which if that is the case might actually be what we need I wonder if that’s the idea you just have to hit up every variant of the desert temple and all the different biomes and that’s where you get know the ad incentive thing for a little bit until they kneecapped it um yeah and I guess that was able to like prevent some pre-rolls from happening on my Channel right when when you hit the three yeah when you run an ad it’s like you’ll get 30 minutes without any pre-rolls yeah it depends how long the ad break I think it’s three minutes of ads per hour stops pre-rolls that’s like the threshold that you need to hit Um so I had that but then I just disabled it so now people get pre-rolls but I don’t do ad breaks anymore unless I’m yeah I’m going pee in a a mod uh runs it or something like that but it’s yeah it’s just oh it’s so intrusive man and like you cannot get Out of it anytime that you you go to a new a new channel if they haven’t been running those uh those those mid-roll ads then you’re gonna get hit with a pre-roll no matter what yeah it’s the interesting part is though like for how often like they seem to have an insanely High fill rate like almost any time you go to any partner and stream you get hit with a mid or a pre-roll right it’s like almost without fail YouTube sometimes even if you don’t have premium you’ll you know occasionally you just won’t get an ad on a video Yeah because sometimes Like when I’m because what I do is when I’m looking at like I want to look up gameplay of say like something old that I might want to emulate um and do for stream so I’ll just like search something gameplay in an incognito browser so it doesn’t mess With my algorithm and yeah sometimes I don’t even get ads yeah at least not like a uh I don’t get unskippable pre-rolls most of the time so yeah it does not fill is I mean I think I think they probably just get better uh um ads like that just because like the Attention is more like they can sell that the attention is there better than YouTube can I guess no well no I was gonna say on Twitch yeah you would think that with how many ads you see and what the perceived fill rate is that their ad rates would be way higher Yeah because ads on YouTube are so much better although you know it is for the first time in a few years I think ad rates kind of like peaked in 2021 for the last couple years they’ve actually been on a downtrend it’s always they’ve managed to consistently increase it ever Since you know we started until 21 and now the thing is though like with shorts and stuff it basically just like the the value of a view on YouTube just continues to decrease uh over time because they’re because shorts are like taking over and it’s kind of like a race To the bottom right with all the platforms competing for just short clip eyeball attention is you just that stuff doesn’t monetize so it does not at all a view continues to become like lesson I don’t know about you but when I checked because I tried doing a couple of shorts and I think That the rate was like seven cents yep that’s that’s about right about the standard okay yeah because it’s a big it’s a it’s a pool that everyone is sharing from so the rate should essentially be be this they’re identical um for everybody yeah versus my CPM which is generally like Three dollars maybe a little bit more than that yeah that’s highly variable based on the length of the videos the topic how many minerals you’ve placed so that can that could go all up like you could get a I always yeah the highest CPM I’ve ever gotten was seven and it Was because I put mid-rolls on a video and forgot to manage them and so it automatically placed like 15 apps in the video yeah and then I went back the next day I was like wow this one’s doing really well I wonder why the ad rate is So high this makes no sense and then I realized that I didn’t manage the mid-roll and it just placed a bunch of them in there yeah I so if you I think the best you can possibly do on YouTube is is a finance Channel like a finance Podcast yeah yeah yeah is about as as good as you could probably get up to um a 20. well at least you could in like Peak 2021 I don’t know if it’s any lower now but yeah I’ve I’ve heard of like booktubers and other ones like that getting into the 20s yeah Um okay man that’s insane I I cannot believe that like just the idea of ever mate having something be almost 10 times as much as I’ve ever pulled in CPM yeah no it’s it’s insane it’s insane bro uh okay well you know this is a bit of a Bummer because we are maybe I should start a second Channel you know just fine find something that I know would do good on ad revenue and just like pivot man well I mean honestly what you can do is you can just upload vods on another Channel yeah hi everybody watching this on YouTube currently like there’s no harm in doing it it’s you’re already streaming it you’re already recording it not recording it but you could be recording it you know I mean it’s easy enough to marker stuff on Twitch and just automatically upload it to YouTube anyways through that system The only downside is like I stream in 720p so it’s not like the best VOD quality in the world is that capped because of your upload or your PC mainly well it’s it’s mainly PC because some games