Hi guys and welcome back to another world painter tutorial so in this episode what we’re gonna be doing is cliffs we’re gonna be going over all like the different kind of things you can do if cliffs how you actually make them look pretty good that will also Include sea stacks as well which is where you’ve kind of had like a bit of a cliff is left can I stick it up like a little pillow type thing I don’t know if that’s probably really bad explanation but what I’m gonna be doing is continuing on with the map that I’ve Been working on is the one that we kind of went on from episode free where we’re talking about planning and there’s couple nice natural places where I actually can see where there’ll be some very nice cliffs especially on these kind like edges where I’m not planning On to having it any rivers so those can be a lot higher so we’re just gonna be doing this little section here so what I’ve already done is I’ve actually pulled out some of the terrain just a little bit make sure it’s you know quite relatively smooth so it doesn’t just Have that like the steeper cut off like I’ve got over here so we’ve got like this nice area here so what i would definitely recommend doing is actually jumping into at that map so rendering out just a small area of that map so that’s what i’ve done here and of course Mines very very flat but this is the kind of area that i’m looking at it is pretty big on mine because i’m doing a really quite large map as you can see i mean this is quite huge in in candlelight sizes but what i would then Have a look at doing is how big you actually want your clips to be so i’m gonna have like relatively small cliffs on this kind of site i’ll probably end up making them bigger but just use some orange wool all or whatever really just to kind of build that up obviously Wenzel may not sound as well with a minute but that’s that 63 is the levels of actually seem to have a render distance so far which you probably want it on just normal there we go so yeah i’m going for like 63 probably to be fair 65 because for some reason I like Multiples of 5 I’ll probably go for something like that so that’s where my clips are gonna be on this side so there we go let’s get out of that what you also want to think about whenever you doing cliffs is also beaches so where would you actually naturally have any Beaches now I think I’m probably gonna end up having a river going into this one but we could for example you know how this is a beach actually smooth out this side and actually have a beach there and maybe have a cliff on the other side or something like that the Same again here we could probably just have a nice like beach in this bit and have some more cliffs and again here we can have this entire area as a beach so do plan out those kind of areas but anyway getting on to doing the cliffs so If you don’t do your height kind of tool we’re gonna go four and there is actually some cliff brushes in the pack I’m actually gonna give these a go I haven’t even tried these out yet so multi closer I’m just gonna go one called cliff and I’m not too sure about This one this one it’s crazy this fuelled like one so gonna go with that one we’re gonna go for your intensity of probably around 25 I want a lot of control over this and then what I’m gonna do is do at or below and we have 65 those are kinda like block area and that’s gonna reset the intensity as it always does it’s a little bit annoying but you know whatever so there we go well come on down to it right okay so I’m gonna do is I’m gonna start with like a bigger brush here I’m Just gonna move out yeah so I’m just wipe me intensity up just to get this like area here this is where I’m gonna be working with it’s that site they’re not this is why I was thinking about having a beach and I should have a beach on this side as well So let’s do that I submit this got here that feels like it’s going more than 65 but it’s not no it’s not at all so I guess raise this up just to get my slope base on this build up I’m actually gonna zoom in even crazier and even more let’s Build this up should start to get as we drag out should start getting cliffs to appear to be quite nice there we go I’m just in a white intensity up a tiny little bit more just to get a bit faster what you want to be a careful with is That if you have the intensity up too high you’ll just have this like just sudden wall and it will look really kind of a bit odd I’m actually gonna use this but here though so I’m actually gonna have like where it’s falling apart its eroded on this side and then it’s all on Warm that bit there we go okay this here almost like beach carpet here this needs to be a little bit more admit it looks a little bit too rounded so I’m just gonna I rode it in a way as well of you guys so can have like stronger bits of the Base of it and weaker bits of it as well there we go so there that and I’m gonna have this going at most of the way through the middle this where it’s going to be raised up I’m just gonna join it to this area here so then I know where I’ve got this Beach right okay and yes it does take a long time so one of the things that I think people don’t realize the world painter is that if you’re doing a big map it really really does take quite a long time to get but this is a very nice-looking Beach here This definitely so I have the same kind of thing on this site as well we can always erode the middle part of it it’s a lot easier once you’ve got that that kinda like flat area you can then use a nice brush to actually come and I’m Gonna do the same over here so I do recommend you know working with like beaches and cliffs in