players asked for the Panda to be in the game, and if they can have it, why not let everyone have it? Despite this maybe being propaganda for China and it’s questionable, But, sorry, again, I won’t talk politics here as I’m not qualified for it. Let’s get to the tasty details: Pandas are animals, obviously, quite big, not called “Giant Panda” for nothing, they eat bamboo, which is logic, and they live in the bamboo variation of the Jungle biome. If there are ‘adults’ and ‘child’ pandas, we can also find 4 variations for them called “traits”: First, we have the aggressive pandas. They have these red eyes. We can guess it, they probably won’t be the most adorable, we better avoid any violence if we don’t want to lose an arm or two. Then we have the lazy pandas, as LadyAgnes says, because we don’t see it in the Minecon video. So, yeaah, we don’t really know anything about them… And you’ll see that it’s also the case for the two other traits… The third one is “playful”. Pandas with this trait will tend to roll on the floor while moving their paws. We don’t have any further information about them. And finally, one last rare brown variation for them. And once again no more images and information. But we already know, thanks to RockAndRoll4Life, that pandas will not be tameable. Next, on these images we can see a sneezing baby panda with a small green-ish cloud. Which surprises the adult panda. Probably a reference to this viral video which shows us the same scene in reality. And finally we know that the panda sounds do not come from C418’s cat, but from real pandas, recorded in China. So we know for (almost) sure thanks to RockAndRoll4Life’s informations that among others, cats, scaffolding, bamboo and pandas will come out in 1.14. But the snapshots and the betas will only come near the end of the year, before holidays. But, obviously, 1.14 is not only that, it is also mainly the Village & Pillage Update! Here we come. The theme of 1.14 will be about villages, their inhabitants and their new enemies. Let’s dive right into what was announced! We begin gracefully with: Architecture! If the villages as we know them have their own aspect, we do know that they still are… How can I say it… Ugly. Yes, let’s face it, villages are ugly and furthermore, rather unlogical. All these defects will be fixed with 1.14 that will put in place a complete “rework” of the villages’ architecture, and even the addition of new types like jungle. Let’s get to the details. First we have the classic village, the plains. It still has the same church, But it is probably not the only thing that doesn’t change. We have taller houses, sometimes with a second floor. We can also find other details like balconies or flowers. Other special buildings will be added, we already had the forge, The library and the church but we can now also see a market and a barn. Speaking about barns, we can now see hay bales generated. Speaking of which we can see that the fields were changed too. Speaking of fields, we can also notice the pens, which can be useful at the beginning of a survival game if they’re full of animals. Finally, and I have no transition, we can see the more narrow and natural paths, along with piles of wood. The second and last shown new village design is the desert, which comes through drastic changes. If in the past the desert village was only a sandstone version of plain villages, it is now a whole new type of architecture that takes place over here. The developers got rid of the tilted roofs, as there’s no rain in these lands. We see buttons to add more detail to the building’s walls. There seems to be a good amount of new houses, will various styles. Pumpkins and melons will naturally come to our big-nose friends, We can see those crops in their fields. We still keep the well and we see this big tower which maybe takes place for the church. It has 4 floors and maybe contains trasures, who knows? You couldn’t miss it, more than using smooth sandstone for most of the buildings, we can see new smooth sandstone slabs and stairs, and sandstone walls. It is the logical movement thanks to 1.13 and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more stairs, slabs and walls in the other village types. And I apparently guessed right, because not later than a few seconds ago, I read a tweet from @_LadyAgned who tells us she added diorite stairs! So probably also slabs afterwards! And she keeps going with granite and andesite! It doesn’t stop there! She says the “polished” versions will be there too, and more! But yeah, we have good contents. Yes I record this as I almost finished making the video… It happens… It’s not professionnal… I know, I know… But this also means smooth sandstone blocks will be craftable! If we can make slabs, why not the base blocks? Which basically also means that smooth quartz, Smooth red sandstone as well will be craftable! All good news! Unfortunately only those two villages were showcased. The Taiga and Jungle villages still are unknown! New villagers I don’t talk about new professions here, the 12 existing ones now in 1.13 will stay the