Steve everyone’s favorite blocky mind man and let’s not forget his female counterpart Alex e wooly blocky and equally loveable but where did they come from and how do they arrive here in Minecraft well the history is a bit more complicated than you might think before user names or skins were added before Not even thought about creating the game that would become Minecraft they came into existence they’ve gone through a zombie apocalypse a rugged wilderness filled with monsters a free-for-all shootout an alien invasion and they’re still around to tell the story this is the history of Steve and Alex man crafts blocky heroes We’ll begin with Steve considering that he was the first to be added in but not just before Alex Steve was actually the very first mob in the entire game originally just known as a human very original name by the way I know in fact these human characters were Added in very very early before the first version of Minecraft was even released minecraft at the time I make this video has been developed for 4080 days humans were added in on day two originally these humans didn’t have much of a purpose other than for testing they spent their days roaming the world Running in circles leaking off any platforms they could find and zooming through water as if their feet were enchanted with depth Strider three they were pretty violent to randomly attacking you like a zombie now these clearly weren’t the smartest or most skilled mobs in the game so they were Disabled pretty early on when minecraft was still in pre classic development and by the time 1.8 came around these humans were gone for good but the skin stuck around and still being used as a default skin for a minecraft character to this day over eleven years later Speaking of where did that skin come from well Steve’s skin wasn’t created for Steve it wasn’t created for the human mob heck it wasn’t even created for Minecraft although notch is mostly known for Minecraft he’s developed tons of other games both public and unreleased and something that most players don’t know Is that most of these original minecraft textures were taken from other games grass dirt and cobblestone were from an unreleased game from notch called Ruby dome in fact Ruby dunk could even be called the first version of minecraft minecraft’ only came into existence because notch wanted a first-person view Of Ruby dung which at the time looks sort of like a simulation game like civilization 5 Ruby dung though was never released and as far as I can tell not only mentioned it once on his abandoned tumblr blog in October of 2009 if you go back into some of the old JSON Files from early Minecraft versions you can actually still see references to Ruby dome on top of the blocks textures like armor swords and apples came from legend of the chambered when of notches earliest games released all the way back in 2008 this one is still around today And it’s what you’re watching right now of course this video is about Steve so I’ll save armor and weapons for another video content Steve skin is no exception taken from yet another old game of notches this one was called a zombie town and it’s one of the most mysterious ones yet Practically nothing is known about the game the only info that we have is that it was a sequel to left fork a dead a top-down zombie shooter that not fit into just four kilobytes for a coding competition other than that were kind of clueless fortunately we do have one Crucial bit of information one 15 second clip from notches YouTube channel of just about 100 zombies running around in a field zombies that look suspiciously like Steve in Zombie town the Steve characters move around just like the humans used to in Minecraft as well who knows maybe they’re one in the same But that’s just a theory okay alright before Matt pack comes down with a big copyright strike let’s move on we know about the skin and about the original human mob but where did Steve actually come from originally Steve looked a bit different okay a lot different the Original Steve can only be played in the in dev 0.31 version of Minecraft which was around for just two days instead of looking like a typical minecraft mob Steve was a full 3d model of a humanoid character with white skin brown hair and eyes in a blue and brown outfit there Was also a black Steve mob with gray hair and eyes and a red outfit unlike the human mobs mentioned before these Steve’s were completely unanimity and they just slid along the ground and jumped endlessly until you killed them when they would just disappear interestingly they dropped string feathers of flint and steels and Gunpowder which aren’t part of the human anatomy last time I checked but I mean hey I could be wrong along with the two Steve’s there was also a 3d model for a character named Beastie Boy based off the Teen Titan and Rayna which was taken from one of the character designers Older projects this 3d model of Steve was planned to be the default player skin originally but all of the models were removed when the designer doc left just a few days later if doc stayed around just a little while longer minecraft mobs could have looked very different no scratch that The entire game of Minecraft could have been completely different if he made four new mobs in unused logo and concept art in just under two months imagine what could have changed over the last 10 years so that amount does it for Steve after cycling through all those versions Mojang eventually settled on the Steve we all know and love today but what about Alex where did she come from well back in 2014 August 22nd to be exact Alex was pretty silently slipped into the pre-released 41.8 which is still one of the most popular versions to this day accounts would randomly be Given the Steve or Alex skin based on their unique user ID oddly enough it doesn’t look like there was any hints or discussion about Alex before she was added into the game she just appeared maybe mooting thought it was time to finally add a girl to the game or maybe They just needed a new skin to test out their small armed player model the world may never know but hey I can’t just tell you all this fortunately for us minecraft has an option to play most of the older versions of the game versions with humans Steve black Steve Raina and Beast Boy versions were the modern Steven Alex hadn’t even been thought of I think it’s time to take a trip to the Past alright boys so we’re here we’re on in den this is C 0.31 so as you can see I am I am not even lying like this was Actually a Minecraft back in the day like first few weeks this was how minecraft looked I am happy it doesn’t look like this anymore because like all these like funko pop vinyl looking people I just I don’t know I don’t know if I would have liked this game as much If it looked like this I gotta be honest with you so we spawn with a flint and steel can I set this guy on fire I can he is set on fire I am going to jail for arson but yeah we thought we got all of our Favorite characters here we got Steve we got black Steve we got a beast boy over here copyright infringement probably but we don’t talk about that but yeah this was pretty chaotic and look at the mob spawning rates on this – like with all these but this must be like I don’t know 30 mobs on this one little area I gotta be honest like at a base level it does not look all that different now but yeah this is this is crazy I’m I don’t know I might make like like a playthrough of this I don’t know that’s that’s something I would consider doing Like maybe a little side playthrough on like stream or something that might be fun but yeah boy so that’s gonna be it for this version but we still have one more version we got to check out the humans so I will see you all in instead alright boys we are in pre-classic I Don’t even remember what words this was it in the launcher it’s like Rd one six one three four eight or something like that and there we go that’s a human I don’t think I can even enlarge the screen so I apologize that it looks really weird and zoomed are we in we are Not in creative are we in creative mode we’re in creative mode and the controls are inverted I don’t know why can we fight this guy I want to fight him does he attack me apparently not I guess but yeah we this actually looks quite a fair Bit different than the one we were just in because when we were just in was actually newer but it looks like the terrain and this one is pretty crazy I could probably build a parkour course of this but that’s about it since you know survival was not a thing I don’t I Doubt we’re gonna be doing much PvP oh there’s more land this way okay I thought this was gonna be border but no we actually have a functioning Minecraft world and that apparently just naturally generated these humans are having lots of fun and they’re like I don’t know Eight frame walk cycle this is this is a little bit different than what I’m used to I gotta say I don’t even know what options do we have Oh escape escape just closes the game okay well that’s that’s cool I’m I’m a little disturbed now I Think we should go back to the future well I thank God we’re back much better I don’t think I ever want to go back there again to be completely honest that was traumatizing so now you’ve seen the history and horror of the old Steven Alex but what are they doing today well Steve is owned by a normal player like you and me and he’s having a great time playing on some of his favorite minecraft servers I even managed to get a screenshot with him a while back it also looks like he became a furry yay outside of Minecraft Steve is enjoying a nice celebrity Status featuring in games like mortal two hybrid super meatboy Retro City Rampage and more as for Alex who ironically has a Steve skin she hasn’t been seen in years nobody knows where Alex went maybe hero Ryan kidnapped her nah I’m just kidding we all know here our Brian isn’t real right You Video Information
