This feels strange i’m playing minecraft and everything sort of looks similar but it feels different this is not my minecraft this is minecraft bedrock minecraft windows 10 edition why am i moving so fast you know what i’m not even gonna complain this is awesome i can just shoot around so in case it Wasn’t glaringly obvious from that clip i don’t play this version of minecraft very often i’m normally a java minecraft player but bedrock minecraft has some very new blocks that have been introduced right how do i navigate this oh look there we go look we’ve got oh we’ve got wow There’s menus in menus okay so we’ve got skulk bits and bobs now the ones that i’m most interested in today are the skulk catalyst and also the skulk block and potentially the skulk vein although i’m not sure you see the thing is if i break this skulk block here you see that I got a little bit of xp and the absolutely crazy thing about these skulk blocks is that they generate when a mob dies near that skull catalyst there so that means that we can create an xp storage farm or at least i hope we can i I intend on making an xp storage farm in today’s video so without further ado let’s get to work first things first how much does this stuff actually spread okay that’s actually quite a bit all right that is interesting and if another one dies pretty much on top of it Okay so i think but just judging by this very tiny little experiment here it seems to be on average the entire thing is five blocks wide but it definitely focuses on like a three by three area i almost feel like you can guarantee a three by three area here That’s probably too far away now the next pure curiosity thing is if it gets exploded with tnt do we still get the xp from it [Laughter] okay that that’s really interesting and totally unexpected that is that is not what i expected now the next big question which is very Important i hadn’t even thought of thank goodness thank goodness you can actually push these things with pistons otherwise this whole video would have been pointless so we have all the building blocks let’s get to work on building now the way that i’m actually going to get my mobs for Killing is of course making use of one of these mob spawners right here and i’ve got it inside of a tinted glass chamber which is just fantastic tinted glass is by far one of the coolest additions to minecraft lately however that original cube that i made was a Tiny bit small so i’ve extended it down and i want to see what happens when we fill up this entire area with the skulk blocks and the answer is it gets less and less efficient the more skulk blocks there are as this platform fills up with sculpt blocks with every Zombie that dies there’s less and less chance that it is going to try and convert a stone block into a sculpt block and that means that we’re not going to be getting much xp over time so instead of having a big platform like this i have to have a concentrated small Platform that we swap out often and that means that i’m doing something that i haven’t done for a very very long time indeed which is creating a water-based mob farm and apparently doing it wrong yeah i’m doing this very wrong there we go there it is So our little guys are going to float into the center and then they’re going to stand on top of this trap door right here and this trap door is going to be limiting the speed at which the zombies can fall down onto our little stone platform so that we make sure that every Single time a zombie lands there’s a fresh lot of stone underneath them so they can convert all of that stone into the skulk blocks which should help to maximize the efficiency of this farm listen to me sounding all technical and things so this is the little redstone Clock that is going to be opening and closing our trap door i have no idea how long it needs to be between pulses i also have no idea if one tick is going to be enough for this zombie to get through it is that has that question has just been answered About as quickly as a question can be answered but unfortunately the next problem is when you get more than a handful of zombies in they all push each other off the trapdoor and it prevents any of them from getting through okay gonna have to go back to the Drawing board a bit here and after working my way through a handful of ideas that didn’t work i have faith in this one yes yes this is the system this is the system what a win after watching for the best part of 20 minutes i would say most Of the time a zombie will actually drop through the trap door so we have a pretty good rate there next plan of action i need to detect if a zombie has actually fallen through the trap door which i mean a tripwire seems like a pretty Good way to do that that’s kind of what they’re there for and if a zombie has fallen through the trapdoor then i guess that will send a message down to our stone generator to tell it to generate more stone to push the skull blocks out of the way yeah i mean That should be it like that’s the majority of the system i watched luca last night the new pixar film this literally looks like the dad from luca if i remember i’ll put an image on the screen right now if not just remind me that i’m a down in the comment Section anyway now it is time for our stone generator and if i remember correctly bedrock has this amazing feature that allows you to waterlog pistons which means that the water for the stone generator can actually be stored inside of the piston which for a java minecraft player is potentially incredibly Mind-bending so let’s have a look if i write what on earth what’s on earth and that that’s oh that’s so cool oh that is so cool why don’t we have this in in java that is the coolest thing ever that is so cool sorry i had to stand up And walk around for that one it’s not very often that minecraft features caused me to get up out of my chair but this is one of those minecraft features that has caused me to get up out of my chair this is wicked so if i’m not mistaken i mean this should be Yep there we go that is our stone generator and obviously there is no way that the lava could affect our water because the water is