same in 1.14. However, just like their village, the apppearance of the villagers will change. Their look will change regarding of the biome for their village and their profession. Which gives us, also counting their zombie villager variations, a good amount of 144 skins to make for 1.14. But don’t worry, Jappa apparently has a solution. Mojang doesn’t do half things, they also plan on changing mechanics for the villagers. They will have a precise schedule regarding of their profession, and an artificial intelligence generally more developed. Obviously, the whole trading system will be reworked, probably to get a more ergonomic look and less mysterious. The “Pillagers” and their “Beasts” Anyway, more than villagers and illagers, the mansions’ inhabitants, we will now also have pillagers, looters in fact, who will attack the villages. Jeb and Agnes said we will have to defend villages against these mean offenders. And mean they shall be! In around 8 individuals groups, these looters will, crossbow in their hands, come to the villages, accompanied by their beast. The name of it isn’t quite chosen yet, Jeb still is looking for one. This beast is, like the devs said, very rough, it will have many health points and will grant critical damage. We can, in a certain way, call them a mini-boss. Furthermore, we can see they like destroying the crops they stomp on. We know, thanks to our under-cover agents, that the beast will break tree leaves in forests. But most importantly, RockAndRoll4Life admitted that there will be a specific place related to these pillagers somewhere in the world. We unfortunately don’t know much else. ((Subtitle maker: Players won’t ride the beasts)) Let’s come back on the pillagers for a moment, which by the way seem to… yes… right here, exactly, Crossbows After 1.13’s trident here is the crossbow joining the rather small arsenal of the game. Dropped by pillagers or crafted by the player, this weapon, bow type, will inflict more damage than them and be thrown further away, but the reload time will last for much longer. We will have to see which weapon we want to fight with. Furthermore, the crossbow will use the same arrows the bow use, which is, if not realistic, because crossbows would normally use bolts, At least gives a use to the arrows, because with Infinity, a single one was enough in the inventory to be pleased. Because that’s right, the crossbows don’t have the Infinity enchantment. The weapon in fact does not have any enchantment in common withe bow, except for Unbreaking and Mending. It will come with 3 enchantments, exclusive to it! First one, “fast load”, will allow us to reload the crossbow faster. Second one, “multi-shot”, will allow us to shoot, according to Minecon’s example, 3 arrows at once! And there’s a third mysterious one that we will probably get to know in the snapshots. Along with this will come a funny mechanic, more than a useful one. A bit like 1.9’s tipped arrows, the crossbow will be able to shoot fireworks horizontally, if placed in the off-hand. What’s good with this addition is that on Minecraft, everyone has fireworks to be able to move around with Elytras, So it is very likely that we get to use this feature regularly. Unlike Tipped Arrows *cough cough* The crossbow also comes with an interesting tweak to it which will give it more advantage than bows, we can keep arrows in it! Which means that once the weapon is reloaded, You can stock it in your inventory or even in chests, and take it out when you need it and shoot with it immediatly! Just like the real weapon! Oh! And another information, it sounds like it is already fully developed, which confirms that the devs didn’t do nothing during the summer, which is good… Yeah. So that’s what we know about 1.14 and — God: “AHEM AHEM, aren’t you forgetting something?” SyraniiX: “I.. Uhm, who are you?” God: “Mind your business, tell us which biome was chosen!” SyraniiX: “Oooh, this! I was about to do it, obviously :’)” God: “Uh huh, of course!” God: “My eye on a parachute!” So yeah, like last year there was another vote, this time, unlike last Minecon’s mobs, both choices were going to make it into the game anyway, the vote only decides which one comes first. Let me remind you that we had to choose between Taiga, Savannah, and Desert, Which one of them gets to be updated first. And before talking about the result, I would like to quickly go over the vote itself. I was very surprised by the amount of voting for it. Last year, remember, only 2,500 people participated. This year, It is more than 50,000 individuals that took part of the game, this number is huge and confirms that the community is getting used to this new Minecon format. God: “Yeah, or the tweet just got viral for no reason” SyraniiX: “It is possible, but I like it the other way :<”
Anyway. Let’s get to the winner, and this time it was by far, effectively the Taiga made it with more than 60% on both rounds. It is much less close than last year, but we can get it, Taiga is extremely empty, even compared to Savannah that, at least, has an interesting generation and llamas.
