A while back i made a video going through just the very basic history of minecraft online the oldest running minecraft server i mentioned that i’d love to do more videos on it if people enjoyed the first and they did quite a lot actually as it was my best performing video at the time I released it though i’m not so sure it is anymore but there’s been one prevalent issue that while i pushed through it for the first video has seriously deterred me from playing the server much more and that is the lag because the server is you know 11 years old and has never been reset there’s quite a lot of power needed to keep it up and running and as a result it tends to be slow very slow in fact running at an average of just 5 to 10 percent of normal servers speed but on april 1st that all changed Minecraft’s oldest server is becoming newer and that will mean quite a lot for the future of fredonia so let’s talk about that okay very very quickly before i get into the main part of the video i’ve got a few things i have to say firstly this isn’t a real minecraft and Covered video and i know it’s not remotely the same quality or length of video you would usually expect from me i had less than a day to make this secondly there’s a fair amount of lag spikes in this video and i’m sorry about that i spent two hours trying to fix It and nothing worked minecraft 1.12 must just be like this i guess i don’t really know and lastly for those that argue that nerd.new is minecraft’s oldest server i am counting by world age nerd.new is reset constantly and minecraft online has never reset therefore in my eyes minecraft online is older Now that that’s over let’s get into it long story short there was an event called the end faction that began at the end of february and it eventually led up to april 1st which brought a temporary anarchy world on minecraft version 1.12.2 the first time minecraft online had gone past 1.7.10 Ever and their first update in nearly six and a half years just two days later on april 3rd minecraft online officially updated the entire server to version 1.12.2 and the player base exploded well over a hundred players were on to see it and the server experienced some lag as a Result partially because it’s a brand new update that still needs some bugs fixed partially because there were five times as many players as usual and partially because of stuff like this i myself joined an hour or two later and was lucky enough to see the new end dimension for the first time though It didn’t end too well for me on account of my accidental committing of murder the manhunt that followed and my eventual death in the void but it was a very interesting experience to be sure of course 1.12 brought much more than just an end dimension launch party elite trading has started with players Scouring for the rare items in far-off end chips to sell them for absurd amounts of money a border expansion will be coming soon as well featuring all of the new mobs blocks and items that have been added since 1.7 and most importantly to me at least tps is improving it’s far from perfect Yet but even with a higher player count than usual as a result of the update it’s still able to reach two three maybe even four tps easily whereas before it was essentially always two or below in my experience mining and placing blocks isn’t really a huge issue anymore Though it has brought the unfortunate side effect of every food item taking like 20 seconds to eat staff are still working on improvements though and i’ve been told that the server should eventually be getting to level similar to that of 2b2t running at 10 to 15 tps minimum if all Goes well for me that is great it means i get to explore the many many cities and built of fredonia without worrying about some fall damage i should have taken five seconds ago accidentally launching me off the side of a cliff true story that has happened Multiple times it means i can make more videos and in turn the server will get more players and continue to grow bigger minecraft online has always been a very interesting server but one with some very serious problems now with those problems slowly fading away we enter into a new age of feudonia That’s about it for the video again sorry it’s so short and simple it’s mainly just something to hold you guys over for the next week or two while i finish my next video i’m currently about halfway done but things are also going to be a bit crazy over the next few weeks so Just expect the video soon trademarked but yeah i don’t really have much else to say hope you enjoyed here’s to actually making good videos soon and peace You Video Information

As always, respect the rules on the server; no hacking, no griefing, no spam, etc. MinecraftOnline is and and always has been a very interesting server, but one with a crucial flaw: the lag. With the server running at just 5-10% of the normal speed of a Minecraft world, many players, including myself, have been discouraged from playing. However, with a new update introduced on April 1st, things are starting to change. In today’s episode of not-quite-Minecraft Uncovered, we explore the 1.12.2 update on MinecraftOnline.