like together it will give you a really good kind of idea of what you want to do you’ll be able to like you know understand what you’re looking for you have the actual style That you can are looking for up so not the stuff what am I trying to say I’m trying to say that you what you’ll be able to do with splitting it up this way is you got to work in little sections so you won’t have to do it all in one go Instead we can just work on like this small area here we know that I actually of this Peninsula which is all the way down here it’s only this bit we’ve got to like quite cool looking beaches we’ve even have you know this actually almost like separated out says give me like a Nice little bit into here and yep now this looks terrible so we’re just gonna bring us around here on this beach this is not too bad over here I’m just gonna road a little bit more as well this so it’s almost like it really has Been whoops I wrote it I think it was get back there okay so now what we want to do for for these is actually put in a couple bits of material so this will help with figuring out everything like what everything looks like is always really difficult at first so okay we’re Gonna go with some really basic materials first we’re going to come in later on and actually do some other have a kind of stuff where is the gravel gravel so gonna go for sorry when he’s gone to paint and then when he’s gone gravel already collected on wrong one Which is that one and we’re gonna do is do except on now I need to move this brush because this is a filled up the screen already II come on okay wait to the site and we can do above 35 degrees and we don’t really worry about need to Worry about it being underwater tool so get everything it’s under over 35 degrees won’t be gravel and now and if we just grab the default rock we’ve got rock and cobblestone we’re gonna do custom rocks later on actually probably probably in this in this video we’ll do Some custom rocks so about 45 degrees I think I’ve put in some rock and actually below 35 and at or above 53 and we’re gonna pepper that actually no we won’t for that will go for 55 don’t feather and we’re gonna actually have just grass or flowers yeah so shove that in there Just so we get some grass in like that I mean you can use feather but it doesn’t do anything on this this is why I’m not just like guys no no real point doing it okay for the Spree Can Tho next I’m gonna do is going to go at or above 50 Free I think and then what we’re gonna do is without DB it’s pretty counting this that’s just a tryin mixes in on though I did a lot better job in at the first kind of episode where we were doing this there we go now at least we Can actually have a look at this so what would do is if we render this out we can then at least have a good look so I’m just gonna do it sport no map I think I went for quite a big area or actually want to get initially yes you have time For like this huge area I don’t need that I don’t need that don’t need any of this water so I can just go have a nice 10 square 10 squares that’s a bit odd but dunno we’ll have a quick look at this and then We can kind of see what we want to do if it’s high enough but do test it you know don’t go for these gigantic areas because um it’s one of the mistakes you’ll make is is by trying to do these huge areas not realizing just how big The actual area is there we go I doesn’t look too bad so that’s giving us some nice cliffs we’ve got some nice bits of grass on sorry sand down there this grass bit here dreadful but that’s obviously fine but that doesn’t look too bad for a beach Actually it needs to be smoothed out but you can kind of see the kind of what we’ve got which is exactly what I wanted but we do need to you’re just need to move a house we get like a couple layers and we’ve got like mixing in which is Always good and then on this one can a similar actually that one actually I think it looks better I think this one does look a lot better so I’m gonna see where naturally that one actually happen and I’ve also got that single C stack by Itself I kind of like it so I think goes high with the uplands but idea been that was cliffs here and it’s all roaded away but this for some reason this rock is a little bit harder so if we talk about the materials that you actually want to Do for for these basically you want to try and build a pallet it’s the same as I don’t have anybody’s watching my my collecting on roads you want to start off with some sort of base material so for example stone if we just do a 4×4 Shall do five so if we do five like this so you start off with some sort of base material that’s gonna be your main material then you end up with some sort of variation in there which is very similar in color so I have something Like that and we’ve got a lot of hatched a huge amount of colors in Minecraft these days I mean we could use something like grey oops great I think it’s too dark for it personally I don’t think it’s gonna work unless we have it near the water and we Can have it make it look like wet rock would be the only thing but I think it’s not gonna really work and also with the water with concrete powder it’s instantly gonna change as well so the nice mechanic there that makes it doesn’t make it really work let’s have a Look at those let’s go for it like great let’s grab that it’s also grab some cyan as well we’ve got anything else like great concrete cyan no we don’t not really so I mean yeah the like concrete kind of works I am again it looks a bit Dark so we’re gonna go with like andesite what else do we go for I think probably cobblestone is a good idea so you actually