Llamas are fun. I’m getting lost! The Taiga biome will have an update in 1.14 with foxes, berries and firecamps! Even if neutral seems the most logical, Jeb tells it: We don’t know if foxes will be passive, neutral or aggressive. We could deduct more from the trailer,
But I won’t because first Jappa clearly said it was only visuals that we can find in these videos, and it gives nothing about the future of the game, and then because DavLec already made theories about everything we could have made theories about, I won’t steal that from him! Wink, wink! Our internal sources, aka Mani and Sigma, told us about RockAndRoll4Life’s words that basically mean that the dev team works on more than what was showcased during Minecon for the biomes. So, there we go, that is 1.14. Pandas, bamboo, cats, scaffolding, villages, pillagers, villagers, beasts, raids, crossbows,
Foxes, berries, campfires, and very likely much more! But before talking about bonus news, let’s talk about 1.15, 1.16 and future updates. We could hear a bit about them from RockAndRoll4Life, but also thanks to the developers’ panel that occured right after the show. First we know about a rework on dispensers,
Which maybe means we can move them with pistons, and probably more in fact. Also, during the panel, we learned about a similar rework around minecarts. And even if ideas like controlling the Minecart speed or the power of Minecart TNT sound pleasing to them, I think we should take this information lightly again.
We do not know much about this rework. And a third rework is announced, this time about redstone performances. Without getting into too much detail, redstone actually consumes a huge lot in performances and could, with simples fixes, be drastically less frightening for map-makers. During Minecon itself, we could also know
A test map for creative mode “Inspiration Island” will be avaiable for free on the marketplace. And that the same way, yesterday, the map for the mini-game “Grid Runner” should also show up for free. Woow… We get to the last informations, and it’s not as interesting… But… Anyway, let’s continue!
Add-ons, on Bedrock version, will be updated. We will now be able to properly create entities with tons of new options. We clearly get to the Java mods level on this side. If we get back to the dev panel, we can confirm that 1.14 and all the following updates will follow
A similar method for development as for 1.13… Great! FU**ING BOTTLE CAP! *OOF* …will follow a similar method for development as for 1.13 by separating the work equally between the Redmond studio, and the Stockholm studio. As for 1.13 the release dates should also be the same on both versions.
Then we learn that the Super Duper Pack are still being worked on. Which… doesn’t change much..? New minerals, slabs, walls, stairs, new dimensions, a more fine weather, new redstone components,
Clearly the devs are ready to add all of it but we will have to leave them the time to think about the best way to do it. Finally, now that the two versions got to about the same point,
We know that Mojang would like to make a proper way to load our Java worlds on Bedrock and the other way round as well. Oh, yeah, RockAndRoll4Life said he wanted to finally push the Y axis’ block limit. ((Not in 1.14)) Yeah, that’s right, haha
Even if yeah, Minecon Earth was, how can I place it… Thank you, I couldn’t say better! God: “One image is worth a thousand words” That’s right! And despite that effectively, this year has as many new features as last year, theey are much more spread around and, let’s face it,
Are part of a theme that… uhm… speaks much less than oceans. Villages are cool, right, but I doubt the community will be as hyped as for 1.13 that had this very strong theme to it. The other problem, which also makes many say that 1.14 isn’t as interesting is that, still comparing to 1.13,
It is difficult to imagine what the version will be like. While the Aquatic Update showcased last year was simpler to imagine because many of us already had tons of ideas for the oceans, it is clear that it’s not that simple for 1.14, try to imagine right now what the devs could add. Hard?
Yeah! That’s the problem, 1.14 can be as polished as 1.13, it is less brain-friendly. Anyway, despite all the bad parts, it was quite cool, like I said in the last Minecraft News, more than just the cringe, it was mainly good ambiance and a cool moment spent with friends that dominated this evening.
– And the news! And the news, yeah, right, the news… French Subtitles: Jeff Wooden English Subtitles/Translation: Manipendeh (yeah, again) Like I promised, you will have very quickly a video about Minecraft: Dungeons, I hope in a week, then I’ll try releasing this 29th episode of the Let’s Play, don’t worry, one day it’ll come.
And that’s all for today, come check out the Discord, on Twitch or Twitter, where I announce many things on upcoming videos for example, Anyway, I won’t take any longer, goodbye! o/ 😉 Video Information