if I try to stream them above 720 Uh uh I start to have really bad frame rate issues some games are totally fine for 1080p um and I’ve got the bitrate for it but like you know on Twitch like if you’re not doing at least like 10 uh megabit like 1080p is not really worth it for Some of the quality loss when you place like even like Minecraft if I’m walking through I mean for a long time no I did I do I do like six and a half or seven for 720p just to have it like as crisp as possible and it’s wonderful Like my streams look better than some of the 1080p streams because I don’t have the chunky bit rate that people do interesting interesting oh my God I’m gone again okay so it is lost eye and the Magical eye so it is the mine shaft one and the evoker one so it Actually is there not a corrupted eye and then there wouldn’t be any way for us to find a mine shaft without just digging and finding them right like no shortcut really to that uh no but they are everywhere to be yeah yeah you just I want to go home and just Confirm so because we are at 10 oh sorry no we have found the Lost eye and did it say that the Lost eye is the one that’s in oh lost eye is found in mine shafts we have the one okay you did get that one oh what The heck we must have had that one for a long time so yeah it’s just magical eye and uh and corrupted eye so yeah we but there are as opposed to when I played this in another mod pack where there’s 16 and you just pick 12. it’s only 12 Here so we have to get every single one so okay yeah evoker and Pillager Outpost are the the two things that you need to get um so all right I’m going back to afds on my way are we gonna find it I think you took the way Stone but that’s totally fine Just just as a warning I do have a hard cut off when uh the finals for Street Fighter 6 started Evo uh what is that um maybe in the next half hour I have a hard cut off in just under half an hour as well so it works out really well okay Cool cool yeah yeah yeah um okay cool very important cutoff for me okay understand this is hey I I because they got a lot of stuff that even if you’re not like super into fighting games you can uh you know they got a lot of arcade machines the artist alley all that kind Of stuff if you’re interested in just checking out a convention God I don’t even really remember what I ended up doing this was like probably uh 11 years ago maybe I’ve never I’ve never been invited to anything in my life except uh that is so not accurate I’ve I I one one time I was invited to a thing and it was the Machinima the inside gaming Awards the inside gaming Awards in 2010 is the only one thing you’ve ever been invited to anything God this is the worst what is happening to us I’m I don’t know I’m not much of a networking person either um yeah I don’t know I I think it’s nice to get information see here’s the thing I always feel like if you show up at a thing that YouTube invites you to then it helps you to get invited to more Things in the future potentially and it’s always nice to be able to have a person you can email at YouTube if something is going wrong so you know whatever whatever I can do one contact at YouTube that you can use yeah so like whatever’s not being captured oh ripping Pieces so whatever like if I can be you know nice and amicable and and friendly in order to try to maintain that like I’m I’m more than happy to do it because when issues arise if I didn’t have someone to email like I never would have learned that the reason why my Video was age restricted the other day was because there was a photo of a bong in a Reddit post and that is a No-No hello Mr stable master I don’t think I’ve been in here and then I emailed it back and I was like hey can I use the video editor in Order to just uh get rid of that part and I haven’t heard back yet but you know here’s to hoping that it will be good freaking weather oh it’s a igloo does this one have a basement no some of these igloos they have basements but anyway you there Oh sorry I was muted my bad my bad I was saying I’ve been hit by some demonetization but for things where I’m like yeah that’s understandable and I’m not going to try to remove her from the video yeah it’s questionable when it has happened to me in the past and they’ve Gotten more and more and more strict like I don’t think they’re a few years ago having a picture of a bong in a short clip of a video would have gone because I’ve been I’ve been retroactively hit with stuff from that’s years old you know and it’s like well it doesn’t matter it You know it’s it’s in its Twilight years nobody’s viewing it anymore I’m not gonna care yeah I mean why bother going through the the effort no there’s no point not for something that might get yeah 50 to 100 views a month it’s like I totally care Hey man you might be missing out on like five cents before before the 2017 like great demonetization scare it was funny because like My Views were being carried by the first episode of my saw two Let’s Play constantly being in people’s recommended videos and just like con it Just just garnering views every month it would it would outdo a lot of my new videos oh see that is like I’ve only just started to experience that again but what it is what’s oh really it’s on the it’s on my uh reaction