have this I’ve mixed in a tiny little bit and you might also want I don’t think we really want a lot of The moss stone but we could have a little bit of it so we could end up you know just having a tiny tiny tiny bit of a variation in the Moss stone to actually create this so I DS wise what we got and some pretty straw is one con 5 Because I messed it up so I have mostly stone a little bit under sight little bit cobblestone add a tiny tiny tiny bit of moss stone so how do we actually make those as a custom material well it’s nice and easy when you’re on your terrain and I click on the pencil there When you’re on your terrain you just click on this button down the bottom here add a new custom train create custom material we’re gonna call this cliff it’s nice and easy then you go on to complex because you don’t simple simple as if you have a single material Though we’re doing multiple material so we want complex and there we go we have stone as the block ID now which is one stone obviously that is disappearing in 113 we won’t have any what we don’t have any block IDs and I didn’t know they had Look up look up these and theta values that takes you to a website actually that’s something I didn’t even realize exists so that’s really gonna be quite useful for finding out the stone which we had that’s all the biomes I’m not too worried about that oh no it’s that going To show so at least you can actually have a look on it at least for 112 but I’m pretty sure we know what they are so we’re gonna go one and a datafile you’ve been 5/4 andesite and I’m gonna add in our cobblestone and then finally we’re gonna add in our Moss stone mossy cobblestone they used to always be called Moss stone so what we’ve got the minute we’ve got this count which is the percentage just you do get this kind of like thing over here you can do blob so you can actually group it together that’s where you get Like all like these will blob together in like single materials sometimes that looks a lot better but it’s mostly better when you have like fewer materials I find if you’ve got something where you’ve got a main material like we’re gonna have a stone I actually find Noise is quite nice you can also do layers which layers is like your you’re gonna brace Mesa Toby folk so we’re gonna go a knows anyway we’re gonna go for count we’re gonna do up to we’re going to do 20 we’re going 200 there we Go 20 is what gonna go for hit enter we’re then gonna have stone or andesite is gonna be the next one which is going to be probably want yeah I’m gonna switch that to 30 and do try these out because it’s amazing how what you don’t realize how much something like I’ll go for seven I think seven and then this Mauston I’m going for one okay so let’s give that a go so at least then we can see most the stone in there and then we got the andesite and things like that so we just do okay you can Give it a custom color this becomes really useful if you’ve got moderate blocks because they won’t show up if they’re they’re just default ones you actually get it looking like what it should look like color wise so if we just go onto that now we got the custom Material here which is cliff we’ve clicked on it we we’re gonna have this above 45 degrees oh it’s also saving that so is useful and we don’t care about after above rings out that so just above 45 degrees and I’m just gonna get a big Brush – Shh knocking – there you See every time we click it also variates it as well so this is why it’s really really cool you can see those like different blocks going in there so if we just render off this just have a look at that materials see if we need to you know change anything actually before I Do that I want to find out where this temp now it’s that down there okay well we don’t need to render out that one so do be careful that you can use the clear old tiles button as well which is really really useful for that kind of stuff just just getting rid of Any tiles that you don’t know where they were that one was pretty close and I don’t have any excuse of missing that till right okay so here we go so there is our material that doesn’t look too bad I think we need even less Moss stone So the only way we can really do that is by turning up everything else in the wall but apart from that that doesn’t look that bad I think maybe less cobblestone as well I think I mean the cobblestone it looks okay but I’m not too sure about it and also maybe with The gravel will actually mix in gravel and I think something like hmm I don’t know about course dirt because of the lower bits near here we probably probably want something else I want it to be quite rocky I think dirt won’t look quite right and we also need to Smooth out this so let’s actually get on to those two bit so we’ll fix that I’m also going to let’s move out as well so we go yeah that let’s get back onto here what to do to edit it good example of editing right click on the terrain and Go on to edit custom material that stone we’re going to whack up to 40 I’m actually gonna knock this one up to 18 or something because it looked very good in there I think it did and we’re gonna keep it that at we’re gonna put That down to five I think yeah five will do do okay on that that automatically you don’t have to do anything because it’s ER because it’s a like a layer on top of it it’s it’s you know it’s like set it’s really good I mean it could do If you want to if you want to yeah click on it it doesn’t really matter but you don’t really need to from what I understand so let’s move out these beaches then and we will have to repaint it but that doesn’t really matter too Much so what we can do