inside the pistons this is fantastic and now i have connected it all up to a redstone clock so this should now be automatically generating stone The only thing that i will say about bedrock is that the stone generation is not consistent like it is in java so that’s why i’ve gone for this redstone clock as opposed to a 30 tick one but this is still fine and now i’ve sped it up just a tiny bit And i would say this is plenty fast enough for what we’re going to be using it for so with our redstone clock now connected to the tripwire i think it’s worth doing a quick test just to see what happens when we start getting zombies into this thing just to Warn you this could totally not work all right so that goes down there’s no skull catalyst down there oh what a fail there were a number of other issues with it but now that i have the actual essential item that is required for this thing to work and i’ve Also moved the stone generator around a little bit so we can actually generate the skulk in the stone that the generator is generating goodness gracious me i’m not sure that was english okay so we have some zombies in the system let’s see what happens when this guy drops through so the clock starts And the skulk has been generated replacement stone has also come in this is actually working this is actually working and it seems to be working pretty good i mean we’ve got like a hole we’ve got like a whole thing of skulk look at all this skulk that we’ve generated we’ve generated maximum skulk Well this is this is a fantastic start this is a really fantastic start you can tell that it’s fantastic because my voice went really high my voice goes really high when things are fantastic if you hear me talking like this then you know things haven’t gone well right next Stage of the process is to build up the bulk storage of all of these xp blocks and to make life easier i’m actually going to split this thing up into three separate sets of bulk storage instead of trying to funnel all of them into one this is both me being lazy but also Giving us more room for xp so i suppose it could be seen as an improvement and i for one am very glad to see that this seems to be working really quite nicely this actually does function i always have to check because bedrock is weird and now i Have our push across smart pistons that’s looking good and now i have one of the big push across smart piston walls so this is going to be one of the areas for our skulk block xp storage it’s going to be pretty big and then we’re going to have another one heading off in This direction and that is going to look ah there’s not enough space so that means all of this needs to go as well after a surprisingly small amount of work in terms of reconstruction this is now in place and it looks wicked it looks so so cool and now with all three In place i think i might have just gone to heaven because these are my source of redstone contraptions for some reason i just think they look epic but with the addition of that that should actually be the entire thing all fully completed and constructed so here comes the incredibly terrifying Moment where i actually need to test this thing backups have been made i think i hope i don’t really understand how bedrock works and now i just need to stand next to this block right here for an extended period of time and see what happens underneath oh goodness gracious me it’s already Starting the first zombie has fallen down we have got our skulk blocks and they are being they are being moved about so now we wait and we wait to see what exactly happens here and the big question that i have is is there going to be any stone That makes his way into the system or are we going to manage 100 skull kids i gotta say everything’s looking pretty promising so far i mean things seem to be moving in the right direction this is fantastic news and now we have our first full layers of skulk i Mean this this all seems to be going remarkably remarkably well and after half an hour this is where we’re at with our skulk block storage which i have to say looks really quite impressive firstly i’m just chuffed a bit this actually worked the proof of concept is functioning And all of the components came together to actually have it do what it was supposed to do which was not 100 expected given this is one of my first larger bedrock minecraft builds so i’m very proud of what i’ve managed to achieve here now i’m incredibly curious How well this works so i’ve got an efficiency 5 ho and i have myself an unbreaking 3 mending elytra and we’re going to see if we can repair these things making use of skulk blocks alone here goes we start breaking the blocks and things are sounding good i mean this Is very very satisfying indeed is it actually repairing very much yes it actually is this is actually a lot of xp here hold up dude this my elites are almost fully repaired and i’ve not even made my way through the first chuck my elites are repaired my elytra are repaired and this is That’s like oh my goodness this is actually epic this is amazing this is fantastic so just taking out that one chunk of the three chunks of blocks that we have has got me up to level 23 and it’s fully repaired my elytra as well i mean that that is great you could go Afk for a few hours while you’re doing something else and then just have xp stored somewhere in your base it’s just stored there ready for you to access whenever you need to access it whether it is to repair a tool or whether it’s to get some levels and this is genuinely This is genuinely really really useful and actually not that complicated either this is wow i am i am really really chuffed a bit of this i started this project as like a fun project i just thought it would be an interesting thing to build but it’s turned out to actually be Incredibly incredibly useful so yeah there we go i’m so pleased i’m actually i’m smiling from here to here this is very interesting i look forward to playing more with the deep dark stuff in the near future because it’s all completely wild anyway i hope that you enjoyed this little register video and I’ll catch you in the next one see ya Video Information
