Thorns is left out of most players gear sets as it turns out if you put Thorns only on your chest plate and leggings the helmet will still break first essentially meaning you’ll still last as long as everyone else in the fight while still having the benefits of thorns you

Will probably need to use a bit more experience point to mend your chestplate and leggings each time so it’s really up to you to decide whether it’s worth the extra experience cost when it comes to protection enchantments there are several to choose from and more often