is we can use the smooth tool yeah really good so we’re gonna go for actually one of the default brushes for this just a zoom right in we don’t want anything like that we just want to just do some smoothing so yeah We got our Smoove we’ve got it on this circle here there we go that’s good then we can actually starts movement I need to turn the intensity way down wow that’s so intense then I guess let’s move that out so that out and smooth all this out as well it’s really difficult To tell as well you’ll find there we go so that’ll do and then here do just smooth that out there we go you can see it then working its magic and I’m not so sure about this one here vert there we go we can smooth that out and pull it Through let’s move that bit out this moves that way out there like that at least follows the beach a little bit just move that down even across the underneath of water I mean the underwater stuff I don’t really worry about too much because it’s a lot more Difficult to tell but there we go you can do some of that and of course you could then repaint it if you wanted to I do repaint it but you don’t always have to do sometimes actually that’s quite good when you got like here I think this Will look quite good with I’m just gonna re just undo that a little bit that’s gonna smooth that out tiny Badgley yeah I think it looks quite good with bits of the grass and things especially on this this speech here because it has got this Grass you can a hill going into it we don’t have as much of like a steep kind of like a little bit of a cliff going around it so we can actually mix that all in I think that looks pretty damn good so there we go so that’s the nice first Kind of cliff that we’re actually gonna be doing we are going to be doing another one where we have more of like a terraced kind of look so let’s go to that okay so what gonna do now is a little bit more of like terraced type Cliffs so the way that we do this is quite nice and easy same thing we’re raising lower also this time I’m actually using a Mesa brush actually I should say that so I actually isn’t the Mesa small brush which is underneath Mesa and I’m actually gonna do at or below 50 so I’m Gonna start with that’s not right 50s to low that’s what would go up here or below 60 so let’s go 16 not 50 boys I’m not gonna do anything I’m just gonna have the intensity quite high on this one just gonna raise this up I’m gonna Build the same kind of thing we did before we just build this kind of area I’m not gonna have any beaches on this side of it you still got cliffs but for this part at least actually you want to just undo that but I didn’t like that Then like how that was turning out then and that will happen sometimes you end up like brushing something and you just you just won’t be happy with it there we go so we get something like that right so we actually literally build a normal cliff pretty much and we’re not really Worrying about it then you’re just gonna step it up right is as simple as that so gonna go for 75 I’m just gonna start building up on this and actually gonna have it where it’s almost got like this second level of cliffs now I’m gonna Have some of them go right to the edge here I was like here it’s small so it’s broken really broken apart or been eroded over time we should get it’s quite a cool looking almost like a double cliff in a way went quite low like a double cliff but you know I mean You’ll have this kind of um extra ring around it because of the way that we’ve done it you can see these two lines here which is nice and clear let’s bring that ribs are there as well oh yeah and let’s just bring that right into there and I’ll probably have this as a nice long beach on this side so I’ll probably end up no just knocking that in there like that okay so I have the end of it there so let’s just paint it very quickly so again we’ll go with our go onto the Pencil you go onto terrain we’re going to just use gravel for now we do need to make a custom gravel and then we gonna do above 45 degrees and she just get grass first whoops that’s already on the Watersafe there we go so let’s get grass first and we’ll do Below 35 degrees and I think we didn’t actually do we just actually do it not on water but that’s fine only on land let’s go for that one as well that was really useful well no and I know why we didn’t do it on before it’s because we Used above above 50 free I think we did 55 when we say go that’s why we didn’t need to do it earlier I’ll sing in wait something’s wrong here but yeah if you do that obviously it’s a buffalo anyway so there we go so now it’s do it above 435 degrees Gravel just get like in there for that bit and then we’re gone to our layers you’ll notice where your custom layers all this new tab down the bottom after you’ve created those so click on that one will go onto this rock we’ve got on we went for above 45 degrees on this and Just like that intensity right up so we can just do it I’m one stroke and then we can do the same thing again if you want to below 35 where we have spray can and then we actually just spray in some grass there is sprains and grass below That also or above 53 so it’s not too too high something doesn’t seem right with this what’s going on don’t click on that would you free although that oh it’s good it’s too big that’s why but the brush was so big that I couldn’t see It so I was freaking me out then see where is it where is it but it obviously it was there so I guess not like that will do right so now if we render out this and what I’m actually gonna do though and what I should have done is Smooth this out a bit so I’m just gonna use where as