Master Lightning with This Easy Minecraft Rod!

Hello everybody welcome to my channel my name is jd and today we’re doing another easy minecraft tutorial this time we’re going to take a look at how to craft and use a lightning rod uh lightning rods were introduced in java snapshot 20w45a and are for of course version 1.17

For both java and bedrock but at the moment of this recording it is only available on java so we’re going to take a look at how to make this thing it’s actually really really simple you just need three copper ingots in a vertical column like this and there it is

So what does a lightning rod do well basically it just draws lightning towards it it is especially useful with wooden houses if lightning struck this it would burn but if you have a lightning rod on it it attracts the lightning and it will not burn the house however i’m gonna use a

Channeling trident and i’ll show you what happens during a thunderstorm now i need to find an animal somewhere so i think we’ll take this cow for example so hello let’s turn on the weather so we got thunder now so if we do this well there’s some lightning but if we put this

On the house so let’s put it on input anywhere i think i’m just gonna break this and put it right here and let’s get some lightning there we go you see it’s not on fire unfortunately we can’t will the lightning to strike anything uh but with the channeling trident we can

But i want to mention something uh the lightning rod does have redstone properties however it only works if it’s natural lightning not with a channeling trident if i want lightning to turn on that lamp well this is not gonna work they can see no redstone signal at all so i would need natural

Lightning to hit it and i’m not sure if i’m patient enough just to wait for this the lightning rods redirect lightning in a 16 by 4 by 16 block area or volume i should say around the top of the lightning rod so let’s say i hit that well we’ve got some wonderful

Wonderful uh things happening here we hit that look at that wow we’ve got a bunch of charged creepers what does that mean charge creeper farm anyone how do you think you would make it i really don’t know how long this is going to take but

You know what i’m not going to wait so i’ll just say again when lightning strikes a lightning rod it gives off a redstone signal lightning rods can be placed in three different configurations of course vertically you can even place them end to end if you want you can place them horizontally

And you can place them upside down going down now this has some i guess some possibilities it kind of does look like copper piping doesn’t it so you could use this to look like copper pipes but let me know how else you think that these could be used

Do you think copper pipe is the only thing if you want to break a lightning rod you need to use a pickaxe and it must be a stone pickaxe or better a wooden pickaxe and a golden pickaxe will not work it won’t drop anything so you just break it and there you go
