Information from 1:35
The world originally was just going to be a small town. Some houses, maybe some shops, it didn’t matter, as at the time it was just another thing for a 12 year old me to play on. It then became a bigger project with lots of people helping build different areas of the map expanding into almost a large city.
As the world was getting bigger and bigger, we thought adding a few Minecraft mods with furniture and decorative items would really benefit the world to give it more details and allow us to create different things that we could not before. After adding them, this backfired badly. Really badly. the server became essentially corrupt, with all the worlds on the server, including this one, being inaccessible. Luckily, I managed to contact the company who hosted the Minecraft servers and helped me reverse the damage.
It may seem like just a video game (which it is!) but 12 year old me at the time was extremely stressed, which was understandable. If you work on something with friends for a long long time, you would be upset if it was lost.
We eventually opted to use plugins for the server, which everyone on the server could access but didn’t need to download any extra content for. We started using things like world edit to speed up building in the world, but also using Minecraft schematics. What I mean by that is that a few buildings in the world have been built by other Minecraft players on the internet which we then pasted into the world and changed them to our liking. Some buildings were there simply for inspiration for things around it, whereas some were put in the world and completely transformed with different blocks, different interiors, or adding it onto existing builds. You will understand what I mean by this further into the tour segment of this video.
2019
During early 2019, Minecraft stories and series were becoming more popular as many large and small creators were writing, producing and uploading stories, long and short, to YouTube. I will not give too many details but myself and a few friends managed to get noticed by a pretty large Minecraft creator at the time about our series before it even released, gaining thousands of views on our series when it eventually released. We only managed to produce one episode fully of the said series but it was extremely positively received by many Minecraft players and creators on YouTube and even let viewers explore the world if they asked. This episode is now private on YouTube so if you are trying to find it, I’m sorry! It is not available anymore. But the trailer is. So who knows…
A few months after we stopped working on this series, I shut the server down as no one was playing on it anymore and I didn’t want to pay for something I could play in single player.