the hills excuse one of these softer ones and why is that not work and ask someone the spray can there we go get off that icon two hills icon for this okay we get a little bit more hilly terrain Obviously we’ve got this clip on this side that’s not gonna actually exist but there we go that’ll just hurry that up a bit a little bit I’m gonna go for that smooth again I’m gonna go over this nice smooth circular one if you go over the Circular one it does make it very very smooth so you know depending on what brush use will depend on the actual well literally the smoothness that you get of it as you kind of expect so I’m just gonna click clear clear selection I’m just gonna grab sorry here you just cut That down a little bit there we go just render that out well have a quick look at this though it should be pretty much done that for cliffs I think obviously I need to do the entire map which is gonna be a lot of fun it does take you quite a While to do this but it’s really important to do I guess that’s have a look at this first so there we go you get this kind of like more terrorist tunnel look to it obviously this is more because we have this bit can I was sticking out and then we have this then You got this cliff here where we brought it right to the edge then you get these like lower bits so that’s the way you can kind of do it it’s it does take a lot of playing around pit I like this bit though where that is a that’s kind Of what I was wanting actually so I mean this is a little bit too much that lended up at grass that is exactly what I wanted I really like this bit here this bit where it’s sticking out over on the ground here I mean that looks quite Cool and then here as well we’ve got this like more natural place here and then we’ve got nothing else in the rest of our train because it’s completely empty at a minute so there we go but that’s quite a nice high cliff level as well something that’s a lot bigger than The other ones we’ve got so we can actually have you know do create variation with your cliffs don’t just go with them all be in the same height what you want to do is kind of no change it up as well so what I’m gonna be doing Anyway is joining all of this together what I do advise you guys do is wherever you’re kind of like level is I know that we were going early er what we’re going with we’re going with 65 is what we’re going with from that so what you could end up doing after you’ve done Everything you could even use quite harsh brush actually in between everything you can end up again you know going quite harsh going out or below 65 and you create your entire island then gets raised up so you end up with something like this right so you’ll end up just like dragging All of this here and then you can build your mountains on top and I’ll see your rivers and everything like that we will talk a little bit more specifically about rivers so you know I’m just gonna be doing around everything so I’m gonna have you know cliffs going here I’m Gonna have them and they’re probably my cliffs will end here and I’ll just leave it like that but yeah you can then see just join these up together so they’ve then got this single platform to then start building on top of again we’ve got yeah rivers and things like That I mean we can always knock down these bits moving not like that like that was a little bit extreme but maybe do or above 50 if you’re gonna reduce as well because then you can go down to that single flight way or that you had It initially so then you can at least you know build this nice base platform for everything to sit on which will be quite cool but hopefully that’s giving you guys some nice ideas on how to do cliffs obviously we’ve got well I’ve got a lot to do on this map so I’m literally Gonna be spending probably the next four hours or something like that just building it it will take you time but yeah get your beaches as well beaches are really nice and natural also do make sure that you have low areas obviously not your map is not just gonna be cliffs And beaches you’re gonna also just have naturally low areas where you will have some beaches in there but yeah you don’t have to have it everything up really really high especially for any city areas because what you want with your city areas you probably want them it Only to be like maybe a max of five blocks above the water so then you can bro build a really nice waterfront that’s not going to be doing here I’m probably gonna have higher cliffs on some of these sides but actually the inner Bay is gonna be really low so do Think about doing that and same here I’m not gonna have higher cliffs on this side again and then yeah it will we’ll just kind of like go into these more lowlands here which is why these natural rivers will actually appear that well not really appear there that we they Would have eroded the land should I say it’s the same here I’ll be having lots of more cliffs on this side and then I can load lowlands here probably a nice little maybe a bit of a cliff on this side but I might have lots of low bits On this as if it’s been cut out so do think like that you know do do you have a look at everything I need to pull these some of these rivers out same with here as well you know have have this raised up so have a look at your train And really try and make it feel natural and as a rule of thumb you know your low points are where your rivers since you planned that from episode three you’re gonna be absolutely fine so anyone guys thank you very much watching hope you’ve enjoyed this video if you have comment like and subscribe And I’ll see you guys on the next one Video Information