Channel and it’s because of a short Ah okay dude I I’ve had this short that has gotten like 12 million views and it just it was it a Minecraft one or something no no it’s like I said it’s on your reaction Channel yeah okay um and so it basically like it was really interesting because it popped off at first And then you know got like six or seven million views from that and then it it kind of calmed down which you would expect things have a life cycle and then it ended up like a few weeks later all of a sudden out of nowhere it Goes from like 5 000 views a day back up to you know like 200 000 views a day out of nowhere and I I was talking on it talking about it like on a on a call with my uh yeah YouTube contact guy and he was like oh yeah because basically Like after a certain amount of downtime it ended up hitting this new threshold of like uh watch time on it basically percentage watched and and all of a sudden as soon as that happened it just started sending it through people’s feeds again and anyway so that thing has Basically like caused that chance it’s con contributed to like 80 percent of that Channel’s views over the last like three months just one one short and so you like look at the amount of views that the channel has gotten and then you look at the revenue the channel has generated [Laughter] Views in a month if this kept happening with different videos and I would make no extra money well what’s the secret sauce in your mind on a general upload these are you talking about it kept up like okay of like when it transitioned from oh a video that is like just over Three minutes long to a video that’s uh half an hour long or whatever and and like oh that’s uh making hyena sounds man laughs did you hear that that sounds so goofy I know dude um what like what’s the overall are you talking like what kind of videos take Off or are you talking about what are the metrics yeah yeah that’s what I mean um I mean the the videos in at least in Minecraft that take off are oh look at them riding bees that’s kind of cool you’re called a b night yo that’s really Sick because if I was to say based on what I’ve seen it’s like human person it’s a human person just a human in the thumbnail human face in the thumbnail and an ambiguous title um relatively ambiguous so in in Minecraft content though the The Meta is more so Like you have to basically what would have been an entire you know 20 episode series or something like that that has to be one video and it has to be you know basically it’s it’s almost a montage of a bunch of short tick tocks like every single 30 seconds there has To be something you know catchy attention grabbing that’s taking place in order to keep people’s attention um so I mean that’s that’s the kind of Minecraft content that really gets clicks or or I would say that’s the kind that is actually more you know relatable to the content that I’ve historically Made it’s just take what I’ve made historically and condense it way down and make some crazy find a way to make it easy yeah but on the other hand then you have like the the like really really little kid appealing stuff that yeah it takes a lot of work like these people Have huge huge teams that are coding data packs and mods and and textures player models for every single video but it’s it’s like you know they’re playing characters they’re role playing and it’s very much aimed at like that you know I would say three to seven year old audience probably Um so it’s like those are kind of the the two different types of of Minecraft content that uh for sure doesn’t do well like hyper consistency and uh attention grabbing yeah it’s like every video that those channels are putting out shares that format so it’s like there’s no deviation That you can pause the video I’m never confused about what you’re getting yeah because ultimately like I underperforming video can like negatively impact future videos absolutely yeah isn’t that fun Unfortunately that do be how it is okay let’s uh okay I’m just freezing I think so that it is not raining at night and also just stop getting hit by random things in the middle of the night okay all right please no rain at least no rain you took my bed again Did I I’m so sorry uh I don’t want to keep going to the north we could of like This super hilly Stone I kind of want to get back to more of like a a Plains sort of area although you know you probably eat a Pillager Outpost spawning inside of a a tiger of sorts possibly maybe more Big Trees I mean I am 100 percent gonna find a Pillager Outpost in between episodes yeah we don’t get it now yeah [Laughter] we ain’t doing this again yo we can take out this gigantic worm now I can’t remember you ugly oh oh he actually took him he took out four hearts oh really yeah and it’s so weak too I only shot it Twice I’ve never been so excited to be hurt before oh it’s I guess they’re always just in the locating phase and it’s like well what the frick I don’t I I guess there’s Nothing like too significant in here although I don’t know if there’s an underground parts of this oh wait do I get that Arrow back um hello mining Arrow it was a one-time use good to know wait what yeah how useless is that oh either that or maybe Infinity breaks it it might be An Infinity problem
